Thanks for washing a clean car.
Please feel free to come over and demonstrate this method on my car. Better come over every week just to be sure.
"don't bottom to top". Then goes bottom to top
Don’t want a yeast infection either
two things I noticed:
1. I try not to aim the water hose at the ground right next to the car. This causes dirt to spray onto the car and results in scratches when washing or drying.
2. If you don't fill up the wash bucket all the way before adding the shampoo, you wont waste any water/foam when you "suds it up".
Saw the same things in your E39 maintenance wash video.
i thought that was only me!
dylpickle 1404 haha
Ty
All good except that hose nozzle. It gives me OCD to see how long it takes to stop the water flow. Any trigger nozzle for $3 will do it just fine
Extra nerdy tips : 1. Use 2 different wash mitts( i use 3). One for top and the other one for the bottom. The way you DRY your vehicle is just as important as the way you WASH it. I would recommend using a spray wax with a damp microfiber than buff off the remaining streaks with a dry microfiber. Sometimes when spots are missed you just wipe over them and rub the dirt into the paint. Be sure to flip the towel If it becomes soiled. Also, spray wax leaves a nice shine and a little protection behind. And as said in the video, wipe in straight lines. Just some extra tips...
Thanks!
Ty!
next time try to wash a dirty car, not one that is super clean
No Swirls, No Scratches, simply because its a CLEAN car ! Thanks Ahmed !...
vossen....lol..you dirty armo
Facts
I believe the point of the video is to demonstrate the process - not to show effectiveness of the product.
Yeah this video would get so much more views
I personally use the 20 bucket method.
😆
You’re gonna want to buy the chemical guys hose. It’s a better hose.
😂
This was awesome! Great video! Thank you!
A lot of people are overlooking the clothes that you wear while giving the car a wash. Make sure you avoid any clothing with metal buttons or accessories like, bracelets, rings, studs or chains. These could potentially scratch the surface of the vehicle when you lean over.
Great tip!
I’ve scratched cars before with a pocket knife that was hanging by the tab on the outside on my pocket. I started just putting the knife in my pocket all the way
Yeah when i work on the motor of my mini truck my belt scratch the fender, good thing is that i learned that with the mini truck because is a piece of crap and is nothing but a little detail on the horrible paint, i cant imagine runinig the paint of my dads car

