On the ground:
-'If there is anything I can do to make your flight more enjoyable just let me know'
In the air:
-'I'm freezing could I get a blanket?'
-'Who do you think you are?'
Maybe they should bring a sweater next time... i would assume it gets cold at 37,000 ft?
@@christiem25, the outside temperature can get to -60ºC at that altitude, and it's obviously not compatible with human life (though some Russians would disagree). The temperature inside the cabin depends on how the flight crew adjusts the air conditioning, but on a Canadian plane you wouldn't expect it to be very warm. Probably something between 15 and 20ºC (60-70ºF), which is pretty manageable outdoors but a bit uncomfortable already if you're indoors and inactive, or worse, sleeping, when your heat production decreases and so does the body temperature a bit.

American airlines : we make the worst meal presentation
British airways : hold our beer
Air Canada rouge : hold our maple syrup
Actually had a really tasty, nicely-presented meal with a super fresh, crisp salad on an AA 787 between Chicago and Barcelona last year, it was kind of shocking how good it was.
@Alfie Dixon - Yes, you're right, I am a US citizen, but if you're thinking I'm the type of person to just root for anything American indiscriminately, you'd be way off. Like I said, I was actually surprised AA was that good, given the reputation US airlines (even flag carriers) have had of late. I went on the flight because it was affordable; the trip was a codeshare and it was AA on the way there, and BA on the way back. It was the BA part I was more interested in.
I can probably be more critical of AA's breakfast on that same flight I had, actually. It was like "here's some cold packaged cookies, a tiny yogurt, and a tiny drip coffee. I was like, this isn't enough calories to keep me warm next to the window at 41,000 feet!
British Airways serves the best lunch and breakfast not dinner though
Alpha lol 😂
Air Canada but Walmart edition😂😂😂
Fly in Economy for K-Mart Edition.

As a Canadian, I'm SO angry you took Air Canada Rouge LOL. I could've warned you ahead of time! :)
Do you like Westjet
@@oneworldman0 West jet is at least a bit better with business class from Toronto to Vancouver!
Flew on air Canada rouge as a Canadian when i was a young child and uhh a five hour delay happened it sucked
@@oneworldman0 yes i like west jet
@@nickolashogg259 Delays aren't neccesarily the airlines fault.
Air Canada: Walmart Edition, yeah, that checks out lol. Part of the issue is that AC lost a ton of domestic capacity when the MAX was grounded, so they've had to use Rouge on some of domestic mainline routes, as opposed to the leisure destination flights you'd expect them on.
Agreed rouge was created to got to places like Lisbon or porto routes in demand but not enough that its economical to send parts of the main fleet. It was never ment to fly to places like Vancouver
Alex Praglowski Aviation air Canada started Rouge on multiple destinations before Max incident. Toronto to San Diego, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Barcelona are all Rouge started as early as 2013. Before Max, the main difference is before Max were grounded, planes would charge outlets. Now they are using older planes and there are no outlets while you’re expected to use your own device for entertainment (I just did YYZ to MIA on Jan 15, 2020). Non-Rouge flights have newer planes (when I took YVR to YYZ in November 2019, the plane has individual entertainment screen for each passenger with 3,4,3 configuration)
hi
Walllllllllmarrrrt!!!
Congratulations! You've been "Rouged."
Bruce Murray: So has the viewer!!
Honestly I dont know what he expected its budget air Canada
Not a big flyer in Canada but really appreciate you taking one for the team. Big help for those of us unable to take the time to research every single carrier. Major thumbs up, Dan. Thank you.
I'm surprised the crew didn't hand you a pack of playing cards for in-flight entertainment
Lol aircanada used to give out playing cards in the 90s I have a 3 decks i got when flying the gru-yyz route.
From what I have heard, Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada should be considered two separate airlines.
Service wise
They should! Air Canada Rouge/Jazz/Express is just not the same as mainline AC. BNE-YVR-EWR is a great experience. BNE-YVR-YYZ-CVG goes from awesome to fine to god awful.
Agreed,...Air Canada is lacking,...Rouge is missing altogether.
I flew Rouge twice, with my family and it was a very good experience. From Toronto to Orlando and then from Miami back to Toronto. Both flights left on time, they were faster than expected and we had no problems with luggage. I would definitely fly Rouge again.
Yes, I flew AC Rouge to Cuba and return and it was perfectly OK. And I'm frequent flier, I fly a lot! I think that his expectations were set differently than they should be. AC Rouge Premium is NOT the same as AC Premium.
