- We are back Folks, this time in our beloved Generation 4 games ^^
As I know, especially the Sinnoh based games and the Jotho Remakes hold a very special place in many peoples hearts. We take a look at what makes these games so good (or bad) for shiny hunting nowadays. I hope you like it, and please let me know if you had some succesful hunts in Generation 4.

Anyone else sad they didn’t add the pokeradar to HG/SS? 😭 that would’ve made the johto remakes even more perfect.
You could “tweak” into the void in Diamond and Pearl and hunt the Event mons, arceus being the most difficult. Shaymin can’t be transferred up unfortunately, but a Darkrai caught in diamond over level 50 and it can’t know pursuit can go up. Arceus can too if it knows certain moves.
And can we all agree that gen 4 pokeradar is absolutely broken in that once you have a chain of 20, your odds STAY at 1/200 until you leave the site or break your chain? I once got 11 shiny Eevee and 6 Larvitar exploiting that!! You’re only limited by the amount of repels you bring.
Tbh I am no fan of it either, but it has more to do with the fact that I was always too stupid to get it to work :D
RJRacoon actually, I love pokeradar in gen 4. It is very tricky but once you get it going, it’s very fun. Like a little mini game. (Diary of a Goat-Lass) I’m commenting from my new shiny hatching channel.

The Only Shiny Pokemon I can remember getting in gen 4 (aside from the Gyarados in SS) were Psyduck in the Great Marsh, Shellos just west of the Windworks, Mime Jr. before Solaceon Town and I think that's it, I tried shiny hunting for a Johto starter, but since I was determined to get Chikorita I deliberately ignored the other two so If I got a shiny Cyndaquil or Totodile I never knew. Wouldn't matter anyway as I gave up on the hunt after over 6,000 SRs.
My first shiny was a natural Ponyta in Diamond, I don't like how it looks in XY onward, so I keep it in My Pokemon Ranch.
You shouldn't get it over there anyway. I always keep my shinies in their og games.
You could always hunt it in a later game

I'd only catch shiny pokemon in the safari in gen 4 because of the cute charm glitch.
The only shiny I’ve ever gotten in gen 4 was chimchar. It was pure dumb luck, and I knew immediately that it was shiny.
I got my shiny totodile yesterday after a 9 days of hunt

If you have a copy of a gen 4 game lying around, I'd say go for it. Lots of good targets!

Generation 3 games did have shiny locked. Pokémon colosseum and XD gale of darkness had shiny locks, colosseum only had three for the starters and ho-oh I believe. XD gale of darkness all shadow Pokémon were shiny locked however the wild Pokémon you can get shiny’s. People say these games are only spin offs and not gen 3 games must not be very old either as in there is only one way to complete the Pokédex without cheats and it’s with colosseum, and XD gale of darkness. These two games may not collect badges however did sun and moon collect badges nope. All games have something different about them, the shadow Pokémon have gotta be one of the coolest differences in all games for the fact you STEAL them. Bruh that’s badass
I hunted for shiny cyndaquil in hgss, it took 2367 srs. Worth it though, it was jolly nature

@@yeti644 mans gotta stay patient. I'm 5,200 srs deep into quilava in colosseum and ive been going for it since november 23rd. Learn to enjoy the journey as much as the shiny itself.
I got a full odds geodude just playing the game. Too bad I don't have anybody to trade it to a golem with.

I have another question for you RJRacoon a long time ago I got a action replay and I entered a code for shiny Pokémon to appear in the wild cause I was a kid and didn’t want to wait for a shiny but now as a adult and no longer using cheats for Pokémon to be shiny I’m hunting for them the legit way but ever since then I have yet to encounter a shiny Pokémon did the action replay make it so I can’t get any shiny Pokémon please answer my question by the way this is gen 4 that I did this in
Hey Tyler, no worries, I did that too when gen 4 came out and I can still encounter legit shinies on the same games.
You can still get shinies, they are just extremely rare if you arent going for masuda method or pokeradar.

Methods were never something i really cared for. Got over 5 fulls odds.
Hating on the cute charm glitch, i could smell the elitism
some like it, some dont. I liked it at first but it grew extremely boring and the shinies felt not earned. But feel free to disagree ^^
