Being Danish, it's just really fun for me to hear that buildings from 1736 are old. It just really put things in perspective for me, because that is just everyday happenings here in Denmark - but it is special for you. It reminds me not to take the history around me for granted. I live in a city, founded as a fortress back in the mid 1600's and it's a fairly young city. Mind baffling!

Becky, these videos are bittersweet for me because I lost my mom to cancer 4 years ago (she was in her 60's) and we used to go on adventures like this all the time. Right down to the stopping for iced tea (though we preferred Wendy's and Sonic 😉). Whether it was a flight to another city or a short drive to a national park for hiking or to a town a few hours away with good stores and restaurants. I love that you have a similar laughter filled and joyful relationship with your mom. Please say yes to all those adventures while you have each other.

Hey Becky I'm an Indian, and those small fried sticks that you Mom liked in the first appetizer is called 'Bhujia' and the biggest brand in India that sells those are Haldirams... You can find them in any Indian grocery stores near you... Also the fermentation smell is probably from tamarind chutney (not sure)
@@gabygarcia8367 pretty sure the dish they ate is called Bhel Puri... It takes about 3/4 mins to make.... You just put everything together and mix 🤣 ... I've lived here for half a decade, and while I love going to the farmers markets, I have never been to the caverns. You've inspired me to get out more!

I live in North Carolina so it’s a little closer, but I hope to see you and a bunch of other people there next year I can’t wait!
Hey Becky 👋 If you grow Rapini, make sure you plant it at the very beginning and near the end of your growing season when it is cool because Rapini has a tendency to bolt if the weather is too hot. I made this mistake two years in a row but I finally had success this year when I planted in the beginning of the season. Loved going to Virginia with you and your mom!🤗
@@tracycrider7778 I direct sow as early as possible in spring and then again for a fall crop. If there is too much heat at any time, then cover your plants partially to shade them but so they still get some air.
Becky, you will always cherish this time you're spending with your mom....and dad. I wrote to a commenter, who lost her mother 4 years ago, and they used to do all kinds of adventures together, that spending that quality time, and have good, happy memories, is like having a warm blanket on a cold night. Too many families have nothing but hurtful, angry memories. We, who have great relationships with our parents, need to remember how blessed we are.
I love that you had so much fun in my old hometown! I absolutely loved it there and im glad you got to enjoy all our local resturaunts and farmers markets 🙂
This is my kind of trip! I love not planning a trip and just going off the cuff. Coffee shops are great- I get more done at a coffee shop then at home! Blessings to you all
Every time I watch you, I always want to ask you for a hair tutorial, I am terrible at putting my hair up and I love the way you do your hair in the back. 😁🤍
Looks like you two had a wonderful time together. Glad you got to see the cave and another farmers market. Such a beautiful part of the country. Take care and God bless.