Im flying Air Canada from London Heathrow to Montreal and then air Canada rouge from Montreal to Orlando! Im hoping its alright ahah I go on Friday 31st :)
@@jaketaylor9961 my flight with Rouge from Toronto to Orlando was a night flight. It was very fast and smooth. The only bad thing is that their 767 do not have the entertainment that the new planes have. Everything else was perfect.
2:47 ...is that...a kitten meowing?
Yes - Leftover from the dinner flight from Beijing.
I just love your videos. I binge them every day, rewatch my favorites, and wait very non patiently for new ones! Thank you for putting out such great content! Plus you’re so adorable to watch
♥️❤️♥️
First thanks for reminding me to load the Air Cattleprod app on my iPad. That way I don't need to use theirs.
Fair review. I fly Rouge often between YYZ and MCO and occasionally to DUB. If you go in with low expectations. You get what you expect.
In the non bulkhead seats there *generally* are slots to put the cover over the iPad in the seat in front so it hangs above the tray table.
There's a slot too on the wall in front of him to mount the ipad. All bulkhead seats had them installed over a year ago. For some reason he doesn't mention that in his review.
Christie 91 oh that's awesome. I've been mainly AA lately so haven't seen that.
GOTTA SAY.....Air Canada staff at Calgary were the absolute best! Helped me out big time.
Dan - thank you for the review. I fly both Rouge and Air Canada frequently and what you portray in the review, is from my perspective, indicative of both AC brands.
Thanks for your honest, comprehensive comments. It is appreciated that you are sensitive to those around you. Please keep flying.
Living your best life Dan, so happy for you 😭🙏🏽
Do you plan to transition to mirrorless cameras to do your video recordings? If so, what camera? Thank you.
Oliver is so lucky. Dan is BEAUTIFUL. That husky voice always thrills me.
Air Canada Rouge is really aimed at the budget traveller. It really is one of those 'you get what you pay for' deals. One some routes you have no choice like to the Caribbean, although they do fly on some Transatlantic routes which are more 'touristy'. I find Air Canada's Business Class to be just as good as most of the European carrier I've flown in the last few year. I have 2 long hauls coming up with them and really looking forward to both.
Hey Dan, are the Amex promos valid only for Swedish customers/residents? I’m Italian..we do not have such good offers with Amex here :(
Always love your videos Dan, keep up the good work x
TIP: Air Canada almost never offers award space on their real Signature Class (business class) flights with lie-flat seats between Vancouver and Toronto vice versa! When redeeming an award ticket, ALWAYS try to use Air Canada's Aeroplan miles as they allow passengers who are booked on a business class award to do a "same day change/standby" for a flight which the aircraft is equipped with their Signature Class. You cannot do the same when redeeming through the frequent flyer programs of other Star Alliance carriers.
Just when we thought Air Canada couldn't get any worse, we discovered Air Canada Rouge.
um rouge was never "discovered" it was imposed
I AM CANADIAN!
Love watching your videos Dan!!!
That finger print of sauce on the plate, really brings me back.
I heard Air New Zealand has a new premium cabin with memory foam mattresses. Maybe you could test that one out, Dan.
I have flown with Air Canada Rouge a few times now in business class and loved my experience. Our flight attendant Sarah was just amazing and definitely made the experience awesome! :)
If you ever fly Rouge Premium again, the back of every seat and on the bulkhead there is a spot to hang up the I Pad so you don’t have to put it on your tray! :) Rouge has been taking over a lot of routes for mainline during the grounding of the MAX so that would be why that lady was rebooked with Rouge!
The presentation of the meal reminds me of murder scene in those crime movies.
I travel frequently on Air Canada signature lie flat and I just love it and the service is amazing ! London, paris and especially The Japanese crew when flying to HND
What kind of plane was it? Boeing or Airbus? I've been on both, with the AB a 2-2 configuration, with no problem RE: bulkhead.
The presentation of that meal! 😂
I always check seatguru before making my seat selection! Looking on there, it does say the bulkhead seats have far less legroom
Similar to other reviews of AC Rouge I’ve heard from friends. Great report.
Thanks for this, I’ve always wondered what rouge was all about and thought of flying it for my first trip to Canada. I’ll take American or Delta!
Thanks for the tip about not selecting a bulkhead seat! Actually if you sit on the rows behind there is a slot where you can put your ipad on the seatback in front if you.
Very entertaining and informative as always, Dan! As someone who generally flies Star Alliance carriers globally - mostly out of necessity - based on their reputation, or lack thereof, I always avoid Air Canada flights. Even if it costs me more money to take, say, Lufthansa or United. As such, I'm very interested to see your review of a regular Air Canada flight to see if my bias is justified! Thanks and keep up the good work!
haven't ever flown rouge but so glad it's now defunct since it used to fly long haul to athens and croatia. ATH has since been replaced with two daily 77Ws which is a massive upgrade.
