Can definitely say, Air Canada only apologized because they realized you have a following. I've ridden with them maybe 3-4 times in my life and every time I had awful service or baggage destroyed. One of my friends watched in shock and horror as some of the employees destroyed his wheelchair by jumping on it when it wouldn't collapse. Majority of Canadians avoid them like the plague. I've spent an extra $100 just to fly with another company.
That is absolutely devastating for your friend! How horrible! I can’t imagine how powerless they must have felt watching the staff destroy basically his whole access to the world. Ugh just heartbreaking
I was at a screening of a film once, at the Banff film festival, and an air Canada advertisment started to play before the movie. It said "Air Canada was voted #1 in customer satisfaction, for the third year running". And everyone in the audience spontaneously started to laugh.
Luckily they have improved. A big problem was that they were unionized.. Also, generally, European flights receive the premium treatment. Looks like Mexico does not, but some other Central and South American flights have improved tons in the last 7 years.

I am Canadian and I do everything that I can to avoid AC. Employees are rude and service is awful. It was like that before and during Covid and it is still like that.
I'm flying "out" of Canada soon, and doing Delta, West Jet mix. all business class sleep seats, so I don't care..lol. This video was pretty showing of how Canada and its people have changed, so sad.
Air Canada has always been horrible. Had to fly with them many times but the absolute worst incident was when I was continuously refused service on a long haul flight in 2006. I asked for a cup of water and the attendant said sure. She came back, proceeded to serve people around me. I saw she was walking away and said "sorry, is my water on the way?" She said "I'm sorry, yes I'll get it." She never came back. This was when personal water bottles weren't allowed on flights so I was feeling very thirsty by that time. About an hour later, meal service came out and everyone was served but me. It was a different crew member handing out meals. At this point, the passengers around me were like "serve her first, no one is helping her even though she's asked many times." It wasn't until then that I was finally helped. The crew member even said, "you're so tiny, you blend into the seat" when she came back! What difference does my size make? I was 5'5 and over 120lbs lol The passenger next to me even said she'll go to the counter with me once we land as a witness if I wanted to file a complaint. This was before social media.
Like my experience! How are we all (outside of Canada) just now finding out how bad this airline is?! I do sort of love that their over the top PR reply to someone 'known' was seen for what it is, a shameless play to try to cover up gapingly rude service with normal people that don't have a RUclips channel.
IK! LIKE I WAS IN ECONOMY AND THE SCREENS WERE NOT. WORKING. THEN LIKE THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS TREATED ME LIKE SH*T. I ASKED FOR A DRINK AND THEY SAID NO KID. LIKE TF-
@TheENofficial I really wanted to like Air Canada but they lost my wife's bag (later recovered) very nearly ruining our European vacation. I've had much better luck on West Jet, Canada's second largest airline. My 787 experience was very different. Los Angeles to London on a Virgin Atlantic flying cattle car was not fun!
I’m a flight attendant for a U.S. Airline, and I have caught coworkers lying to passengers saying something was illegal when it actually wasn’t. I’ve found myself having to correct them, and smooth things out with the passenger.
You're a bad colleague and a poor employee, then. Your colleagues have the right to not being filmed while working and your airline's planes are NOT public space, so specific formal consent must be obtained from the company prior to be allowed to film on board. That everybody is doing it to the point of then freely post it on social media and derive monetarily gain from the it is not an excuse to for you to help them out.
So last year, I flew my family of 5 to Morocco, with Air Canada. After I purchased the tickets, the scheduled aircraft changed. I had already paid extra $110 per person for the seat selection, but because it was a different aircraft, the reassigned every seat, and our seats were scattered around. Then I called the customer service and asked them to put my family together, but was told wasn't possible cause they have already reassigned the seats and the flight was fully booked. Obviously, I asked for a refund, but again was told that Air Canada can't refund service fee's, only can issue a credit to use in the future. So at the end of the day, I had to pay $550 for the seats I couldn't even choose. Talk about customer service...
You wrote this a month ago but as someone who used to work in the trade I must tell you and all others that seats (numbers) are never guaranteed and this is part of the T&C’s and Conditions of Carriage when purchasing. What the airline guarantees is that they will get you from A to B but not the specific seat number you choose or pay for. This is one of their most vile monetising tricks but a lot of people are happy paying hundreds for no guarantee whatsoever. With some airlines, depending on how many layovers or stops your flight has, it is actually cheaper to go Business Class…
As a Cdn. we all know the AC motto is "We're not happy till you're not happy" and absolutely correct.. no response would have happened with an ordinary Joe.
Seen some people in the comments defending Air Canada about the gopro situation, which fair enough, even if it isnt law it's their plane etc - but that still doesn't excuse the lack of blankets, the meals, the ticket pricing, the saving face they did when they saw his post, and the countless other comments and experiences others have said about the staff and the flight being awful. A crap airline is a crap airline
Pretty weak to have no blankets on an over night flight but it was only $700 I don't see what the pricing gripe was about. Fair enough to apologise for poor staff training but I hate when a company sucks up to an influencer/reviewer
@@goose7158 Planes can get really cold because of the aircon and air pressure. Many planes, especially long haul ones where you're expected to sleep, give blankets to help with the cold. For someone like myself that struggles with blood pressure and my body temperature, they can be the difference between being fine and blood clots occurring
I am yet another Canadian that avoids Air Canada at all cost. I have flown with them once that once was more than enough: not only was I rudely treated, the flight attendant actually made my flight uncomfortable which one would think is contrary to their job. I will take a slow train across the country before I step on another Air Canada flight. Thank you for exposing them for how awful they are.