We are big flannel sheets fans here so definitely invest in a set especially since winter is approaching. We get some every year from Costco and put them on our bed from fall thru winter, so much warmer! I love the friendship you have with your mom makes me excited to someday have that with my own two little girls as they get older. Have a blast at HOA can't wait to see the video of it!
I love watching your videos. This one in particular touched my heart more than any other... you & your mom remind me so much of me & my mom. My mom's been gone for 8 years this November. I miss her so much and you two reminded me of so many fun times we'd had together. ❤ May God bless you both!!
It looked like you and your mom were having a great time. Virginia is beautiful… I have lived here for 3 years and love it. When you drove to that cooking class…you were only 10 minutes from my home in Ashburn. Just so you know Ashburn is in Virginia and so is the airport you went to… Dulles… Reagan Airport is the one located in DC. I’m so disappointed that I didn’t know about the conference until last week because it would have been so much fun to hang out with you and your mom! You both are just so sweet and a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing your vacation with us!❤️🥰
My husband and I had an amazing time at the HOA and are planning on attending next year. We are only about a 3.5 hr drive away. We saw you at the conference but you were busy talking. We attended talks all day both days and learned a ton. Hopefully we will get to meet next year!
I couldn’t imagine traveling with my Mom because we don’t have a close relationship like you two do.. but I love watching how much fun you have and how great you both get along 😊 puts a smile on my face
I have never traveled to Virginia and now I want to go!! It is so beautiful! Thank you for bringing us alongside you and your mom on your adventure. It was fun!!
Hi Becky, Welcome fellow “Washingtonian”…I’m from DC.😂 Dulles is actually in Fairfax, but DC gets credit for many things in MD and VA, thus we’re often called DMV.😊
Hi Becky The pasta from your mom is calling SPAGHETTI CACIO E PEPE And you just need Spaghetti, some pasta water, pecorino, salt and loooooots of pepper. It’s super easy and jimmy 🤤 Best wishes from Germany, enjoy your trip
I love it when you have your Mom in your your videos, she is so fun to watch and hear her stories. She is a natural and you both seem to have lots of fun together.. Excited to see more videos of your trip.
Glad you got to see more this trip. If you come back again next year you might enjoy a day at Mt. Vernon or Monticello if you enjoy old architecture and they have awesome gardens from their respective time periods. Monroes house and Madison’s houses are smaller. Love the east coast history.
Great to see you and your Mom traveling together and having. some relaxing fun!!! You have a wonderful family, Becky and Josh, a team to help you when that new baby arrives!!!
Becky, so glad that you and your Mom enjoyed your visit to my home state, I'm about 30 minutes from where the HOA (as the crow flies)...lol. I wasn't able to go this year, tickets had already sold out before I found out the date for it. Keeping my finger's crossed for next year's conference. Nall's Farm Market is an awesome farm market and glad that you enjoyed our fabulous old style homes and our fabulous restaurants. Maybe next year I will get to see you(and possibly baby with you). Much Love from the Lover's State. BTW, Dulles isn't technically in D.C, it's in Virginia as well as Reagan National Airport...lol.❤ EDIT to add that we have the Shenandoah Caverns, The Luray Caverns and The Endless Caverns all within about an hour radius of where you were.😉🥰
So glad to see you both in my neck of the woods. We've been to Shenandoah mountains and the cavern many times. The Skyline Drive has some amazing vistas to enjoy. I have not been to the west coast, but we have visited a lot on the east coast. It was really nice to see the area through your eyes, that makes me appreciate it even more. Thank you for sharing this travel adventure, and please hug your mom for me. My mom passed in 2019 and really miss her. Your mom reminds me a lot of her.
Your mom is reminding me of Miriam from Virgin River… could be the hair and glasses or the way she talks. I am new to your channel and loving it. I really like your style of cooking and reusing ingredients. We also just moved into our dream property and you’re inspiring me to plan a garden. I’ve already ordered apple trees. 😊
Hi becky...wanted to thank you for being so nice to my wife at the Homesteaders conference...she recognized you at one of the meetings (Moody, I think) and you and your mother sat with us. Hello, I live in Newport News, VA. And I’m happy that you got a chance to visit the caverns. I really enjoy watching you and your mom experiencing what good things life have to offer. You have a very loving, caring mom. Hello Susan! Becky I am happy and excited for you and what God has in store for you and Josh. Thank you for the videos. I really enjoy them. I thank you for the zucchini bread recipe, very tasty. I shared them with my mom. God bless you!
The green and white squash is called Cushaw. It is from the pumpkin family. You can use it to make sweet or savory dishes. We fry it like cubed potatoes or make Cushaw pie.
That's my hometown! The area is amazing!! Middleburg is the cutest little town. I have the best memories of riding through there at Christmas as seeing all of the decorations
I am an Indian. I watch your canning videos a lot. In India we don’t can food at homes. We usually eat fresh fruits and veg which are in season. I enjoy your garden and cooking videos. You should try a batch of butter chicken and can them. ❤
Oh my gosh I am so excited to see you got to go with your mom for some girl time in before the baby comes! I love your relationship! I love that AirBNB! I feel like I really need a vacation in a cabin in the mountains 🏔 sooo relaxing 😌
Broccoli rabe, also known as rapini, is not a broccoli derivative at all and is instead more closely related to the turnip. It's a bitter green, similar to a mustard green, with thin stalks, little buds, and lots and lots of leaves. It's very common in Italian and Chinese cooking. Virginia is such a beautiful state, with so much history and so much to see. All of the federal museums and buildings are free to visit. So glad you had such a nice trip with your Mom ! Fun Fact : Dulles Airport is in northern Virginia, about an hour drive (25 miles/ 40 km) from Washington DC. Reagan Washington National Airport is also not in DC. It's in Arlington, Virginia right near the border of DC. (If you were seeing open land and exits to Dulles Airport you definitely were NOT in DC. 😉 )
Adding clarity here with science: Traditional heading broccoli is Brassica oleracea var. italica Rabe/Rapini is Brassica ruvo Turnips is Brassica rapa subsp. rapa Mustard greens is Brassica juncea Cabbage is Brassica oleracea var. capitata Cauliflower is Brassica oleracea var. botrytis Brussel sprouts is Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera Bok Choi is Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis Kale is Brassica oleracea var. sabellica

