I would like to apologise again for all of the renovation noises in the background! Oh dear, I was really giving it some with the old hammer and chisel yesterday, but I had no idea that Natasha was doing any filming. 😬 I thank Natasha for her tolerance and apologise to you all for the cacophony I was making. Banging aside, it was an excellent art haul ✨ I love the look of the Art Graf pencils & the A4 sketchbook. I also can’t wait to see more of that leather cased Schmincke set! 😘 xxx
I stared at that leather hordam aquarell set in the box for the whole video, just to have you pick it up at the end and say you're not opening it until another video! 😭😭 Definitely looking forward to seeing it again though and hearing more about it! 😊
Thankyou Natasha for this new art haul I think your amazing for not trying the items out until you showed us on RUclips I get so excited when I order art supplies I have to try them right away I just can’t wait, anyway looking forward to watching the swatching videos coming up. Love to you and stay well. Xx
Ha ha, it's certainly developing my willpower! I really wanted to try them so I had to film this ASAP after I felt well enough! Have a lovely day, Louise. xx
Lovely Natasha, thanks for the mention and you bought a fountain pen too! Look forward to hearing how you get on with that. I finally got around to editing my how to make a concertina sketchzine so that will be up soon on my channel as I know you said were interested in seeing how I make one. xx
Fountain pens or ink dip pens are fabulous with watercolors!!! I used to do the main drawing in pen and ink and then did the coloring with a watercolor wash.
I’m so excited to see the swatching and the video of your new fountain and dip pens! I’ve never found a pen I like so I can’t wait to see how yours are!xx
I'm happy you're trying the White Nights watercolors. These are still my favorites even after trying some other brands. :D The Schminke palette looks interesting, can't wait for the swatching video :D Great haul as always.

They are even more impressive with an Extra Flex Nib from Fountain Pen Revolution in them!! I love seeing people explore the world of fountain pens! You won’t be disappointed! Especially with the DeAtramentis document ink which is archival!
Can’t wait to see what you do with the concertina sketchbook! And fountain pens! Love those, I might be reviewing my kakanö micro fine fountain pen soon.
I loved this art haul! I bought the Schmincke set because of the leather case (and the sale price), but really like that it isn’t the typical color combination. You will be amazed at the Ocean Grey paint. It is beautiful and will work in a variety of subjects. Wet your paper, drop some paint into it, and watch how the pigments separate.💕
The Schmincke set is intriguing! I can't wait to play and experiment with it. :) The sale price was so good - I got it for £60 instead of £79, but even at £79 I think it's a good price for watercolours of this quality, plus the palette and the leather case too! And I'm very excited about the Ocean Grey... 🖤
That is my go to waterproof ink and also my go to dip pen and dip pen nib. Good work!!! Oh! And the document inks can be mixed within the range. to get different colors. It is really fun!
This is so lovely to hear! I did do a lot of research before I bought them. Every time I buy something and share it on RUclips so many people tell me, "You shouldn't have bought this ink, you'd prefer (insert name of ink here)" or "I don't think that pen will be right for you...", so it's great to hear that you use these exact ones and love them! 🖤
I totally recommend the 'zebra g-pen' nibs and the 'zebra g-pen hard' nibs in combination with the Pilot ink for Securities (the one with the yellow stribes in the package) I used this combination for years and it was the first time, working with g-pen nibs felt easy^^ (And i'm sorry for my bad english, i try my best)

I really look forward working in the little concertina sketchbook! I haven't decided what I'm going to use it for yet though. :) I seem to remember that I looked at Bohemian Raspberry's shop a while ago (you're right, it's a great name!) and their inks looked very interesting. I already feel that the past year of experimenting with new materials has meant that my work is evolving, and it's so exciting! I'm also enjoying working more than ever before. I think I'm going to have to slow down a bit on the paint buying though, particularly the watercolours! I have so many now and I want to make sure I'm fully using the ones I have. I may concentrate on expanding my collection of dry media and sketchbooks instead, as I'd like to make sketchbooks a larger part of my channel. I'm also working on something behind the scenes at the moment which I will launch soon, and I'm hoping that at least some of my subscribers on here will enjoy. Exciting times! 💕 Thank you for emailing a copy of your latest zine, that's so kind of you. I'm behind on the mail at the moment (this seems to be a permanent problem these days!) but will get back to you. Have a lovely weekend, Matt!
