Thanks for posting this. It is frustrating when you cannot find a video on the boots you are looking into. I’m very interested in getting some Whites Stockman’s in Red Dog leather, but there are no videos on them. Those Packers look awesome.
I got 4 pair of whites packers. I really like them. I wear Frank's type 1 commanders for work everyday. The only boots i have found to hold up to what i do everyday. I plan to order a pair of tall packers from Frank's one day. I have more than i can wear right now.
@@bustinout Out of Nick's. Wesco. JK and White's. I think Frank's is the winner. Nick's and Frank's are pretty close on the top. But Frank's seem to be just cut above the rest. I have a pair of 16 inch Frank's I am still breaking in also.
My only problem with my Packers is the stitching on the bottom of the sole is not sunk in so it wears out crazy fast. They need to cut a groove around the rim of the sole and put the stitching in that. It's simple to do and makes the stitching last years longer.
Weirdly enough I was cleaning my boots about an hour ago and was thinking the same thing. I’m on rocks and concrete enough that I don’t hardly have any stitching on the soles showing.
Same. I’ve been breaking in my Packers for about two weeks now and the stitching on the bottom is almost gone. It’s probably going to take a long while for the glue to loosen and that’s when the stitching really helps. I just put in an order for a pair of smokejumpers and they don’t only have stitching to reinforce the glue but they also have screws. I understand that’s for the heat they will be taking but that same concept could go into there other work boots.
@@brockhaffner447 yeah mine is pretty much gone now. It’s definitely something I would alter. I’ve also noticed an annoying squeaking in the left boot now. They still feel great though.
I have a pair of red wing iron rangers. Does the same thing. But I did a lot of research. Watched a lot of cobblers disassemble worn out red wings… the stitching fading at the bottom never seemed to affect the sole coming off easier. Same with my pair. They aren’t separating at all after a year and a half of hard use. 🤷♂️ Personally I don’t think it’s a quality issue.
Nice to see taller boots, most people only get 8,10 inch. How does the top of the boot feel against the calf, is it "tiring" or uncomfortable? Nice review!
Thanks man! The 16 inch tops are great. I’m used to a taller boot so I don’t think it’s uncomfortable at all. I recommend a tall sock, almost knee high, and you should have no problems with tall tops. The only problem is for about the first few weeks until you break them in you won’t have much ankle movement lol.
From what I’ve heard the fit and finish (cleanliness of stitching, knocked down edges etc) on Wesco and whites beats nicks, not that nicks arent nice they’re just work boots. They seem to be know for being the indestructible woodland firefighter boots and just that, so if you’re happy with the whites I’d just stick to them. Honestly in that teir of boot they’re all about the same and it comes down to just picking a brand because it appeals to you
I haven’t personally seen a pair of nicks up close (since I’m in Oklahoma) but I think here in 5 or 6 years I might try a pair of nicks, but for right now I don’t see me wearing anything but these whites. They fit even better now than they did when I made this video.

FYI i haven’t got my 2 bladed Trapper yet. hey D can you please tell what make your knife is? anyway take care kevin. keep your videos coming i really like your style. thank you again if you see this please tell what trapper knife you recommend for me.
How wide is the sole at it's widest point? I'd like to ride in some of those but seems like most boots are too wide for a sturrip. With lace ups it would be a bad situation if a guy got hung up
So at the widest point these boots are 4.5 inches. I don’t recommend oxbows cause of the Vibram sole. Other than that I haven’t seen any problems with other sturrips. I have a set of bells that my foot has plenty of play in.

Hey there, those are some great looking boots, can I ask, did you have to contact whites order department to arrange to have those packers come to 16 inch height? Was that more expensive than the base model? Also you said you got spur shelf and underslung heel, for these options did you find a custom options section on whites website or were you informed by whites customer service what kind of customisation options where available to you. I ask cause I'm thinking of getting me a pair of packers also, about 10 inch height is my preference, but I'm interested in perusing what other options whites offer for custom boots, but unfortunately their website doesn't show you a section where you can browse all the options you might desire. Great boot choice man, between whites , Nick's boots ,wesco and Frank's boots, they are basically the best boots money can buy, sure you can spend even more on some dog-sh*t limited edition plastic jordans, but those fools are paying for a brand name, as a supposed status symbol, rather than paying for the quantifiable quality and performance a customer can get from the likes of whites boots. Hell, slap a 'supreme' logo or 'Gucci' logo onto roadkill and people will pay thousands for it haha! Good find on the whites, you got good taste. Regards, T.
If you go through a store like little joes boots in okc he will call them or you can call whites order department and arrange every specification on the boot from type of sole, top height, spur shelf and color. Depending on the options that you choose it is going to be a couple $100 more. So it will be somewhere around $700 to $800. These are going to be well worth it though cause I’m never wore out after wearing them for 14 hours. No back or knee pain at all.
Thanks for the reply, that's good to know, yeah a little bit extra spent goes a long way. Last thing I'll ask if I may, with the sizing, did you go down one full size from your regular boot? I've read the packer has the highest arch in whites inventory, and as such they recommend a half size down to a full size down. I'm curious to see what route you took and if it worked out okay. I know you had your foot measured, just wondering what's your regular boot size and what size did whites give you in your packer. Thanks again man, best wishes.

Why that tall? Lineman use them to protect their calf’s from climbers but I see no purpose other than that. Takes to long to laces up or unlace if you ask me.
Man it takes about a minute longer to lace but you only have to do that once a day. The reason I got them so tall is for brush and snakes if need be ( even though there are few venomous snakes her). It protects up to the knees. Man also I’m use to 14 to 16 inch tops on all my boots so it was kinda a personal preference thing
If you ride in the brush a lot, with chinks or just britches , you can’t beat em. I’ve cowboyed all my life ( I’m 61) and I love my Whites. I wear a 10 “, but I think if I used them to straight up ride everyday , I’d get 16s. Other guys have told me to stay away from 12 and 14 , they run your calf. But a 16 is above the pressure point.
Small correction: it’s a leather stack on the shank, not steel. I got carried away with the magnet and it was attaching to the nails.
I believe wesco is the main/only PNW (Pacific Northwest) brand that does steel shanks
