Idea for a future podcast: How does Rennick and his protoges always get such an amazing sounding set of tenors? Get him or any one of this staff/former staff on the show to discuss PLEASE! The tuning is exquisite and warm with the best overtones. This must be dissected. All the corps must learn this secret.
Check out Phantom this year. The battery arranger marched tenors and the caption head marched snare for Rennick. Their drums sound great! As Evan mentioned, there's something about the Rennick tuning scheme + Pearl that is oh so sweet
@@EricTheMusicNerd if you remember, SCV was still using Pearl when Rennick arrived in 2011. He made them sound pretty much identical to the DyNASTYs when he was with Phantom. He switched SCV to Dynasty the following year
oh man I haven't thought about this for 30 years but my quadline used to laugh and get so much of a kick out of doing that visual at 7:54. we called it the "peepers" visual.we also said "peepers" in a high pitched voice when we did it. so silly
Well Troopers might be my surprise ensemble this year. This book sounds like it would be a lot of fun to play and march. Also, didn't know Evan could see the future. E: "I could see where that phrase was going."

All the corps know the secret, they just opt for different sounds
Snares, too. Especially the quality of the "thwack" his tuning accomplishes on rimshots.

I could be wrong, but it seems like a lot of Camp Rennick play Pearl drums. Perhaps that's the secret? Well tuned Pearls just sound so good.

They got 3rd in drums at NightBeat, beating Crown, Mandarins and Cavies. Not too shabby.

The omnitrix visual is hard as nails
I absolutely love this book! Saw them at nightbeat and they blew me away with their consistency and vibe.
This is a great drumline, and it's not close.
For the algorithm. ✊
My opinion my favorite books this year are
1. Phantom
2. Troopers
3. Boston
4. SCV
5. BD
😈For The Troopercussion Algorithm!🤠
Didn't troopers take the knights' spot in the top 12? Same with the mandarins they're in the top 12 I'm pretty sure. Proud of these guys
Troopers took 12th in '22. They took 10th last year. Right now they're hovering in that 9-10 slot.
Am I tripping or does their book have no sub-section solos? Or maybe it's so many notes I lost track.
Edit: It's @3:15 slower tempos lulling me fs
Best part of the day pt 9
Hey yall, just wanted to say there is a typo in the description saying this is crown and not troop. GO TROOP
The ole copy and paste error. Thanks!
