@sam singh That is not altogether true Sam. In my particular case, my parents were given care by my brother and I until the day they left this earth. My wife's parents as well. And in my wife's case she is disabled from a stroke. I have been her caregiver for the last 15 years. I had never at any time contemplated putting any of them in senior homes or rehab facilities. That really choked me up. Those guys displayed absolute honour to that guy, and it must have been beautiful to watch. Well done lads. And thank you Lou.
It’s a wonderful thank you . It’s was terrible when these people returned and were not welcomed but vilified and imagine the families of those who lost members of their families . The bodies of some of these young men were used to smuggle in drugs that was the final disgrace !
One of my younger cousins recently joined the Marines, and while I will always worry for his safety if he is ever deployed anywhere dangerous (I held him in my lap when he was a toddler, and him and his younger brother have always been close to me), I have tremendous respect for his decision to join the military as well. My step-grandfather (whom I consider my real grandfather, as far as my biological maternal grandfather goes he can rot in a ditch for all I care after he just up and walked out on my grandmother and mother. My step-grandfather always treated me like I was his own flesh and blood, I only wish I could remember more of him, as he passed away back in 1996 when I was only 8 years old....tragically his own mother outlived him by several decades) actually served in World War II, and he was about to be deployed overseas when the war ended. I see myself as a bit of a coward, as I doubt I would ever have the guts to do anything potentially dangerous, as I'm very cautious by nature, but I will always have nothing but respect and gratitude for not just the military, but law enforcement, the fire department, and any other occupation where an everyday potential risk to their lives and well-being is just part of the job.
Those guys get it. They were very honorable in doing that. A lot of our Vietnam vets were treated very badly when they got back home. It makes me love this country even more.
War crimes are not due respect in Nam any more than Ukraine Iraq Afghanistan or Yemen. Empire is not worth respecting. Do not be good Germans, Soviets or Russians.
too true, too many of our Vietnam vets were treated badly. and they didnt deserve it at all. they answered our countries call, regardless of whether we should have been involved or not.
Those marines are patriots. They went the extra mile to make this veteran feel good and to be acknowledge for his service and sacrifice during the Vietnam War. Its also about military brotherhood and these marines displayed it. Well done marines! Thank you for all those who serves!

@@davidconrad7218 there were soldiers who committed war crimes, but not all of them. And if u wanna blame for the participation, u blame the administration, not the soldiers. The soldiers didn't choose to go to war, it was the government. Not all murderers. Pls do some study before going around judging people, technically the North Vietnam won, but the US military didn't lose, it was a withdrawal due to major reasons. It was a political loss, but militarily, the Americans whooped the Vietnamese asses, US had 58,000 killed, the NV had more than a million killed, so who whooped who ass. Its obvious that American whooped their asses. But of course, u can continue to be a military hater, but by your comment, it just shows u are ignorant.
I served a combat tour 70/71 in Nam. When I returned back to the US I had to take my uniform off in the bathroom to prevent demonstrators from harassing me. It’s never to late to thank a Nam vet for serving his/her country.
Hi jim gaul I like to convey my respect to you as Vietnam veteran. My dad pass from agent orange,he got from his tour in vietnam as a us marine.so I like you to know you and all vietnam vets are loved and respected. By many more americans than not. From grateful son and American.
I hear ya there! When I went thru Basic training in 1990, Mofos we’re getting punched in the Face by the TI (USAF Training instructor)! Things are much easier Now, I think because of lots of Lawsuits, etc... If You wore the uniform, you deserve Respect tho! To us living outside the US it seems, your president and too many americans have forgotten that privileges and honor must be earned and that the outside world is not theirs to rape and rob.
I am an Australian Vietnam Veteran (Army) and I recently toured the USA and I wore my Vietnam Vets Cap. From the moment I left the aircraft I was amazed at the number of people, complete strangers that came up to me and either hugged me or shook my hand and said thank you for your service. There wasn't one day in the whole 4 weeks that someone didn't come up and say thanks. In Australia we have a lot to learn about those that served.
Arthur, I am a US Navy Vietnam Vet. I have lived in Australia for the past 20 years. I think it took the Twin Towers for Americans to appreciate their servicemen. I was never thanked for my service until a visit back home after 911. Then I was thanked by friends who knew me before I enlisted, and were my friends afterward, but it was like they just wanted to forget the war and forget that many of us served. I have to tell you the first time someone (an old high school friend) thanked me and acknowledged my service, it hit me hard, but in a nice way. Mind you, I had a hazardous job, under tough conditions, but I didn't have anyone shooting at me.
Arthur Ventham hey man, just wanted to say thankyou for your service. Although, as an Aussie, I know we don’t have that same patriotism that the US has, that doesn’t mean what you’ve done is any less appreciated. I’m sorry you feel that way but please know a “thankyou for your service” will never do you justice for what you’ve done. I wish I could do more than leave a comment and give thanks, but I truly hope you know exactly how thankful we all are for what you’ve done. Love from a regular young Aussie who feels forever indebted to you for your service. X
Magic Fishing Charters hey man, thankyou for your service! I know that a small comment can’t do you justice for what you’ve done, but please know you are so appreciated. Your comment has intrigued me immensely. I’ve always been interested in the relationship between other servicemen(Americans/Europeans etc) and how they view/their relationship with Australian soldiers. Would you mind elaborating on why Australians were some of the toughest guys you’ve met? I don’t hear much about it and would LOVE to know how men view Australian soldiers. So much love, thanks and respect to you Sir! Xx