Thank you Becky for posting your dad's new channel. Have already listened to 3 of his videos I love his messages. Love watching your channel and always checking for new uploads. God bless you, your dad, and family. Both of your channels are a blessing to me. Thank you.
So thoughtful to record while on your trip. It must have been disruptive, and a hassle aside from limiting your alone time with mom. Can't wait to see you in the labor and delivery room. 😄
FYI: Nepal is a beautiful and separate, stand-alone country which is not part of India. Nepalese cuisine is a unique fusion of the many countries surrounding them. Various types of curries, butter chicken and flat breads (including naan) are common in many of the Asian countries and are unique to each of their cultures.

Hey girl, I put my coffee in the fridge too! By the way just wanted to tell you how wonderful you are you keep my spirits high you have such a great attitude toward everything in life. I love you’re saying, “and that’s OK” i’m so happy you decided to vlog some of your experience at the HOA. I just learned about it this year from you and Faith family home stead, and now I’m wanting to go next year. I live in North Carolina so it’s a little closer, but I hope to see you and a bunch of other people there next year I can’t wait!
Hey Becky, Be safe & enjoy your trip. Blessings to you & the baby.🙏
The caverns are beautiful!
Do you direct sow or start seedlings inside first?
@@tracycrider7778 I direct sow as early as possible in spring and then again for a fall crop. If there is too much heat at any time, then cover your plants partially to shade them but so they still get some air.
@@Yahuahsword thank you so much 💜
@@tracycrider7778 You are very welcome 😊
Becky, you will always cherish this time you're spending with your mom....and dad. I wrote to a commenter, who lost her mother 4 years ago, and they used to do all kinds of adventures together, that spending that quality time, and have good, happy memories, is like having a warm blanket on a cold night. Too many families have nothing but hurtful, angry memories. We, who have great relationships with our parents, need to remember how blessed we are.
I love that you had so much fun in my old hometown! I absolutely loved it there and im glad you got to enjoy all our local resturaunts and farmers markets 🙂
Your mom is so sweet, thank you for taking me along I had a wonderful time 😄💫💞
This is my kind of trip! I love not planning a trip and just going off the cuff. Coffee shops are great- I get more done at a coffee shop then at home! Blessings to you all
You and your mom have such a great relationship. You guys are so lucky to live with such wonderful people everyday.
Every time I watch you, I always want to ask you for a hair tutorial, I am terrible at putting my hair up and I love the way you do your hair in the back. 😁🤍
Green and white crook neck is a cushaw and and makes the best pumpkin pie.......EVER! We never harvested ours till after the first frost.
Looks like you two had a wonderful time together. Glad you got to see the cave and another farmers market. Such a beautiful part of the country. Take care and God bless.
Becky thanks for taking us on your little journey . I'm sure you'll meet a bunch of your fans . This is right up your alley everything you love . I'm glad your mom's there to keep you company and share this with you . Have fun and enjoy your time .
I just love the relationship you and your mom have. You guys are some true foodies! My mom and I aren’t the closest but this video makes me want to ask her if she would want to go thrifting, flower plant shopping and lunch. You’ve inspired me! 💜🙏🏽. You all have a fabulous time! 💜
I so enjoyed you and your mom in this video. You two are totally cute together! I live in South Carolina so it’s nice to have you on the East coast!
Absolutely love your mom's natural hair!! Two beautiful ladies. Hope you had a great time.
I have never traveled to Virginia and now I want to go!! It is so beautiful! Thank you for bringing us alongside you and your mom on your adventure. It was fun!!
You two traveling together is absolutely adorable 😍!!!!
Thanks so much for taking us along! I’m sure it makes it a lot more work but I really enjoyed traveling along with you both!
The mom and pop shops are ALWAYS the best! Everytime I travel, I found a few 😀
Pam here again….LOVE LOVE LOVE you and your mom together in videos. She is lovely and such a treasure to you…can see how she influenced you!!
Hi Becky, Welcome fellow “Washingtonian”…I’m from DC.😂 Dulles is actually in Fairfax, but DC gets credit for many things in MD and VA, thus we’re often called DMV.😊
Hi Becky
The pasta from your mom is calling SPAGHETTI CACIO E PEPE
And you just need Spaghetti, some pasta water, pecorino, salt and loooooots of pepper.
It’s super easy and jimmy 🤤
Best wishes from Germany, enjoy your trip
I love it when you have your Mom in your your videos, she is so fun to watch and hear her stories. She is a natural and you both seem to have lots of fun together.. Excited to see more videos of your trip.
Glad you got to see more this trip. If you come back again next year you might enjoy a day at Mt. Vernon or Monticello if you enjoy old architecture and they have awesome gardens from their respective time periods. Monroes house and Madison’s houses are smaller. Love the east coast history.
Love the video. Thanks for taking us alone. And sharing all things. Take care. Peace.
Great to see you and your Mom traveling together and having. some relaxing fun!!! You have a wonderful family, Becky and Josh, a team to help you when that new baby arrives!!!
Beautiful video, Becky. So nice of you and your mother to share this experience us. Thank you!
So fun and special that you and your mom are doing this together. My mom is 89 now, so sadly likely to happen anymore. Precious times together...
Wow the caves were so cool!
Enjoyed watching you and your Mom having unplanned adventures! So much fun!! My mom passed several years ago and I really miss her.
BTW, Dulles isn't technically in D.C, it's in Virginia as well as Reagan National Airport...lol.❤ EDIT to add that we have the Shenandoah Caverns, The Luray Caverns and The Endless Caverns all within about an hour radius of where you were.😉🥰
You two made my evening. I needed a break from lists and this was a perfect way to spend my time. Thank you!
What a lovely time with your mom. Made me cry because I miss these times with my mom.
"That bad josh" is not what I thought your mum was going to say lol I love watching you two together
Hi becky...wanted to thank you for being so nice to my wife at the Homesteaders conference...she recognized you at one of the meetings (Moody, I think) and you and your mother sat with us. It might of been the highlight of the Homesteaders conference for her
Once again, thank you for being so sweet and for acknowledging her.