@@NatashaNewtonArt I'm glad you are enjoying the change that is happening in as your work. I found too that in my recovery I have got a new found love of creating work, traditionally and digitally. I think expanding the sketvhbook componant of your work and your youtube channel is a great idea, I love your sketchbook videos, because it's a chance to see you evolving you work, exploring colours and materials and you inspirations and insights made visual. I made a decision that after spending as much as I did on the 48 pan set of the gorgeous A.Gallo Set and a large order of inks from Bohemian Raspberry Ineed to call it a day on buying anymore new handmade paints etc.And just enjoy all the ones I have (which I am!!) I do want to carry on making my own sketchbooks from scratch as I have for a liitle time now.Maybe the concertina sketchbook could be one of your new sketchbook videos, when you talked about it in this video I could see it being filled with your magical birds maybe.....I wonder if being ill then recovering opens our eyes to our own creativity,to show as it in a new light and give us a new motivation and direction, but I do feel my creative well being is stronger than ever and I hope this is the case for you two. Hope you and Dominic are both okay, have a great weekend both of you. (matt) P.s I look forward to the new launch too, from behind the scenes!
I found my old carbon pencil from when I first started drawing (over a decade ago) and carbon is indeed very black and sooo smooth to sketch with!! Would love to see how you get on with those ✏️
Looking forward to your next videos on swatching. The Ahab may not be as flexible as you'd like. I collect fountain pens and love to use them. The fountain pen revolution company makes a wonderful and very reasonable ultra flexible nib and pen that I really like. Some nibs are interchangeable with pens and some aren't, so you'd have to check and they are great about answering questions. Also there is a additive that can be added with just a few drops to the ink to make it flow nicer if you run into problems. It's called white lightening and is only available from one company and I can't remember which, but should be easy to find. Otherwise to get a super noodle like flexible pen you'd have to buy vintage-antique. The other flexible ones available are pretty expensive, above $150.00. Also check out some Lamy Al star pens, they aren't flexible, but the writing experience with fountain pens is wonderful. I use a 1.1 stub or a broad, I like a very smooth nib and the finer you go the scratchier they can be. The bigger nibs lay down ink better IMHO and I love all the different colors available. The company Goulet Pens, has tons of addictive colors and ink companies to choose from. The iridescent and shading colors are my favorite and you can order just samples to try. It's a rabbit hole all on it's own. Goulet has a youtube channel to learn about pens, inks etc. Most inks aren't permanent, but that also makes them fun to use in art, like watercolor.
Thank you so much for all of the info/tips! Very much appreciated. I actually watched someone drawing with the Ahab and the nib seemed to be just what I'm looking for in terms of flexibility (and I watched a lot of fountain pen videos!). So I'm hopeful that I'll love working with it. At the very least, I have a nice pen to write with!
Hi. The White Lightning additive is made by Vanness Pens. They are located in Arkansas. They also have a huge selection of inks to purchase, including a section of waterproof inks. Also, check out Peyton Street Pens for vintage pens. You can also purchase just nibs. Before you use any nib with the Tachikawa holder, you must prepare the nib to get good results. This includes cleaning the nib and burning off, with a lighter or match, any coating and oils on it. Please take some time to watch some videos about preparing a nib. This should save you from going through the nibs quickly and hopefully any frustration. Have fun and take care!!
The PITT oil pencils are wonderful tools. My favorite teacher in art school introduced me to them but they were out of production for a few years, so I've been saving my last nub for some time. I just recently noticed they were available again and this just reminded me to add them to my cart! I'm curious to hear how you like them.
I'm glad you were able to grab a tube of Schmincke's Ocean Grey! It's SO PRETTY :) Also, if you enjoy Payne's greys, have you tried Maimeri Blu's? It's a really unique pigment and color. I really hope you'll love the colors from the Schmincke palette :3 Looking forward to the swatching video!
