Love your content as always. Also as a crew member on a major premium airline I love that you understand that airline management are responsible for short comings and not the crew. Many other vloggers such as josh seem to refer to crew as “lazy” and that comes across as insanely entitled and disrespectful. I love that you never complain about crew and can see through on board issues to their origin unlike other vloggers who only see things on the surface and can’t critically think to why things may be a certain way. I have lots of respect for that so thank you. I’m sure the crew were stressed and understaffed on that flight (trust me I know how they feel) as my own airline tends to cut costs on having a reduced amount of staff compared to other airlines in the Middle East or Asia. Great content and videos you’re by far the best airline vlogger on RUclips. Keep it up.
Whilst BA has seen some improvement recently - I’m sad that my national airline is simply not up to par. There are so many cheaper and better options out there. Come on BA. Do Britain proud. Dan, you’re a legend!
Yes, same here. The impression I get is that in Economy they are basically Ryanair with a bowtie. I avoid both!

Firstly its NOT British! It may have that name but its owned by IAG out of Spain. The CEO, Cruz, is ex budget airline Vuelling -need I say more? If you want a good Airline try any of the top ten. Qatar, Singapore, ANA, Cathay, Emirates, EVA, Hainan, Qantas, Lufthansa and Thai. Note BA did not even come close.

Dan ... Sorry to see your flight wasn’t up to par 😔. The meal looked lame and I hope it wasn’t because of your dietary choices. I don’t have dietary restrictions so haven’t ever had skimpy meal like that ... still no excuse for Business Class. Also the length of time for meal service is totally without any excuse. Lastly, British isn’t the only one that charges for advance seat selection in Business. I fly Swiss from the States to Zurich a couple times a year to visit my Sister. Swiss charges $149.00 USD each way if you want to reserve the throne seat. That’s on top of the $6,500.00 cost of flying Business Class. That’s just not right. Super surprised by the food service you had. I’ve been fortunate enough to fly club multiple times in the last few years & the food/presentation and service has been fantastic. Here’s hoping this is only a kink in the new club suite service that’s ironed out quick. Another great video, also 👏🏼

The seat seems pretty much identical to the new Air Canada international business seat. I was on the Vienna-Toronto flight a few days back and I recognize every single feature. Only difference is the colours, loved the seat and had a great sleep.

With charging for seat selection they do something for their frequent flyers. Because they don’t have to pay for seat selection and usually don’t book so far ahead. I think it’s a nice perk for Executive Club members.

Yes, finally taking my first post Covid trip and the BA charge for seats were ridiculous. I had to pay for 4 flight for 2 people because we had a layover.

Thanks for posting this video. I've been waiting for this route to be reviewed. BA has some really tough competition on this route and I'm surprised at the low service levels. I HATE it when you pay for premium service and you get economy pax lining up for the lav.

Honestly I think the food you got reallly didn't match my recent experiences in Club World. I flew the JFK route a few times this year and the new catering from DO and Co always impressed me and was the best I've experienced on a central European carrier. Maybe it's because of your special meal, but what you got was definitely unacceptable, especially that everything was wrapped in plastic. Also the waiting times I experienced were much lower. I fly on the A350 to YYZ in December. I hope that my non special meal is living up to what I recently got on my JFK and EWR flights and that by then they either increased stuff or they got more used to the new aircraft. So my conclusion of your video: I'm happy that the seat is great and for all the rest I can only say let's hope it's to the new aircraft and your special meal (Which definitely needs to be better). Cause as I said the new DoCo meals so far were amazing!
If nothing else, enjoy the A350!

Incredible they charge for seat selection in business! Is this a new thing, as that never used to be the case. Having said that, I haven’t flown with them for a while!
I remember when seat selection at BA was free of charge and they were just so friendly and flexible with your requests. Now they seem to have gone downhill unfortunately :( although the business class looks lush !

