The fact that you informed us that the UK Kraken was 7% less than the North American Kraken earned you a subscription from me straight away. Then you impressed me even further by doing a ginger beer comparison (ginger beer is my favorite nonalcoholic beverage ever) and blind taste test. Excellent video mate. Cheers! 👍👍

Here in México a bottle of Kraken is between 150/200 pesos, like £ 5.37 / £7.17 but is only 35% Still the best you can get for that price point

Hi Steve, I only buy a replacement Kraken when discounted to £20 as it is from time to time, especially in Tesco (with club card), Morrisons and Sainsburys. I use it in my earliest favourite cocktail, A Right Hand Twist. From 2020 summer Waitrose paper Rum insert. London barman: 40ml Kraken, 25ml Sweet Vermouth, 25ml Campari, 5ml PX sherry. Stirred with ice, poured over a rock in double old fashioned, orange zest oils and put in glass. The only use for my Kraken though I no longer call it rum after your tutorial.
I have a bottle of Havana Club Spiced only used for a sip, but never seen it in a cocktail recipe.

Thanks, I like Kraken in the USA. Have you have ever considered doing a video on the different island rums ie Jamaican rum vs Barbados vs Guyana other and what do you think are the best from each area? Might be worth looking at as I think it would be fun.
yeah, I've got plans like this. I kinda wanna do a deep dive Country to Country first. Then see how they stack up against each other. Not quite sure how to work it. But thats the plan. Jamaican Rums are up first!
Loved this review, big fan of the channel Steve haha👏 there's a rum i discovered not too long ago its called Don papa rum, not sure if its rum or spiced rum but I find it tastes beautiful maybe its worth a review? It would certainly be interesting to see your opinion of it ha its from the Phillipines I think
Don Papa, is an awkward one. Heavily Sweetened. its deffo Legally NOT a Rum. It's a Spirit Drink... actually verging on Spiced. Rumour has it, Orange flavour is added post distillation. Even Waitrose and M&S sell it as a "Spiced Rum".

I know it's not a supermarket rum, but the closest I've found to the British version of sailor Jerry's is green Island spiced

Could you review Juggling King Rum. It’s a seed to bottle rum from Guernsey. Think it’s the only of it’s kind in the British Isles! They’re also making a dark spiced rum and flavoured rums.

You should see if you could interview their master distiller, sure they'd love the promotion as it's a small distillery!
how funny as I've a bottle of Salford and like it, I've drank kraken neat but prefer seadog in my dark and stormy, better get to lidl as not tried the liberty and Salford cost me 26pound! really good to watch

You said you couldn't get the American 47% proof version, I have personally acquired the litre bottles when on the ferry to france on several occasions.
I've always been partial to Captain Morgan Black for spiced rum. I don't drink spiced rum very often any more though as I've gotten much more in to rum and have been drinking much better stuff.
Don’t worry, the proper Rums are coming now. I juggled this video about off the back off one that exploded a few weeks ago. I’ve got a £20 “premium” White Rum Vid dropping tomoz. Then I’m going down a Jamaican Rum rabbit hole for a few weeks.

I'm not an expert on these matters, but my suspicion is that the heavy froth indicates the presence of aspartame or another artificial sweetener. Also, I can recommend Morrisons "The Best" ginger beer over Fentimans all day long.
That’s a really good shout, but looking at the brand, I’d say it was the other way round…it didn’t have any of that. Cos when I did the recent Black Rum Video, they all frothed up too. And there’s no way Myers, Goslings etc has aspartame. But I’m really intrigued now you’ve said it. As for the GB, I hate Fentimans with a passion. I’ll never use it.

Probably more Dark Spiced Rums. Me personally, I wouldn't have it with Normal Spiced Rums.

I've just tried the 'Golden Spiced Rum' from 'Liberte'. It's actually pretty good. It's an obvious Sailor Jerry rip off but in my opinion, way better than the current version of SJ. It's more like the old version of SJ, plus it's 40%. At £15 a bottle, bargain.
And it's off to Lidl we go!!!

STEVE!!! This is interesting. Lidl and Aldi does NOT sell rum here in the U.S. I think Costco might sell rum, but I'm not sure. I like this comparo. Kraken and ginger beer is something I need to try!! Great video!!! CHEERS!!!!
Great video, and if there are alternatives then good but in Ontario Canada there is not much. Let's talk offline and I'll get you a proper Kraken to bump up the flavours. Cost wise it would be 18 pounds in conversion so closer to the winner, yet 47 abv and a little less sugar (I think 26g per litre for the 40% but 19g per litter for 47%).
Yeah… I can never find the UK sugar. But, I have heard it’s a lot more than the 47%. Stands to reason.
Iv been to the master of malt website….it looks fake ….is it real and what’s the uk average delivery time ?

I had already tried the Lidl version and, whilst it’s OK, the taste quickly disappears after the swallow IMO. My son likes it with coke though.
Yeah…look. Let’s not kid ourselves, these (Inc Kraken) are the lowest end of the Spice Rum world. They wouldn’t even make my Top 50. But the point was Kraken is probs the biggest Supermarket Spiced Rum. And on that point…Lidl is waaaay better and £8.50 cheaper!

I have been offered a bottle... haven't acted on it yet. It'd be more of a Live stream comparison to be honest... cos zero point in a Video, cos if its waaaaaaay better, all the UK fans will be up in arms...and we just can't get it!

Not sure how it converts to british pounds, but the one good thing about pennsylvania is being able to buy a fifth for about $18 USD. Not quite sure why it is so cheap here though. I know some states it approaches 30+USD

We are. But our Duty and Tax ain’t. Basically, they’ll be making close to £10 a bottle extra simply by bringing the ABV down… it’s just simple Business Economics.
