When you realize a business like Koch Industries OR Amway have a network in the 1000's of 501 c4 , shell companies and SuperPacs all funded through another network of hedge funds...you see the effects.
The thing that i remember about this skit, or perhaps a follow up skit, is that if a 501c4 decides to shutdown the director can do whatever he wants with the remaining funds including transferring them into his personal accounts. It's just like he said in this skit, it's a money laundering scam.

I miss fun colbert. It's sad how this spoof persona just feels far more real than his 'current' one on late night, more fun, more nuanced, actually funny...
Stephen should NEVER have left Colbert Report to be another forgettable late night host. He won a Peabody for pieces like these… explanatory journalism. Nobody explained campaign finance law more or better than him.
It's segments like this that, in 2021, show just how far Colbert's comedy has fallen since having a show about lampooning politics as opposed to trying to force all political bits on Late Night. This was genius yet simple.

Can't forget Liq Madiq
I still think about that bit, I was getting a laugh.
The Colbert Report taught America more about campaign finance than any legit news show! If it weren't so funny, it would be depressing.
It was both funny and depressing. I really miss The Report.
If it weren't dunny, no one would have learned anything either

That ham looks exactly like Karl Rove it's really uncanny hahaha
I have fond memories of Ham Rove.
I remember talking about this with my friends the day after it happened. We were in high school and this kind of blew our minds
"what is the difference between that and money laundering?" Anytime someone asks that question, it means you have found legalal corruption.

1:17 Thought for a second Karl Rove sounded like Al Sharpton
I would probably vote for Trevor. Seems like a genuinely decent guy.
A little thought to the cleaning crew having to mop up and bin after the show.
Great video BTW
Why would the other channels take this video down? It’s excellent and from over a decade ago and should have way more views, likes and comments.