Thank you for sharing your art haul and your thoughts about what you chose and why. You have a brilliant mind that automatically chooses the colors that work with each other, it’s a talent. The renovation noise was not a problem for me. When working to create a home, it’s beautiful music! Dominic gave such a sweet apology, it is duly accepted. Of course, he can invite us over to the Castle for a week of art and cooking! 😁 😉Continue to get better and take it easy to get your strength back. In my prayers, thoughts and heart. Fran
I love this haul collection, so many goodies that I cant wait to see swatched out! I am super excited by that Kohle liquid charcoal, I just don't really know what to expect from it - will it smudge? Sounds exciting :) Thanks for sharing, always a pleasure to watch and learn from you 💕
Love that you got a fountain pen. I use the DeAtramentis Document inks as well as the Rohrer and Klingner inks in my fountain pens and they work great. If you really get into it. DeAtramentis has an Urban Grey (warm) Fog Grey (cool) Sepia and Green Grey that they recently came out with. I know artists who will mix a custom color to sketch with. Goulet pens has the full document color line.
@@shetland_pone The DeAtramentis Document line are designed to be mixed. They have a dilution liquid they sell specifically for artist to get the exact color they are mixing. So you can have a lighter color withouth changing the flow.
Hi Natasha, I’ve discovered your youtube channel and love it! I am a fan of Jacksons Art shop, I’ve ordered Arts stuff from them several times and I really love their customer service and also the useful blog contents. Their is my first choice when I need something I can’t shop locally (I am in northeastern Italy). I’m very curious about the w&n watercolour’s pitt brushes, I was about to buy them on my local arts supply shop, but then I didn’t. So can’t wait for for a review on them. Have fun with all those beautiful artists supplies. Love from Italy.
Hello and welcome to my channel! 🖤 The Jackson's shop and blog are so good, aren't they? The blog has such interesting and informative articles. Wishing you a lovely Sunday over there in beautiful Italy!
Fair warning: fountain pens are addictive! I am a leftie who was quite frankly traumatised by obligatory fountain pens in school (and Washable School Blue ink still makes me shudder) but having picked one up again about 5 years ago, I'm now completely hooked. If you want to try out some incredibly good value fountain pen ink in some gorgeous colours, Diamine is a great brand to check out - my current favourite from their standard line-up is Salamander, which is a really swampy green. I have done a few single colour drawings using neat and diluted ink, and the colours I've tried all dilute really well for washes. They're a UK company, too, based in Liverpool.
I can only imagine how difficult it was to write left-handed with a fountain pen! Thank you so much for the recommendations. Do you know whether the inks are lightfast?
@@NatashaNewtonArt I haven't seen any lightfastness ratings for their fountain pen inks, but generally, lightfastness/fade resistance of any brand's fountain pen inks will vary widely depending on the colour (they tend to be dye-based, to reduce damage to the pen). Diamine's Registrar's ink is definitely permanent, waterproof and lightfast, though it's only available in blue-black.
The background sounds of Dominic working in another part of the house made it feel like I was sitting in the room with you while you showed your new supplies. So glad to hear that you are feeling better.
Hi Natasha ~ I’m about to watch the swatching part of this particular haul, but just wanted to ask you which video do you share the dip pen swatching? Xx
I have the De Atramentis Ink and don't find it waterproof enough for my needs. It will still make my yellow watercolor washes dirty. 😭 But it performs better than the Carbon Ink I tried before, and I have a hard time imagining a More waterproof ink. However, I just ordered the new one from Culture Hustle and Stuart Semple claims that their ink is absolutely waterproof, so now, as we say in Swedish, it's "upp till bevis". In other words, we'll just have to see if it lives up to those claims. ☺️ I hope so! I also have the dip pen from Tachikawa! I like it a lot, but not the nibs that came with it. But the thing is that I'm a hard core beginner, haha! 😂 So I guess I might have to experiment and see which ones work for me, but I'll very much be looking forward to a video where you talk about this. And if anyone else has any tips (oh, an unintended pun! ☺️) I would love to hear all about it! On a more sad note I found that my Prussian Green from Schminke didn't hold up as well as I had hoped in my lightfastness test, and while you didn't mention it in this video, the watercolors you ordered reminded me. I hope you get different results! I also love the Sennelier Forest Green. I have barely used it yet, but I certainly will. I just wish their tube paint would settle a bit more and not stay forever soft (more than M. Graham in my experience). Well this turned into quite an essay, didn't it! Anyway, I'm so glad for you that you're feeling better!
You'll have to let us all know about the new ink! 🖤 Is it lightfast as well as being waterproof? The Tachikawa dip pen I purchased didn't come with any nibs, I bought both types separately (one single, and the three in a pack). I'm looking forward to trying them!
