  • This video contains methods of making a shiny hunt easier on yourself! These methods have been passed down orally for about a decade or so, but I've never seen them thoroughly covered in a video before, so here you go! Let me know if this information helps any of you, and what you plan to hunt with it!
    Encounter Calculator: github.com/Ang...
    On another note, it has been over two months since my last upload. My computer was broken for about three weeks and then school started back as soon as I got it working again. I've been trying not to be lazy, so expect more content! Dropping every other week as before.
    NEW OUT-OF-BATTLE ABILITIES (as of SWSH)
    -flash fire increase fire types’ appearances
    -lightningrod now also increases electric types
    -storm drain increases water types
    -harvest increases grass types

    Great video LJ! I know when first starting out there wasn't anything like this video before and you just had to find out yourself but this, I think will help a ton of people!
    As for the encounters calculator, I knew because of that thanks to your streams :3, but it defintely needs to be said, as it's soooo useful! I love that thing, it gives me some insight on what I'll be hunting, I like the PP tracker on there as well in case of legendary shinies.
    Also there's one thing I need to correct you on, up to gen 5 a repel will indeed skip over a fainted pokémon and go for the second slot, but in gen 6 onwards that is not the case, as it just uses the fainted pokémon up front for the trick
    Also I'd be in for the island scan thingy! So go ahead I'll certainly be watching it!

      KarateCas1002 thanks so much for that correction! I tend to lack info a little bit when it comes to gen 6&7 sometimes. It’s hard to be 100% accurate on these 😅

    a small thing you didn't go over is how Cute charm affects the odds of finding pokemon of the opposite gender of the Cute charm pokemon.
    This helps alot when you are hunting for pokémon with a specific gender like Combee, Salandit, Ralts and Snorunt.
    Or just want a specific gender on your Shiny if you care about that.

    • @shinycollector
      @shinycollector  6 лет назад +11

      super konijn98 I left it out because then you’d also have to cover information about the cute charm glitch and changing odds of shinies with it, I felt it would really confuse a lot of people. But the encounter calculator does have that included if people want to mess with settings and check it out

    • @superkonijn988
      @superkonijn988 6 лет назад +6

      Fair enough, the Cute Charm glitch is...something else, lets say that much.
      Prehaps you could make it a video? it is an interesting topic in itself and a fun piece of shiny hunting trivia.
      In fact with more and more ways to shiny hunt, prehaps having a video that covers all of those areas in one video could be a good way to group all the different methods together.

    When I first got my black version I did my first full odds hunt being snivy, after I finished the game I started to hunt random encounters style for the first time and did a few mistakes, for example, I thought the abilities Torrent, Blaze, Overgrow, and Swarm all had higher chances of attracting Water, Fire, Grass, and Bug type pokemon, I also thought that cursed body attracted ghost types, I just assumed this for some reason, I was not a bright kid...

    • @HydroPoing
      @HydroPoing 6 лет назад +8

      /!\ Warning probably bad english ahah ... :c
      It's because Gen 5 Swarms are not the same as Gen 4. On Gen 4, Swarms replace the two 20% Encounters Slots to have 40%. In Gen 5, Swarms add 40% to the 12 Encounters Slots. So here you have 40% of Swarms and 60% of the normal encounters slots (20x0.6 - 20x0.6 - 10x0.6 - etc.). Normally it's the same with Gen 3 Swarms, but it's 50-50 and not 40-60.
      That's why you don't have (for the moment?) the Swarm option on gen 3 and 5.

      1991birthday good luck! I know a lot of people have done that hunt, it’s a very cool shiny!

