Ive been wearing the distressed perry whites for about a month. Doing heavy labor work on both cement and dirt and they have been feeling good so far. The outsole has been wearing fairly fast. But other then that I have nothing bad to say about these boots. Best boots I’ve had yet.
I love my perry boots. I just got them in and have only worn them one day but they were great. I did 4 hours of order selection in a refrigerated warehouse followed by 7 hours of equipment operation on and off a Hilo. My feet got a little sore and the heel didn't blister but got a little red. The insert seems like it help a lot with making them comfy right away and im looking forward to the leather insole and cork to mold to my foot. They are so solid under foot and feel great. I've never bought a pair of boots over $100 and these were fantastic. Here's hoping they last several years in the warehouse and i dont wear though the toe too bad.
He would benefit by making sure to keep his head above his mid-foot. Perhaps also regressing the movement by sitting back on a table, then a chair, then box.
I have brought two of those boots in black and brown and both of them have past my expectation. Very high value boots for the price, they carry the comfort of Thorogood and the high end leather and finish of redwing. I loved the black boot it comes in matte finish black and the quality is a world class leading by itself. I own 12 boots from Redwing, 9 Thorogood, 5 Wolverine , 3 Nick's boot the Robert, 3 white's boots. I am really excited to see more color options from White's boots Perry to catch up to the huge selection of Redwing moc toe. Thank you for this amazing review and your bias opinion. Keep it up
I've owned a distressed pair of Perry's for about 6 mos.....spot on review.....def. order 1 full size down from your brannock size....,they are great looking boots and well worth the $269 price tag
I took the foam insert out 1st thing and am 80 hrs into the break in and and its getting more comfortable every day and am happy with my purchase. Its my work boot. Now I'm looking for my going to town boot next.
@@Stridewise I am kicking it around. My wife says I buy too many and that I need to slow down on purchases. However, fathers day is coming...I am writing the narrative. You already made me get a pair of Thursday boots! (Wear them all the time. Comfortable.)
I like this new guy, he gets it. I do think Red Wing still wins due to the thicker leather insole, variety of leathers, full grain leather lining, and leather heel counter. Just way more leather involved.
Great review! I recently bought a pair of Thorogood mocs (as a workboot) and I have a pair of Redwing mocs (Casual boot for me). Your review really makes want to get a pair of White's but I have too many boots already. In the future if I can convince my self to get another moc the Whites will be first on my list. Thanks!
Weird. I have a pair of thorogoods for work boots. Probably 1000 miles on them. And redwings as casual boots. Even more miles. Soles are flat…. The thorogoods absolutely kill my feet! The stitching on the outside of the boot it too far forward and can feel it on the outside of the foot. Im trying to replace them and thinking about whites because they seem like a better work boot than the redwings would be. Seems like they would be equally be as good of a work boot as thorogoods
@@cogden17 The thorogoods were a great fit for me very comfortable with a secure feeling perfect as a work boot with almost no break in, the Redwings took about 10-20 uses before they broke in I had some soreness and rubbing at first but now they fit like a glove and are slightly more comfortable than the Thorogoods. You might just need a different size or width with Thorogoods to make them work? Since I don't do heavy construction anymore the Thorogoods will last a long time, the Whites will be next on my let me know how you like them if you get a pair.
Great review fellas. Looks like that lower price point didnt last very long, I just checked the website bumped up to 289.99. P.S. just got my Shipjohn wills jacket Troy did a review on so like above i agree bringing Troy on is a good move.
Nice review! I bought The Red Dogs as soon as they were available (I was ordering Distressed when they added the Red Dog to the site and changed my order.) PROS: great leather and hardware. Zero breakin, ZERO BLISTERS for me. Toe box is VERY roomy (I like that). I ordered the same size as I do Red Wings. I could have gone another half size down, but I replaced that garbage Ortholite insole with a fantastic Spenco Polysorb Walker/Runner insole and the Perrys fit me perfectly now. The Red Dog leather is showing signs of darkening in areas similar to the distressed on the video. CONS: The finish work on these Perrys is SHIT!!! The first pair arrived with the tops of the moc toes pointing outwards significantly compared to the rest of the boot (11 o'clock and 1 o'clock). Whites said the boots were twisted while lasting. The replacements were slightly better, but not totally straight to the rest of the boot. Originals had the welt stitching at the toe of one boot cut (about an inch in length) while finishing the sole edges. Lots of loose threads all over and large hardened blobs of glue on the leather footbed. The Vibram Christy sole is wearing exceptionally fast at the heel compared to the similar white wedge sole on my Red Wing Work Chukkas! IMO, Whites treats these Perrys as their bargain basement bastard stepchild. "If you are going to take the time to introduce a new boot, make it the best that you can" does not seem to be the philosophy at Whites. I like my Perrys very much, and they are really comfortable now. But based on my first experience with Whites, I will not be a Whites repeat customer.
