    I've been using an iPhone for quite a while and finally decided to switch to an android phone. After searching around quite a lot, I keep getting the feeling that the HTC One m8 is perfect for me. I want a pretty and functional UI with good build quality. The camera and fitness features on the S5 just don't interest me all that much.
    So yeah, I'd love to win the HTC One (m8) if possible :D

    I really want to get that Dot View case for the HTC One, but I don't want to cover up the sexyness. The S5 is a good phone, but you'll probably want to get a case to hide it from the world and protect it's fragile body.

      lmao..fragile body..umm that would be that slippery metal m8 phone..samsung makes plastic because it can handle drops & scratches very well..let me know 5 months from now how that m8 looks if u dont put a case on it...lmao

      AYDELL2123 i haven't dropped mine yet and its really easy to hold onto if you like cheap plastic go for it but look at dropped test it outlasts every phone it goes against

      AYDELL2123 ummmm I am currently using a phone I dropped the other day as a mater of fact its the 2nd time iv dropped it an its made of plastic part of the plastic chipped off and you cant see craters on the back where it impacted the pavement if I have had a HTC ONE I highly doubt part of the metal would be chipped off an have craters visible more than likely I could of just wiped it off like it never even happened lol

    I have been a Samsung owner ( S, S2, S3, S4 ) for the longest time but originally started out with an HTC Hero. I saw your video this morning and had to go check out each phone at Future Shop by my home. I am on the fence. The S5 has a great platform and IP67 protection. However, was quite taken back by the HTC One (M8). Aluminum case, dual rear camera, KitKat, Bigger screen, and all its features. It would probably be the phone I would love to have but since I a locked into a contract with the S4 I can only hope that I get a chance to win one ! Great videos by the way. Most informative than the other videos out there.

    I had the Samsung Galaxy S3 and traded it in for the HTC One M8, and I must say, the phone is amazing. Now, I'm aware that using the S3 as an example isn't the viable but I have had hands on experiences with the S5 and I must say that there isn't must difference. Yes, it's bigger, yes a lot faster, and the camera is amazing but after a while, the gimmicks just fade on you and the build quality just leaves you in distaste.
    Both phones are amazing pieces of kit (HTC One M8 & Galaxy S5) but weighing it all, I'd have to say that the HTC tips it (barely). Yes, the camera isn't as good as the S5's but it's still very clear with beautiful tones, the S5 being crystal clear but very vibrant, I don't know, you may like that but to me it seems to smack me in my face. The HTC fits really well in your hand and the curved back helps a lot with that but I recommend getting a case as the aluminium shell renders it as slippery as a... well... I've never been good at similes.
    But in itself, the build quality is sheerly blissful. It's beautiful to look act and feels like it could give the cliché Nokia brick a run for it's money as far as indestructibility goes.
    Of course it isn't perfect, WiFi connectivity does seem to be an issue from time to time and other little things.
    Both phones are outstanding pieces of technology and it all depends on personal preference; you'll be happy regardless what you choose, but as far as I know, the HTC One M8 is the one the wins it.

    I own the HTC one M8 and you will not be disappointed. It is the best phone I have ever owned and the "selfie" mode is fantastic. There is no other phone on the market that takes such good "selfies". I also own a 5S and previously had the S4, S3 and HTC One M7. The camera takes great low light pictures but in full sunlight you will need to be careful but it still takes very good pictures. The build quality is awesome and the ability to take a 128gb says volumes. Touch sensitivity is the best I have ever experienced and, finally, HTC Sense is absolutely gorgeous.

    Htc One m8 wins in build quality. its so gorgeous and also it wins in sound quality.
    S5 in my opinion wins in just about all the other important stuff. That 16mp ISOCELL camera is premium, slightly faster cpu, plus wins in battery life, display quality, software features, plus water resistant, fingerscanner and Knox for excellent security.
    Thats not even all of it but I will gladly take a S5 over m8 :)

  • @bizin7220
    @bizin7220 10 лет назад +15

    you forgot the importance of the boom sound speaker. i mean, that and the software were the only two reasons i bought htc m8.

    • @Neno8403
      @Neno8403 10 лет назад +9

      External speakers are hardly important to most consumers. Out of the many many smartphones I have owned, the speakers were never even in the top five reasons to buy. I am plugged into great headphones 99.5% of the time. I haven't met a single person who primarily or even significantly uses their phones speakers. So, it's not a competitive advantage.

    • @prithwish002
      @prithwish002 10 лет назад +10

      Khemistry I know you... you are a Samsung fanboy....tell me one thing, if you dont use external speaker, then how do you understand that your phone is ringing?...