Washing, rinsing, soaking, wringing...if we followed these steps from A to Z it would take 7 hours to wash a car. After a week we would need to wash the car and repeat the entire process all over again. Dear God...
Hi KhunFon, how's it going? That's why we seal and wax our cars! It makes maintenance sooo much easier. Every now and then, you will have to do the full, long detail, but if you use something like Jet Seal, your car can be protected for up to a whole year! JetSeal bonds to the surface and helps repel water spots, industrial fallout and pollution contamination, road grime, solar rays, and residues from birds, bugs, and other road-borne hazards. Applying a wax on top of that ensures the slipperiest surface to fight off water spots, bird droppings, road tar, and many other things that would otherwise stick to your paint. Once you do a full detail, washing your car after is more maintenance and should be a breeze! Thanks for watching, and make sure to stay tuned for more exciting videos coming your way soon!
2 hours max. unless you are retired.
The most important step is to get most of the dirt off the paint before you touch it. I also think just hosing off your mitt or sponge instead of using the second bucket is faster, easier, and cleans it better. To drag two heavy buckets around the car is a PITA. To clean the wheels I use a foam sprayer and a soft brush.
***** Problem is a lot of people don't have access to a hose near their car. The other issue is water supply. Unless you live somewhere with excess water washing with a hose like that is extremely wasteful. Also, if your car is reasonably clean there the two bucket method works just as well
Hew Onte I don't use more water to rinse the mitt than it takes to fill up a bucket, I think I use less actually. In the case you don't have a hose and your car isn't too dirty, I would instead recommend a rinse less wash like Optimum No Rinse.
On the off chance that you even see this, what do you use to get the dirt off before touching the car? Is just rinsing it with a hose/pressure washer enough?
I don’t wash my Tesla, this way the dirt protects the paint
Max G my trucks got a nice shell of bird dung. I can’t wait to crack it open, it’ll be like a diamond finish haha.
thanks for the tip on straight lines and top to bottom on the doors!
Thanks for posting this video !
Happy detailing!
I live in the northeast where we get a lot of snow, salt, and dirt in the winter. I just got a new car. On my previous car, rust was starting to form in the gap between the fender/bumper, and fender/rocker panel. I will be doing the 2 bucket method at the local self wash bays. How to I clean the gaps properly to avoid rust in those gaps?
You have to twist the hose every time? What a bother.
nice shades!
very clear vid tnx
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
This is so helpful thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
@@ChemicalGuys can I ask- what do I do about the spots stains marks etc that are left on the car after finishing the two bucket method? All the tough spots that don’t come off from the two bucket method? (Because we’re not supposed to scrub hard or anything with the two bucket method right?)
Hi Greg! How would you recommend washing the gray matter waffle weave towel? Thanks
Thank you.
Happy detailing!!
this is truly bucket science
Top to bottom is best tip on this video. Just like a shower folks. Shampoo then bodywash.
Hello, thank you for the video this was very helpful.
I was in a car accident a little over 10 years ago and did damage to my wrist. I am no longer even able to use a pump sprayer as after a few pumps my wrist begins to hurt. Because of this I cannot wash my car by hand. Is there something you recommend that can screw onto a pole so I do not have to physically use my hand to wash the car. Thanks
Just pay to get it washed. Is it really worth the hassle
@@aky173 Paying someone to hand wash your car is guap. In my area, just a basic exterior detail, which is exactly like this two-bucket method is about $100.
Lots of nasty comments but I sure appreciate the videos. 510k subscribers speaks for itself! 👍
haha😂. they are bought subs
I want to be like ya man i love cleaning cars keep that up bro.
What’s a Jagwah?
grit guard in soapy bucket is usles. 1 in dirty bucket is enough
Chemical Guys 2 Bucket Method requires grit guards in both buckets for maximum protection.
-Greg@CG
ffatko1 Wash a car with grit guards in both buckets and tell me there isn't dirt in your clean soapy bucket.. I wash my car weekly using this method and am always surprised how much dirt settles in the wash bucket even after rinsing the mitt in the clean bucket. Is it absolutely necessary? Maybe not but for the cost why not..
@@ChemicalGuys you missed the part where you explain why
@@thatdudemoe9109 Isn't it obvious? The grit guard in the soap bucket is in case you didn't quite get all the grit off in the rinse bucket. Doesn't hurt!
The method for car owners who REALLY care.... or. have OCD or other mental illnesses. Also the method for professionals because EVERYONE cares when it comes to paying someone else to wash your car only to have it scratched.
lol. i think every detailer has a bit of ocd.
Did you use cold water there?
And that wash mit hardly had any soap on it.
Will this method work with non chemical guys buckets?
Of course not.
3..45 tell us not to go bottom to top then goes from bottom of door back up to handle 😂
where do I get that wash caddy?
That car is so beautiful.
old video but does anyone know what stool he is using?
Chemical Guys how do you wash the mit when you're done? Can you put them in the washing machine? Dryer?
Yes, you can wash your wash mitt with your paint-drying microfiber towels. Use microfiber detergent, no fabric softener, hot water, and low dryer heat.
-matt@CG
Thank you
Happy detailing!
Is it okay that I use 3 buckets I just get OCD about my nice car so I have a bucket for tires and then the 2 bucket method for the exterior or should I try something different.
Samantha Hudler That's exactly how we clean wheels and exterior paintwork. The proper 2 Bucket Method requires 3 buckets: 2 for paint, 1 for wheels!
Chemical Guys awesome people thought I was crazy but when you pay for cars I want them to stay nice.
Does the mit need to be washed after wards. Or just rubbing on the grit guard gets rid of dirt for the next time your wash?
CoziHasSauce you mean washing it in the washmachine or?
ADDONRACER Yep
You might be able to use it a few times but you’re gonna want to throw it in the washing machine after a few uses.
I couldn’t take this video seriously, sitting the whole time.
I don't have a hose to rinse my car. I can only have water in buckets. How do you recommend I may go about washing my car? Thank you
Hi there! Check out Rinse Free to clean your vehicle without running water.

