Honestly - these have to be the best bit of tech I've bought in years! I was an audio engineer for 20 years and I really rate the sound and usability! Thanks for bringing my attention to the updates - super cool. Thanks man!
The REC lock and auto record were added last year. The new features added last month were LED off and the option to have receiver auto power off if it’s disconnected from the transmitter for more than 30 min.
@@thomasayau9911 I have done that aswell, but then I almost lost one when shooting in the woods when it was dark. With this the lights could be off, and you can turn them on remotely in order to find the transmitter again. (when it drops somewhere) So I guess thats a pro compared to the shittyrig version of this.
The best update is that internal recording is not crashed now. Previously my internal recordings got little skips in random moments, even a few times per hour. Now it records reliably, from my short testing.
DJI mic cost me £300 but oh boy, it was worth every penny. Worked straight out of the box with my 6K pro. Default Audio was a little but boosted just fine. Charging case is fantastic 👌
Thanks a lot mate, just updated following your steps. A cool thing to add is that both the transmitters and receiver will automatically delete the bin files after the update is complete. Keep up with great contents :)
I purchased the newer single transmitter combo and it doesn't come with the charging case but it does come with a very handy carrying bag that fits the transmitter, receiver and all accessories inside quite nicely. Outside the the charging aspect of the original case the bag that comes with the new one is better and far more convenient for my use case. The battery in these lasts forever so they really don't need to be constantly charging. Just plug it up at the end of the day and your good. If you don't need a second transmitter that totally the way to go imo.
Dude! Literally like 3 weeks ago I got tired of the lights and cut small pieces of duct tape to cover the lol. Guess I can take the tape off now… amazing simple mic system. Love it.
I did that with my Rode Wireless GO II. Because of the sharp corners of the Rode xmtrs, the tape conforms somewhat. But with the crowded round corners of the DJI, it’s really problematic. 😊
Great Video. One update that has also been applied in this firmware update (or it could be possibly another more recent update) is that DJI addressed the issue of the internal Mic recording not syncing with other recording sources because it would “pause” recording when the mic could not hear a loud enough sound to keep the recording going. The main issue this caused is when you tried syncing the internal recording with your other sources the DJI file would drift out of sync and would cause synchronization issues with other recording devices. The newest firmware update makes sure that the recording keeps going and now I have not had the recordings drift out of sync at all. Great system!
I had correspondence with DJI support on this for weeks and they for sure gas lit me on the problem. So relieved to hear other people having this problem and that I can now rely on it to not drift. Phewwwwwww
I love the DJI Mic Kit! Works great to block wind noise!!! It captures great audio from my hams radio too when connected direct to it! I just wish I got notices of when the firmware updates come out. This video just informed me!
Highly HIGHLY appreciate thanks for being so informative about everything details were super great examples were on point and you didn't waste any time getting all the information out to us Thank you 😊
Thanks Aldryn, it just gets better. When I run in room conferences I use these bad boys to feed crisp audio to those joining virtually. Work brilliantly especially for roving speakers on stages. Agree with the tip to place mic inside shirt and magnet outside - also prevents embarrassment of lost magnets inside folks clothing when stage managing. Any recommendation for an accessory to utilise these as handheld roving mic (like the rode mic has?). Top channel. Thanks.
This past 4th of July I shot some epic footage of a Fireworks show with my Air 2S.. I quickly realized how lack luster it was without sound. It would be awesome if: 1. Sound capture could be done with DJI drones. 2. This Mic could have really long range. 3. An even smaller & lighter Mic could be made for drones & attached for audio recording. I realize the Prop noise may be a major problem but I think it would be cool anyway.
Thanks for the info as always - due to upgrade my RUclips setup soon for DJi Action 3 from my DJI Action 1 so I will be adding this mic as well for clearer audio. Your the reason my left using GoPro stuff and went Dji
@@david-white If you have a 3D printer, there are some working STLs on Thingiverse (which seem to be identical to the Etsy stuff). It is just crazy that DJI doesn't do this themselves.
Let me get this straight, cause I’ve been using RODE for years and I really like DJI products (I have drones, etc…) In order to record the sound, do I need to press a little button? What if I forget about it? With RODE I just connect and I know the audio will be recorded. Am I understanding correctly? Cheers!
When connected to the camera it will record through the camera. Pressing the red record on the transmitter gives you a secondary backup recording. Or you can just it as a stand alone recorder. I always have it record a backup because you never know if you get a cut out.
I was ready to by the single mic and receiver but when I saw it didn't come with the case I took a pass. Wish they sold the case separate. Thanks for the info.