When Fort Mac in Alberta was being burned down by forest fires. West Jet was evacuating people for free. Taking pets and everything without complaint. Air Canada doubled their ticket prices. And that was pretty much the last straw for Air Canada. The only reason I would fly them is absolute last resort.
Not true at all. West Jet was NOT giving people free flights. Air Canada actually flew larger aircraft than WestJet (Boeing 777s) delivering supplies and evacuating people. They even honored WestJet tickets held by people who got stranded. Air Canada also was able to fly into the smaller airfields and evacuate people from them with their smaller aircraft types that WestJet doesn't have. The ticket prices only got jacked because the computer booking system was suddenly inundated with people buying up tickets from Fort Mac and it automatically increases prices when there's a sudden surge in demand (Westjet's system did the same thing) They corrected the problem right away and charged people the original price. Honestly, the main difference between the two airlines? Air Canada didn't brag about it on social media the way WestJet did. WestJet even took credit for Canadian North's evacuation flights.
Screw Alberta. They elect fascists and homophobes, cry non-stop about lack of representation (despite giving us the absolute worst prime minister the country has ever had), and arrogantly mocking "have-not" provinces when they were rolling in oil money -- then demanding welfare money when _they_ squandered their oil money and became have-nots.
"A law that forbid people from filming in a plane" Yeah, that doesn't exist, this flight personnel was clearly afraid of their bad behavior appearing on screen.
This may help with the confusion: Straight out of the criminal code... You may notice 162.1 (2) b and c are in jeopardy. 162.1 (1) Everyone who knowingly publishes, distributes, transmits, sells, makes available or advertises an intimate image of a person knowing that the person depicted in the image did not give their consent to that conduct, or being reckless as to whether or not that person gave their consent to that conduct, is guilty (a) of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than five years; or (b) of an offence punishable on summary conviction. Definition of intimate image (2) In this section, intimate image means a visual recording of a person made by any means including a photographic, film or video recording, (a) in which the person is nude, is exposing his or her genital organs or anal region or her breasts or is engaged in explicit sexual activity; (b) in respect of which, at the time of the recording, there were circumstances that gave rise to a reasonable expectation of privacy; and (c) in respect of which the person depicted retains a reasonable expectation of privacy at the time the offence is committed.
@@brianbenoit6883 I’m no lawyer but, to me, that just means it’s illegal to record and sell someone’s nudes without their consent/knowledge than it is about his ability to film/record his travel experiences. That FA’s behaviour was completely unwelcoming and kinda sus, not like he was shoving the go pro to anyone’s faces.
That is 100% guaranteed exactly what happened. Why else would they, mid flight, all of a sudden start treating him nicely? It's obvious that they googled him after telling him off for filming, found his YT channel and Instagram, and promptly went into panic mode. The truly gutting thing is that for every traveler who happens to have enough followers/fans/subs to be treated nicely (once they realize who the traveler is) there are 10 000 people without a large following that they treat like crap, and these people never get any apologies or the treatment they deserve, as paying customers.
LOVE your honest reviews!! In Canada 🇨🇦 we have VERY limited options for airline carriers and your experience here , while very unfortunate, is not rare. I suspect you’re correct that their desire to set things right was highly influenced by your subscriber count but the average traveller (myself) thanks you immensely.
You did a great job documenting a bad experience, but very professionally. This is exactly what travelers want as opposed to the white-washed reviews of other travel bloggers. Great video
Exactly. White-washed reviews (paid advertisements disguised as reviews) are the reason I unsubscribed from a different air travel blog. I prefer real reviews, pros and cons, presented professionally, like this one. Nonstop Dan is another good one.
I'm not quite sure how you define "white-washed reviews". Do you mind explaining a bit further so that I could avoid those kind of reviews in the future?
@@kingcoong Perhaps Brian Wied will explain further, but essentially they are "everything is wonderful" reviews. This video actually shows a couple of seconds of screenshots of uploads by another reviewer (but I won't mention the location in this one) with less useful content. But this video points out, starting at about 8:17, that he himself wants to give us an accurate insight, rather than an advertorial. That helps customers decide where to spend their money (or where not to) for the best value. It also can help airlines see specifically where to improve their service and attitudes if they want to keep customers. Everyone wins that way. (Except in the cases of government-run airlines who don't need to keep customers because there's no competition.) The paid reviews, paid for in cash or simply free flights, are far less useful. They never point out the downsides, because they want those free flights to keep coming their way. If you watch a review where everything is sugar coated, that's a channel to avoid.
One of the worst airline for me even I am a Canadian. I live in Japan and most of top 10 airlines in the world are in Asia. European and North American airlines unable to match there standard. Air Canada very expensive and low class service.
I also immeaditaely thought of Josh Cahill when I saw this post. I honestly thought Josh's experience must have been some kind of one off exception (you have understandibly high expectations and are known to be brutally honest in your reviews), my own experiences with AC have always been amazing. Wonder if you both had the same bad apple. Either way I hope Air Canada's attempts to make ammends really lead to improvement, and is not just fluff for your followers. P.S. GREAT REVIEW. As a Canadian, I have often flown Air Canada. They are simply horrible. The reality of Air Canada (and this is increasingly applying to WestJet) is the culture among the staff is to not treat their customers like customers. Air Canada staff treat their customers like they’re a necessary inconvenience in order to get a pay cheque.
Yikes, it must have been pretty bad to opt for Amtrak! I took Amtrak once from Shelby, MT to Seattle, WA. It took over 26 hours to get there. We spent more time stopped on the tracks than actually moving, never again.

