A gold shimmering pedal named "SHOEGAZER 12" that runs on the legandary Alesis MidiVerb I and II algorythms? Well, it's a bit pricey but luckily Maneco Labs sent me one to check it out!
Maneco Labs realized a compact reverb pedal that combines 8 of the best programs of those iconic effect racks. And they decided to run it on 12 bit! Yes, you have heard right! It allows you to create weird and glitchy effects by reducing the bit depth by half via footswitch or expression pedal. What do you think? Does it come close to the original sound of the MidiVerb effect racks?

Oh god I need this so bad, exactly what I've had in my mind for so long
This is what I've been waiting for. Ive always been disappointed that the reimagining of shoegaze reverbs in modern times always ignored the limitations and other nuances of the 80s/90s rackmounts. If you're going to do it with contemporary perfect DSP we might as well make it our self in some modular environment like an axe fx or the beebo or zoia. I don't need someone to put that in a pedal for me.
Granted.... when it comes to retro recreations often times it is just exactly the above with some bitcrushing added in the chain and not the exact non linearities of an older digital audio converter..... but that is a story for another time. A step in the right direction is a step in the right direction.
I totally get your point. When making my own effct pedal, the KatzenJammer filter fuzz, I lernd a lot about the decision process. Often times it's simply the problem, that you are not allowed to recrate a specific scheme exactly. Pedal companies always want to put something extra on top of the improved old version, just to stand out and to keep think exciting. But often I also just wanted something that existed with a tiny flexibility update, nothing more.
This seems like the kind of cool pedal I’d get and then have no idea how to actually use
It's no pedal you abolutely need. It's more something for a sound lover collection and shoegazy nerd who wants something extra. It's made by a shoegaze lover, for shoegaze lovers. But as the company is relatively small compare to the big names, it's clear that the price has to be high, as it's not easy to create something this complex.
I need more hp and lp filters on my signal chain, thank you for clearing that up.
terrific!!! great job!!!
Maneco has this pedal in their modules section of the site. Fantastic video! Sounds just like my midiverb2 but with more features
Thatnk you! That's great, thanks for your comment.
Classic Blooms is the best!
Magnífico pedal tiene una gran calidez y es muy hipnótico
dude theres this pedal called the syntax error 2 that is pretty cool you should check out
Love the thumbnail!
If you like the bitcrushing reverb stuff on this pedal get a Darkstar by Old Blood Noise Endevours it's probably cheaper.
Curious to know how this stacks up against the Maneco's recent Pedal Partners 'Shoegaze' pedal
Ugh, it’s mono. Has to be stereo if you really want to emulate the midiverb!
Midiverbs 1 and 2 are NOT true stereo, they mix L nd R input, process the sum in mono and apply a fake stereo at the end of the reverb chain by passing the same output for left and right through slightly different all pass filters... that can be checked in schematic and algorithm analysis ... :)
@@manecolooper You learned that from those Midiverb 1 videos from Synthesis Technology. Don't pose, brah.
There is something about this pedal based on a stereo rack, that the results is in mono. It sounds fantastic but it's mono and not precisely cheap. I'll wait until appears one in stereo.

Question: Does the soft focus dial still work with no program? I mean soft focus on its own? Or only combined with one of the eight programs?
Midiverb in a pedal is badass but I don't really get the point of the LFO component. It kind of seems like a random feature.
Too bad you can't adjust the parameters on any of the programs. $400 is a lot for this!
The pedal is great. Sadly, the price tag is not so great. I've been going down the death by audio route to get my sound down. I'm going for a more experimental sound, but keeping it still within the shoegaze vibe. I'm going to try and get some examples of what I'm working on uploaded soon.. Looking forward to your album releasing, will you be releasing it on vinyl?
Thanks for your comment. Post links to your work as soon as your ready. We'd love to hear it. I will release it on vinyl a bit later, as it could cause an immense release delay. It's always a bit tricky with the order, pressing and shipping delays. So I will release it on cassette and online first.
On the second watch, I've decided maybe I do want to pick one up.
Did you manage to sell it? Missed it... :(
Is it an impression or is there a slight delay between playing the chord and reproduce the effect?
Only if the effect is played 100% wet. Then you can hear the pre-delay.
Great pedal but for that price I can pickup two used MidiVerb II racks.
Yeah, it's true. It's quite pricey.
I'll use this pedal to generate energy in the aether?
How does this compare to an actual Midiverb II, not in terms of sound, but rather in terms of practicality??
I really need something with bloom to create massive sonic-ally ambient walls of sound with distortion. I can get a Midiverb for ~sub$200, but this seems more practical and I know a midiverb produces a lot of noise. I heard getting a Boss LS-2 helps, but thats another $110 so I would already be at ~$300. What do you think, Kenneth? I don't care about form factor (Pedal vs rack) I just care about what is more practical, less of a headache, and will last me awhile.
I'd use this pedal as it has so much creative potential. It's very fun in a live situation. The rack is great for production, but not very practical. I love using MidiVerb II impulse responses in my productions. No noise at all. Just pure 90s reverb but no physical pedal.

Not sure "pixels" is quite the right word for analog TV
I wasn't sure either at first - but I saw the term is still often used in that context: gist.github.com/jonlabelle/7834592