🇺🇸 Absolutely many do understand sacrifice and appreciate it !! They are true patriotic Americans and they/we shall prevail !! One nation under God !! US Army 86-90 🇺🇸🙏
I joined the Marine Corps, for two reasons: first, my grandmother (first generation American) said this country is worth fighting for. Second reason, is the job the Vietnam Vets did.
You sir survived the worst war that lasted 10 year's . When I was a kid in the 70"s living with my grandparents watching the nightly news every night with Walter Cronkite . He would talk about the Vietnam war every night . You sir are one of the lucky ones who fought for are country that survived . What you and so many other men did is priceless and no amount of recognition or saying thank you for your service is enough gratitude . I salute you with the upmost respect and honor .
Gets me every time... No one seemed to care in the 70s. As a matter of fact, we were less than appreciated. Now it seems like I'm always being thanked for my Service. Perfect timing...
Very true, my father in-law and I share stories..it was ruff he got spit on by numerous people when he came home..but I can see it happening to the kid's now coming home or leaving, with how much hate is brewing for service members.
Watching Walter Cronkite EVERY NIGHT growing up going to College in 1976 My Childhood HEROES were Sitting beside Me and I listened to Them . Son of the Greatest Generation Vet . Thanks to You ALL !
It was wrong that too many people who were against the war did not support the men who fought it. Your dad should have had a parade. I wanted to be a chopper pilot and was in Air force ROTC, but my eyesight wasn't good enough. I dropped out to let them draft me the 1st year of the lottery. I was 1 weeks worth of numbers from being drafted when Nixon came on TV at the end of August and said no more numbers would be taken. There went my GI Bill college. I went to work in a defense factory building mobile communications units for Nam and had a Secret clearance. I slowly turned against the war because of the rules of engagement. Our fighter planes couldn't take out a SAM site in the North because they might kill a Russian advisor. So the SAMs would shoot down our planes and the NVA would send the pilots to the Hanoi Hilton to be tortured. Our troops never lost a battle, but they were never allowed to win the war. I am proud of all of our warfighters and honor their service. It was the Generals and the politicians I despise. Astan proved they learned nothing.
Extremely proud to have been a Marine in Vietnam and to know that five fellow Marines thanked that Navy Vietnam Veteran the way they did. Good ole American Vets.
@@Justintime-sy1sm MAN, you SHOULD understand, just look at the boys coming back today, and the baggage they wear. The difference is that today the public isn't hearing or seeing walter Cronkite rammed down your throat!!!!