Thanks for another great review! Spot on comments about the slowness of meal and drink service on BA. Whenever I am sitting downstairs on a 747 or A380 I make it a point to go to the galley after takeoff and put in a drink request, otherwise it can take over an hour to get a drink. This is the downside to having so many business class PAX vs crew.
HOWEVER, I have to say I'm surprised by the catering here. The food across the BA offering (including in Club Europe) has been improving steadily over the past 2-3 years and I've not had a bad meal in the last 10 flights (inc prem economy/WTP where you get the same meal as business/CW). I've also never had anything served in plastic in CW. I wonder if the catering quality issues are unique to those with special dietary requirements, perhaps worsened by the less experienced mixed fleet. I appreciate being vegan isn't so "special" these days, but I wonder if it might be fairer to point that out more explicitly? Also, did you request special meals prior to departure? You can do this in the app/ online.

I flew BA economy from London to Johannesburg in an A380. I paid some $80 extra to get the best seat in economy. When I came onboard there was a just married couple sitting there. They would't move. The flight attendant was kind enough to take me to a tour around the whole airplane, both upstairs and downstairs, to choose a new seat. I ended up choosing a seat 10 rows from where I should have been sitting. That seat was only half the price, but no refund.
Is that a business model? BA overbooking expensive seats? Ok, it's only $40 difference, you could say, but I paid for a product that I did not get.

Lovin all of the videos Dan and I hope you could please try flying economy in Flydubai and also Spicejet & Indigo which are really good budget airlines from India that are both regularly selling tickets for a price of around only $50 per flight which is less than double of what it costs to enter most airport lounges!

Super video as ever. Am I right in thinking that you tend to pre-order a meal with special dietary requirements? I kinda feel like it should be pointed out as the quality of the regular menu items is far better. I appreciate other airlines do better special meals and BA ought to too, but your experience with the food is unlikely to be reflected for the majority of flyers.

I like the fact that they charge for seats (selfishly) as it frees up the seats for status pax so we have a better choice when we book
Im so happy we still have the Queen of the Skies on our route. I can never get enuff of the clubworld upperdeck. Have never been disappointed for the 19 years I have flown in it. Better than First everytime

Great review as always Dan. Lipstick on a pig is about right for BA. The new seat is an obvious improvement though but for each route they fly there are many other better prices and better spec competitors

BA are doing a massive PR job on telling us Brits how heavily focused they are on improving their product, including a documentary series on domestic TV. I really hope they watch this and see how much further they've got to go - some aspects of the service (food, seat charging) are abysmal for the price they charge. ba does do a really great job at filling their flights. flew cape town to london and back plane was hella full in both directions. on the return flight i was prepared to pay for an upgrade but they said no-can-do as there was no space in the other cabins. guessing this must be good for the shareholders
I read something about their club suite and they said that these were crew training flights, meaning that the cabin crew are getting used to the layout, that's why you had to wait a long time, normal flights will resume in march, btw great video
I love that eye mask as well! And the pillow is Hungarian goose down, so divine! I had to get one from the White company after flying Club :)
U should find out how they meet the US DOT requirement. The entry is so narrow, it’s difficult for disabled pax to get into the suites.

What seems so weird is that this is a complete opposite to what I experienced in July. My flight was a 10 hour Gatwick to Tampa in club world. My seat was the exact same as the one in your Madrid video with exactly the same entertainment ( think the reg was GYMMS there and GYMMD on the way back) but definitely showing their age they were very tatty. But the crew was amazing, helpful and quick. The food was great quality and all done with in under 1 hour! Maybe it’s BA’s lack of ability to cater to those with dietary restrictions but i personally have always found their food really decent. Maybe with the long wait theyre still training crews and the ovens and other equipment are new to them and they’re struggling to get food out on time. Maybe it will settle once more @
A350s are out and more crews are trained on it.

Me and my family have been on emirates first class 4 times because I have family who live in Dubai. We are supposed to be going to Toronto business class in November. In the summer we are going to Australia quantas first class. Btw you have great informative videos.

I think you are being charitable saying they were a great crew when they took 3 and a half hours to serve a meal. The salad and dessert where very basic and should take almost no time no prepare, and how long does it take to heat a curry and rice ?
