As a musician, I can very comfortably say this isn't a cover band. This is a tribute band. In my experience, tribute bands usually try to sound like one original band as much as possible, and many spend years trying to do it. The difference with these folks is that they can do it with ANY band.
Completely agree with your assessment. A cover artist performs a song injecting their own flair or making their own arrangement; a tribute artist studies the technical details and attempts to reproduce the original as closely as possible. Thus LLB is indeed more a tribute band. The amazing thing is that they can pay tribute to so many different artists. 😎
Kudos to Brad for that solo. Not many would even attempt to cover Kath, but when he stepped on the wah-wah, there was no doubting his ability. And of course the horns were on top of their game for this one. This is the old-school CTS that I remember from my high school years.
Thanks for the great complement for Brad's guitar work, many thanks and please help us spread the word by sharing our videos on the social media platforms you use. Thanks again!!
I was a 6-7 year old kid living in the south side of Chicago when they were hitting the scene around Chicago, before they made it! So yeah man, I loved them fellas from the word go!
I have been playing music for some 40 plus years myself,,, not many bands can duplicate this song,,, it is so perfect, from the vocals to that killer lead guitar work and that great horn section!!! Love what you are doing!!! Keep rocking!!!
It seems I'm a little late to the channel, but so far I'm completely entranced. This is like watching the best magic act in the world. "How in hell are they doing this??" And to tackle this Chicago piece? I think I've watched this close to 10 times, and Brad Wilson's courage to take on Kath's guitar work? And to NAIL IT!? I've been playing guitar for about 40 years, and I'm stunned. This is simply incredible folks. Incredible.
Not many bands bring tears to my eyes these days but you all just did. Another fantastic performance by the best cover band of all time. Seriously. More Chicago please!
Hahahahaha, yeah! Although the city of Lexington may sue them or something if they went by that name! Just like the city of Chicago did those boys for using Chicago transit authority on the first album!
Terry Kath was one of the most underrated/unappreciated guitarist over the last 50 years. Unbelievable talent. Your guitarist nailed the solo parts perfectly. Horn section nailed their parts also. Love your covers ever since I found your channel.
Glad you found us, and thanks for watching the videos. You can help us out by sharing some of our videos with your friends on social media, we would greatly appreciate it!
Chicago, Leonid and Friends, and now I find these guys! I love the end of Kath's solo when the brass kicks in, a totally WOW moment in music wonderment.
One of the most technical and difficult Lead guitar songs I know of and executed fantastically!!! Kudos for all. One of the great and signature Chicago songs to perform. Keep them coming. You LLB guys (any combination thereof) area great vocalists and musicians! Top shelf!!!
Bit of trivia for you...Chicago once toured with Jimi Hendrix & Hendrix said that Terry Kath was better then him...high praise....this guy does it very well.
Just another point: Chicago recorded and performed the original with one guitar! Terry Kath is a forgotten Grand Master. Check out “Free from Guitar” “Introduction” or about anything else. He stands with the very best.
Wow! Great job on the vocals Mike and huge kudos to Brad for paying tribute to the late great Terry Kath in such a skillful way. The solo was spot on. Timing of this release is much appreciated as well. We all needed some uplifting music today! Can't wait for the next one.
Very, very credible job, folks. I've never heard anyone nail Kath's lead from that song, including all of Chicago's replacement guitarists, but that was SOOOOOO close! Check out the Leonid and Friends cover for another incredible cover. Kudos.
This comment might come off as passive aggressive to people who don’t know the song, but sooo close is the closest we have right now to kath’s solo in a cover by any band ever.
hopefully you guys recorded this at 25 or 6 to 4? Lead guitarist note-for-note whilst nailing all the subtleties and fills. ridiculously tasty. wow. Lead singer: perfectly suited for this tune. wow.
The wife was looking at me weird. I seen another video just pop-up on my feed and I let out a scream of excitement. She thought I had stubbed my toe on the dresser again. I love this episode! The song was great! The horns, and vocals are spot on! Thank you again for the magic carpet ride back to the 70’s. Tony Indiana
Brings me back to Westbury Music Fair on Long Island, seeing Chicago Transit Authority play at my first concert ever. Terry Kath played this solo not 10 feet from me. I don't think I have ever heard anyone come close to Terry's recorded solo, not even Chicago's own guitarists since the loss of Kath, until now. Outstanding in every way. Kudos to all the players and singers here.
It is amazing to think Terry Kath was able to handle the guitar parts all by himself. I saw Chicago in 71 and he was a great guitar player. A big loss. Great cover!!
This was by far the best rendition of Terry Kath’s studio recorded version I’ve ever heard. Other versions I’ve heard get lost with the wah-wah part. Can’t change history but I often wonder what would Terry Kath have accomplished had he lived until today. It’s said that he was ready to move on from Chicago around the time of his death… wanted to form a more guitar-centric band. There are a number of RUclips videos showing Kath live and what always amazed me was how great he was while almost never looking down at his hand or fingers. Thanks! 👍👍👍
Prime your right....Kath was incredible !...I will be 77 and played coronet, trumpet and baritone since age 9...loved Chicago and BST.. Kath played without looking at the fret board, as did all of the greats...I once heard Alvin Lee of "tens years after", say he would go into a room to practice for eight hours at a time...listen to a record and practice the notes until he did not have to look at the fretboard .He said he would " chop wood" until every thought of a note in his head could be translated to the fret board without having to think of his fingering.
@@dbrinkm1 Thanks for the comment. I myself will be 70 in January and was a percussionist beginning in 5th grade. My junior and senior high schools had an excellent instrumental music program that regularly won statewide recognition and I was also in a symphony orchestra in my senior year. I went on to play drums in local bands for a few years. Because of my love of brass, I latched onto Chicago and BST immediately upon their “arrival” on AM radio. I always preferred Chicago because of Kath’s genius rock guitar riffs as well as his bluesy voice. His tragic accident left a hole in Chicago that no guitarist has been able to completely fill. Cheers!
Top 10 guitar solo of all time and Brad Wilson was spot on. I've been to Day of Rock & Roll in New Orleans 1980 (Eagles/Billy Squire/Christopher Cross/Foreigner Cheap Trick... Oregon Jam 1981 Blue Oyster Cult, Pat Travers, Loverboy, & Heart... I could listen to LLB for most of these bands at ONE concert. Outstanding!

Chicago done a lot of great songs but this one is my all time favorite of all songs… Thanks for not mangling it!!!.. The vocals were spot on as well as everything else! Simply amazing!
I remember hearing this song on my mom's car radio when I was a little kid. I loved this song since before I went to kindergarten. I love this version and keep coming back to hear it over and over.
I saw Chicago live in the 70's before Terry left our world. I can close my eyes and I'm back at that concert with Terry and that raging lead guitar, James, Lee, and Walter with one set of lungs, Peter with his flawless bass and superb vocals, Danny with his perfect beat, and Robert hanging on for dear life. Nailed it! As others have said, very challenging lead guitar part, rendered perfectly. Vocalist channeled Cetera at his best. Horns and rhythm section were so very tight. Can't say enough about how talented LLB is.
Glad you used a Tele for the lead guitar. Another Chicago tribute bad used a Gibson Les Paul, great guitarist but not the same bite and growl. Great Job!

The lead guitarist was definitely channeling Terry Kath, spot on. The whole band has the Chicago sound nailed.

With all due respect, Terry played both rhythm and lead, while singing.