I love what they did. I'm a VN vet also. I once saw a vet from WW 2 and I asked him about his service. He was a marine at Iwo. I almost broke down and cried. I know what they went through, my uncle, (God bless his soul) was there also and told me many a story. They were of the Greatest Generation, you won't see this happen in the US ever again. I saw that he and his wife had finished dinner, so after I left his table, I told the waiter to give them both a piece of pie and ice cream, tell them it's from another vet. Yes, we vets have a common denominator. Even from the Vets of the 1940's men that enlisted to fight WW 2, to today. We have gone through boot camp and gotten our asses kicked and handed to us. We learned RESPECT. Even here in Costa Rica, where I live, when they find out I am a VN Vet, they even thank me for my service. Evidently, the kids learned about VN, I'm proud to be a Vet, even though our country is going to hell in handbasket. There is an old movie that I wish all of you could watch, it's called "The D.I." with Jack Webb. The part in the basketball court where the commander meets with the mother of a troop that wants out, she say's NO, my husband was a Marine who died at Guadalcanal and I want my son to be a Marine. He will not fail. You will make him a Marine. You will cry, trust me.
@@itsJutzme Thank you for your kind reply. Remember, the greatest generation, our WW 2 vets are a dying breed. Remember them in your prayers, I do. We are free because of them.
I had poor health so i wasn't able to join the military, so i make a deliberate effort to thank the ones who can, It may not be much, but until i can find a better way to support them, that is what i will do to thank them for their service.
It’s a simple gesture that most don’t think about. It means a lot to us. I do it all the time and everyone should. This country was founded on a great idea with promising future for all. Viet Nam was a tough gig. I was a little girl while that war was going on. Mr. Zezoff, you deserved the salute and so much more for serving your country during that terrible war. God bless you and all the Viet Nam War veterans!
When Vietnam Vets returned, we were never thanked for our service to the country. I remember being given the finger and spat upon when disembarking a plane at San Francisco airport. I, too, am very grateful for the acknowledgement and thanks that I receive today.

My wife and I were in a restaurant eating breakfast, and the server came and got our ticket, and I knew what was up. A couple got up to go pay theirs and our ticket. I prayed to God about this and He said, "People have a need to thank you for your service. So go on and receive it." So to any Vietnam veteran who reads this post, the respect and recognition bestowed on me equally applies to you as well. I just happen to be in their cross hairs.

Great story. I, too, am a Veteran but I don't wear it on my sleeve. Not because I'm not proud of serving my country but because so many made the ultimate sacrifice I feel I'm not worthy of any praise I get from others. I live in a town where we have young men and women deploying to Afghanistan on a regular basis and I know any of them may not come home. Every time I see them in a restaurant I pick up their tab and ask the waitress to please not tell them who paid for their meal. I love our young men and women serving our country because today's generation doesn't really care or think about our history and those who gave all so they could be free.
Martin, Like you, I do not like to overshadow those who you and I might call "Real Vets." Like you, I know how lucky we are that we came home. But... Several years after my 8 years in the Navy as an enlisted-man, I became a professional pilot. The chief pilot at one company I worked for was an F-4 Navy Aviator during the Vietnam War. Over there, he was hit and ejected over water, landed in the drink, and was picked up. That mild mannered, retired Lt. Commander said to me: "You volunteered. I didn't; I was drafted. You chose to serve, I didn't. You CHOSE to serve. So tell me, which one of us is more deserving of recognition?" I still make every effort not to overshadow those who gave the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who come home to a prostheses. But quietly, in my heart, I remember that old Phantom pilot who saluted me, and I pop tall and return his salute.
As am I, also a Viet Nam veteran. I considered it an honor to serve my country. My oath of enlistment will never expire. I just pray that one day all the people that hate veterans will see the light and understand what was done for them. I love America.
I was young when the Vietnam War ended but I remember that the soldiers returning from that war were not treated very well by people at that time. These were men who did their duty and did what their country and their government asked them to do. Like all soldiers who go to war they gave up a lot, watched their buddies get injured or die and endured horrific events. They did no less than soldiers from any other war and yet the people of this country, at that time, treated them poorly. It is so nice to see soldiers of that war getting the respect they should have gotten from Americans, at that time. You can hate war all you want, but respect the soldiers.
I am located near the 109th Airlift Wing and run a restaurant on average 2 to 3 times a month a customer will stop and thank a solider in uniform and buy their lunch. This is a great country and we owe thanks to all who are and have served for our freedoms.
Wow, beautiful. As a Navy Vietnam vet myself I never heard the words "thank you for your service" until 9/11. We were treated like criminals for decades.
Those are real men. Paying respect to the men who came before them. Awesome show of respect. Wish we had more of that these days. Great job guys. Much respect to yall. Great job.
I have great respect for marines after seeing them operate in Vietnam. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. Will always remember those who lost their lives in all the wars and be thankful for the freedom we have.. God Bless the USA.
Just today as I was shopping for groceries, a young lady, perhaps 30 or so walked straight up to me and asked to shake my hand. She thanked me for my service. I had my Navy cap that a friend had given me on my head. I was surprised since I normally don't wear a cap. I told her "thank you so much and that I considered it a privilege to have served". She smiled and said that it exactly what her husband would say since he was a veteran also. It took more than 45 years to hear that but she made my day.
Lou, Sir, veterans occupy a large space in my heart and while i respect all veterans, Vietnam vets stand in my mind because i was a child during that time and the way people treated them was more than shameful. it has been my practice to not only shake their hands and thank them for their service, but to extend a hearty welcome home. God bless you, whether you were drafted or enlisted you went there so that i never had to. i'm eternally grateful.
I served in the USAF in the early 80's, I have done this on several occasions, and if not in a restaurant I will always thank them for their service. I had a WWII vet tear up on me when I took his hand and told him, "thank you so much, this would be a much different place if not for soldiers like you".
I am a Vietnam veteran and wear a Vietnam Veterans hat. It's not un common that Nam vets say welcome home to each other. But more and more young people have been thanking me for my service. I usually ask them if they are from families that have had members who have served and most say yes, but not all. It's a nice trend and it does pull at my heart.
I was just a kid during the Vietnam war. I witnessed the disrespect the men and women of our military had to deal with when they came home. I didn’t appreciate the sacrifice and the pain you went through until I was older. I do now. On behalf of myself and family. I want to say Thank you for your service to our country and welcome home. Eve, I agree. The veterans have served in our military to maintain our liberty and securing our beloved country at the risk of sacrificing their own lives. All give some, some gave all. Pray for peace. 🇺🇸
I know this video is a few years old but I just caught it today. No one deserves recognition more than our Viet Nam vets, many of whom were treated horribly when they returned home, and undeservedly so. I remember many years ago (probably early-mid 80s) at a July 4 parade in Newport, RI, a contingent of Viet Nam vets were marching together and while many viewers remained silent, quite a few cheered, clapped, and loudly showed their appreciation. I watched as many of those men began to tear-up at the crowd's reaction. I'll never forget that day and I think it was a turning point when we as a country began appreciating our men and women in service once again.
Having spent a year in Danang in ‘67-‘68, I seriously choked up listening to this man’s great encounter with some of the country’s finest. Thanks for the video - meant a lot!