I’m shocked with all these negative Air Canada user experiences! I was only recently looking at flying business class for the very first time - looks like I’ll be choosing another carrier.
I've flown air Canada for 52 years and absolutely love them. I've travelled since I was 6 months old, across Canada, The US and Europe. The flight crews have been lovely, I've had my luggage lost once and it was brought to my home 2 hours later.
@@supergirl0526 I flew with Air Canada from Doha to Toronto and also from Toronto to Doha. It's honestly not that bad. I like the flight map because you can see the plane from different angles and you can play with it. I don't really like Qatar Airways flight map because you can't play with it and it just changes by its own. Air Canada Business Class seems disappointing and I don't know why the Airline gives boring vibes.
Being well accustomed to “its the law”, my retort is always “which law?”. Its a get out used to control people too often by trying to scare them. Having been through several court battles and come out the victor I can tell you that misrepresenting the law is a higher offence in itself.
The problem is, it is very much the law if the pilot doesn’t want you on the flight - you have no choice.. So even if you aren’t breaking the law or an airline rule; the captain still has full control over who flys or not
@@Pepper_Ann007 from a perspective of a person who have never travelled to Canada let alone know how air Canada is, few negative comment maybe because some people were salty or overreacting. But i see multiple negative reviews of air Canada so judging by that, I’d say they’re not making those reviews for the fun of it.
My experience with Air Canada is awful too! One time I was flying back to Canada and a passenger was under 5ft. She couldn’t stow her carryon in the overhead. A younger attendant wanted to help her but the older attendant stopped her. The passenger was so helpless, so I went to help. I was annoyed at this point. Then the older attendant thanked me. I told her off and said it’s her job to help passengers. It’s not like the passenger was being entitled. She really couldn’t do it. It might’ve been a work safety thing, which I get, but we all know passengers sometimes need help. It makes no sense. Its a customer need and they don’t provide that service. It makes me question what if a passenger has a an injury or they body pains, what then? Just don’t travel Air Canada if u have the choice.
That'll teach you. The very last airline I would ever fly with.....I'm Canadian. Their attendants only get paid when the plane is in the air and not before, so all that ground time is free labour. They really are one of the worst companies you'd never want to work for, or fly with.
🇨🇦 Canadian here! 👋 As a frequent traveler, I refuse to fly this airline, and haven't for over a decade. Repeated ignorant staff, awful airplane condition, nonexistent customer service...it's not worth the frustration. I usually pay more to fly other airlines, but it's always been worth it.
I'm glad to see your experience has opened the floodgates of negative reviews for Air Canada. My worst experience ever was a business class flight with them during the pandemic. One of the last days with mask mandates, I was criticized for not wearing my mask properly in-between sips of water, then they refused to serve me drinks and food because of this! The cabin crews seem to always have power trips and attitudes - which must stem from their working conditions or job satisfaction.
I've had the same experience. The power trips and attitudes not to mention the constant threats. They really need to fire these obnoxious ugly flight attendants. Someone needs to address the power trip issues with Air Canada and hold them accountable.