@@NatashaNewtonArt I will! And it's supposed to be lightfast, if I remember correctly. I'll have to look that up again and likely do my own test as well. ☺️ I ordered my pen from Amazon and it came with a packet of 10 nibs, and my opinion so far is that you're probably better off choosing your own to try out from the start! 🌻
*fan girls* you're so sweet! Also YAY for anthraquinone blue!! And what on earth are liquid charcoal?? I need to look into that. Omg I hope this isn't a repeat of the last time you showed me something new (acrylic markers) and I ended up spending $100 on supplies 😂 WHY NATASHA WHYYY
Liquid charcoal looks like such an interesting medium! You should be able to find some videos on RUclips about it, but obviously I'll be sharing it in the next video too. :) I apologise in advance if you end up spending more money! 😂
😂 lol do the acrylic markers.. I found your channel after that video. Filling the markers definitely got your fingers full of paint 😂 liquid charcoal sounds like you’ll at least escape with clean fingers this time
Oh! One thing after ruining many of my dip pens, wash the nib and the holder in warm water, and ALWAYS take the nib out of the holder, all my nibs got crusted in the holder. But you might already know this, or maybe you just don’t use ink so heavily 😂
Ahh I have my eye on an A4 Royal Talens, hehe. They look lovely. I wonder how the paper quality compares to the Leuchtturm sketchbooks, if anyone knows? And for what mediums it might be best for?
I haven't used the Leuchtturm sketchbooks, but I'd say that the paper quality of the Royal Talens Art Creation sketchbooks is similar to the Moleskine ones I've used! I use mine for mixed media, including paint sometimes, but it won't take a very wet wash. Hope that helps!
@@NatashaNewtonArt Thanks! I will give one of them a go then. Love moleskine sketchbooks, graphite always looks great on the paper. Hoping for the same with polychromos and luminance with Royal Talens (and at a fraction of the price too! Yay!)
I couldn't get the Archive here (I searched and searched!), so the Document will do for now. It was recommended by someone who uses it professionally in their work and it sounds right for me. :)
I would like to apologise again for all of the renovation noises in the background!

I made a decision that after spending as much as I did on the 48 pan set of the gorgeous A.Gallo Set and a large order of inks from Bohemian Raspberry Ineed to call it a day on buying anymore new handmade paints etc.And just enjoy all the ones I have (which I am!!)
I do want to carry on making my own sketchbooks from scratch as I have for a liitle time now.Maybe the concertina sketchbook could be one of your new sketchbook videos, when you talked about it in this video I could see it being filled with your magical birds maybe.....I wonder if being ill then recovering opens our eyes to our own creativity,to show as it in a new light and give us a new motivation and direction, but I do feel my creative well being is stronger than ever and I hope this is the case for you two. Hope you and Dominic are both okay, have a great weekend both of you. (matt)
P.s I look forward to the new launch too, from behind the scenes!
I actually got some popcorn in to watch this! Loving your videos so much :-D
You will LOVE that Cascade Green!
Ooh popcorn, lovely! 🖤
The art graf water soluble pencils are awesome. I even do pieces in them alone the graphite granulation is just beautiful
I'm so excited to try them! 🖤
I found my old carbon pencil from when I first started drawing (over a decade ago) and carbon is indeed very black and sooo smooth to sketch with!! Would love to see how you get on with those ✏️
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I bought Cascade Green a few months ago…it IS really nice!
The PITT oil pencils are wonderful tools. My favorite teacher in art school introduced me to them but they were out of production for a few years, so I've been saving my last nub for some time. I just recently noticed they were available again and this just reminded me to add them to my cart! I'm curious to hear how you like them.
I'm very keen to try them! I really liked how they layered over watercolour in Melanie Chadwick's video. :) So great that they're available again!
i have the RS shadow violet. love it :D
I can't wait to try it! 🖤
I'm glad you were able to grab a tube of Schmincke's Ocean Grey! It's SO PRETTY :)
Also, if you enjoy Payne's greys, have you tried Maimeri Blu's? It's a really unique pigment and color. I really hope you'll love the colors from the Schmincke palette :3
Looking forward to the swatching video!
I haven't tried that, thanks for the suggestion! I'm intrigued. :)
Fran
Ha ha, thanks Fran! You're so lovely. 🖤
Art creation is great I've used the 160grams as my (bullet) journal
Still waiting on that schmincke aquarell video!!! 😍 I’ve checked back at least twice a month looking for that video haha patience is a virtue!
