- One of he hardest bosses in Hard Time Attack.
Fortunately there is an alternative way how to beat Argus as designed by Team ICO. This game is all about game play mechanics discovery. I love how this puzzled boss fight is open to many strategic possibilities. It's really very rewarding in the end when you figure it out. Like Dark souls, eh?
I just got lucky to find out the tricks here.
Shooting his sword arm above the crosswalk/bridge is one of them. Note: shooting his arm sigil below the crosswalk/bridge will not make him drop his sword.

You know, this fight gets only half as awesome with the music off like that.
Still, great tutorial. I managed to make him drop the sword with an arrow earlier today, but still couldn't beat him in time. I then spent many subsequent runs trying to repeat that shot. But I would try to shoot him from below, and it never worked. I was almost thinking it had been a bug.

I didnt realize one of his vitals were on his chest, yesterday i was trying to beat him but in a different way, and since i didnt realize he had a vital in his chest, i shot arrows at him, but when he was low it wasnt working. So thanks for that

A great help, thanks. One good shot with the bow will make him drop his sword. When on the ground, jump straight backwards (directly away from colossus) to avoid his fist then run towards the inside of it and grab.

I killed him in hard mode on the ps2 without making him drop his sword, I think its because I took down a lot of his health with the harpoon
Yes. That is another gameplay option I was surprised to discover.
This is such a difficult fight due to how much he squirms when you're on his chest and due to the fact that, for some reason, he would often pull his hand away from me before opening it - making it impossible to grab onto.
This trick really helped me out a lot. There's absolutely no way I could have climbed from his chest to his arm before losing stamina.

i will try your tip, it's too simple on PS4, the reason why we have 11 minutes 30 on PS3, it's much more difficult, the health by stroke full sword is not as huge ..it is extremely rare for him to allow himself to be stabbed three times without flinching.

Purity sure I just did that faster on my 1st try. with only 2 vital spots and I was able to lower his health before I ever climbed him

i must have shot 15full shots at his sigil but he never dropped his weapon. instead of using the bridge though i go to the left of him near the cliffs and duck in a bush. this makes him turnaround and i get in 2 to 3 clean shots. as soon he turns just rinse and repeat. any ideas..?
In my experience Argus will only drop his sword when you shoot his arm sigil from atop any bridge. Shooting his sigil below the bridge, like in this video, will not make him drop his sword. I hope I answered your question.
