Sheldon’s recollection of their childhood has always been spotty. He recalls Georgie never being there and always gone while in reality, Georgie picked up a bunch of jobs to take care of the family after their father died. He remember missy as a dumb blonde, but turns out she is way wiser than Sheldon and tougher than Georgie at times.
I’m guessing after his father cheated on their mother, Sheldon didn’t want to remember these moments because they hurt too much and he couldn’t understand why he did it.
George senior is the reason why Sheldon became a theoretical physicists because he always stood by him

Cause we all know sheldon has perfect memory that allows him to remember literally everything that occured in his life but supressed memories could change that or he just probably didnt like his siblings and father so much that he talked so badly of them because well sheldon can exaggerate things

Even at times on Big Bang, aside from the fights and him catching his dad apparently with another woman, Sheldon has always had a rather soft and fond tone when talking about his father.
When his dad took him on the plane to go to CalTech to see Hawking speak. He held his dad's hand because he was somewhat scared of his first plane ride.

I wish Missy was my sis, Sheldon Lee Cooper is such a huge pain in the ass, same with Mary, Mary is a boring preacher anyone saw the episode in Season 2 that said greed, Mary took every music device and electronic from her house, saying "THAT'S IT, I'M TAKING THIS HOUSE BACK FROM THE DEVIL!" Mary and Sheldon are the worst, The Meemaw and Georgie and Missy and the dad are more cool. Sheldon n Missy are so boring

I know he had strong relationship with his mother and meemaw but I feel his father had a sorta closer bond. His mother twas there for him but George seemed to make more impact on Sheldon from being firm and loving

The final is very thoughtful. My dad never let us (my brother and me) hug him, or kiss him, only handshakes. Over the years I have seen many of my friends and colleagues hug and kiss their dad and after loosing mine, I always regret not being able to hug or kiss him. And my dad was the greatest father any one could have. Every bad moment in my life (and there were several of them), he always was at my side, and every good one too. He was very proud of me.

The reason why your dad ( though a great man ) didn't let you kiss or hug him was probably because kissing and hugging is seen as feminine and handshakes are seen as more masculine.
That’s just how he was, most men in my family didn’t show love or affection. I learned to see how they showed it. Miss them a lot

Their relationship was the most precious in my opinion because we rarely saw it. And it is always so impactful when it is.

If that were my daughter, she would be getting a slap across the mouth for being so disrespectful. All because she couldn't watch a TV show. Both she and Sheldon needed way more discipline then maybe Sheldon wouldn't of been an obnoxious know it all and Missy wouldn't of been a runaway. Georgie, despite becoming a teenage dad, was the only one who got his act together and made a life for himself.
Personally I blame Mary because she coddled Sheldon and essentially ignored Missy. Which caused both of their issues.

@@ValiensArch Kids need discipline period. Otherwise we wouldn't be having such a huge uptick in teenagers becoming criminals. There was an incident during the Baltimore riots where a mother slapped her son over and over again because he was participating in the riots. Guess what: nearly everyone approved of her doing that. Saying 'that is a real mom'. Very few people disapproved of her actions.
A few slaps won't hurt the kid as long as it doesn't knock them out or leave a mark. Maybe it'll teach them a lesson about minding their elders and behaving themselves.

Me too, and I'm 72. It is a damn tragedy that by the time we are old enough to appreciate our parents, they are gone. I have often said that I would love to talk with my parents at the same age as I am now.

I watch TBBT so many time again and again, but there was so mich mystery. Thank to YOUNG SHELDON now we always knew how sheldon be sheldon. And the truth is sheldon is love georgie more than anyone, and he respect missy so much.

That was so nice when Sheldon took off his mitten to hold George's hand. Why didn't they have him do more things like that??? Of course then he would have been a nicer, more well rounded person than he was on the TBBT. I think they should stop writing YS as a prequel to TBBT and let it exist on it's own. That way George wouldn't have to die.
Trust me, having George die is a way more impactful story.
Almost like how in Red Dead Redemption they kill their characters, if they didn't die, the story wouldn't be as impactful.
I find it so hard watching this series, having autism. I can relate so hard to when the dad said ‘you can just hold hands’ because I HATE physical touch. I would’ve felt so itchy ans so uncomfortable. My mum has always been sad and angry over it but I can’t help it and she still doesn’t understand. I just wish I had a sheldon as a friend when I was younger. I needed it …….
Sheldon has a good and strong relationship with his mom and meemaw but I think Sheldon and his father have a good bonding 👏. I would say one of the best moment he ever did was to hold his Dad hand that was sweet and what's up George is good Dad and one of the best characters

I was the weird one out of my siblings I was an undiagnosed autistic I despised being touched I looked in the opposite direction when I was having a full conversation with someone and I didn't actually talk until I was almost in kindergarten
My mom was always there for me ready to defend me from anyone who would make fun of or question my quirks
My aunt once grabbed my face and forced me to look her in the eye once and got made when I smacked her hand and burst into tears and my mom was more angry at her then me
She was the only person I had no issue with touching or her touching me
Im better now but i still have a short list of ppl I odnt mind touching me without warning

Throughout the series, George Sr wasn’t the best person but he was a good dad, the scene that traumatized Sheldon was all misunderstanding, the girl that George was cheating on was actually his own mother cosplaying as a German girl, during their time being separated Sheldon didn’t know this but they basically got reconnected due to many love letters
