- Hyderabad posed a difficult challenge in India's integration process. Most of the princely states joined India without much difficulty. But the process was not merely territorial. It is administrative, political, and economic as well. The episode discusses the process and challenges posed by bringing the erstwhile princely states into India Union and forging a modern Republic.

Hey Tamil bro settler of Hyderabad, Mohan Guruswamy, it is Liberation of Hyderabad, whether you agree or not, reason being, people were liberated by the Communists and later by the Govt of India, and then it was integrated into India. It was first liberated, and then it was integrated. Junagadh was not liberated, it was just integrated. Kalvakuntla had once said India forcefully occupied Hyderabad. Telangana Rebellion is for what, was it for liberation or integration, it was for liberation. Occupation by India was for liberation and integration. Mysore was far more advanced than all other princely states in terms of democracy, income, advancement of science and technology.
The privy purse given to the Mysore Maharaja was the highest.
I don't understand why these people are called intellectuals.
They carry certain agenda and present some kind of narrative distorting the actuals.
The people who laid their lifes struggling would be ashamed of these people.
Dasarathi Rangacharya wrote about this in 1960s,1970s that certain people are creating new narrative painting nizam as ideal and erstwhile Hyderabad state as the best.
Nizams rule was despotic religiously oppressive, with no freedom, the kind of oppression from which still Telangana people didn't come out

Good discussion. In next 25 years, south is going to drift away from north and we have ensure that it does not lead to fissiparous tendencies. So decentralization is going to be a big challenge for the country. On one hand, with GST, banking, finance, various welfare measures, common markets etc., we are integrating but politically, we are observing the opposite trend. So either BJP or Congress as one national party dominates or we have autonomy for the states. Going to be quite tough for us.

Articulating of Indian independence movement started decisively after crushing of 1857 revolt, which was articulation of princely states Kingdom association to throw out British. So British officer A O Hume articulated to build socio-political oligarchic structured corporate society's diaspora to spread accross the world by enslaved princely states beurocratic structure by implementing colonial sociology on them. Thus 1885 Congress was created.
Decentralization of power is very important in a country like ours otherwise it would lose all democratic values if at all we have some of them still left

I just wonder how you guys managed to live together with strong opposite mindset.
indian states will dump GST and cut of the oxygen to the center .delhi will have to rely on income tax thus will have incentive to create jobs not consumption.

Prabhakar’s opinions are that way, very relevant. If you perceive ‘dissent’ as ‘dangerous’, that, I would say is the beginning of dictatorial trends.

I was rather disappointed. History of the movement lead by Swami Ramanand Teerth was not mentioned. Discussion was less about the Hyderabad state ruled by the Nizam & was more about the ideas....call it liberation or integration , it was consequence of the popular & secular movement ( keeping it secular was a big challenge ) & police action...