I just looked at my distressed leather Perry's and the moc toe on my left boot is out of line with the rest of the boot just as you described! The right foot is a little closer to being in line with the rest of the boot. I never noticed this before you mentioned it. I still really like the boots. I had very little brakein time and I did not get any blisters.
How do you like the red dog leather? He stated it felt "foamy" in the video, and I have no idea what he means by that. I prefer the red dog based on looks, but I would choose distressed if it holds up better.
@@calebsmydra8278 I don't know what foamy means either! The only RW I have to compare to are Chukkas. The RW Briar Oil Slick, Black Harness, and Olive Suede. The Perrys feel slightly thicker, but less oily. I have zero doubt about the durability of the Whites compared to the RW. The materials are top notch. It's the build and finish that I have a problem with. The brass hooks seem machined instead of formed. No way will they get bent. I applied Saphir Reneveteur Medal d'Ore befroe I wore them. i have the Foremans in black, similar to the perrys except not moc toe, and i love them, i have had them for about a year now and they are finally starting to break in really nice
I bought a pair of these in the distressed leather back in December and have been very happy with them. QUESTION: What can I use to condition them that will not darken the leather?
I've had the black moc toe since the release date, the only flaw in them is the tongue is super super skinny leather. Other than that the boots are perfect and light.
I've had my pair for about 4 months now and they def get worn the most. They're not my fav looks wise but I find myself wearing them the most due to comfort. I have the distressed pair. My only complaint is that there are sewing machine marks throughout the leather along the stitching. I'm not sure it'll ever go away. Also some of the stitching is not straight. Honestly it does not bother me. I do wonder if it should have passed qc though. Regardless, I love them. The stiff counter doesn't bother me.
Perry without a doubt. Better materials and craftsmanship. Whites is so much better than Thursday; it isn’t even close. And I got nothing against Thursday either.
I wear a 7.5 shoe and went with their size 7 because they...don't make a 6.5 haha but I'm buying it specifically to work in, so I'm hoping a smidge of extra room is good. They're my second pair of boots, after a pair of Thursday Captains, so I'm super excited! This review definitely helped me choose between these and other options.
i don't believe these are vibram christy soles but are a white's branded sole with a steel shank inside the sole that comes from the same manufacturer that creates the soles for danner and thorogood.
I think this was initially the case (I have a pair like you describe), but if you look at their website now the description and outsole picture clearly says "Vibram". I wonder if they changed the construction to have the shank between the insole and midsole like a more traditional boot....
Initially true. But now they are using Vibram Christy soles that wear REALLY FAST. Two months in, and my Red Dog Perry soles are showing lots of heel wear. The similar Red Wing white wedge soles on my RW Work Chukkas are not showing the same wear.
Ah thanks for the reply, I guess I got an early pair back in late 2019 and now Will probably have to get another...i like comfort of the Christy sole. Thanks for the heads up
Great video gents! Love seeing more quality USA made boots at affordable prices! Maybe tell Troy to lay off the the hair gel a bit, the lad looks greasy.
I bought a pair of Whites Perrys 3 years ago. I wear them still but damn i hate the material of the heel counter. I continually get blisters if I wear them walking around for more than an hour. That heel just hasn't broken in.
I've had a pair of distressed since December and I truly love these boots. I have bad get with high arches and my feet are severely different sizes. I called when making my order and they helped me figure out what size to order with the assurance I could return them if the fit was bad. I went to a large RW store before ordering these and couldn't find a moc toe that fit reasonably well. I like the distressed leather better than what I saw at RW, but that is a personal preference thing. The Whites fit incredibly well and required very little break in (one day of soreness, no blisters). I could walk in these boots all day long. They are more comfortable than my sneakers.
I’ve been wearing 350 cutters for a year and I think I need something with less arch but still supportive enough to prevent my arches from falling. Do you think these fit the bill?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looked like the cravar duffle (3:08). Hope we get to see a review of that to see how their twill holds up against some of the bigger brands.
Good eye Tony! That is a cravar duffle, we're going to put a written review up in the coming weeks. Not sure if there's enough demand to justify a video but hey, I often make videos of stuff that don't justify videos haha
Dec. 2022 update, picked up a black pair over Black Friday for $270ish. Other than the welt stitch being uneven the finishing on my black pair is great, I used the White’s measuring guide and got a 7.5E. Fit is spot on. New favorite boots. The laces kinda suck IMO, swapped out for some natural leather ones, love the way they pop. Had a little bit of a hot spot at heel but stopped after about a week of wearing almost every day. Also, I don’t think it’s a cardboard heel counter. Check out Rose Anvil’s cut apart video. I’m a fan of the thick heel counter.