    • @1991birthday
      @1991birthday 6 лет назад

      It is, I tried multiple times over the years trying to get it by Masuda Method but no such luck so I figure, might as well do this method given I've never actually successfully found a full odds random encounter shiny before & figure this will be a good warmup for the big hunts I plan to do so I have a better idea what I will be in for. I recently started an adventure in Black 2, never actually played a gen 5 game before because I was playing gen 4 games during that time & have been enjoying it more than I expected to & wanted to shiny hunt in it so I probably will do magnet pull for a shiny Magnemite or something.
      A huge hunt I plan on doing isn't random encounter but it still is full odds & it's a lot harder than soft resetting, I actually plan to shiny hunt Wishmaker Jirachi, I have the bonus disc, I just need to get the other things I require for it so I'm saving up money to do that & I figure might as well do some easier hunts than that but harder than what I usually do so I can prepare myself for this but I plan to invite over a friend & use both a copy of Ruby & Sapphire, have us both go through & alternate getting the Jirachi so it will be a little faster & more fun but I'm expecting this hunt to go on through the span of a year, possibly longer.

    • @shinycollector
      @shinycollector  6 лет назад

      1991birthday I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this one, but it’s better than not knowing.
      Although that Jirachi can be shiny, it cannot be shiny hunted. This is because the specific RNG that decides it can be problematic. I’m assuming you heard it’s huntable through SCF3’s video, but that is misinformation. Yes it can be shiny, but only through purposeful RNG abuse. Which at that point you’re guaranteeing it is shiny and it is not legitimate nor a “hunt”.

    • @1991birthday
      @1991birthday 6 лет назад

      Yeah, I read up on that & a good portion of it, I didn't understand which is why I'm going to ask a friend of mine who I know gets this sort of stuff if he'd be able to explain it in full to me. If I still don't understand, I figured I'd just take a regular Jirachi but thanks for letting me know, originally I was just going to mess around if I still didn't understand it & hope for the best, now I know I'm not going to go through all that nonsense. Man, I was hoping it would be possible to hunt since I want to shiny hunt a legit mythical Pokemon but it seems that would be impossible unless I stick to hunting Celebi in Crystal, the hunt everyone & their brother is doing & I was excited to do when the virtual console of Crystal came out but seeing everyone else get a shiny Celebi just made me get less motivated which is strange since the more I see people get shinies, the more motivated I get for my hunts. Just today a member of a shiny hunting group I'm apart of got shiny Giratina so it caused me to pick up Ultra Moon & continue soft resetting, I've been doing that for about three weeks now & the more I see people getting it, the more excited I am to get it. When it comes to Celebi, the more I see people get it, the less I want it.

      @shinycollector  6 лет назад

      1991birthday well you do have a couple other options. You could do Manaphy (which is ridiculously hard) or Phione, although that one is iffy. Some people say it’s mythical, some don’t

    Simple: chase a roaming legendary like a madman or train without shinies on your mind. That's how I met my Fearow and Galvantula.
    I repel tricked and was bored a couple years ago. That's right, the first time I used a repel was four years after I started playing pokemon. Haha... I have repels in White 2 that I'm probably never gonna use.

I don't actively shiny hunt (I have no patience for it) but this was explained in such excellent and simplistic terms that it was easy to follow.. .and now makes me want to shiny hunt. Seriously, friend, thank you for making this, this is excellent for beginners.
    (Also you get major kudos for not being condescending and acknowledging that while it's common sense for seasoned Hunters, it's not readily available for newbies. That's incredibly rare in the elitist pokemon world.)

      Quinn Grey well I’m glad I could get this new information to you as well as inspire you to want to hunt! Although, if I may recommend some hunts from another video I made ruclips.net/video/YPqv3BccmzY/видео.html these are very fast hunts for beginners or people with not as strong of patience. And it also happens to be my most viewed video, so it’s probably entertaining too, but who knows lol
      Yeah I sometimes forget that not everything I know is common knowledge too. It wasn’t until Twitch Con back in October that I realized these tricks aren’t known by everyone. I’ve been hunting for about 7 years, so these are just as easily known to me as it is for someone to say grass is green. And then of course I have to pass it on when I can :D

    A little late but there is a thing you missed, you only need 1 repel ( it does not need to be max repel, just any of the repel items work for this).
    Use it as soon as you are in the area you want to get the pokemon for (grass, cave).
    Get your pokemon to the level of the pokemon you want.
    Now use repel and do fast taps so your character/player only switches direction, this way you won't make a step of repel (it will still be 100/100 or 200/200 / or 250/250 if you go from looking up to left for example) but there will still appear pokemon if you just "look around".
    saves alot of money and if you are good at it, the pokemon will appear faster, since it can be done really fast if done properly :).
    don't forget to set everything up just fine and use that repel before saving, so if you mess up, you can still reset and try again.
    Hope this helps or will be shared by you :).