Your mom is precious. Enjoy your time with her.
Seeing you together reminds me of how much I miss my mom. My BFF, born on her birthday. 💓
I loved watching you two having so much fun! Virginia is a beautiful state! Those sunset shots were so pretty!! Thank you for sharing!
Adding clarity here with science:
Traditional heading broccoli is Brassica oleracea var. italica
Rabe/Rapini is Brassica ruvo
Turnips is Brassica rapa subsp. rapa
Mustard greens is Brassica juncea
Cabbage is Brassica oleracea var. capitata
Cauliflower is Brassica oleracea var. botrytis
Brussel sprouts is Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera
Bok Choi is Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis
Kale is Brassica oleracea var. sabellica
@@tjeanvlogs9894 thanks for that , makes things much simpler when you have exact names for things imo
All the best Jules
You are so lucky to have your Mom to come along on these things. I lost my Mom before I got passionate about homesteading. My only regret is that I waited so long I can't share any of it with her. She would have loved it. I love seeing you with your Mom.
The stuff they ordered were of Indian origin.
@@moumuooo.o2283 Yes, hence the term "fusion"
Hello Becky and mum thank you for sharing your vlog much appreciated by us all
Can I say Becky I don't have my mum around anymore she died eight years ago and I still miss her so much
Becky
Keep your mum close
She's your rock
We love her and yourselves so much xxxx ❤️ 💗 💓 💖
Love seeing you and your Mom together! How fun to be able to do the trip together!
Wife and I saw you there at the HOA and wanted to say hello to you and introduce ourselves but you were so surrounded with everyone else in our sort of extended family. I have to tell you, like you, my wife is also an excellent self taught food conosuer and I get hungry watching you do your thing. We are also avid gardeners with laying hens and very much enjoy and appreciate that aspect of your feeds.🌈😃🤙
How fun! So many have gone to the HOA conference, I'm so glad to see you have gone as well! So much fun! That was probably a fun cross country trip! ♥️♥️
Becky my sister lives in the Shannondoah Valley she has a beautiful home with a clear creek running across the back of her property. The entire area is absolutely stunning!
I am so glad you enjoyed visiting Virginia! My home state! The area of Virginia you visited is so beautiful year round. It is one of my favorite areas to visit.
Your mom is so sweet. Makes me miss my mom. ❤️