How did you get a ANA flight thru Vancouver from Toronto? Everytime I try to fly ANA from Toronto, they try to make me transit through Chicago O'Hare...
I stay away from AC and Rouge. I started using Condor from Phx to Fra this summer and was positively surprised.
I have flown the 767 rouge and 787 air Canada and they were both great
Daniel, I've been flying Air Canada Rouge twice (in economy). I have to say it's been two of the best flights I ever had! For being a low cost carrier, they do a great job! Just look at their in flight cafe offerings. It's amazing! As a fellow Swede, I compare with our state owned brand, SAS, who offers an expensive sandwich as its most. Air Canada Rouge has so many nice snacks, meal packages, drinks etc. Pretty affordable too. I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them again! Ha en trevlig resa! 😃
Celebrity dream Low-cost? I have found Rouge to be identically priced to Air Canada mainline.
It certainly appears to me that there are no customer-experience-oriented airlines left in North America. However, I have not seen any review on Alaska Airlines from any travel vloggers. Is it a domestic carrier to try?
I love flying on older planes like the 767. I just wish the food was better on this flight though.
Dude I love flying on them as well! It's a much better fate for them flying in rouge then immediately getting scraped. Honestly warms my heart
Lucas Fragoso definitely agree
What kinda phone did he film with? Quality’s not bad!
Hope you enjoyed Canada!
PS- just waiting for my ‘fly’ t-shirt to come in the mail! Looking forward to wearing it on my next trip!
Have you ever reviewed El Al? I haven't flown to Israel since 1980.
I can 100% relate to this flight review 😊
Yea Rouge is a scam lol. It’s a “best to avoid” here
Just looked this up as was looking at award space Canada rough business class is no go your videos are awesome thanks Dan
The blanket thing.... come on 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🥶
Dan when are you going to fly Air Canada's signature business? Interested to see what you would think of it good/bad.
Simply hilarious "Walmart Edition". After this review, I'll never fly Rouge.
Bay Area Traveler: I will never watch another video of Dans.
Walllllllllmarrrrt!!!
Are the beatings free like on United?
Good video Dan!
Normal AirCanada Economy is brilliant 100% recommend
It sure is brilliant, provided you've had both of your legs amputated and you're in a coma.
dshepherd1978 man up princess
It was good on the 787-9 I haven’t tried any other Air Canada economy
dshepherd1978 dying but sadly that sounds about right. 🤣
on the 777 Economy was pretty decent...but if you eat a lot, bring a snack. Lone complaint.
You should try regular Air Canada a220 and the 787 in business class, you should also try WestJet on the 737 and 787 in premium/business class
Soory but I flare YYG YYZ last year and it was fantastic!! The crew were amazing and the food delicious!
Flown Rouge several times r/t YVR-PHX with no issue. But this upcoming trip has been switched from AC to be operated by Omni Air, an American airline under an AC flight number.
We recently flew with Air Canada and Rouge. For us Rouge was much better.
Currently sitting in YUL Montreal waiting to board a Rouge 763 and watching your review!! Oh boy! And I’m not in premium either.
Does that mean Your Face turned 'Rouge' after reviewing the Airline?😂
Anyways a Good And Honest Review!👍
Air Canada is amazing I've flown with them many times
When I flew to Tokyo I went on Air Canada Rouge A321 in Premium Rouge then I went on their 777 in Signature .
when are the biman bangladesh airline dreamliner video at sam chui did it?
Do a WestJet Calgary to Rome next spring!!
I have also flown Air Canada rouge Boeing 767-300 from Las Vegas to Toronto and economy. Seated second last row left-hand side.
Thank sharing super amazing video with us.
doesnt the 767 300er have winglets and the 767 300 doesnt? that wing flex tho
I feel that I walked into the 1970's genoration of traveling!!
Hey Dan, Canadian here and yes we love to hate AC 😅. I flew AC Rouge ONCE and never ever again. It truly is the Walmart of flying. Good analogy. I’ve also been told you have to pay for a blanket. 🙄
Please do a review of the Emirates Businesses.
Your connecting flight is with ANA because they are a star alliance member, just like Air Canada.
Have to fly air canada rouge on an a321 on december 18th, not looking forward to it but its the only flight connecting Canada to my home country of the Cayman Islands. Gonna be a painful 3 and a half hours considering I'm 6 foot 2 and they have 29 inch seat pitch.
