I thought I was the only one who enjoyed this year that much, literally my top 3 drum line, they’re just 100% stacked on so many levels and the writing complements it
I marched in this snareline and I agree with pretty much everything you guys said! Lots of good takes. Some ticks to be sure, but easily one of the most talented snarelines I was in. Agree 100% on the tuning and Pearl drums - They were actually tuned by one of the guys in the line, Adam Wilson, with the staff touching things up for finals week. He did a really good job and got a lot of articulation while still having some body to the sound. Sounded even better in person! I also remember Ryan Ellis talking about how loud the shots were haha. I'll echo some other comments by saying Cadets were amazing that year too. Cadets, Bloo, SCV and us were all extremely close and any one of those lines could have taken it. It was a great year for percussion!
@@drummersnare6276 Cadets in 15 were absolutely nuts and insane in person. TBH they were probably the same level as BD from the battery side, but the pit from BD got them the drum trophy.
Recent podcast guest Jared Andrews standing in front of that battery! The snares played that opening feature up on the high chairs spread out a bit too.
would love to see yall do a video on BD 2014... i believe it was the year they achieved the highest score ever in finals, yet got all of the awards what it seemed like but didnt win drums - half of the guys in 2015 were on the '14 line and they were playing some pretty aggressive stuff... fast rolls and all... love the content - thanks!
For the Cadets 2015 requests, Massillon Ohio would be the video to react to. The audio in the finals lot Vic firth vids were not great for some reason even though it was the cleanest we played haha. Couple places where the mics weren’t mixed well or something. Or maybe we just sucked! lol
When i had bd staff in DCA, they wrote one of those balancing parts u guys talked aboutWhen i had bd staff in DCA, they wrote one of those balancing parts u guys talked about at 10:35. Fun to play
I think they are going with Ludwig this season but they sound the same or similar to the System Blue drums. personally i think this season their drums sounded better than any other season
I believe the first time BD did that metric speed exchange between snares and tenors was in 2000 during the middle of the opener when they first started using Dynasty drums. Minute mark 4:13 ruclips.net/video/plSou41d-2k/видео.html
Wow, what a great find. 2000 and 2001 BD were the first tour videos I ever owned. Haven’t watched them in so long though. The pit accel in 2000 show is so sick. -Evan
@@agedoutpodcast Dude, that’s probably the best part of that show, the pit accel. I was actually their sitting in the first level on the 35 yard line watching that finals show. Their 96 tour video is the first tour video I ever owned and that was my introduction to DCI, 96 Blue Devils, I’ve been a BD fan ever since and always will be. 01 BD was really cool too, that was a good drumline, they deserve more credit than they were given for that year.
I’m interested to see what year you guys think is a down year for drums or corps in general? Like 2007 with bd, they’re were clear winners in drums and corps but are there any years that you guys see where it wasn’t as good in the 2010 years or even earlier I’ve been watching dci and wgi for a long time I mean I went back and there are banner years for some corps but I’m interested to hear from guys and gals who were in the activity and from people who weren’t good enough to march at a high level but still follow.
@@dylanwedde I was actually referring to the Ludwig Ultimate snare drums and not the maple/carbon System Blue Drums that Ludwig was supposedly making for them now. I do think RCC sounded better on them but I'd still prefer the Ludwig Ultimate snare drum.
You guys are kind of BD haters - this statement based on several of your BD videos, not this one in particular. (I admit I'm a BD lover.) There are several components on which to focus when accessing drumlines: vocab, rhythmic modulation, dynamics, GE, difficulty, and cleanliness. BD basically owns the first four and sometimes the fifth, but never to an extreme deficit of the fifth, year after year. And, they consistently clean up by the end of the season year after year (my spectator experience in 2019). If we don't have the first four components (respectively), for what good is the activity? Lines (corps) could play HS level stuff and be fan favorites (think BC 2019), and next thing you know we have winning corps playing elevator versions of pop du jour. Pass on that.

"They'll play something you would hear in a high school, and then something no one else could do" hhahahha

The entire snare line has either been with Blue Devils for at least a season or came from another corps like Crown and Bluecoats.
That metric speed swap or whatever you wanna call it between snares and quads is NUTS! Super cool effect and o have also never noticed that
Blue Devils 2015 was the first BD line I watched and I still think it's one of the best lines blue devils put out that past decade
"Something you would hear in a high school and then something no one else can do" Spot on lmao
I had this drum line on my mind for a couple weeks so it’s pretty neat that you guys are reacting to them. My favorite BD book of the decade
Might be mine too - Mike
One of my favorite lines of all time - book and overall battery tuning scheme is awesome
You guys should definitely react to Cadets 2015, IMO the most underrated line that year.
Definitely, they had 10 snares that year for their show the power of 10, they were cleaner than most other lines too lol
@@drummersnare6276 Cadets in 15 were absolutely nuts and insane in person. TBH they were probably the same level as BD from the battery side, but the pit from BD got them the drum trophy.
@@kietey14 yeah, their snares were tuned pretty low so it hid some dirt but still really good and challenging book
First time I heard that metric speed up/slow down jam from them was in 2000 (favorite show ever) 🤘🏽

Could you do a crown 2019 react during these off season vids?
Hmm, I feel like they’ve already done a video on them, not 100% sure though
Top 5 favorite lines of the 2010s for me.
Incredibly good

Fun fact: the average age of this line was the same age, if not slightly younger than this years line haha.
I hate it when the quads are behind the snares, but some good stuff in there!
Personally, I’m a fan of this line 🤌🏻
I miss when they used to use pearls, but you guys should maybe react to SCV 2016! They won drums even though they didn’t make too 3

Yup, definitely forgot about this. 😳 Holy crap. #pearlforeverforeverpearl
Yo - ya'll should do Cadets 15 vs this video. I'll hop on :)
You guys should react to the Old Guard Fife and Drum corps drumline

I love your reactions and commentary, you should do cadets 2015, in the lot Finals next
“Cadets 2015 drumline quality audio” is the closer, “in the lot finals” is the opener” btw
React to 2014 BD
2015 was peak Drum Corps
Those 4s🔥🔥🔥

Can you do crown 2019?
I may have missed some comments but didn't BD win drums in 2019 on system blue? I prefer Pearl myself. They resonate a lot more.
They were first on finals night in 2019 but Vanguard won the Sanford that year
@@Mattyfear gotcha gotcha 👍🏾
Hopefully they dump the System Blue Snares. I remember RCC went the Ludwig basses and tenors but kept those horrible snare drums.
ludwig snares look a lot like system blue snares. same look, different sound. i was confused at first too

They did not win one finals show. 2nd 2nd 2nd and won drums overall
The were 2nd on prelims and semis night. But they were 1st in percussion on finals night.
