    Ripple for kids has 8 grams protein, 8 grams of fat, and 8 grams of carbs. For those parents looking for another plant based alternative. Appreciate all the info.

    I use one formulated for kids wich has DHA in it. I find it both at my local Target and Wholefoods.

    My daughter is 12 months. She has been on breastmilk since she was born. Now I wanted to wean her and give her formula which I tried and she doesn't want to take it. She eats yoghurt. I will try her on cow's milk. Thanks Doc. Atleast now I understand that milk is a just supplement especially if baby is eating well and that I don't have to force the milk...

    Our babe (10mo) has cmpa but lately seems not to react to snacks containing traces of milk. I still have some low aha goat milk formula as well as soy formula (both organic, swiss) I think I'll soon start giving those and see how She does. The pediatrician said Just try in the morning and observe. I like the idea of supplementing One bottle per day for when my milk is low or She Is too tired and didn't eat her meal. She now occasionally has diluted cashews/oat milk, maye 1dl per day. I Just add hot water to the cold beverage before a nap if I have no breatmilk.

    My son is 13m old and he drinks 4-5oz liquid at a time. A friend recommended morning bottle and evening bottle and water at meals and snacks. Hes not really interested in yogurt sometimes cheese. I give 2oz water after each meal and snack time (he sometimes doesnt want snacks) sometimes with some prune Puree. Hes been constipated the last month ½ since fully starting solids and switch to lactose free whole milk. He was on medical dairy broken formula from bad skin and weight issues younger. Since the prune and fiber foods dont help enough hes back on miralax 1/4 cap to 8oz but he only does 4oz at a time so i eyeball 1/8 to 2 waters. Hes been going through the sleep regression as well and maybe now going back to regular 2 naps and night sleep. We offer his cup but he drinks with head down me holding it. Just switched him off a bottle to a sippy cup while hes learning to use a straw to get off sippy when he does. Hes 17lbs and doing weight checks more than usual baby visits. Last two nights he has kinda of barely ate his dinner and expected his milk bottle before bed (i brush and paci for bed not give it to him in crib). Is there a better way to do the milk and is he doing enough or should i change it? Dr said 16oz in 24oz is max so idk if thats what he has to do since aap says on google or if the 10oz is good. He loves bread pancakes and pasta (try to sneak fruits or veggies in it) etc and has been eating more food but still very painful pooping and tummy pain

    • @pedsdoctalktv9960
      @pedsdoctalktv9960  11 месяцев назад

      There is no minimum amount of milk that a toddler HAS to take. It all depends on their overall diet, if they are eating diverse foods with good protein/fat/calcium intake many toddlers don't need to drink milk. I'd discuss with your child's clinician how to manage the constipation. Often children don't eat as well if they're constipated/uncomfortable. Check out this podcast for more info on toddler constipation: pedsdoctalk.com/podcast/how-to-approach-toddler-constipation/

      If your toddler doesn't like whole milk you can mix half formula/half whole milk and slowly increase volume of milk to ease the transition until fully whole milk. And there's no certain amount of time to space milk from meals, ideally you'll transition to a schedule where they drink milk with meals and water in between!

He always got distracted while drinking milk so we started giving him milk while he asleep. It worked before because he was taking more naps but now he only takes one nap during the day. Now when we try giving him milk while awake he cries and refuses the bottle. He’s not drinking enough milk during the day. We are substituting with milk in cereals or other ways. It’s not one of my preferred cow milk alternatives for toddlers due to its overall low amount of calories, fat and protein compared to other options like pea milk

    Dear sis, can you please suggest how to introduce an exclusively breastfed toddler to cow milk.....have tried a lot but always refuses

    • @pedsdoctalktv9960
      @pedsdoctalktv9960  Год назад

      It’s often easiest to start with a daytime feed. So if you usually breastfeed after lunch, offer milk in a cup with lunch. Give options when you can (which cup do you want to use? Etc) and hold boundaries. If they get frustrated they want to breastfeed remind them of the next time they’ll breastfeed but continue to calmly offer milk. Once they do well with that feed continue with other feeds you want to transition. For some toddlers it take a while to slowly transition them, some catch on more quickly but if you calmly, consistently offer milk they’ll begin to learn the new schedule

    Hi doc,my baby is turning 16 Month and I still give her 240ml Toddler formula before her nap and sleep,if she wakes up middle of the night,she will have e a bottle as well,is that okay for a 16 Months old?

    • @pedsdoctalktv9960
      @pedsdoctalktv9960  11 месяцев назад

      Most otherwise healthy babies are ready to drop all middle of the night feeds by this age which can help promote dental health as well. I encourage dropping bottles by 18 months at the latest for the reasons discussed in the video. Best of luck!!

    When you change a formula bottle (before bed) to cows milk, do you still put it in a bottle as you did formula?

    • @pedsdoctalktv9960
      @pedsdoctalktv9960  Год назад

      You can keep it in a bottle or if they are already drinking well from a sippy cup, switch to giving milk out of the sippy cup too. Some babies do fine switching from formula to cows milk and bottle to sippy cup at the same time. For others it's more of a gradual transition and they do better making one transition before the other. Either option Is ok!

    Can you mix whole milk with water to transition ? For breastfed baby and no pumped milk available.

    We tried a 10% whole milk - 90% formula to start weaning our grandson from the formula with no success. He is one year old and we're thinking going cold turkey will be our only option.

      Yes when they're over 11-12 months can do this to help transition to cows milk (or milk alternative)

    Hi there doc. I watched a bunch of your videos I luv ya. I’ve been doing a splash of unsweetened soy with breast milk to my 11 month old to start slowly transitioning. Just watched a jill castle vid and it scared me cause she was saying that soy can’t compete with the fat level of cows whole milk and the micronutrients like phosphorous etc. My baby is on the slim side so I’m esp sensitive to the fat issue. Looks like this Silk brand soy has about ¾ protein and fat as the whole milk and comparable vit a, d, and calcium. Any thoughts ? We don’t drink cows milk and it does seem unnatural to me it always upset my stomach a little so that’s why I was doing soy. But maybe I should do a little of each ? I appreciate you so much ✌🏼
    PS. She eats solids really well and I’m a chef I make all her food she has an amazing diet I promise. Like beats, edamame, sweet potato, Brocolli, fruit, beans, meat, etc. Nothing processed.

    • @pedsdoctalktv9960
      @pedsdoctalktv9960  Год назад

      Whole milk does have more fat than soy milk but you have to look at the whole picture, if a child has an otherwise healthy diet and is gaining well that slight difference in fat intake likely doesn’t matter! As far as cow milk alternatives soy milk and pea milk are the closest to whole milk. I’d recommend discussing with your child’s clinicians if you have other concerns about their growth or the best choice for them. Best of luck!

    Hi! Can I give my 13 month old oat milk and cows milk as well (oat milk 2x and cow’s milk 1x a day) Or does it have to be one or the other? I feel like it would be easier on her digestive system. Thank you in advance!

  • @ValHeartNDHeartSuqquNoHeartPat

    If we have a pile of formula still left do we still have to switch to milk?

    • @pedsdoctalktv9960
      @pedsdoctalktv9960  Год назад

      You don’t have to switch exactly at 12 months but I don’t typically recommend continuing formula much past that. But should be fine to finish the formula you have and then switch!

    Is 2% milk ok to give to my 11 month old ? That's what I have for the time being. Out of formula.

    • @pedsdoctalktv9960
      @pedsdoctalktv9960  Год назад

      Whole milk is best due to the high fat content for their developing brains. If you were totally out you could give a small amount of 2% in a pinch until able to get whole milk but I wouldn’t recommend that long term
