Old Composer REACTS to JINJER I Speak Astronomy | Reaction & Analysis | Composers Point of View
🤦♂️OMGGGG!! Sooooo sorry for saying "I Speak Anatomy". Old man FAIL without my glasses! Boy am I going to get it now!! Be gentle :)
I got a good chuckle out of it. We’re music lovers man. That’s the beauty, we can take music seriously but still not take ourselves too seriously. Great reaction as always keep it up man.
All good! When I listen to Jinjer, I tend to speak anatomy, too ;-)
I'm sure you do speak anatomy fluently...your lady is a lucky woman.
Hello, Geebz.
First things first, highly enjoy your input as a DEcomposer, and been watching your videos a bit.
But most importantly I wanted to ask your thoughts on how a young guitarist in this day and age can keep his drive to continue to commit to the craft?
I mean, there are alot of outside factors in my life right now that might not let me focus fully on practice, for sure, but really I am having problems channeling my feelings to the sound,
and after 5 years it' s become to really bother me, and after a year of starting to practice less and less, for the past two months I haven' t had the will to pluck the strings once.
Keep doing the awesome things you do, people appreciate it!
Best regards from Latvia!
@@danman1471 Hey Dan. GREAT QUESTION! Thinking of a video response to this because I have gotten a few of the same kind of thoughts/questions from young musicians. But for now, close your eyes and let it flow......
"I Speak Anatomy" 🤣🤣🤣... I 'm honored to be the first one to laugh at that! Man, you gonna get it in the comments 😂.
Oooooooooooh crap - better fix that!!
@@KeyOfGeebz You said it though, you'll have to edit that out. I understand though, easy to misread as you're filming.
I bet the song makes more sense now.. lmao.... but to be honest I think of anatomy EVERY TIME i see Tatiana.
it killed me xD
If you ever see her perform this live, she does indeed speak anatomy.
Probably my favorite Jinjer tune. That false ending gives me chills every damn time.
Same!
Absolutely my favorite Jinjer song, hands down. Have you ever listened to The Mars Volta? The part you're referring to sounds EXACTLY like a section of a Mars Volta song to the point where I think about it every single time I hear it.
Was mine also until i realised she is using lightyears as a unit of time and not distance -.- still a beautiful tune but god it annoys me everytime
I took two friends to see them live a few years ago and the whole time I was like "guys, just fucking wait for it . . " and yeeeaaaahhh she can pull it off live.
Fair, try out "On the Top"
Does anyone complain that a song reminds you of Rush's YYZ?
Anything that reminds you of Rush's YYZ is, by definition, amazing.
There's a Mastodon tune on Crack the Skye that just throws the YYZ riff in for a bar. It's amazing, I smile every time I hear it.
Now you mention it I can hear it. Kind of like turned around.
YYZ on crack
Rush is entirely amazing, thanks to the Pro who's nailed it, as e.g. Opeth go for "Yes" and that's a major difference...
Yeah, when she kicks that melody up an octave for the finale and belts it out...hair stands on end. Love all their stuff but this sing is my favorite... pure prog bliss.
Great reaction, thank you.
It's a "love song" from Tatiana. She was lonely when she wrote it. After 28 (light) years (her age) she still was looking for her soulmate in this or even in parallel universe and she begging Universe for help. That's why we could definitely feel her soul in the last belting part.
Their bassist is incredible. I'd recommend another by them but you honestly can't go wrong with what you pick. IMO they don't make bad songs.
Eugene is a beast!!
Eugene is a bass beast. Absolutely. Vlad is nearly a drumming god. Roman is insane. And then there's Queen Tatiana! The whole band is awesome.
@@Duane_Grabert but there is no Vlad on this tune, this should be Dmytro Kim their former drummer
No bad Jinjer but I was really impressed with their latest video of "Home Back". It is deep and about their war torn home but great.
Great video and song. That jazzy change up in it is great as well.
The riffs in that are mental. Cannot figure out the sub divisions.
Judgement and Punishment will blow your mind.
That main guitar riff is insane.
Yeah, I never realized how much there was to it until they released the guitar playthrough track. Every single member of the band is so dang talented.
*riff
@@rickc2102 thanks
This song is sublimity itself. Tatiana is definitely 'goddess level'. Excellent reaction sir.
what an epic frame to pause it on at 13:00 ...i need that as a poster now.