I flew Air Canada to Toronto and there was vomit on my moms tray table. My mom is a health care professional and she told the stewardess about the problem. The stewardess told mom to clean it herself! she had to explain that she payed for the service on the flight, not to do the service herself. The stewardess ignored her and just gave her a hot towel to clean it up. At this point mom was furious and demanded gloves and sanitation equipment. The stewardess did not give it to her. Soon it was back and fourth anger between mom and the stewardess. When we landed the manager and the captain of the flight came to apologize. They offered free business class seats for us. Worst flight ever!
Wow, so air Canada upgraded you to business class vomit covered traytable then? I think they were hoping you would continue to clean their plane for them.
I just saw this video and was amazed, because I too had my absolute worst flight experience on Air Canada, similar to yours in a tangental way in terms of the 'breaking the law' threats and it appears that it was around exactly the same time you travelled, when things were opening up. I will NEVER fly them again. I'm a long time, experienced traveller and had to go to Toronto via London Heathrow on Air Canada. I care about public health and I was masked and had all my vaccinations and all the required paperwork, and I read the requirements to make sure I was fine for Canada. Checked in at London Heathrow, no problem, nice ground crew. Interacted with maybe six or seven Air Canada employees while checking in, document checks, baggage, as well as gate crew. All fine. My trip became a nightmare on the flight. I was flying in coach. About three hours in, I got thirsty and so got up and walked to the rear of the plane, where water bottles and snacks were laid out near the lavatories. I took a water bottle and was heading to my seat when a flight attendant suddenly appeared, angrily barked at me to sit down, telling me I can't get water myself because of COVID, did I understand there is a global pandemic? I was pretty taken aback by the tone and fury- I apologised, and explained that since it was laid out (and it usually is for customers to self serve during long haul flights when crew may be having breaks or otherwise engaged) I mistakenly assumed it was intended for self service. As I headed back to my seat, with no water, she stopped me & then told me that my mask wasn't regulation and I was no following Canadian law. I was wearing a washable mask with filter, the type that I had been wearing all through covid. I asked her, with honest curiosity, what was a 'regulation Canadian mask.' She started lecturing me that my mask was a fashion mask, but I pressed her, calmly, asking where the rules were about type of mask, because I truly did not want to be breaking any rules. She escalated, and escalated, and escalated, and then three other flight attendants came to the back and I explained that I was just trying to understand the rules. I asked her why none of the six or so people I'd encountered on the Air Canada ground crew said nothing about my mask, or I would have changed it immediately! I then also asked, calmly, if I was being singled out - because there were several people with things like Liverpool masks and non medical grade masks on, and cloth masks sold at the airport. This just infuriated all of them, and I was cornered by an angry group of flight attendants determined to take whatever frustration out on someone, even though I was just trying to understand the rules. I went back to my seat, literally afraid of them, and then took out their temporary mask provided in a brown paper sleeve, and put that on, because I figured if I was wearing a mask they provided, it must be OK. I fell asleep. Two hours later, a flight attendant came up to me to tell me that I was 'breaking the rules' because it was not bent tight enough around my nose. It was so absurd that I realised this couldn't be about a mask at all. After all, I was sitting across from a man, who, across the aisle, was asleep with his mouth gapping open and his mask slipped off! I took a picture of myself in my mask and sent it to my partner, asking if he was seeing something I wasn't. No idea what I was talking about. I thought about putting the incident it on social media (Internet on the plane) but then thought better of it, I was so terrified by the threats of 'breaking Canadian law.' and a gang of angry, passive aggressive flight attendants. I just couldn't get off that flight fast enough. I must say, seeing how rude - and uncomfortable they made you feel with the threat of 'breaking the law' gave me a flashback. Even more gross is how rude they were to you until they realised that you had a following and then coming up with such an insincere, over the top hokey PR response was also infuriating! I'm glad you showed it. Thanks for that, and thanks for all your great posts for travellers.
Canada was going in the direction of Nazism before COVID19 - the latter was just a catalyst to complete the descent into fascism. It'll be a long time, if ever, until they become a civilized nation again.

I fell out with Air Canada back 1994 when during taxiing the FA told me to remove ear plugs as the captain does not allow them, I told then they were part of an Air Canada travel kit but she insisted as they would blank out announcements, I did explain we were having a conversation with me wearing them so what was the problem this stumped her for a second, so I explained there also used in construction and would be banned if they didn't allow instruction. Now she was confused even more, but she walked away. The captain spoke to me on disembarking and said I could be banned for not following FA;s instructions and I told him to just ban me and asked for his name he saluted and walked off. I never flew AC again.