    • @hardcore8freak
      @hardcore8freak 10 лет назад +11

      Prithwish Dutta You can hear it if you dont have problems hearing
      I guess your ears got damaged while listening to music?

    • @prithwish002
      @prithwish002 10 лет назад +4

      jan van der veen Dude...to hear it, the phone needs an external speaker to produce the ring. That's why every phone has an external speaker. So it is pointless to say " I haven't met a single person who primarily or even significantly uses their phones speakers". Hope you have enough brain to understand this point.

    • @HorizunTheAlien
      @HorizunTheAlien 10 лет назад +5

      Prithwish Dutta Lmao...What a smartass. Khemistry is clearly talking about playing MUSIC through your primary phone speakers (Seeing as his comment was a opening thread response to someone talking about Boom Sound Speakers). I rarely use it to play music outloud, and if I do, I'm not worried about the phone speakers being great or not... They're PHONE SPEAKERS dumbass lol. No phone speakers are gonna be "Good" in general terms regardless.
      I too am almost consistently plugged in using good headphones instead of worried about how good my phone speakers are. NO SHIT you need them for when your phone rings/for notifications, just about every single phone ever invented has phone speakers to "produce the ring" lmao...You have a mute point AND extremely obvious point.
      Ugh.... Theres no way you're serious though. You have to be a troll. Or a idiot. Either suffices.
      Pick one.

    Guys, you know that Samsung cheats in benchmarks right, Google it and andantech has some nice stuff on it. They both have the exact same chipaet, don't say one is faster than another, they are the exact same speed. If you want to get nitty gritty, despite its lower clock speed, the HTC one has a better temperature displacement meaning it will throttle less often and be able to maintain a higher clock speed longer is games. And you can also always overclock, REMEMBER THESE ARE THE EXACT SAME CHIPSETS!!!! It all comes down to ui optimization!

    • @ElectroG33k
      @ElectroG33k 10 лет назад +1

      not true bud... they are NOT the same chipset. take a look at the model numbers of the proccessor and compare that to qualcomms website... here ill do it for you... and btw you do understand that the htc one also uses DDR2 RAM vs DDR3 in the s5, s4, s3, s2...... yeah...... and as for benchmarks, everyone "cheats" so get over it... www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s5_vs_htc_one_m8-review-1067p5.php

    Over the years, I've had the Samsung S2 and the S4. Both phones were amazing, and have been looking into the Samsung S5 as my next phone. However the HTC One (M8) was recommended by a friend, who currently works for Koodo, and mentioned that the Samsung S5 is more likely to show down in performance overtime. So now I'm currently viewing both phones to see which one best suits my personal preference.
    Thank you very much for your video. It's the best video I've seen so far on comparing the two phones.
    After watching your video, my decision is at a 60 : 40 ratio; Samsung S5 in the lead.

  • @1210Gomez

    Ive owned the Htc one M8 for about a month and ive fallen in love with many features. The style of the phone and especially the boomsound speakers. The camera was also great it took good pictures I didnt complain the pictures were awesome and the camera took instant photos. The only reasons why I didn't like it was because the battery was not removable so if I was ever on a road trip or not accessible to charger I wouldn't be able to swap batteries and also because the screen I would play alot of games and the on touch keys like the menu button and the home button would get in my way alot and would open. So I decided to sell my m8 I did and with the money I oaid the difference and got myself a S5. I noticed the screen looked so much better and bigger due to the compact buttons and not touch buttons. I missed having physical buttons and being able to swap a battery incase my battery dies. ive actually owned both phones unlike many commenters and I cant say one is better than the other but I can say some features are better than the other . The S5 has a nicer and bigger display, the pictures are more sharper, and the keyboard for me at least is easier to use. However the htc has the best sound I have ever heard I mean its literally loud the s5 sounds like crap compared to the m8 and the quality of the m8 is much better. It is heavier but better build quality. They both have great soft wares they both have great processors not one is better than the other their both the same. In my conclusion its whatever your looking for. If you dont care about having an extra battery and if u want better sound for movies music gaming get the m8. For the s5 u can swap out the battery if it dies the display is a bit bigger and looks more vivid and its way slimmer. Their both awesome phones and im honored to have had both. Cheers.

    I suggest that you add the following topics in a smartphone review:
    -When talking about the battery...Can the battery be easily replaced?
    -When describing the apps... Can the apps be installed on the MicroSD card out of the box? (the early versions of the S3 were not able to do it until a patch was available)
    No one is talking about security... why is that? What is the standard security software included and how well it performs? (due to all the IDTheft going on, spam, spyware, etc. security and how each company approaches privacy for the end user are important factors to me.