Daniel you should do a review on the Qantas 787 product from London to Perth
Try Air Canada Executive Class on an international flight with the pods (eg. YVR to SYD). Really great!
Welcome to Vancouver, my hometown! I've never flown air Canada rouge, but I fly air Canada a lot. Everyone complains about delays, but I don't usually get them.
Hey dan, where is the MEA review 🇱🇧
Ddaannn! love your content....why dont you do lounge reviews? they are great to see too!!
Uh.....gee whiz, Dan! I'm practically speechless! I've been on RJ200 bulkheads that have more room than that, and I’m only 5'4"! I'm amazed you were able to walk after being crammed into that seat for four hours. I was enjoying a salad while watching your report, but when I saw what you were trying to choke down, I had to stop and reach for a Tums.(shudder!) I couldn't believe they were going to charge that poor woman for a measly blanket! I hadn't heard of Air Canada's Rouge line before now. Thanks to you, I'm avoiding it like the plague!
New style herringbone biz AC seat is great. Not the old style 777 high density ones! Service always been fine.
I have flown all cabins with Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge. Rouge is mediocre at best. I usually consider it a success if we get from point a to point b but there's really no luxury in premium economy versus regular economy aside from the cutlery you're given to eat your food. I think you'll enjoy the Air Canada business/first class experience, especially on their Dreamliner plane. The seats has massage features, which are amazing. The food service is much better than what you got here and the beds are relatively comfy. It probably won't compete with some of the luxury middle eastern airlines but it's decent.
Flown Rouge a few times for me. Short flights I'm okay with. Did a YVR to Osaka flight pre-COVID and it was absolutely horrible. Didn't even get a warm meal. The seats on Rouge on the narrow-body aircraft are also very tight.
I hope you will be able to do an Air Canada review and you could fly from Vancouver to Toronto or something like that.
Air Canada Rouge uses older planes, hence the "retro" bins.
You should fly WestJet Dreamliner
The *only* way to travel from Toronto to Vancouver is on VIA Rail's "Canadian"!
how long does it take to travel ?
@@chrischolewa9104 I think on the website it says like 3 or 4 days maybe 2
@@chrischolewa9104 It's like 4 nights. All food is freshly cooked on the train; it's lovely.
@@lenaweerailfan8162 Yeah, isn't it like $5k?
@@BrooklinFunkProject I paid under $1000 during a fare sale, including sleeper and meals.
The 767 is temporary on Toronto to Vancouver it’s for the 737 max not filing until February
That blanket situation is just ridiculous. I've had to endure the same thing on planes before and it was not a great feeling.
I have flown once on Rouge and was sorely disappointed. The crew are the only positive. I’m looking forward to your Air Canada review!
I've never flown rouge, but my mom flew with them from YYZ to ATH and they ran out of food. I've been avoiding air canada in general like the plague for the last 10 years. Though I just flew with them (normal AC) recently from AMS to YYZ in economy, the flight was good, service friendly, and decent food. The IFE was also seatback mounted, but yea I'd maybe fly rouge on the odd short haul, it's budget airline quality for legacy airline prices.
Do you go on biman bangladesh airlines.
Flew westjet recently but was not overly impressed so I'm interested in your rouge video
Welcome to yvr! What were you doing here?
I have flown Rouge, and have nothing but positive experiences, roomier than any Sunwing or Transat flight I have been on, and the staff was amazing!!!! The staff on both Sunwing and Transat were equally as good, just the planes a bit more cramped.
Flew a few times on " mainline " Air Canada from Ottawa to China ( via Toronto or Vancouver or Montreal ) and did not have any major problems. If you think Air Canada Rouge is bad try flying economy on United Airlines from the USA to China.
What an engine view you have from that seat
Who the hell wants "an engine view"? Are you a wannabe mechanic? Crazy...
Air Canada Signature long haul is outstanding, just flew YVR-ZRH 787-8 seat 1K and FRA-YVR 787-9 3A. Both flights exceptional, food, seat, service crew, complete 180 from AC Rouge far better than LH Business long-haul mostly due to the 1-2-1 configuration and outstanding seat. AC Rouge is a discount arm, don't expect much more, 'it is what it is' and your report was about what I'd expect. AC Rouge is being deployed on routes like YYZ-YVR 100% due to the MAX groundings, AC is doing the best it can as it's the most, per-capita affected airline in the world by the MAX groupings, it got screwed by boeing so kudos to them for keeping the frequencies up.
Try Air Canada from Brussel to Montreal with the 787-9!!
