May I ask a question, as a 2x6 navy reservist I extended my service for 22 years which should allow for retirement pay. When I submitted my request at age 66! it was denied. The reason given was I didn’t complete enough reserve time which was calculated less than 20 years. Is there any recourse to this denial?
I've been talking about veteran's benefits for almost 5 years now and just learned about it for this video. There are so many great resources out there that vets don't know about which is why it's important for us to share the knowledge and help each other out.
Is a mortgage on your primary residence deducted from the assets total? Taking the funds from savings to pay off the house definitely puts the figures under the maximum assets allowed ($150k?), but he doesn’t want to do that. Thanks.
You need at least 1 day of active duty service during a wartime period. You need at least two years of service or the full period of AD as called up as a member of guard reserves. Your VA compensation and any other income are deducted from your eligible pension amounts dollar for dollar. You need to meet income requirements.
I'm not an expert, but I would think the answer is no. As far as I can tell, the only possibility of back payments would be from the day someone does their intent to file. Someone else may have more info for you though.
VSOs will not know about this program. They don’t even know about SMCs
Thank you Brother, unknown info
I'm glad to help!

How come nobody tells you about this.
Because VSOs are old as dirt and don’t do continuous learning like the private companies getting paid to help vets

Best of luck to you!

Will you get back pay if you are over 65 years old but havent applied yet? Basically will they start the payments from the time you turned 65?