    Just got my htc one m8 3 days ago upgraded from a htc Evo 4g lte and best choice I ever made I was undecided if to switch to a galaxy but after all the s5 it's just a bunch of new hardware as to the m8 I love the design the front speakers and just overall the experience. Also the camera is not as bad as they say it's actually quite good for normal pictures and really good in low light environments. Currently I'm still debating what case to get and I'm also waiting on my red carbon skin that should make my phone look awesome..

    I used the m8 for two weeks, while my daughter chose to get the gs5. I took mine back yesterday and traded it for an s5. The m8 was a good phone, all-round, but the most impressive feature was the KICKASS speakers on the FRONT. I can't say enough about how awesome they were... however, in the end that was the only thing that made my decision tough in choosing between the two. I mean, really tough... those speakers were amazing, and it was so nice to have them on the front, no longer having to either cup my hand around the speaker in the back (so damn annoying) or use headphones in order to hear. But the s5 won me in the end, with absolutely everything else. Beautiful to look at, excellent picture qualities, incredibly smooth performance, and almost unbelievable speed. They are both fast phones, but to me, the s5 seemed faster, and definitely much smoother in performance. It seemed like the htc one m8, when it got too busy (which was often, as I use my phones very heavily for EVERYTHING) it did start to get a bit sluggish, forcing me to have to do the ol clearing cache, close apps, etc. VERY annoying... but not so much with the s5. In my opinion, the s5 wins, by far. If it hadn't been for those damn speakers on the m8, I would've exchanged it for my gs5 much sooner.

    I like taking pictures with my phone that I have right now (a Samsung Droid Charge), but I also would like a phone that streams media very well. Since the HTC M8 has the two front facing speakers that would make for great Movie and RUclips watching, but the Galaxy S5 still has the better rear camera (im not much of a selfie guy so the HTC's front facing camera wouldnt do much for me) . I would love to have either phone but I think that the Galaxy S5 would be the one that i would pick. This was a great video and I hope that there will be many more like it. :)

    I've been stuck on whether I should use Samsung Galaxy S5 or HTC one (m5). Both seem like something I would joy and love to use. So to me it doesn't matter which one I get. Overall, a fantastic video, good job TechSmartt. You done an outstanding job once again!(:

    How long does it take to charge the m8? I have the m7 and it takes forever. Doubt know to switch to the s5 or m8.

    I was between getting either of these phones from T-mobile this past weeked, I've always been a fan of the Galaxy S- series but the M8's aluminum body and boomsound were just too enticing so I decided to go with that one and now I'm bouncing off the walls as I wait for UPS to deliver it later this week :D

    Love your video, although there are many words I didn't understand as you were speaking way too fast.
    I will be buying the S5 to replace my S4 as the camera on the HTC One (M7 and M8) are not up to par with the competition and this would be one of the main features I use the phone for :)

    Great analysis of both phones, well done! I think I'm going to have to say the Samsung wins just for battery life, and for processing speed... the camera is definitely another plus. I learned a lot thank you very much and I am going to head out now and go buy the s5.

    Thank you for a very informative and unbiased video. Each will appeal to different groups for different reasons. If I win make mine the HTC M8. If I want to take pictures I'll use a digital camera but for the phone capabilities the HTC M8 fits my needs the best.

    Nice comparison video. I'm leaning towards the M8 a little, but which do you prefer? Both platforms seem extremely well matched, just tiny variations here and there, but overall they seem very similar.

    My family has been using ssung phones for a while now, I have and Gs3 and my brother has the Gs4. However, i think it is time to make a change. I am sold on the HTC One (M8) because of the focus feature and also the improved ultrasound front speakers. And in my opinion, the HTC One simply looks better.

    I would buy (and win) the HTC One M8, I love the design, quality, software and the camera is good enough. Mostly I want the M8 because I hate the slimy plastic feel of my current GS3!

    I already have the m7 and I think it's a great phone! HTC seem to have worked on all the minor faults with the m7 E.g battery life, and I think from a design perspective it's the best phone on the market.

    The M8 is drop dead gorgeous! The metal gradient that runs along its back makes it look super refined, sophisticated and sleek. I would love to have a work of art & tech in my pockets! I call dibs on the M8 this time!

    I think you should've mentioned the Dot View Case for HTC M8. I have the M8 with a Dot View Case and does look quite nice. One can see the basic information like time and weather or make a call without opening the case.

    Ugh choosing one is difficult- first I heard that the s5 fingerprint scanner doesn't 100% work all the time! then again I think the htc is a little too heavy for a phone. Wouldn't mind a little help!