Tatiana's voice at the end of the song give me the "chicken skin," every time. I can't get enough of that section.
i get really suprised when you mention things about the music, having a trained ear really makes the difference clear.
I really like the analysis from an engineering and mix standpoint. This is something different than other reactions from other folks. It's a nice touch to the total scope of your reaction. Nice work!
Yeah, it'd be great to go more into depth on the technical details! And even a little bit more music theory, as well.
If you want more Jinger i recommend "Cloud Factory"
LIGHT

INTO EXTERIOR!
You have great taste my dude
Amazing how she's so separate and, yet, connected to the beat. She really is a most unique human instrument. Of the gods, all four of them. The engineering too. Meditative and therapeutic.
OMG that voice is great!!!!
Great reaction Old Composer!! As an Old Player myself, I really appreciate when a vint... er, I mean "veteran" musician reacts to music as high-caliber and sophisticated as Jinjer! Very insightful. Speaking of drummers, this insane "mad man" drummer is their former drummer Dmitry Kim, who played all the tracks on KOE. He's killer! So, needless to say, it took another insane "mad man" drummer, Vlad Ulasevich, to learn all Dmitry's parts (and the other former drummers of Jinjer, who were all badasses...!), and then take it up notch with the newer Jinjer albums MICRO and MACRO! Here's a vid Napalm just dropped of Vlad's drum play-through of "Under the Dome", another killer track off KOE!!! You should react to it! It's MIGHTY!!!! ruclips.net/video/REhvnW7ZzsQ/видео.html
Jinjer is one of those bands that come along every 20 30 yrs that blows your mind... please keep digging into them
This was the first song I ever heard from Jinjer, never looked back. One of the best modern bands out there, so glad I got to see them live too!
Eugene (bass) has some play throughs on youtube I think you would enjoy. I love his style! The whole band is incredible.
Tool - VICARIOUS, for amazing production.
As well as right in two🤘🏼
And the main riff is so saucy
Their arrangements and composition is always on point. Then you haven't even considered lyrical content, being a composer😆😆been a metalhead since the late 70s this band is AMAZING 😈🤘
Music keeps us young...just listen to the youth in the voice of this "old composer"...
Goose bumps galore! Every.single.time!
The pause at the climax killed me man!
That ending gives me goosebumps EVERY time!
The beauty here is Your ability to keep an open mind across decades, genres, and generations. Good stuff. In the end your building bridges.
This was my introduction to Jinjer. IT'S a playlist Favorite. 😊 Transitions are sick. Love the flow & groove.👍
Yess!! My favorite Jinjer song! I just started the video but I'm super excited for this one!
Jinjer is fantastic! Would love to see you react to "Home Back", their new song!
Is he ready for sub-basement growls and bosa-nova? Should be fun to see that reaction.
Man.....you are the man!! You've opened my mind to production, engineering and just damn right appreciation for the talent in each of your videos!! Thank you so much.....Im still on a backwards trip going through all your reactions, but every vid teaches me new things as an untrained drummer (who has winged it most of my career), and unfolds and lets me learn all the different sounds, timings and pretty much everything else you cover which equips me like an injection of steroid to my learned brain which I've never had the professional feedback to learn from before! Thank you again bro....alllohahhhh
Another amazing reaction! Thank you!
Some suggestions:
Unexpect - The Quantum Symphony
Between the Buried and Me - Extremophile Elite
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Vodoo Mon Amour
Beyond Creation - Omnipresent Perception
Man these videos are really eye-opening for me. The points you make about specific parts of songs are really interesting.
I stumbled upon your channel listening to my favorite music. But the insight and perspective you give on songs and music in general really has gotten me.
Thank you so much for appreciating music on different level.
Jinjer- “outlander” is amazing, it’s older stuff but so awesome.
Thanks a lot for your reaction. Great as always!
El mejor tema de Jinjer, una joya ✨ saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
Aloha Geebz!!! You are the man! Please don't stop doing this. I have, so far, learned A LOT from your experienced and intuitive comments about a lot of my favourite bands/artists... Hat off to you, kind Sir🙌
Please, keep on checking more Jinjer, Gojira, Opeth, Mastodon, Deftones and Tool... Take care. Abraço de Portugal
I love your perspective on these songs. Coming from your background you have an ear for music that not everyone picks up on. Where most just hear screaming or distortion you hear all the intricate time signatures and the actual composition of the music and instrumentation that went into making the song. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
She's a godess!