The same thing happened to me a few years back when I flew Air Canada from Seoul to Vancouver in business class. Same here bro! Flew from Calgary to Quebec and had issues with the onboard crew, and even before getting on the plane. As I'm from South America, I do have a bit of different accent speaking english, and it seemed odd for them I guess so "the questioning" began. Why are you flying to Quebec? Was on an Air Canada Flight from Palm Springs to Toronto. Air Canada Rouge! One of the flight attendants screamed at a passenger because he was hesitant about moving his belongings from the over head bin. Too many people had brought everything they own on to the flight and they needed more space for the BIG bags. She threatened to remove him from the aircraft if he didn't comply with the 'orders' we had been given. I addressed the issue with the Steward. He did speak to the passenger. I don't know what transpired. I hope they gave him free flights for a year or two. I also wrote to Air Canada Customer Service-an oxymoron and did get a reply. I try to avoid using them if I can. Happy Travels.
In my view, Air Canada REALLY screwed the pooch on this one! I am getting ready to book airfare in business class from Chicago to Paris for Feb 2022. Air Canada was an option, but given what I have just seen, I will scratch them from my list. There are so many options and no one needs the hassle. No one needs the censorship either. No one wants to pay good money to be treated poorly. Nope, not going to risk that. So, Air Canada just lost an opportunity for a paying customer in business class.
Having flown Air Canada long haul dozens of times I can say their service has always been incredible. Don't just take my word for it, many other You tube Flight bloggers such as Paul Lucas from the Wingin it Channel, Jeb Brooks, and Dennis Bunniks travel channel all show great experiences in their Air Canada reviews. you should watch their reviews and make your decision. I have a feeling you'll be quite surprised
You exposed them for how “they” normally treat passengers on flights from Mexico to Canada. Air Canada has a double standard for treatments toward certain citizens of the world. They found you with their tail tucked between their legs and felt ashamed. With your following millions saw this same POV and knew of they didn’t act their would be backlash.
I've flown Air Canada before, can confirm it was a pretty shite experience. Had a very cold flight, gave us paper thin blankets and only had enough for 1 per person.
I have flown extensively in the past, long flights. I have learned to wear long socks, wear a fleece jacket and take a fleece wrap for my legs. Being cold is horrible, so I do what I can.
Amazing how an influencer/blogger gets someone from AC tracking him down personally after his comments regarding plastic cutlery and no blanket, and offered all kinds of rewards. Last time I flew AC... The plane was delayed, then boarded, then cancelled. We had to queue for 2 hours to get hotel vouchers, then get shipped out to a crappy hotel a few miles from the airport. Told to be back at airport for 7am, so little sleep and then back to Pearson. Discovered that the flight I was now booked on wouldn't be departing until 8.30 that evening - so more than 12 hours in the airport. I had to complain loudly to get a $25 meal voucher, was denied the use of the AC lounge, and was generally treated like garbage. Air Canada is crap, and even more crap for treating bloggers like minor complaint with more courtesy and decorum than passengers who've been hugely inconvenienced and treated like cattle.
Many large companies including hospitals have PR departments to do damage control..and they troll online to see what people are saying about their services or lack of.
God... I have a bad back and hip replacement. I would have been so pissed, and the amount is directly linked to how much pain I am in. Weeks ago when I had to drive my mother 2 hours out of town to a specialist at a hospital to get a biopsy, waking at 5am and getting home after 7pm, my back hurt so much on the drive home, I had to stop several times to stand up and try to stretch. 12 hours in an airport and then another 8 hour flight across the Atlantic, I'd be biting everyone's heads off.
So sorry to hear about your experience. When flying with AC, It looks like it might be a good idea to purchase travel insurance with a reputable company. I strongly advise everyone to read the coverage thoroughly because there are limitations. However, many will cover that long of a delay.
I was on a flight and was told I can’t use my phone on the flight, even in flight-safe mode. I asked why and was told it was against aviation law. I thanked her for the information and asked the name of the head steward. After all, if it’s against the law, this means all other airlines are breaking the law and I wanted a reference for that. After a quick conversation between her and head steward, suddenly this law no longer existed and I (and fellow passengers) can use phones in flight-safe mode. I considered thanking her for getting the law changed for me, but resisted the temptation.
I’ve thanked them for changing the law before. I try to fly knockoff airlines (small plane one FA) now because it’s such a better experience although it takes longer and there are no amenities, I never have to deal with FA nonsense. The FA always someone who’s been in the game forever and got tired of the nonsense themselves. Haha
Just a few weeks ago, I encountered the rudest, snarkiest, poutiest ground and flight attendants on an Air Canada flight from Tokyo, and a Toronto to Chicago connecting flight. What a contrast to my Japan Airlines (impeccable as always) experience that preceded it. First time ever to fly Air Canada. Never. Again.
They probably saw your channel and your viewer count and quickly realized they'd be doing more harm than good. Glad you still documented the first few interactions though
As a AC frequent flyer, I can corroborate with your experience on several flights - domestic and international. Within Canada they are a oligopolistic carrier (like the phone and cable companies) which has engaged in regulatory capture in Canada and continues to dole out lousy service at high prices.
Basically Air Canada writes all the air regs and lazy federal analysts/execs just rubber stamp. Transport Canada and their brethren are VERY industry friendly to the point of absurdity. Fed employees routinely become government relations execs for the airlines. No ethics concerns there.
2:27: When I started shaking my head and saying, "You poor, poor man." My sister moved to Canada 32 years ago so I am *intimately* familiar with Air Canada and their ever declining level of service and rising ticket price. It got to the point where I would take the train there rather than be treated to the hit-or-miss level of service you receive from the airline. Here's what I'll say because I don't have a following or any way to advertise how randomly rudely I've been treated by Air Canada, but your experience did *not* surprise me. Fun fact, broke my leg in Canada and when I arrived 2 hours early at the airport, took an hour for Air Canada to find me a wheelchair to get me on the flight. I lost count of the number of times they asked me in an annoyed and exasperated fashion if I could hobble my way to the gate on my crutches while I explained I was in a soft cast and the emergency room dr had explained ABSOLUTELY TO AVOID PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE LEG. Luckily, I was there with my brother-in-law and he advocated for me, since I was in pain and just plain worn out. Glad you got to film and share your experience.
It's been a trash airline forever. Internationally, you have many choices of airlines, almost anything is better (and probably cheaper), domestically WestJet is a much better option.
" took an hour for Air Canada to find me a wheelchair to get me on the flight" Sorry, but wheeling you to the flight is provided by the airport, not the airline. Such undeserved criticism.
@@thomas.0 And how it works is that you need to inform your airline at least 48h before the departure and they will arrange it with the airports. Now, when you don't do that and arrive one hour before the departure at the airport demanding wheelchair, the airport will work on the problem and your airline won't probably be even notified.
You could have asked the airport ground airport personnel, volunteers for a wheelchair and wheel you in your seat. Airlines cant take responsibility of your medical condition...flight attendants are not wait persons, hotel workers or baby sitters..they are flight attendants.

