Take a secret friend on the same flight as you, next time! Interested in seeing whether there is a contrast in service. Air Canada has spoiled several flights for me (far before the pandemic excuse) and I've been booking with ANYONE else ever since. The last straw was standing at the front of the check-in line, watching the two attendants with empty desks gossip about the weekend for 20 minutes. When they finally casually called us up to the desk, they were like "oops, you missed check-in! Want to pay for the next flight?" Fortunately the supervisor was sitting across the hallway at another desk and was well aware we were standing there the whole time. We were still late to our destination, but at least the new flight was comped. Never took AC again (and never will!)

I showed my boarding pass, I was then showed to my seat but was stopped again by another flight attendant who checked my boarding pass again and asked if it was mine. At that point I didn't care if they kicked me off, I.asked her if she thought I borrowed it. She then proceeded to show me my seat. The service was the worst service I have ever received on any airline.

Just watched both of your videos of Air Canada, and it is so on the money. I regularly fly Air Canada Business and there is a massive difference between flying within NA and the long haul flights over the pond and to East Asia especially. When you are set for those 8-16hr flights with Air Canada, the FA's are so kind and very professional, food selection is great, bedding is made for you, and all other things you would expect are there.. Under 5hr flights, the service certainly diminishes as well as the amenities (bedding, cutlery, beverages, food). In those flights, FA's don't really care and you feel like its more of a milk run than a luxury flying experience. Its a very different experience all together. I have flown with them an incredible number of times, never had a car to the gate, never had a concierge officer to assist me to the gate, etc. They definitely gave you the suck up treatment. As Air Canada becomes more popular, I really hope they step it up and become more of a leader in the space.

I have always had amazing service on Air Canada, both domestic and international, economy, premium economy, and business. They are my preferred airline. In the mid 1990s I was struggling financially in New Brunswick and my father died back home in Ontario. I had heard that AC offered compassionate fares. I called, they approved, and I was on a flight the next day. I was in shock and began to freak out a bit and went up to the cabin crew at the front of the plane for help. They calmed me and invited me to sit in the jump seat behind the pilots with a headset on. I watched there for 30 min including a fantastic approach and landing at Pearson in Toronto. I felt so much calmer after that experience. I was able to hold it together, more or less, in the hard days that followed. Thank you, Captain Brian Hope and the rest of the crew for coming through for me in my hour of need. I'll never forget your kindness.

In the past, it was relavtively expensive to fly or even travel, so it was an occasion. People would dress as a sign of respect to the other passengers and flight crew, to show it was a special occasion. Not just like a commuter bus journey, as it is treated today. And to be fair, it has become accessible as a bus is, so why not dress comfortably?... just as long as we aren't offending anyone with our BO or from dirty clothes. Anyway, I wear the same thing every day at the sharp end of the pointy tube, as a sign of respect to my fellow travellers... I don't think you would want to see otherwise!

I fly with Air Canada all the time. Other than going into the cockpit, my experience has almost always been great. I do fly a lot, so I get concierge service, the service director always comes over in business class and introduces him/herself. Food is generally good, wines are well selected, and hard spirits are now available. All pre-covid services have been restored, meaning no more plastic utensils. The lounges are better than most in North America other than Centurion lounges.

The concierge catching your review while you were at the airport is impressive proactive business tactics. Point of fact, the former CEO of T-Mobile (John Legere) used to monitor the social media space and reach out to customers who had a complaint and get them addressed immediately.

If business class is not full, often resolved by switching seats.

I dreaded dealing with them because the attitude I received was that they were doing me the favour of using their services, it was awful! In your original video, you exposed their true colours and how they treat their customers. This deluxe treatment is due to your exposure and the impact it will have on their business. We flew the 787 which was a great experience but the staff were rude, curt, and overall offputting. We were served dinner at 9am and when we asked why made to feel like we were the idiots for questioning a dinner serving at breakfast. The food was lousy as well. I have blocked AIr Canada from my flying choices and recommend the same to anyone doing long-haul flights, especially in the business or first-class space. Far too many competitors with substantially better service.