Gotta be real, sometimes watchin you react reminds me of my first time hearing these songs. I'm getting goose bumps with you. Glad I found your vid's.
I love your stuff, sir. You always have an open mind and find something good in what you listen to. I love Jinjer so much, you hit it on the head that you an hear the "soul" of the performance. Tatiana and the entire band put everything into the music and you can hear it on eveyr track.
Thank you for this. Screamed at you through the monitor a few times but laughed every time.
toujours un plaisir de suivre les reactions tres pointues et interessantes de old man ! Merci....
Awesome song from jinjer! I love to see people reacting to this band, I love to see when people hear for the first time her singing rage, and blows their mind away. Keep it going man, greetings from mexico
The drummer IS THE MACHINE!
Keep it coming with the Jinjer reactions! Especially some of their live performances! Tatiana has such a great stage presence. Home Back would definitely be a good one to examine.
I love listening to your breakdowns of the music. Keep up the good work
You got to try Eluveitie with the song Rebirth.
Just a little tease: an harp, a violin, some flutes and an hurdy-gurdy...
I like you old man. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and sensitivity with us.
I am so glad you started this channel. You have introduced me so to much music that I have not heard before. I gotta check out my Jinjer. The band is fantastic, and the singer is out of this world. I have commented before about how I was (still am) almost good enough to "make it" as a guitar player. I AM PRETTY GOOD, but there are many guitar players at about the level I am at. In my limited experience, a band has a tough time finding a good drummer. GOOD drummers are hard to find. Vocal artists, true singers, who don't rely on autotune (CURSE THEM FOREVER!!!) are rare. This singer is just one in a million.
The video was such an experience. Absolutely Fantastic! LOVE your channel.
I just wanna give big thank you to you and the other reactors who share some of their knowledge with these reactions. I am not well versed musically but have always had an ear for technical music, even though I don't know its technical until someone tells me, so I really appreciate when I can watch your reaction and get a deeper understanding of why I love these songs I love.
"Come and join me in my rotation" i literally heard "And through it all she offers me protection"
("A lot of love and affection")
Love the fresh perspective. 🖖
This is my favorite Jinjer song. Thanks for analyzing it, I enjoy your videos.
I love her!
Tatiana is metals “secret weapon” that isn’t so secret. She may be the most talented vocalist in all of metal(or at least top 3). The band is incredible live too! Seem them in Upstate NY a couple years ago.
She gets better every year actually, so far.
Agreed
Her timbre and control are leagues beyond anyone else.
Top 3 is certainly a stretch though it is hard to narrow down to just 10 or so top vocalists because they all specialize in certain areas and do things each other can't.
@@ProgHead89 indeed.
It's something about the end passage of the song, but the 'feeling' the outro gives me actually makes me tear up when I listen to her sing into the atmosphere of the music. It's almost like the soul is crying as the sound exits her mouth.
It's beautiful and haunting to listen to and I absolutely love it.
Thank you for getting me to listen to Jinjer. They are awesome.
Great analysis.
Wonderful love song.
Epic journey! Musically, lyrically and visually! Man, great work you´re doing in these videos. For a causal listener like me it´s a blast watching you deconstruct and analyse these bangers. Fun, enjoyable and insightful stuff. Keep up the Jinjer videos, I would suggest something live like "Perennial" live at Wacken 2019 because they are so good on stage that is mesmerizing, but for what you do may not be the best way. So try the beautiful "Retrospection". Keep up the good work.
Great analysis!
Great video man keep it up ! I love your content man . I'm a huge tool and apc fan, you have opened my eyes to so much good music thank you and thanks to you follower for their great requests . Rock on fron New Zealand
Also dig into, The mars volta
Perennial is an absolute master piece. Strongly recommend giving that a listen. You've never heard such a brutal and beautiful song about Autumn.
100% yes!!
Live🤘
I really appreciate your expertise in the field. As an amateur musician I understand want you are bringing and that elevates my experience. Thank you very much 🤙
I love seeing reactions to Jinger songs by musicians/composers. They usually point out something that I would never have noticed which brings me a greater appreciation of the song and the band. In this video it was a greater understanding of the audio mix/design, so thanks for that!
I am glad RUclips recommended this video. I hate myself if wasting time on RUclips, so I usually look for reactions where I can learn something from them :D Love the breakdown.