We all agree they are criminals, but we are the same as american in the fact we are capitalists, and they are such rich criminals, they control the laws that would regulate them to go to jail, thus we are powerless to stop them.
The worst part for me was the bowing and scrapping once they figured out who you were. As a person who has been on many AC flights, I can say that they are not usually that bad, but they can be and most of us have had both bad and better experiences. But I prefer WestJet and now I can fly Porter to visit family in Vancouver.
I have watched about a hundred Air Canada reviews and flown them a couple of times. "We are rude" should be their motto. These are the most depressing employees I've ever dealt with. It's a shame because they generally offer a good product at a fair price.
I live in Canada and it's well known that Air Canada's motto is "We are not happy until you are not happy". Try Westjet or another airline always! Thanks for the video.
Telling someone reviewing their experience on your airline to shut off their camera and not to film is like a food reviewer walking into a restaurant and once the chef finds out who he is intentionally burns his food.
Not really a good comparison. The flight attendants probably didn't assume he has any sort of following or status, but rather they only saw the negative side in that, some passenger was filming, with no regard to the consequences of this,
It's not just you.. When I flew to Ottawa 3 years ago, I had the whole back how to myself and I was filming taking off and the air hostess said I wasn't allowed to film... But I was young and naïve so I didn't, but good for you for sticking up for yourself and record content for us, love your videos!
You did well and reported your experience truthfully. Great to know that your filming will improve flight experiences for other travellers, Great work.
Among the most depressing experiences of the past 1.5 years has been witnessing the enthusiasm with which some low-quality folks will assert their newfound authority. Thanks for the review
That's in human nature unfortunately, most humans are just petty buttholes. But it is a task for a good airline (company in general) to suppress it in their employees.
Personally, I’ve never experienced poor crews. And I’ve flown them so many times internationally and about 12-15 round trips domestically per year for the past 7 years. That’s ONLY my experience. Now, their food offerings internationally is another story. Their new seats with hard plastic armrests are also not ideal. The worst is when someone is enforcing a law that doesn’t exist. The worst thing I experienced was on a westjet flight where a crew member, while making space in an overhead locker, slammed some poor guys bag on the floor. When he politely asked to be careful as there was a laptop in there, she retorted with a rude “well, it can’t be in there like that” remark and stormed off. We were all stunned.
We call it “Scare Canada” for a reason. I have had so many negative experiences with this company, each of them involving shockingly poor interactions with FAs, check in counter staff, and “cost saving measures” (aka crappy food). I’m glad they made things right for you, but I suspect you’re right about one thing: if you didn’t have followers on RUclips and Instagram, you’d be just another statistic in the “burned by AC” demographic.
One time I was flying back from Orlando on business, MOMENTS after a father took their young son to the washroom, a long piece of trim fell off the top of the luggage compartment and landed right on the seat where the toddler would have sat. I called the crew chief over and for the entire flight, though I reminded them twice to talk to the mom who was on the other side of the middle column to my row, they never did in the two hours we were in the air. I did get a call from their head office apologizing for my “experience” and the whole BS about their maintenance crew ALWAYS check everything to ensure safety….gave me a voucher (which I never used, because it ain’t right for me to use that). I asked them if they have contact that family to apologize, her answer “I am sure someone has.” “I am sure”? That’s a “no”, then.
I think the power handed to FA's following 911 gave many of them a god complex I've never met so many rude and threatening FA's in my life since 2001 it's truly scary.. Anything above a whisper and they start accusing you of being disruptive and "threatening" them when all you asked was a reasonable question... It's by no means all and I've had many good experiences with FA's who've went above and beyond but I can safely say pre 911 that was 99% of them today maybe 80%..
I will never forgot one time when I needed help and one of the Air Canada FA told me "Can't you see that I am busy?!". Don't ever fly Air Canada unless you have no other choices. I've paid more in many occasions to fly with other airlines because most of the Air Canada FAs don't give a damn about Customer Service.
Thank you so much for saving me money and the inconvenience of flying on such an inconsistent quality airline. Having over 300K business miles on Singapore Airlines, one wants to be “absolutely sure” every single leg of every single flight is an awesome experience. There are better choices out there than these folks.
I am a Canadian ATPL corporate pilot for the past 26 years on a CJ4 Gen2 Air Canada pilots are arrogant , the crews are stuck up and snobs. Aircraft are poorly maintained And they totally fear bad publicity Its been like that for years I never fly with them .
Watched this and then tried to board an air Canada flight… can confirm that the experience was the WORST ever and that every single employee (especially the managers) had the most terrible attitude.
So glad you posted this experience.. so many power trippers need to be stepped down a few notches! What’s so hard about being respectful and courteous to well meaning customers..

