Shadow of the Colossus PS4 Remaster Hydrus Boss Battle Playstation Remake 60fps
Something about a vast body of water where you can't see below the surface terrifies me. Especially with the knowledge that something huge is lurking beneath the depths.

There’s a more specific phobia that you might have, megalohydrothalassophobia (fear of large creatures or objects underwater)

Psychologically known as "fear of the infinite". I had in childhood, it's the typical fear of deeper, darkest things that can't be fully saw/understood. I had the fear to swimming in the deepest blue sea. Now, no more because I've rationally accomplished that I'm part of it.
For me it was pretty hard not to look deep in the water during the mission. Thalassophobia hits me harder in video games
To be honest fighting this boss is already a nightmare for me
This fight always unsettled me. Even back on the ps2 version. Being in open bodies of water scares the shit out of me. If I'm in a boat all is well, but swimming is a Texas sized fuck no.
I am so thankful that there weren't any more underwater colossi. It's bad enough that two others took place on lakes.
I'm playing around with the night filter and took some shots... Some sceneries look really creepy. But that filter underwater? Absolute nightmare fuel

When I originally played this, I stayed up high on the stairs because I was REALLY uncomfortable with going down by the water. On perfect cue, Dormin said "you have to go down to the colossus." This really tapped into my fear of things in the deep.

I stopped playing after seeing this colossus, and only decided to play it again after 2-3 days.

This guy was my worst fears come to life. I hated and was terrified of this fight....that's why I love it 👍
- Hurr durr there's weird little guy painfully stabbing my oh so vulnerable weak points. It would be rude to not let him grasp some of that air thingy whilst he tries to mercilessly murder my catfish ass.

Wanted to play this game for a while but was terrified at the thought of fighting a huge sea monster boss like this luckily my sister volunteered to help me get through all the aquatic sections
I wasn't even aware of this bloody phobia till i fought this boss. Legit just gave the controller away for this encounter.

The original was scarier due to being darker.

@@jonasfadi8213 I'm talking about the general perception, not art choices. Fear of the unknown is deeply ingrained in our bodies. A large creature that you can't properly see in the dark waters is scary as fuck.

I am scared of underwater stuff, but for some reason, this didn't scare me that much.
On the contrary, I found it badass, I think the boss distracted me from the vast open sunken city, hell it's probably less terrifying to KNOW something is in there with you, rather than not knowing something is there with you or not, I think you can see what I mean.
I would rather swim in that lake with Hydrus alive, than with Hydrus dead.
Avion's arena? That's a fucking terrifying different story.
Pelagia's arena? I'm not really sure tbh I'm still deciding.
somehow the ps2 version seems more scarier to me..
Someone else described the reason why in another video, I remember... they added the underwater foliage in the remake, you can feel a sense of "ground". But in the original, there was no foliage, just total darkness, so it looked more like an endless abyss beneath the water - giving the sense that being dragged down the lake would be significantly more terrifying.

It was far darker and harder to see, also think he used to make more noise. And the fact u can see a bottom really ruins it, instead of endless black abyss its big gray lake

I remember playing this game when I was 10 and having a blast with it until I reached this boss and it dragged me down
I immediately felt unsettled and uncomfortable....
I did beat it after struggling to even look at the screen for most part ...never ever have I played this boss again even when I got to play the remastered version on ps4

I don't know why but next to phaedra avion and that one flying sand collosi i felt really bad for Hydrus. Despite my fear of deep water it was so magestic and beautiful only attacking when i disturbed its water which registered as a threat. Hes just a little catfish... He wasn't hurting anybody. The poor baby.
took me a solid 5 minutes to work out how to get this thing to aggro me in the original. hate this fish

I don’t care if people find hydrus annoying or repetitive, I disagree. I adore Hydrus the sea snake.
This colossus was fine. " Silence" and " In Awe of the Power" are great for this boss, but not much happens. It's more of a test of Stamina than a threat. At least Hydrus isn't the worst water based boss to me.

Dirge is the scariest because he relentlessly pursues you. Constantly on your tail with his eyes peeking out of the sand reminiscent of a crocodile
Why do you keep stabbing on the same spot, every spot needs 1 stab to disable its "electric thing"