This song is on my Best Of playlist. Awesome.
A perfect song. Just one amazing part after another. What a journey! The band and Tatiana are totally crushing it!
I'm excited about you grabed on to jinger the way I did haha
Yayyyyyyyy more Geebs! Next we gotta do some Meshuggah buddy 🤘
yessss he should do the I - remastered marathonn
He did one song already but I wanna see some of their older stuff. The obvious go to reaction is Bleed but something different like New Millennium Cyanide Christ, Rational Gaze, or Future Breed Machine would be cool.
@@hampstershat123 yes there are so many excellent songs from Meshuggah that need to be analyzed. There's bleed, clockworks, rational gaze, in so many more. Pretty much every song of Meshuggah makes is a complex version of 4-4 with other technical rhythmic patterns around it
You cant go wrong with any song but ideally he picks something different than the mainstays w/e he gets back to them.
Yes! Meshuggah!!!
Glad to see some more Jinjer! You should do Jinjer's "Perennial" next.
Good song pick. Thanks.
16:15 I agree. The way she sings "lightyears" in the last verse gives me chills.
Seeing you post another Jinjer video just makes me want to drop in and recommend Sylosis again and again. I think you'd really enjoy their composition and musicianship. They even have live studio sessions too so maybe you can comment on what makes their set up important, too!
Captain clock live is amazing. Or an older song with Sit Stay Rollover
Yes!
I love the tune of the verse, I've been idly whistling it around the house and at work lately
Wow, that's like a thousand mile musical journey!!!
Alright. Gotta try out Car Bomb. Lights Out would be dope.
pls
I like that you introduce each audience as if its their first (as I hope many are) 🤘🏼
This song reminds me of a late 90s early 2000s band called Taproot. Love Jinjer so much.
OMG I love you geebz but that pause at 13 minutes was absolutely CRIMINAL XD
You have the Best Reacts i am no musician but i still enjoy Your Reacts A LOT.
Wow, not really dug into these properly yet but definitely going to now! That's one solid band (vocals are an instrument 1st 😉). Nice insights into the mix dynamics, thanks man! ✌🏻
definitely a talented group of folks. another multi-talented wonder is Anna Murphy of Cellar Darling...you've never heard a hurdy gurdy like she plays. cheers.
Hey, Geebz... Its crazy because u are wording Tatsiana's vocal abilities sounding like a Goddess as all the Jinjer fans do.... Awesome video!
Thank you for acknowledging how fantastic the rest of the guys in this band are. They are definitely in a league/genre of their own!
Aloha!
Thanks for the great info your sending our way. I especially like the theatre of the mind points you make.
Recommendation:
Jinjer have some shorter songs I think you would enjoy listening to.
(From the King of Everything album, created as a combination of lyrics from each song on the album)
intro song - Prologue
and the last track -Beggars Dance
you should see this song live, it's amazing.
8:04 Seeing you call the transition, but still being amazed 😁😁😁
Im so glad you did this suggestion, i fucking love this song.
if you want another song with really good effects in it, VOLA's "Head mounted sideways" is an amazing song with a lot of effects to it that make it really special on each listen
This is somewhat older and they have a different drummer than now but every member they've had has been so damn good it's crazy! I recommend Jinjer "Judgement and punishment" next! You talked on how different every song has been and diverse, well this song adds a little Reggae Ha! Tatiana also has a "one-take" vocal performance of this song.
Great comments - glad you like Jinjer so much! Try some Oceans of Slumber - doomy-proggy metal with a soul singer! - the older track Winter is a good song to start with, but the new album is great too.
WOW what a TREMENDOUS band !!! Definitely going to listen to their stuff!! I really appreciate your content, and would like you to cover some Human Abstract, particularly "Vela, Together we Await the Storm" in a future video if possible :) Keep it up ^^
Captain Clock from Jinjer is awesome too!
Haha man, when you paused towards the end and said "don't hate me" I was shaking my head so hard
Dunno how much Jinjer is coming up but I think Retrospection would be a good one. Just a badass song, starts with a very cool sounding guitar riff and some Russian singing
There are many reasons why this is my favorite song by Jinjer thus far.
I found this band just over a year ago after being out of the metal scene for years cuz hippie folk music gd lover lol. I've never forgot my metal roots though and they are amazing