I remember 10 years ago I was catching a flight from Ottawa to London. As I approached the airport - maybe 15 miles away - I saw a MASSIVE storm rolling in. Dark skies, thunder and high wind could be seen in the distance. When I got to the airport - I checked in as usual. I cleared customs and awaited my flight. As I waited - I was told my flight would be delayed. My flight was supposed to leave around 7 and it was around 4.30 in the afternoon. I waited - and looking out the window - I could see TONS of planes accumulating outside as they could not unload passengers due to lightning. No gate was announced for my flight and no news was given to me about my flight. I waited until 3am until I was told my flight was delayed until the next morning. When they told all the passengers they were going to delay our flight - they made sure the cops were standing by to keep us in line. Unfortunately at this point it was 3.30am and the new time of our flight was 9am. I had no time to get to a hotel so had to sleep at the airport. If Air Canada had told those on the London flight that it would be delayed until the next day at 7pm - we could have all gone to a hotel and rested. This would have been an easy announcement to make as there were SO MANY domestic flights waiting to be unloaded. I have since flown them a couple times since and can say Air Canada never misses an opportunity to disappoint.
I know someone that needed to travel to Toronto from our home province for medical appointments. The flight there was Okay, but the flight home was canceled 4 times due to a snow storm and he was stuck in the airport for 4 days. Air Canada wouldn’t do anything to help, no food vouchers, no hotel room. Absolutely nothing they just had to sit at the airport and wait
Air Canada was the first flight I've been on where I got literally laughed at for asking for a blanket to sleep. Jokes on them I'm never flying with them again.
They only reached out because you have a following. A regular person would get the standard loophole waste of time. I flew Air Canada in may last year to NY. I suppose raising a stink on media could have done something.....but id rather just not fly them again. I am glad they made things right and hopefully educated their staff. Thanks for the video!

I’ve flown with Air Canada on several occasions and it’s an underwhelming experience and the staff are cold and stiff. That’s why we Canadians typically avoid Air Canada.
That’s a fascinating experience. Given the abrupt turnaround of attitude with that FA, I wonder whether your social media had already been spotted, or if another member of the crew (or that pilot next to you?) had noticed and corrected the FA.
I’m really grateful for this review. An honest transparent depiction of how you were treated. And I believe you are right, if you were not a travel influencer who knows if you would have received an apology or food vouchers.
That lady def came back with a change of demeanor because someone had called her from outside the flight when they saw your post. Too bad that companies like this only do damage control when attention is put on things by media. If you didn’t have a following, they definitely would have ignored your post.
I've spent an extra $100 just to fly with another company.
did they consider asking your friend how to actually collapse it?
you're better off swimming across atlantic than travelling with AC.
There's actually many cases of Air Canada destroying wheelchairs. It's a weird phenomenon.
Wow.

