Great post guys! In the case of your suggestion of recording four audio sources to a DSLR, perhaps it's worth mentioning the backup recording redundancy of the transmitters, letting you re-mix the four tracks in post if necessary
Good to see you here Ben! Indeed, you could have a go at recording all 4 into the camera but if it doesn't work for whatever reason you still have the option of editing the 4 tracks independently. Cheers!
Nice job! I love the McGyver approach to the different setups. One thing you forgot to mention is that the DJI recorder records in 32 bit resolution which means there is incredible headroom and ability to increase volume if you record a low signal. Thanks for the tips!!!
Thank you for this video! Before I heard about the new DJI mics, I ordered the Rode GO Wireless. Unfortunately, the receiver wasn't working so I just sent it back. This video answered all the question I had in my head when I first heard about the DJI mics. We all know Rode has a long standing authority in audio but I actually like these better. I love the mini tripod + ball joint option as I sometimes find myself in a position where I'd like a traditional style mic but dont want the hassle of trying to hook one up. And I'm able to get all 3 for what I paid for the Rode Go Wireless. I'm buying all the stuff from your links so you get the credit! You just gained a new subscribers. Thanks again!!
I like your videos. Pacing is good, accent is well utilized. Good to watch. More on 360 x3 and DJI Mic setup would be of interest for me. Thanks for making.
Thank you Stewart for this excellent post. I’ve just bought the Mic, but not used it yet! However, what great usage tips you’ve suggested. It’s pretty inspirational and now, you’ve given me the idea to keep the DJI Mic on me at all times so given the opportunity I can interview people should something interesting happen when I’m out and about, thanks.
I used it to record my band playing live worship. Placed mic near speakers while gopro camera was in a different location. Pretty cool. Nice and clear sound.
Yes, Yes, Yes and definitely YES! Oh, sorry. I was just reacting to your Intro. Stellar video guys, definitely going to try all of these once I get mine :) I'm the guy that has been asking for the SPL value of the DJI mic, if you remember. Well I'm just going to write it here for all others interested: It's 114 SPL. Just as a reference, here's the competition: - Original Rode Wireless Go = 100 SPL - Rode Wireless Go II = 100 SPL (but they added a PAD option that's like lowering your highlights in post - because they couldn't physically change the properties since it's the same capsule) - DJI mic = 114 SPL - Other wireless systems that I researched = between 110-120 SPL This, coupled with what you guys showcased that you can INDIVIDUALLY change the gain on each Transmitter is actually the reason that I'm going for the DJI instead of the Rode as my upgrade. And I feel like not a lot of RUclipsrs point this out. To me, this is the major difference between these 2 competitors: SPL and individual gain. I don't know why it's not that often mentioned. As a background: I already shoot with a splitter (mentioned below) and an original Rode Go, giving me 2 tracks of audio on the same video (already synced). Sometimes even a recorder that I sync in post. Now I'm looking to up my game by doing something similar to what you've showcased, with a DJI mic (that mixes 2 channels) + a Shotgun mic (the Azden SMX) for any ambience. Technically still 2 tracks in post, but one of those tracks is the DJI mic which is a mix of 2. If I do my setup right (the gain on each one) and if everything goes according to plan, audio should be good right out of the box, however, if something happens (annoying cough, scratches the chest near the lav etc.) then fear not, that's when those 2 tracks become 3, because we have backup audio (very easy to sync because it's basically the same audio as the mixed one). So what you said at 6:20 in the video (curtesy of Caleb), could be expanded by a simple drag and drop of the 4 audio backup files to replace your 2 audio tracks once you have easily synchronized them (because they will look pretty much the same when a person is talking). Here's my splitter that I really recommend: The SmallRig Audio Splitter (search on Google) that's great because it's solid metal and also gives you 2 cold shoes - you should really look into it instead of the cable from your video + the cold shoe bracket. It's a 2-in-1 system. And the SPL was very important for me as, like I mentioned, priests that sing/yell while reciting from their book, usually look down at their book (so therefore down towards the LAV), and the book even acts as a shield/funnel that amplifies the AAAAA, EEEEE, OOOOO sounds that they clip. With my Rode Go 1, I find that 50% of Priests actually clip and that's frustrating. That's the SPL, that's physics, there's only so much pressure that the capsule can handle and transform into a digital signal without distortions. But with 14 more SPL above that 100 I think that this will be solved and they could scream to their heart's content. If you don't believe me, try clipping a Wireless Go to your shirt, hold a rather large opened book on your sternum (creating a funnel) look at it and shout HAAAALELUUUJAAA!. :)) Thank you for the video once again, hoping the EU get's it's deliveries for the DJI mic soon. Should be about a week if I'm not mistaken.
