My exact issue as well. This video was extremely helpful. Our LG dishwasher had all the symptoms mentioned in the video (the washer didn't complete the cycle, there were dirty dishes with dirty water in the dishwasher filter region, the detergent wouldn't empty from the detergent bin, and the high pitched whine was heard with Drain Error on the display). I called LG service and they indicated that it would cost $90 to have a local repair person come by and make an assessment. Of course there would have been additional cost for labor and the $50 part would have likely been marked up by the service company by 100%. I was able to fix the dishwasher, prevent landfill waste and I probably saved between 2-300$ in the process. Many thanks. The dishwasher is working perfectly now.
The spare part was ordered from e-bay for $52 including the shipping.
I also noted that checking the resistance of the drain pump with a multitester was useful. The bad drain pump measured 9-11ohms and the replacement was 2 ohms further giving indication that the repair mentioned in this video would solve the problem. I didn't have to replace the black rubber one way reflux preventing valve in the sump housing adjacent to the drain pump. That valve could only be seen on my unit after the faulty drain pump was removed and it was obvious that the rubber valve was positioned correctly and did not need to be replaced.
Save yourself the money and prevent landfill waste by fixing this problem yourself!! This is a low to mild complexity fix. Thanks for this great video. I didn't have to go out and buy a new dishwasher!

If you are getting this message and you recently installed an Insinkerator garbage disposal, there is a plastic piece you need to knock out inside to the dishwasher inlet tube. Knock it into the garbage disposal and retrieve the plastic piece. Took us two days to figure this out on a brand new dishwasher. Removed plastic piece and it worked just fine.

If you ever put an Insinkerator garbage disposal and first thing you get OE code, there is a plastic tab on the dishwasher inlet tube you have to knock out and remove from inside of garbage disposal that needs knocked out. Found out the hard way.

With my LG I get something similar but it has an E1 error. From what I can tell, E1 means water has leaked out and the dishwasher has detected the water leak. The dishwasher then turns the pump on continually to try and empty the water. Even if you turn off power to the dishwasher, it will come back if it still senses water where it shouldn't be. You need drain it then let the water it's sensing dry out. Only then will E1 go away when you cycle power to the dishwasher. (Well technically provided water isn't still leaking you don't need to drain it but it's probably best.)
As I mentioned in another reply, you can get E1 error with a draining problem, especially if you keep trying despite an OE error without properly emptying the dishwasher.

@@josephjames6369 I had the same problem, surging water flow from the pump but not completely draining. OE error before the soap drop and water left in the bottom. Ordered a new pump and had it in in about 20 minutes, only tools needed were a philips screwdriver to remove the kick plate and a pair of pliers for the hose clamp. Solved the problem and I now get a steady, strong stream out of the drain tube. Given the number of google hits on LG OE error I'm suspecting this is a very common problem.

    • @tetyoonlee4373

As far as I can tell, E1 means water has leaked out and been sensed by the dishwasher. It then turns the pump on continually to try and empty the water. Even if you turn off power to the dishwasher, it will come back if it still senses water where it shouldn't be. You need drain it then let the water it's sensing dry out. Only then will E1 go away when you cycle power to the dishwasher.
As for why E1 happens, it may be because the dishwasher got overfull because it wasn't draining properly, especially if you tried to run it a few times despite DE/OE. Or it may be there is a leak in a hose or something. If it's just an overflow from not draining properly, then this video could still apply.