Hi Kay! I uploaded it a few months ago - here's the link! :) ruclips.net/video/mto3Wxo6rzg/видео.html
I love this haul collection, so many goodies that I cant wait to see swatched out! I am super excited by that Kohle liquid charcoal, I just don't really know what to expect from it - will it smudge? Sounds exciting :) Thanks for sharing, always a pleasure to watch and learn from you 💕
I'm really keen to try it! I'm hoping to film the swatching today, so it should be uploaded within the next couple of days. :) Thanks Jannah! 🖤
Those colours sound gorgeous! Thanks for the recommendations. 🖤
Be careful about mixing inks for use in fountain pens. Some react badly together and can clog up your feed.
@@shetland_pone The DeAtramentis Document line are designed to be mixed. They have a dilution liquid they sell specifically for artist to get the exact color they are mixing. So you can have a lighter color withouth changing the flow.
@@hannahskoonberg that's excellent! I think Platinum also do a line of mixable inks.
Your voice is just fine.
Appreciate the video
Thank you so much!
What a nice haul! I was waiting patiently for the Schminke special edition and you decided not to open it. :(
Thanks Maria! It's going to get a video of its own very soon, where I'll open it, swatch it, and create some artwork with it. :)
The background sounds of Dominic working in another part of the house made it feel like I was sitting in the room with you while you showed your new supplies. So glad to hear that you are feeling better.
Thanks Molly, I'm glad it wasn't too annoying!
Hi Natasha ~ I’m about to watch the swatching part of this particular haul, but just wanted to ask you which video do you share the dip pen swatching? Xx
I use the same ink it’s great. Make sure you flush it out when not in use as it clogs if you let it dry out.
Thanks for the tip! :)
Great to hear your lovely voice 💚 so glad you're feeling better. Love your haul videos but it always ends up giving me too much to lust over 😂
Ha ha, I feel this way when other artists film hauls!
Filling the markers definitely got your fingers full of paint 😂 liquid charcoal sounds like you’ll at least escape with clean fingers this time
Same :D
Sarah burns studio was actually the one who prompted me to get the anthraquinone blue color for my pallet as well haha. It must be witchcraft
I have never heard of the Pitt oil based pencils. Are they more like colored pencils, charcoal or pastel? Would love to see you test them out 😄
They are an oil pencil, a bit like polychromos but more creamy kinda thing. The Sanguine is excellent for sketching.
I can't wait to try them!
@@Kyomiibrown oh interesting!
@@NatashaNewtonArt If you like sketching and mark making, order the Sanguine at some point. It’s just an awesome sketching tool.
@@NaomiCoutureArt It’s the best way I could describe them though it’s not exact. They are a unique pencil.
I also love the woody 3 in 1. I have a video on them. 🥰
I'll check it out! 🖤
I like the look of the Schminke special edition. Pity about the leather though.
Oh! One thing after ruining many of my dip pens, wash the nib and the holder in warm water, and ALWAYS take the nib out of the holder, all my nibs got crusted in the holder. But you might already know this, or maybe you just don’t use ink so heavily 😂
Thank you so much for the tip! 🖤
"pitt oil based" pencils... What kind of witchcraft is that? 😶 I would love to see you working with them... 😊
Coming soon! 😊
it will be nice to know your opinion about the White Nights 😌
I'm looking forward to trying it!
Have you seen the new Darkness & Light Sumi-e watercolour set at Choosing Keeping? I tried to resist, but it kept calling to me and I gave in.
It does look lovely. 🖤 I hope you enjoy it - I'd love to see it swatched!
Yay!)
Can you make a video abouth The fountain pen?
I will do sometime soon. :)
I assume this link no longer gives the 10% off 😅
I can't remember what the link was for, but if it's your first order at Jackson's, it still gives you 10% off! Anything else, probably not! ;)
Nah, the De Atramentis Archive is the one you want, not Document. 🤗
I couldn't get the Archive here (I searched and searched!), so the Document will do for now. It was recommended by someone who uses it professionally in their work and it sounds right for me. :)
Please swatch next time lol
The swatching part is here! ruclips.net/video/RvrwkP2XrLk/видео.html Enjoy. :)
Missed you Natasha..!!
Ah, I missed being here! 🖤
After my throat surgery, I sound like a man.
I'm sorry to hear about your surgery and hope you recover soon.
