I did my driver side glow plugs today. Not because they are easier but because that's just where I started. This is the first video I've seen on the passenger side. Not too bad. I'll dig into it next weekend.
Good video. Thanks for sharing.
The passenger side is a little harder than the driver side. So I figured if I show the passenger side the driver side would self-explanatory lol. Glad I could help and thank you for watching
There really is no reason to remove the ac unit. That valve cover comes right out with a little finesse
I'm going to be doing this on my 02. Great video
That's awesome thank you for watching and keep wrenching
We just did valve cover gaskets last week, my friend a Ford mechanic did the passenger side . He removed the cover without removing the AC compressor.
If you remove the oil fill pipe . I did the driver side which had already had the under cover harness zip tied. But we noticed the passenger side plug was loose in the gasket. We also replaced the glow plugs while it was apart. 185K on my 2001.
Awesome ... thank you for watching
Thank u, I thought same thing, why remove the ac bs. Valve cover can sneak by it
Thank you!
Thank you for watching
Great video, thank you. Is there a tightening sequence on the valve cover bolts?
Not really I just start in the middle and rotate my way towards the outside bolts ... thank and thank you for watching
Thanks this videos made it easy. Step by step
Glad I could help and thank you for watching
So how did you take the bolt out behind the tensioner pulley without stripping it out with an open end wrench??
I seen your other comment ... thank you for watching
I just got started taking off the valve cover on the passenger side and got stuck.Thank you for this video.
That's why I make video's like this to help out ... thank you for taking the time to write a response and thank you for watching
@@CountryMileGarage i used a swivel bolt like you recommended for the bottom 2 bolts and it worked out great but I am struggling to remove the last back bolt towards the firewall. Would you happen to have another tip that would make a bit easier? All I have is hand tools. Would having a 90 degree agle rachet make it easier?
@@isaaccastro3798 use the same swivel and lay on that engine and take your time ... that last one against the fire wall can be a real bear. Half the time I find them loose because people don't want to tighten them back up lol
?, I just bought a 2000 f350 and the previous owner believes it was a valve cover blow out, does leak and puts down 20 to 30 drops of oil when I turn it off. Runs really good, no loss of pressure , starts right up with 271k miles on it. could there be a bigger problem im not seeing, will get the engine cleaned this weekend.
It can be the valve cover gaskets. Double check and make sure the bolts are in or tight closed to the firewall. I see a lot of people not putting them in or tightening them up. But yes start with cleaning it'll make it easier to find the leak ... thank you for watching
Never mind you gotta flip the wrench around and kick back your tensioner for it to fit ;) hehe
Glad you got it ... hope the video was helpful and thank you for watching
Use this job going to be similar for the E450
It should be but I'm not familiar with a 7.3 in a E series only v10s in E350s lol ... thank you for watching
I'm waiting for a full tilt front end on these trucks. Actually...I wonder if you could have it slide forward on rails? hmmm
like a semi hood ??? thank you for watching
@@CountryMileGarage Exactly...Give the mechanics a break. If they can land on the moon they could make carbon fiber front clips.
@@Dancing_Alone_wRentals I have seen it done on Chevy square body trucks
@@CountryMileGarage Funny. those old engine compartments have so much room you could fit a whole living room set in there and watch the Super Bowl. These new trucks are designed so only mice and squirrels can get in there to work.
Thanks Are those Doorman Gaskets?
It's been a while lol ... but I think they are Dorman. Thank you for watching
Did you break those bolts loose before using your battery ratchet?
No I didn't sometimes they are loose and sometimes they are not even there because people find it to hard to put them back in. Thank you for watching
Thanks for replying! I've got one of those ratchets but the stuff has to be broke loose first. Just finding it hard to keep the socket on with the ujoint while applying pressure to loosen 😅. Would be so much easier if my battery ratchet would get it done. I took a break from it and worked on some other stuff.
@@rigoffear sometimes that's the best thing to do to walk away for a bit. Lot of times if the M12 ratchet doesn't break it loose by pulling the trigger I break it free by hand with that M12 ratchet and then run it out
So I removed my compressor but left everything hooked up, put everything back together and it works great except the compressor clutch isn’t kicking in. Any ideas?
It'll sound silly but double check and make sure the plugs are all the way in ... thank you for watching
@@CountryMileGarage I checked my connections, still can't seem to have any luck. It is just strange.
@@cdrum0032 have you checked your fuses ? And check and see if you get power at the plug. And check and see what happens when you use 2 jumper cables and check if the compressor clutch works
@@CountryMileGarage checked the fuses and diode. I am going to have to confirm power to the plug, and also current pressure on the LP side.
@@cdrum0032 what I normally do is use a relay bypass with a on/off switch on top and put in at the AC clutch relay turn it on and that'll tell you if that circuit is good or not. If that works as it should I unplug the high pressure sensor at the dryer and jump the plug with a wire if the system works the pressure sensor is bad. If not you need to check and see if you get a signal from the cab to the AC clutch relay. Hope this helps
Have you ever done it without removing the AC compressor and bracket?
No I haven't ... you ???
Some old guy has a video of him doing it while leaving the ac in. But he says you have to push back and up at and angle to bypass it.
Im doing this today and will try without if it doesn't fight me too much.
@@CountryMileGarage I've done a half dozen or so and never taken or heard of taking the AC compressor off. Of course I do take off the oil tube on top, which just easily unscrews. Lets you maneuver the cover around a little more.
