Sir, Thank you very much for your great analysis of the current geopolitical situation. You have painted a very dark scenario that can really happen for India. The million dollar question is if the sane and Liberal Democratic people will be able to unite and fight these divisive forces based on vicious religious fundamentalism. We need strong leadership team who can unite India irrespective of religion, caste, creed, and regionalism. This is a huge challenge indeed!

Mr Prabhakar, you did a fine job of analising the ideological under pinning of the emerging scenarios across the globe. Evidently, it is not India specific development in Afghanistan. To examine the problem south asian perspectives ,be it Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran , India will be like taking a tunnel vision of the issue on hand.
Hats off to you for taking a broad picture of Afghan development.

Incisive and brilliant. Parakala should have a broader platform for his views to reach a wider audience. Apocalypse is already hovering around us. But it could be brought about with such frightening speed by the people who matter leaves one stunned and groping. Entire environment would get so horribly vitiated within a short span of half a dozen years could never be imagined. What is more frightening, as Parakala Sir so lucidly articulates is that the people in charge are aware of the disasters that their self-righteous steering of the events would bring about but are smug in the thought that their ilk would not be affected. Parakala deserves our sincere gratitude for his articulation and the concern about an extremely bleak and medieval stone-age future we Indians have in store for us. Wish, Almighty gave us enough sense to focus on issues at hand and work towards harmony, brotherhood, unity, and poverty alleviation rather than making and breaking ourselves. God save the Republic.

I believe it's always better to have the worst case scenario and every week you do bring it to the table! The last question from you could also be changed to say, " does the Indian Polity has the wherewithal and the gumption to overcome the difficulties envisaged by you?" I think more than the political spectrum it should be the sane voices of the citizens, in millions, I am sure, which would prevent these dire consequences.

I feel informed knowledge of religion be it hindu or islam will change the status quo. This means knowing textual criticism, historicity, philosophy associated with the religion. As our nation becomes informed and developed, the polity is exposed to more discourses and dialogues not just in the country but that happening in other countries. I feel this informed knowledge and awareness on religion will abate religious fervor and sentiment. Our nation is demographically diverse, so this would have more significant impact in urban than rural areas. But as location has less significance in a digital world, perhaps informed knowledge could have an equal impact in rural areas.
What I feel is more prevalent in our times is views and expression that are contra to main stream or incumbent narratives. If this can be properly channeled and expressed in light of the risk of being damned as fake news or wokism or naxals or leftist or prevailing phobias (viz; hinduphobia or islamophobia), our polity can perhaps be genuine independent individuals assessing and ascertaining truth from falsehood.
There already significant channels questioning Islamic texts and resources creating awareness.
This will make it's way to Hinduism too....as all religions have to survive these rites of passage to emerge triumphant.
Just as we humans have a test of fire in this life to emerge triumphant

Brilliant analysis, Parakala, as we have come to expect from you. But it understates some issues while overly highlighting some others. First, you have not focused on the emerging Afghan stste. It may not be able to channel the aspirations of its militant, youthful adherents 9f the conservative idrology. You have overemphasized the role of China. I don't think China would have that big a role. It's Pakistan that would be major player and ironically it migHt have to face the consequences of increased militancy on its soil. Your analysis of our domestic situation is quite relevant. The Taliban issue is already being used to sharpen the social divide that the RSS and BJP have been working on for polarising the electorate and reaping political benefits.

Sir, It's an excellent analysis. I am optimistic about the answer to your question. Our great nation will return to a true democracy ensuring freedom of expression, secularism with due respect to all religions and societies and ideologies embracing nonviolence. Our people will elect a true democratic
government .Yes the possibility of a vicious circle of fundamental Islam and Hindu militancy gaining strength and destroying the country as you feared is definitely a possibility. Combined with our irritating attitude of deplomacy towards our next door neighbours, and horrible financial condition, with rising unemployment can worsen the situation of course. Yet Sir I would like to believe " We will overcome". 🙏

Sir your assumptions r distinctly possible. I don't know who's side God is. But I do know God is not on the side of fear, hate, submission, oppression, ostracizing vulnerable people. God is on the side of powerless never approves power mongering minds.