Love the look but have to send pack my 2nd pair of Perrys. Both attempts raised and blew a hole in back of heel within 5 minutes due to that stitching up the back and the shape of the counter. Never blistered so quickly or had that happen and I have a pair of the Cutters and they feel fine.
Just tried to wear a pair of Thorogoods but found the toe box was SLIGHTLY too narrow (even if I broke them in I'd be over the side of the sole). Here's to hoping a pair of White's Perry boots will serve me well. Unfortunately not union made.
I have been wearing my Perry Moc toes for about a month now. They still look good for my work boot. Any boot conditioners you recommend for the distressed model?
The distressed model is made of full grain but is essentially an oiled nubuck or top grain type of leather and if you add conditioner to it, it will darken significantly and loose it’s colour.
Haha I wasn't expecting to see Wolverine name dropped.lol. awesome video, gotta love some PNW boots. Don't care for cardboard counters as other have mentioned, but these look legit. Gonna snag a pair soon!
I would get a pair at a heartbeat if Whites offer either a brown or black sole. I just have a hard time wearing moc-toes with creamy white soles. To me, a white sole is like fitting a set of tires on my car with white sidewalls. 😬
Thursday are made in Mexico with man made products Whites are USA made and the mid sole is leather no made made Thursday insole can't be removes and its made ponor
Danner Bull Run can be got at good prices from Amazon AU but that's about it. I bought White MP from Franklin and Poe for USD 40 shipping but it looks like the Perry's can only be bought from White's.
I love my pair. They are absolute tanks, though, and feel like they add 15 pounds to your feet. I also should have gone down a full size instead of a half size.
I just ordered a pair of these in distressed. Does anybody have any pointers on how to care for distressed leather? Maybe just distressed leather conditioner and some waterproofing spray? Thanks for any help!
I’ve never had good luck with cardboard heel boxes. My guess is this one won’t be any better. If you work in wet conditions or sweat like crazy I’d suggest you pass on these. IMO
I was nervous about that on these, too. The compressed cardboard on the Perry's is sandwiched between some think leather. Mine have held up great so far, but they've only got 5 months or so of use so far. Hopefully it keeps up.
I have yet to find one high end boot company to make an 8-in moc toe in Black I'm starting to think it's a conspiracy! I know as soon as I buy something else somebody's going to make it
@@gatriemacleinn1976 thats objectively wrong, the red wing moc uses more leather overall in the construction of the boot, more leather = better quality.

Always happy to chat. Your best bet is to buy independent brands from a knowledgeable optician. Avoid the licensed fashion product and internet based direct to consumer brands. If you have the budget, Japanese eyewear is among the best in the world!
I have the RW Iron Rangers in copper rough and tough and a pair of Whites Perry in Red Dog. I agree with you. The copper rough and tough leather is far superior.
Good looking boot. Personally, when doing book reviews I don’t know why nobody ever talks about a leather welt versus a plastic welt. If you’re going to do a lot of work in them and or bending, the plastic welt, again it’s just plastic, and it will break and crack overtime. Whereas, a leather welt will not do this. Definitely a “Con” in my book especially for the price point.
Anyone know why all these brands have an extra eyelet on top instead of a speed hook? It really annoys me, I think it's for loggers knots but the eyelet isn't big enough to do a loggers knot, so it seems like a waste to me.
@@jackbraddell1124 it might be more likely that I'll buy another pair of Rangers next year instead.😎. Copper maybe🤔. Its been four months and my Black Harness Iron Rangers fit like a Goddamn glove!🇨🇦
Whites sends a great boot to reviewers but to everyone else is a different question. The Perry moc toe quality are junk construction. Left doesn’t not match the right on my 3rd return
My only problem is back in the olden days boot Were made for men doing manly things. It seems like the men that work hard, and do manly things can afford the Higher end boots. If I’m not mistaken, White’s were made for firefighters fighting forest fires. The only time I think you would actually see one of those guys wearing a pair of boots like that is in a movie with Sylvester Stallone, playing a fire fighter, wearing a pair of white boots
My whites premiums came with a big, stained blotch right in the middle of the toe box. They look horrendous. Quality control is garbage. Waiting 10 weeks for disappointment is guaranteed. They don't even bother entering a tracking number so hope for the best.
