Deciding between these, 350 cutter in black chromexcel, or the MP-Sherman in black chromexcel…how’s the roughout been? I’ve never had a roughout leather boot, is it pretty easy to care and maintain?
They require almost zero maintenance, just a brushing if you feel like it. Rough out does not need to be conditioned or treated unless you really want to.
I wear a 10.5D in both the No. 23 last (RW 875) and the 55 last. Depending on the width of your foot and how well the 875’s fit they would more than likely be the same size.

I wear a size 10 in regular sneakers and 8.5D in RW IR but can only wear them comfortably in thinner socks as they are quite snug in full cushion boot socks. I have the Whites C350-CE in 8.5D and they fits perfectly, with about a thumb space at the toe. The widest part of my foot is right where the boot bends and I have zero heel slip. I hope that helps!

Turn the calipers around. The end is also used for measuring. I'm referring to when you tried to measure the welt. You can butt up the end of the calipers and open them to measure.
Use some Obenaufs heavy duty LP. I just did my red dog roughout ramblers with it and It looks great! The beeswax in it will mat it down for a little while but it pops back up.
Great review man! I just placed order for Brown waxed flesh bounty hunters few days ago… how is the arch support on these as compared your British team ltt boots. Do you feel the arch same way? I’m big on the arch support (I’m aging faster than the boots) so was looking if any wedge sole boots offer the same arch support as you feel with the heels?!
Honestly I feel the arch in this exactly the same as the LTT on 55 last. With the combo of the half slip and the large heel on this 2021 sole, it feels exactly the same. I’d say send it!!
Good perspective, you’re right regardless of color the cxl rough out side is still natural, unless they purposefully die the rough out side on hides designated as rough out. But yeah, likely Seidel.
You obviously dig the 55 last. I just got a pair of these recently and haven't worn them yet because of that arch. I'm used to much flatter boots and I'm hesitant to dig in. That drop off is intimidating. Is that something that wears in fairly quickly? Is it going to ruin my flatter boots for me, or I'll have to start wearing orthotics in them? Was the medium arch an adjustment for you at first?
Hey man. I will say it’s probably going to take you 5-10 wears (all day) to get used to the feeling. And maybe 20-25 to fully break in that arch to your foot, it takes longer with the wedge sole because it’s a softer sole so there’s a little less pressure on the arch, at least that’s my theory. In short, yes if you end up liking the 55 then it will 100% ruin flat boot for you. I haven’t found an orthotic that I like or than even comes close to 55. They always do something weird in the heel. I still wear plenty of boots without 55 like arch support and I can wear them all day,. It’s not painful or anything, you just miss that secure feeling of support that only comes from proper arch support. I have a really high arch so I don’t feel much of anything in a boot until it hits the 55 level. The moderate arch on MPs I can barely feel. Nicks classic arch is good and mellow for an intro into arch, but White’s semi dress/55 is where it’s at! Cheers man hope you can make it work.
Man, ever sense I seen this I've been wondering how that Sole would grip on a roof, because I'm really battling between this and the redwing slate muleskinner MOC. Until I can get some customs from Frank's.
Loads more over a lug sole. The sole on these is much softer than the typical flat bottom Christy sole as well. One of the most bouncy soles I’ve ever had. I ended up selling them a month ago as the thick wedge just turned out to not be a style I really ended up loving. But 55 last boots from white’s are one of my favorites for all day wear. You really can’t go wrong.
@@trinityhandmade3864 Oh, also to mention: their dress leathers (brown dress, black dress, and the "elk tan" which are just thicker versions of the same) are also from Seidel. Criminally underrated tannery if you ask me!

Yes, super comfy and water reisistant. Not water proof, for water proof you will need something designed for that

How do you feel about them after 6 months? How much shock absorption does the sole give you over a vibrant lug sole?