@@ChemicalGuys Thank you. will do
I'm sorry but wasn't a video in this made already? Or is this just an update
Love the way americans say Jagwaaarrr
Why not just wash the bottom of the car last? Then use that bucket and wash the wheels? Not rocket science people.
That water pressure is way too hard. Why go to the trouble of preventing surface scratches with a grit guard and then blast the car with high pressure water?
What for real.?? I didn't know this.
@@angeldew77 Car paint can take pretty high water pressure, ignore this dude.
The only thing that confuses me about this method is, if you're washing the car panel by panel, you'll be getting panels you've previously washed and dried wet again. What do you do then? Do you just dry them all over again or just leave it alone.
You dry the whole car at the end he just demonstrated on one panel
+Jack Chatelain yeah I used common sense and figured it out lol
@@jackmichaelchat Yea . . . down south it's dry by the time you get to it . . . then you just leave sweat deposits.
This works only if the car is already kinda clean. I doubt I could do this to my Hyundai Tucson when it's all muddy.
Bitch
KURWA
hi where can i buy that seat stool thing ?
Hey thanks for watching, we don't sell that, however, we do have something that works similarly. We have the Professional Bucket Dolly which has wheels and a 12" diameter where you can place a bucket. The bucket dolly isn't just perfect for carting your wash bucket around, you put a lid on it and you can sit on it as well. The bucket and wheel dolly combination makes sense because you can clean your wheels without having to sit on the ground, and you don't get leg cramps. I'm going to leave you some links for your benefit.

Harbor freight tools if you haven't already figured out where to go👍
Because he said "any car", I think I know the answer to this, but can anyone confirm this is safe for cars with ceramic coating?
I have never sat down to wash a car.
Cleanest "dirty" car I have ever seen.
Grit guards - like that
1. Probably because you're not recording a video while you wash your car
2. The video was to demonstrate the _method_ , not prove the obvious fact that car shampoos remove dirt.
3. Me too!
Here I’ll save you some time:
1 fill one of the buckets with soap and water
2 fill the second bucket with just water
3 wash car and place cloth into (water only) bucket and scrub the rag onto the grit guard at the bottom, squeeze it out and then put rag back into soapy bucket
Steps following? Repeat lol
I have hard water, will this method work for me ?
Hey! I recommend using After Wash to help prevent water spots during the car wash. Simple spray the wet surface with After Wash to release the surface tension between the water drops and the paint.
@@ChemicalGuys Thank you. I will try it ! I usually use a chamois for drying, will that work with the after wash product ?
What if we use the four buckets way!! Lol
Btw, what do you suggest for a two bucket method for those customers who don't have a grit guard?
Just order it online. Or maybe try a local detailing supply house. They are usually around $10 and are really worth it. It's like Mac n cheese without the cheese....lol but you should probably get one for each bucket. It's a key element to the system.
rinse off your mit before dunking it in the dirty bucket. I've been washing my car without the grit guards for years and never have any swirl issues.
You missed a spot.
I dont have a grid gaurd

What should one do if they don’t have a hose…
Hi there! Using a waterless wash solution such as Swift Wipe is a great alternative to using a traditional wash.
www.chemicalguys.com/swift-wipe-waterless-wash/swift-wipe-waterless-wash.html
What if you don't have a hose? Pour a bucket of water over your car?
Hi Derek, thanks for watching our video. You honestly don't need a hose, you can get the same results by using a spray bottle full of your soap of choice and pre saturating the paint before using a wash mitt. I would recommend using Rinse Free Wash & Shine because you don't need to hose it off, it dries naturally to a streak free finish. Check out the link to the product and a video of how it works.

You use spit instead
Yep! It's called the three bucket method 😂
My question is this... What "pro" detailer washes a car in direct sunlight? No way in hell I'd take my jaguar to this guy.
Hi Timothy, we carry soaps that you can actually use in direct sunlight, and is in no danger to your paint. Mr Pink and V07 are among our best soaps, and people love how they clean, foam, and smell. I sincerely hope you try them some time. Thanks for watching!
Not you aswell chemicalguys!

dont u have feet to stand while cleaning the already clean car and giving a guarantee out of your own mind there will be NO SCRATCHES - NO SWIRLS, wtf who r u to listen to ?!?...

The more you wash your, the higher chance you will introduce scratches