Wow, okay I’m sold, I’m going to get that DJI MIC kit, just too versatile not to have it. Thanks again Alina and Stewart! I think that I’m going to have to take out a loan if I keep watching you too! 😂
fascinating stuff, most of it came so fast and was technically way over my head but I'm on the cusp of purchasing this mic and using with my dpi action 2. I just need to know, does the receiver connect to the dji action 2 wirelessly and if not would a usb c extension cable work to connect the units so I can mount the receiver on the camera cage. thanks for any help. great video
Stewart is there any workaround for being able to monitor djimic audio while the djimic receiver is plugged into iphone 13 pro say while on zoom call? facetime? recording video? I would love to be able to hear my audio as well other person while on a call or in a meeting. It appears the iphone speaker gets disabled when the receiver is plugged in via dji lightning adapter. thx for your help Mark
Amazing channel. I have a question regarding DJI mic 🎤. Is it possible to have 2 sets of the dji mic kit without interference? I have 3 camera setup and I’m thinking of getting one ☝️ more set. So 2 receivers and 4 mics? It would be nice to get rid of xlr cables and mixerboard.
Is it possible to pair 1 transmitter to 2 receivers so you can have a receiver plugged into a livestream and the other plugged into a soundboard but be picking up the 1 microphone source?
I have finally found this useful Video again. I purchased these Mics a long time ago, so having progressed in other areas and other mics, I have a question. I have setup the Mics to record in stereo, one on each channel so that I can separate them in post. What I then wanted to do was have a Boom Mic, which I have on my Camera all the time, also record the audio to the Video Clip. Is it safe to say I could take the internal recordings from the two DJI Mics, import them into Davinci alongside the Video clip which will have the Boom mic recording associated, and then sync by waveform all of the clips then mix them all together? I love these Mics, but when myself and my wife have them on, we miss the audio from our daughter running around, and she is usually directly in front of the Camera. Before you ask, yes I would put one of the Mics on her, but she is 3 and will rip it off instantly. My Nirvana would be a Boom Mic for the overall audio of the situation we are in, but really great commentary and audio from my wife and I all mixed together. Does this sound feasible or am I missing something? OR should I use the splitter cable you suggested, plug the boom mic into the left channel, the DJI receiver into the right channel but to me that would all be on the Video clip mashed up together and I won't be able to adjust levels of the individual mics .. thanks for any comments/feedback and this is giving me a headache!! :)
Awesome, I am looking at buying these for my channel. It would be a game changer and hoping it makes my setup a little lesser profile. I currently have a rode micro. It has to be turned around if I am vlogging versus showing the landscape. This will make it more streamlined for me. I have the x3 and the dji osmo action. Great video!
the sound quality of this video sounds way much better, than in your other video "deep dive". please, what did you do differently (in order to reach that qualily/clarity level)? thank you
If I record a band on the stage, what mic do you recommend me to plug into the transmitter of DJI Mic? I would record guitar or piano with one mic and the other one would be for voice with an external mic.
First of all, sorry my english! ehehehe I´m using 4 transmitters of DJI MIC for theater. The two receiver go to the sound system for the audience and also we are recording direct on the transmitters. The recording is perfect. But we have a problem sometimes, that the signal of the transmitters of the "receiver A" maybe is getting in the "receiver B", So, in the sound system we can hear some audio drops or the audio pops..There is no problem on the intern recording, but in the sound system we have these issues. Yestarday on tonight show, we put the receivers away from each other. One on the left of the stage and one on the righ of the stage. And kind works better. If only the DJI MICS could change the frequency of the transmitters... You know something like that?