Did you pursue a chargeback on your credit card?
Just happened to me! I haven't flown yet, and, however, my wife and I are sitting together again, for now!

Really, if it is true, it is awful! I thought Canada was "besties" like universes' bff.
Save yourself the hassle and just walk. Never AC ever again.
Air Canada owns WestJet

My experience with Air Canada is awful too! One time I was flying back to Canada and a passenger was under 5ft. She couldn’t stow her carryon in the overhead. I told her off and said it’s her job to help passengers. It’s not like the passenger was being entitled. She really couldn’t do it. It might’ve been a work safety thing, which I get, but we all know passengers sometimes need help. It makes no sense. Its a customer need and they don’t provide that service. Their attendants only get paid when the plane is in the air and not before, so all that ground time is free labour. They really are one of the worst companies you'd never want to work for, or fly with.
It's terrible, but I gather that it's usually the case across the industry that crew only get paid when airborne.
That’s the industry’s standard
As mentioned, that's how the entire airline industry works. The flight attendants only get paid once the plane is in the air.
Like the other guys, I can confirm that's the industry norm.
All airlines in the entire world to my knowledge do not pay until the door is shut

That’s beautiful! Just lovely! Unfortunately, something tells that this incident was not a first for Air Canada.

Haha
I just guffawed.
Must have had a bad day.just like my recent flight on BA when you can tell the steward/ess have had a crap day
Just a few weeks ago, I encountered the rudest, snarkiest, poutiest ground and flight attendants on an Air Canada flight from Tokyo, and a Toronto to Chicago connecting flight. What a contrast to my Japan Airlines (impeccable as always) experience that preceded it. First time ever to fly Air Canada. Never. Again.
Yup JAL and ANA have such great service.
you realize that ground staff in tokyo are not Air Canada staff correct?
@@patriciathompson9050 Of course. No problem with Tokyo ground.
Lol from the news ive seen and things i was told by residents it seems like its a Canada thing.
Too much cacaphoney. Get to the quick.
So why are you a frequent flyer?
Basically Air Canada writes all the air regs and lazy federal analysts/execs just rubber stamp. Transport Canada and their brethren are VERY industry friendly to the point of absurdity. Fed employees routinely become government relations execs for the airlines. No ethics concerns there.
@ : clearly due to lack of alternatives Sherlock... 🤪
" took an hour for Air Canada to find me a wheelchair to get me on the flight"
Sorry, but wheeling you to the flight is provided by the airport, not the airline. Such undeserved criticism.
@@vulc1 And it's the airline's responsibility to arrange that with the airport.
I'm Canadian, I agree completely with your review, I've had bad experiences with them too, I will not fly Air Canada anywhere.
But Canada is paradise compared to the USA! (as we hear from Canadians ad nauseam)
@J.W. S.D Canadians can be fascists, who knew?!
@J.W. S.D I'm talking about this Air Canada crew. Maybe things aren't so "perfect" in Canada after all ;-)
@J.W. S.D You all do act a bit self-righteous. Every Canadian I've ever met has something snarky to say about America and Americans.
@@christopher3386 One criminal organization does not represent us as a country.
Glad you had the viewing power to get it addressed because, in my experience, AC doesn't give a crap about its passengers.
so sorry you had to experience this!! & thanks for your channel!!
Telling someone reviewing their experience on your airline to shut off their camera and not to film is like a food reviewer walking into a restaurant and once the chef finds out who he is intentionally burns his food.
🤣😭💀 omg that is actually very comparable great thought!
Not really a good comparison. The flight attendants probably didn't assume he has any sort of following or status, but rather they only saw the negative side in that, some passenger was filming, with no regard to the consequences of this,
a better comparison would be to not hand out cutlery to the food reviewer.
@@bob-carnatu-sef wait until you have a taste of AC service. AC is just garbage 🤮
Self-sabotage
It's not just you.. When I flew to Ottawa 3 years ago, I had the whole back how to myself and I was filming taking off and the air hostess said I wasn't allowed to film... But I was young and naïve so I didn't, but good for you for sticking up for yourself and record content for us, love your videos!
You did well and reported your experience truthfully. Great to know that your filming will improve flight experiences for other travellers, Great work.
Yeah, by AVOIDING AIR CANADA like the Covid.
And it was this video that earned my subscribed. Thanks for using your platform for good. ❤❤❤
I’ve managed to avoid flying air Canada for 20 years. As a Canadian, it’s embarrassing

Scare Canada I love that
One time I was flying back from Orlando on business, MOMENTS after a father took their young son to the washroom, a long piece of trim fell off the top of the luggage compartment and landed right on the seat where the toddler would have sat.

Thank you so much for saving me money and the inconvenience of flying on such an inconsistent quality airline.
I now live in Hong Kong and fly to Canada regularly. I never take Air Canada and fly business mostly.
