      Whats hashimotos? Like an allergy? Pea protein is good and on the rise. You have pea protein powders and TVP is really good. Plus legumes are always good.

    How many calories do you recommend per day if I weigh 165lbs? 15% body fat (according to the standard body scanners at the gym).
    I’ve cut back from 5 or 6 days per week to 3 or 4 days at the gym with high-intensity strength training. I want to get enough energy to be able to grow muscle, and eating a plant-based diet can require us to eat more volume before reaching the same caloric density.

      I would recommend a recomp , because with a recomp you can be lean at a heavier weight , while building lean muscle , also on a recomp you would eat at a maintenance calories

      Depends on how tall you are, how fast your metabolism is, and genetics in general. You need to weigh yourself everyday for a few weeks while eating the same calories each day. If you gain weight too fast, drop the calories. If you lose weight too fast, up the calories. If your weight doesn’t change, congrats, you’ve found your maintenance calories.

    I train weights 5 days a week, been on a keto/low carb diet for years and have managed to stay on weight and my gains are sustained , recently I got into this vegan trend so I decided to try it, bought tofu tons of veggies, beans, legumes, whole grain bread , pasta etc,, I even used just egg and vegan bacon and sausage, but after about a week into it I got to weak to work out, even though I ate tons of food I still felt something missing the lack of proteins was obvious, my last work out I almost blacked out, that has never happened to me on keto, I gave it a real effort I wanted to be vegan for a year to lay of animal proteins but the lack of energy, the bloating and insomnia was to much, I did take b12 supplements but it didn't boost my energy at all, I dont know what I did wrong, but this diet is not for me.

      You were not mentally into the vegan diet, so the placebo effect made you think something was missing. There is nothing missing and the objective science proves that. It also sounds like you didn’t track your macros, or micros.

      Your problem is that your attitude sucks. Being vegan is not a "trend". If you're doing it simply as a means to become fitter, you won't stay with it.
      You're training five times a week, so you sound like you're overtraining.
      B12 supplements do not boost your energy, they simply ensure that your nervous system functions properly.
      I don't know what else to tell you. I've gained muscle as a vegan, never had problems with almost blacking out. Veganism is not the problem. It must be something else that you're doing.

      Sometimes a diet with a lot of animal foods can cause blood sugar issues. It takes time for your body to get that regulated. Maybe check that out

      Well you cant expect a drastic change like that to just smoothly transition in a week. Especially if you went from keto to high carb it takes time to adjust. I highly doubt it was a lack of protein lol. Maybe you shouldve eased into it instead of making a 180.

      Brown rice, tofu, carbohydrates (you need your energy), and water (muscles are 70 per cent water). Find a good vegan protein powder, yet don't overdo it. Consuming too much protein will cause you to gain fat. Additionally, don't overtrain, give your body time to rest and recover.
      One more thing: I'm not fond of the term "plant-based". If you're vegan, say so. I don't understand the whole trend of saying "plant-based" nowadays.

    Ive been meat based weight lifting for 9 months. I really want to transition to vegan but the hard part is I’m allergic to soy which makes it difficult to have high protein meals without load of carbs

      Im vegan and I consume no soy on a regular basis, I just eat 2 cans of either black pinto garbanzo and chili beans every day along with brown rice and quinoa, throw in a protein smoothie and you got 120grams right there, enough to gain muscle

    how many calories do you eat per day? and what's your height and weight? Because I don't see here a lot of protein. Im too vegan.

      Protein- tofu, more tofu, protein shake and vg sausage

      Not true, look up "Dr. Fuhrman Sou misconceptions". You also don't have to eat tofu daily, you could have hundreds of other Legumes/Beans/Lentils :)

      Starving how lol? Ive been on chicken and rice diets before and they get old fast believe me. Youre just forcing yourself to eat to be jacked. His diet seems much more enjoyable.