Ok, I feel so remedial here compared to the rest of the questions... but if I use the transmitter as a standalone podcast-type mic... how to I transfer the file to my computer? I've connected it (usb-c to usb-c) but can't get my MacBook Pro to see the connected device (or I just don't know where to look). Sorry for the basic question... but would sure appreciate some help!
Interested in that mini tripod but all I see is the remote tripod yours does not seem to have the remote function. Is there a standard tripod that I am just not finding
Ok I asked this question around a lot, and I desperately want an answer. Can you attach the DJI Mic to any metallic object like the DJI Action 2 did? Cars, to be specific
My uncle primarily uses his cell phone for business and asked me how he can get a professional voicemail file uploaded to his iPhone’s voicemail. I googled this and it seems no one had found any way to do this. All forums said it was not possible, as iPhone doesn’t allow file uploads to voicemail. My uncle assumed I’d have to play the voicemail greeting from the computer while he holds his phone to the speaker, of course making something that’s supposed be professional, sound not so professional. Then it hit me… I had just received the DJI mic. I put the transmitter into the bottom of his iPhone and connected one of the DJI mics to my iMac via headphone jack. I hit play on the voice file at the same time he hit record on the new voicemail and BOOM! Professional sounding voicemail greeting directly into my uncle’s iPhone! There are so many cool ways to use this mic.
Great video! Just wondering if you know when these are likely to hit the shops? I’m ready to pull the trigger on these but they all say pre-order still.
it sound good. you make some equalization on post with the recorded? Can you plug "Shure SM58"? for karaoke or interview or even podcast. i know SM7B not because need amplifier with phantom power and DJI mic cant provide that in that format.
Amazing vid! Can you start the recording on both transmitters at the same time using a single button on the receiver? And do you think it will work if I put both mics on my two shoulders facing forward as I interact with strangers? Would it be a good configuration to capture my voice, as well as the voice of the strangers, at a similar volume? (Without plugging the receiver anywhere, and in which case, where does it store the data, on the transmitters or the receiver?)
SOLD!! Thank you for the awesome video. Going to order the double pack for my videos. It’s such a pain to edit the audio in post when when you film like 6-8 feet away from the mic.
Could you confirm if a DEITY D3 PRO mic is working plugged in into the transmitter of DJI MIC? I own the DJI MIC and have just ordered the Deity D3 pro for black friday...Hopefulyy that will not generate interference...
Your clip is fantastic creative use of Dji wireless mic. How to increase the gain control on the Adobe Audition? I recorded on the audition but the audio gain is really low. Thank you.
I don't understand this channel business left channel right channel Is that the two transmitters ie one is left one is right ? I just got this. Also wtf is mono or stereo as both lines (what are they called? Are they the channels or they left ear right ear) move up and down in the equaliser or audio thing in premiere pro. If I mic up a second person if they have their own transmitter how to set it up so their voice goes on separately. The settings inside this are stereo mono and safery plus L/R and R/L what benefit is that switching thing ?
Curious if the batteries self discharge to protect the battery - just as the dji mini 2 does? Curious how easy it is to replace the internal battery ............or does one throw the mic away like with a gopro hero session 5 with its internal battery thats brutal to replace.
"DJI Action 2 Remote Control Ext Rod" Not yet released - some sites take pre-orders. Or Amazon 'telescopic selfie stick tripod' and DIY the mount - magnet, phone, GoPro or 1/4"
Superbly done guys. I’m a new follower and very pleased to have found your channel. I had recently purchased the Comica D2 but after seeing your posts along with others I quickly sent it back and now patiently waiting for my B&H order to arrive!! Cheers.