I Australian my Grandfather fought along side US Marines and Soldiers in the Pacific, God bless you sir!
Arthur Ventham Thank you for your service. Love from the USA.
I fought with Australia boys in nam. Toughest guys you ever saw. Thanks for protecting me
Arthur Ventham hey man, just wanted to say thankyou for your service.
Xx

I'm so glad you had such respect and honor from these young men. My Viet Nam vet dad waited 40 years to be welcomed home.

Martin,
Like you, I do not like to overshadow those who you and I might call "Real Vets." Like you, I know how lucky we are that we came home.
Commander said to me:
"You volunteered. I didn't; I was drafted. You chose to serve, I didn't. You CHOSE to serve. So tell me, which one of us is more deserving of recognition?"
I still make every effort not to overshadow those who gave the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who come home to a prostheses.

We may not agree on a war, but we respect and thank every servicemen and servicewomen for their service.
Thanks for spending your time in purgatory sir. Retired AF E-6.

This is kind of thing only happens when respect is earned not demanded. God Bless all of you.
It's so great when someone actually gets the credit they deserve for a job well done. true respect never gets old.
Watched this at 6 am this morning. My day is going to be easy now, no matter what happens.
Great job Marines ! ! !
I want to say
Thank you for your service to our country and welcome home. You are appreciated. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It's awesome when respect is earned and respect is given respect your military
As a marine, semper fi men. That is being a true marine. Your senior DI would be proud to have trained you. And to the elderly sailor, thank you sir for your service.
Participating in an undeclared UNCONSTITUTIONAL invasion and mass murder does NOT make someone a hero. It makes them a WAR CRIMINAL. ALL who participate in these evil actions are oath violators , traitors and cowards. They are also "Baby Killers" They were beaten by rice farmers and goat herding tribes who had NO Air force nor navy. They had their asses kicked by people defending their home.
My grandfather- Pearl Harbor

God bless them all.
FathomLordKarathr stupid comment when honoring an older veteran
Having spent a year in Danang in ‘67-‘68, I seriously choked up listening to this man’s great encounter with some of the country’s finest. Thanks for the video - meant a lot!