Just a quick check of the site, I can see some spots that could be updated. If you want to contact about it, twitter Direct Messages work very well

    1:56 Not sure if I'm misinterpretting what you said or maybe I'm missing something but static "splitting equally" among electric types doesn't seem to be the case. Using Angeflo's Encounter Calculator, and using chargestone cave B2F in BW as an example, as i hunted there recently for tynamo, two electric types are encounterable; Tynamo (8%) and Joltik (36%). But when adding static to this the percentages don't become ([8/2]+25=)29% and ([36/2]+25=)43% as what you suggested in this video but instead become 9 20.67% and 51.33%. It seems that it static is distributed differently depending on the encounter rate the pokemon previously had.

    • @shinycollector
      @shinycollector  6 лет назад

      Mateesery 44 strange, I’ve tested it before and it worked like that, but that’s why it’s good to have the calculator, corrects where I may be slightly wrong xD

    • @HydroPoing
      @HydroPoing 6 лет назад +2

      /!\ Bad English Warning
      It split not equally with the Pokémon but with all the Encounter Slots :
      20% Joltik
      10% Joltik
      5% Joltik
      4% Tynamo
      4% Tynamo
      1% Joltik
      So you have 6 Electric Encounters Slots, so 50/6 = 8.333333333333etc.
      Then you had that % on every Electric Encounters Slots (after divided them by 2 because Static)
      18.333% Joltik
      13.333% Joltik
      10.833% Joltik
      10.333% Tynamo
      10.333% Tynamo
      8.833% Joltik
      ------------------------
      51.332% Joltik and 20.666% Tynamo, and voilà ! :)

    Hi!
    I used this guide for a magnet pull steelix in cliff cave in johto for a Heartgold Badgequest and i did the math for the route for a repel trick steelix it will show up 51%

    • @shinycollector
      @shinycollector  4 года назад +1

      Well no, steelix is the only Pokémon that appears at that level, so it would be 100%. But it’s a 2% slot so the speed is 2%. And then magnet pull halves and adds that to steelix so the rate, or speed, of encounters 51%. So you’re only seeing steelix, but the speed is 51% of the original encounter speed. It’s slowed because repels cut out Pokémon. You can still use white flute too though to make that speed about 75.5%, pretty solid!

    Do we know exactly how white flute works? Does it only work until you get an encounter? Also I would recommend using a Run Away ability pokemon instead of smoke ball, because there is a slight delay for the smoke ball text which wastes time over long hunting times.

    • @shinycollector
      @shinycollector  6 лет назад +1

      LordSem4j runaway ability is an option, but if you’re already using illuminate it can be a little tricky.

    I am going for Luxio in Pokémon Sun, so can I take an Electric Type (Ex. Pikachu) that is the same level of Luxio, can I almost always get a Luxio?

    • @shinycollector
      @shinycollector  6 лет назад

      ItzYaBoiMysticMaxx It doesn’t need to be the same level, they can be lower or higher, but if it’s lower you’ll have a hard time running. Also, it’s not just any electric type Pokémon, it needs to specifically have the static ability, which Pikachu can have. If Luxio is the only electric type Pokémon on the route, then it will occur over half the time.

    • @ShinyCramorant
      @ShinyCramorant 6 лет назад

      I'm using the Island Scan Method, and lets say the Luxio is Level 20. If I have a Level 20 Static Pokémon, and it's the only Electric type on the route, will that make it easier to get the Luxio?

    • @shinycollector
      @shinycollector  6 лет назад

      ItzYaBoiMysticMaxx just having a level 20 pokemon doesn’t do anything unless you use repels.
      In that case, repels and static in combination would make it make Luxio super common. I recommend giving your Pokémon a smoke ball though to escape easily.
      I believe Luxio would be about 85% at that point