Great Post love ya'lls stuff, yes im from Arkansas and we talk like that 🙂 but anyway i just got the BLACK MAGIC 6k pro shot a wedding and used and OLD WIRELESS mic setup it was last minute for a granddaughter, the 6k pro worked spectacularly but the audio was almost useless so have another grandaughter getting married soon and was debating tRODE but chose the dji instead based on your great review keep up the great work it wil be here a month before the wedding so will have some test time with it this tiem
Are you able to unlink only one transmitter to the reciever for internal recording only while having the other transmitter linked to the reciever at the same time or will they both automatically be linked to the recirver if all 3 are turned on?
ARKTNOoooo yeah man 👍🏻 Just pulled the trigger and purchased this wee DJI mic system
It's clear you're having fun with the DJI Mic, because we're having fun watching these videos! Glad it came just in time before going to RODE.
What's the name of the magnetic tripod to connect your dji mic to purchase?
Great post guys! In the case of your suggestion of recording four audio sources to a DSLR, perhaps it's worth mentioning the backup recording redundancy of the transmitters, letting you re-mix the four tracks in post if necessary

The things you can do with a simple versatile thing!
Again bloody brilliant fella. Answered a lot of my “what ifs” with this system.
Your video just earned a place in my playlist "essential stuff"
Great video. How are u connecting the mic to the tripod? Am struggling to find an adaptor
Did you find it Marcus ?
@@rodrigo.roveri Yes solved it thanks
Really good ideas. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Much love
Matthias 👋
Hi guys just wondering where do you get the stand/selfie stick plus the magnetic ball head from to suit the DJI mic?
Did u figure a solution here?
Thank you so much! I just got my DJI Mic last Monday. So excited to get started and you only make me more excited to use it with this video!
Nice job! I love the McGyver approach to the different setups. One thing you forgot to mention is that the DJI recorder records in 32 bit resolution which means there is incredible headroom and ability to increase volume if you record a low signal. Thanks for the tips!!!

You guys inspired me to get a drone for my vlogs for xmas :)
Where did you get the stand for the mic ? ✌🏼
Links in the description. Cheers!
@@DroneFilmGuide Great video. Did not see the link for the desktop magnetic mic stand.
Great ideas! Thanks
Excellent Video and Excellent Information! Great Ideas. Thank You.
So cool! Thanks for these creative hacks!
Also how are you hooking it up to your mac
Excellent video. Tons of great ideas! Thanks!

Super useful video, thanks so much.
Hey can you split the output from the receiver to a 2 separate mono channels to be able to record in separate inputs on a sound recorder?
Would the Dji wireless be good for recording a small venue concert? For the music and also the crowd singing along?
What’s your workflow for getting the audio files off the transmitter and on to an iPhone/iPad?
Fantastic work as always.
Do you think DJI will ever have these available for delivery? Paid for mine 2 months ago and still don't have anything but excuses.
That’s an amazing thumbnail! The video is great too!
Do you have a link to that desktop device you're using to house the DJI transmitter?

My uncle primarily uses his cell phone for business and asked me how he can get a professional voicemail file uploaded to his iPhone’s voicemail. I googled this and it seems no one had found any way to do this. All forums said it was not possible, as iPhone doesn’t allow file uploads to voicemail. Superbly done guys. I’m a new follower and very pleased to have found your channel. I had recently purchased the Comica D2 but after seeing your posts along with others I quickly sent it back and now patiently waiting for my B&H order to arrive!! Cheers.
Thanks Stephen! Great to have you here!

Hi, i do not find this little Tripod shown in the first scene - It is not the tripod with the remote. Do you perhaps have a link?

Can you tell me the name of the mic stand that you use on the roving reporter part?
It's the DJI Action 2 Mini Tripod - not sure it's out yet mind you.
@@DroneFilmGuide where did you get the magnetic ball joint mount ?
When you attach the Rode boom mic at 5.15 - would the same set up work with a sennheiser 416 p48?
Thanks for all of this info. A question: what do you recommend as setting for using this as a podcasting mic (2 persons)
What splitter did you use?
Are you able to unlink only one transmitter to the reciever for internal recording only while having the other transmitter linked to the reciever at the same time or will they both automatically be linked to the recirver if all 3 are turned on?
If the transmitter is switched on it will be automatically paired to the receiver.
