I just want to say, im taking time for myself before having any new relationships, building my skills of setting and maintaining boundaries. Putting myself as a priority. If a guy isn't willing to do this with me, i don't need them, or to do the same, too. Im fully aware of life, limits, and setting healthy boundaries for good relationships is key to a successful relationship. I don't go in with many goals at first. But also being able to clearly see someone and communicate are keys.

Just wanted to say that I note the transactional relationships that both sexes use these days. I went for coffee with a lady just for a bit of company and she just wanted to find out every contact I had so she could use it. I have a ‘friend’ that’s always asking me for contacts and tips, I recently remodeled a condo and found some good contacts and had others … I just vet a lot , I don’t mind sharing …
-Your lady friend may have respect for you, or just needs to have options , we even write recommendations in yelp or reviews … You can also help other businesses. Don’t really see anything wrong … 🤫
I think if others want a leg up using your contacts, that you got via your time, resources and energy, research, experience, and money, etc. - they should be offering something in return. Did she even offer to get you the coffee? Exchange/give you some of her contacts? Offer to help you free of charge on some work or projects you had going on? If there was no offer of anything in return, that I felt was of equal value, then I would not have given her my contacts either. I don’t do one sided friendships or have doormat energy.
@@deejames1st You just described a transactional relationship Lol . Not everything has to be give and take in that exact moment and keeping tabs on everything. People may offer other value to your life in that moment or at a later time or it may come back to you from another source … and something more valuable than coffee or money. That’s not being a doormat , but scrooge mentality … not attractive at all.
@@Bb-k4gd Interesting. That sounds like a diatribe from someone that likes to use people under the false pretense of “I’ll pay you back later”. That’s a - No. Nah. And NOPE for me. I don’t date men for their “potential”. I date them for who they are TODAY. Not what I hope they may become later. Same with friends. I’m not bending over backwards, giving and giving in hopes they’ll one day be able to reciprocate.

Lewis is the equivalent of a male Farah Fawcett lol. You might get the impression that he's the male equivalent of a dumb blonde--but his success says otherwise I guess. Anyway, women have spun him around; folks w excess always have to call in the experts to help them sort it out. He was actually abused by a former gf but got out. Don't get caught in the counseling loop.

Great advice, Jonathon. I like your dating vows a lot but it also makes me sad that people are not intentional when dating! As you say, men are clueless when it comes to leading in a relationship. Eight Dates is a great book and I hope to find the right man to share it with. All your book recommendations are awesome and most have taught me a lot about my standards, boundaries, and what I need in a relationship. I have never just winged it in a relationship and at 61, I'm not about to start! Have you ever done a video about people who've never been married at mid-life? I see a lot of guys on the dating apps who've never been married and I am a little leery about starting something with one of them. Thanks for all you do. BIG HUGS!
My personal opinion of men over 40 or even 50 who have NEVER been married or don’t have children; many of them are dismissive avoidant!! Vet VERY CAREFULLY! They will appear securely attached until about month 3 or 4. Once they are triggered, the avoidance will come out. And when it does, RUN‼️😑🏃🏽♀️
I dated a guy twice divorced and he was a sociopath narcissist. He said that he expects a woman to confirm to his life and listen to what he says - this is why he is twice divorced. I did meet a man in in his late 40's (wealthy) who had never been married. He said he hasn't met the right woman. Hard to judge if someone has never been married in midlife - perhaps they don't want to settle for the wrong partner.

I am in agreement with almost all of this video except for the part about the biblical perspective on relationships. I believe that both men and women have to be willing to sacrifice everything for each other and that the Bible supports this, not a one-up, one-down, patriarchal view.
Having said this, I do want you to know, Jonathon, that I believe that you are and will always be the best midlife relationship coach and advocate for women like me. We all, as women and men, greatly benefit from personal development, self-help, and spiritual work in our own lives and to be grow in our discernment to find life partners who will do the same. ❤
I agree, and maybe I should have said... a patriarchal perspective.
Some people / couches say that a man should ask a woman to be exclusive after 2-3 months of dating and within 6 months a man will know if she is a wifey material or not and if he sees a future with her - there should be a conversation about moving forward and taking the relationship to the next level ( only a conversation which will make a women feel secure and she will get an assurance from a man). Some people disagree with that. Also if a man will not initiate what’s next after 6 months should a woman ask “ what’s next / where this is going”… I don’t want to waste my time …What’s your advice?
I’m 38, I have a stable career , house so I’m only interested in men who want to settle down. I’m trying to avoid men who are playing games… actions always speak louder vs words

Hi I unintentionally got involve in a third party situation I met someone 6 months ago and in the time early I found out but I fell inlove and we have a big attraction towards each other we r a long distance from each other but we made effort to see each other he told me he want to be with me but want to leave his gf his living with but do it the right way cause he don't want karma to hit him what must I do cause I can feel the love and the honesty but I don't want someone to get hurt he has been very honest with me about everything

Yes true it’s virtually impossible to find men who want more than sex nowadays.
If you need therapy right out of the gate...IDK. Anyway, zero therapists I have had have been at all helpful. Just the psychiatriasts for med management .. All of the rap ists have been losers and left after about 2-4 months. please let me know if you have experienced otherwise. The rap ists get paid crap and they don't know WTF they're doing, so they move on because it's a shit degree. Psychiatrists are just a little bit better . They have control over your meds and shit so...