You forgot to mention, when you plug in the mic to do the update, you need to plug in BOTH . if you only do one of them , then you will have only updated one of the mics and not both of them ! thanks for the vid !
Great info! I was wondering if there is a way to drop markers on the audio track while recording with these. This is something the Rode wireless go has and is useful for me, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.
Id want to see an update where you can plug in an external mic into the receiver, that way you can record environmental sound in front of the camera as well as sound from the transmitters.
Does DJI already updated regading the mode on iPhone? From one of the review I watched there is a problem with the mode if using iphone being only on mono mode. Can the DJI now record also on stereo mode when using in iphone? Other than that, this mic is good.
Still have a really big UXflaw: the gain for each transmitter is hidden in three layers of menus. But formatting the internal memory is only a swipe away. That's a big problem because you often need to adjust the gain for each mic before each interviewee, sometimes even during the session. But formatting the internal only needs to be done once a day, if that. It's very illogical and dangerous.
SHOWW... congratulations... for the video... to be discreet in an interview, which lavalier microphone would you recommend, to plug in and not lose any quality. because I need to be VERY discreet in the interview.
Yeah lights off make no sense my receiver is on my camera 👀 I'll have to stop and look to see if it's still recordind 🤦🏾♂️I beg to differ these updates.
Whats important, this update fixes problem when recorded audio on transmiter does not syc up with other audio (audio drift). Not all DJI mics had this error, but some did.
Hey Aldryn, I’m considering these mics but I only have an iPad and phone. Do you know if you can do firmware updates from an iPad’s file system? It would be great if you could update the firmware from the app.
The only update they should add is to get rid of that ridiculosly bad interference when you attach a lav mike, which is the case 80-90% that you’d use a clip on mic during an interview and/or kinda professional work for example
I have, but the transmitter itself is also a lav so in large, not really needed in many situations. If I am doing pro work I'll use my Senheiser LAV, its smaller, easier to position and has pro features like the locking insert and an XLR receiver to go into a higher quality recorder. You can plug a $300 LAV into this and it more or less sounds the same (and you have to now worry about gain, as many LAV are picky about pre-amp power) so unless being hidden or in a specific position is a requirement, the unit by itself gets the job done well. The way I use this is just by itself, as a stand alone LAV, no worries about interference, camera settings, etc. Toss an Omni or Shotgun Mic on the camera to get ambient sound, and then mix and sync everything in post. Honestly I normally record everything to a Zoom F6 or a Tascam recorder and never actually use camera audio at all except for sync purposes.
Does this mic setup work well with the Osmo 6? I assume the Osmo balances the phone/mic setup once everything is attached? Thanks for all the videos, by the way! Great resource!!
Yeah it should. I have the OM5 and the mic but haven’t tried it but, that receiver is very light. If anything what you should consider is the size of the receiver. You would have to place the magnet a bit lower on the phone so the receiver can fit
Great vid by the way I have been using them since they came out and love them. I wonder if you could help me with something.... I am going to be running a game show on my channel where I have a host and two teams of 2 people, so 5 people in total on stage. I was planning on use the dji mic on each person so there'd be 5 recordings. I am currently using tshure mvl lav mics with the dji mics I have. Of course I'm going to play around with different settings but based on that info what would you say would be the best settings in regards to mono/stereo or do you think it would be better to just hit record on all transmitters and have them all set to mono? I have a feeling I'm going to run into a lot of problems so any advice from you or anyone reading this would be very helpful. Thanks again for the vid 😎
Have you ever had an issue where you could not record internally? Mine was working fine but as of last week, won’t record to the transmitter anymore and I don’t what’s going on.
Hello from Norway ! I'm thinking of buying this mic set, but have one question about audio files which I'm not sure about ... when shooting video with my Osmo Action 3 with this mic system connected ... will audio be in the videofile , or does it need to be added as own audiofiles in my videoeditor ?
Is the audio quality still terrible when you plug an external lav mic into the minijack port? I ways use external Lavs and the high noise floor of the DJI makes it a non starter.

DJI mic + Adobe podcast enhancement has been a game changer for me
Elaborate please, in interested in this.
Now if only they would listen and give us a cold shoe mount that actually holds the receiver in place. It is ludicrous that it only fits in hot shoes.
This is the reason I’m planning to sell mine cos it’s basically unusable for me
And one that doesn't feel like it would break at the slightest touch. The cold shoe is too small even for DJI's own Ronin 4D
Someone on Etsy has built a cold shoe mod and sells them for only $12. Works perfect.
