Got the chance to go to a snare camp that they hosted at Dennison University back in 2008. These guys were amazing and motivating as hell!!! The last day of the camp, they even let us play with the entire line...those guys were our heros
Your team is absolutely too kind. Thank you for your support of the amazing members that made up these amazing lines. Love the beer opening. You should sample that, it’s perfect.
08 was my first year watching a line in the lot and it was this very lot. Went on to be taught by Bryan when I graduated high school. You 08 coats were insane.
That 05 line was groundbreaking for me - I had never seen such a tasty, nuanced, and colorful book prior to seeing them in the lot at San Antonio. If memory serves correctly, I think the 05 video was from the semis lot. We had just finished our first-ever semifinals performance at Mandarins, and they let us loose to go watch other groups after we changed. Of course I went to go seek these guys out to see how much they had improved over the summer. Thanks for the fun trip down memory lane!
@ 20:11 - Drum Corps has surely changed since my day in the late 90s, which I consider to be the last dregs of the "mean days." We heard legendary stories of Garfield Cadets '87 getting up hours earlier than the rest of the corps & as such we felt impelled to either stay up later or get up earlier. But alas, getting up even just an hour earlier proved too painful for me (go ahead & think less of me, at least I was honest). There was only one guy who was able to sneak away most nights after the corps was in bed & find a room in a school where he'd practice. Hmmm.
87 Cadets would stop blocks to play frisbee. There is a clip of Tom Aungst talking about it in our videos. Also on his full podcast we did. I don’t think there is anything wrong some breaks and good fun every now and then. Haha
Think of it like this. Each 16th note partial RR - l - lR - rr / LL - r - rL - ll. Although I’m sure if you RUclips Book Report rudiment it may help clear it up.
I S*** you not, THIS is the video I saw that made me think that the Bluecoats were trying to come up in the world. I predicted a rise then. And I guess I got it right & you all know the rest of history. Was it the addition of Roger Carter to their mix?
Love this video! You guys mentioned Mac's early 2000s Cavs lines, I'd love to see you guys react to their '03 drum feature ruclips.net/video/sNbobTdjdfk/видео.html Thanks for the show!

All these lines were so good. This was a blast to watch!

Hah, yea we love the bluecoats lines you taught and wrote. Iconic is an understatement.
I marched Troop ‘08 and went to almost every Bluecoats lot. An incredible line and book

Thanks for having me on fellas! Always enjoy looking back on some stellar drumlines.
Thanks for hangin out!
Chris, you did a fine job on this podcast brother.
Man. So many stories with these lines. Chris Garay is an awesome dude! Can’t wait for the full podcast!
Incredible years and lines.

Thanks for uploading the clip! And yea. I had forgotten how much we loved 05 and 06 until we watched these.
@@agedoutpodcast you bet! I just got ahold of a working miniDV camera and I’m working on uploading all my lot videos from the years I marched (04-09)!
That’s awesome. Cant wait to see it.
This channel is a great idea in giving commentary on the various drumlines. There are not too many channels doing this.
Yup. That was the goal. Provide something we felt was missing in our activity/community.
@ 13:30... shots fired! I used to love the report or ricochet of our drumlines' (HLD) sound at the end of a phrase. Got me all amped.
You guys should speak on rookie talents for the bluecoats 👏👀😅
Awesome video! Thank you for the “iconic” shoutout. Was so lucky to see some of these shows live.
For sure! Also, our bad for not realizing the 08 clip was yours. Forgot to shout out the channel in the intro 😬
Pretty sure that's Justin Lewis between Jared and Josh. His first year in coats was 05 or 06 I believe
Yea wouldn’t surprise me. He marched coats for longer than I thought. - Mike
Far left (from our view) on the 08 quad feature is Steve Thomas.
Keep these videos going guys, I love watching these react videos.
We plan to. Glad you’re enjoying and thanks for the support 👍
08 was better

Also, homie that paused. Steven said you are one of the best snare players he’s ever seen 👏
Who all is behind the snareline watching? I see Jim Campbell and Thom Hannum. Maybe Erik Johnson?
Which one of you knew Steven Thomas? He was one of my high school instructors growing up. He was a tenor player for the blue coats 06-08
You should watch the Bloo 14 finals lot with Richard Ramos! I bet he’d have a ton of insight about that show
@ 13:36 ... can someone please school me on what a "book report" is?
It’s a paradiddle sticking. Diddle on the first and fourth note of the 16ths. Flam on the third note.
@@agedoutpodcast pattern = "r l r+flam l l r l+flam r r" ?
Think of it like this. Each 16th note partial RR - l - lR - rr / LL - r - rL - ll. Although I’m sure if you RUclips Book Report rudiment it may help clear it up.

Roger didn’t show up there until 2012. This was the Mike McIntosh and Tim Maynard lines.
love all these lines but that 08 was nastyyyy
yesss. these are some of my favorite beats!
btw: Bluecoats should've won drums in 07.
We may or may not agree with that 😂😂
...... No Comment ......
Ayo 502 where you at?
React to cavies 2017 plz
We’ll add it to the list of potential videos to do. Thanks for the suggestion 👍
Love this video! You guys mentioned Mac's early 2000s Cavs lines, I'd love to see you guys react to their '03 drum feature ruclips.net/video/sNbobTdjdfk/видео.html Thanks for the show!
Cavies 2003 was an epic line. Equally as impressive visually and musically. Awesome video.
Yea we have a list of future videos to react to and are always looking for suggestions.