Veg tan leather is a much better leather then Chrome X leather Wow $269 is a great price price out there $600 plus and Nicks start at $500 and up this is a great deal for a Moc toe made USA with mid sole Veg tan leather and no poron man made that will break down like the Thorogood's moc toe over time . The only problem do they made this boot in a steal toe for work ? I don't think so
Bought a pair of these back in December. They were littered with problems (crooked stitching, the welt had a gap, the sole was much too long for the boot, and the eyelets were nowhere close to lining up). I was able to exchange them and the next pair I received was even worse. The customer service was great, but the product was terrible.

i don't believe these are vibram christy soles but are a white's branded sole with a steel shank inside the sole that comes from the same manufacturer that creates the soles for danner and thorogood.
This!
I bought mine in Dec 2020 and they have Vibram soles.
Ah thanks for the reply, I guess I got an early pair back in late 2019 and now Will probably have to get another...i like comfort of the Christy sole. Thanks for the heads up
The red dog leather will get a little darker as it ages, unlike the distressed leather which get lighter.
@@jimmydgrant I would think so. Overall, I find them comfortable and form-fitting. They support my arches by molding to them, not pushing.
Thanks for the reply. I’ll give them a shot.
Got mine for $225 delivered with the 20% off fathers day sale.
This was great. Good job Troy 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Andrew
U da man, new guy!!!
Thanks a ton for supporting him man
Awe shucks! *blushes*
@@AlexanderMason1 anything you recommend for boot care products for these Perry's?
@@joshnoi1804 fiebings mink oil doesn't darken the leather much.
I use venetian shoe cream on pretty much everything, though it may affect the nap and darken the boot a little bit.
I conditioned mine a month in. And probably the worst thing I could’ve done. They have significantly darkened
I just started wearing them and it's blister city. I hope my heels break into the counter so I can wear them without band aids.
You'll get there David!
Haha I wasn't expecting to see Wolverine name dropped.lol. awesome video, gotta love some PNW boots. Don't care for cardboard counters as other have mentioned, but these look legit. Gonna snag a pair soon!
Excellent Connot! Wish I was making a commission on all the pairs this video is prompting folks to buy haha but I'm not
@@Stridewise haha man that would be nice!! I wish ya were!!
I would get a pair at a heartbeat if Whites offer either a brown or black sole. I just have a hard time wearing moc-toes with creamy white soles. To me, a white sole is like fitting a set of tires on my car with white sidewalls. 😬
I was going back and forth between these and the redwing 877 I went with the redwing but I still want a pair of these
877 is so iconic though I'm glad you got that one
@Stridewise might get the perry still but was thinking about just cashing out on a custom nicks moc toe for the next boot
Boss… Forget about the price and quality just base on look, which one do you prefer White Moctoe or Thursday Moctoe?
Thursday are made in Mexico with man made products Whites are USA made and the mid sole is leather no made made Thursday insole can't be removes and its made ponor
While Thursday makes a quality boot, the Whites are a step up IMO
@@johnversluis3084 The midsole is not leather. It is rubber.
Personally I enjoy the profile of the White's over Thursday. Pure personal preference.
Love to get a pair of these but USD 125 shipping to Australia is outrageous
Yeah no doubt, I would not buy these. It's hard to get good mocs in Australia!
Good to know another guy felt that way with the sizing!
Amazing boots but also selvedge! What are they?
Ironheart 301s 18 oz Overdyed!
I just ordered a pair of these in distressed. Does anybody have any pointers on how to care for distressed leather? Maybe just distressed leather conditioner and some waterproofing spray? Thanks for any help!
Good looking boot that pairs well with the Air King :)
Eastlands "Lumber Up" Moctoes are a 100$ or less in case anyone's looking for something affordable that looks good and is quality.
You should check out the Canada West moorby boot you don't see to much about them and are a great boot for the price
Definitely buying a pair of these
Enjoy my man, which color?
Probably the distressed… I heard it’s more durable.
I wanna have a beer with this guy lol
I'll buy!
I know as soon as I buy something else somebody's going to make it
Totally love this new guy....
Dude that's really nice of you to say so, I want Troy to be the people's champion :)
Full disclosure...I'm his Dad....
love my perrys! they beat the pants off of RW mocs anyday!
In terms of?
@@StolenAlias everything.
@@gatriemacleinn1976 thats objectively wrong, the red wing moc uses more leather overall in the construction of the boot, more leather = better quality.
@@StolenAlias more leather does not equal better quality. Does more salt mean better cookies? Get your head out of your ass

Hey Nick I'm in the market for some new prescription glasses does Troy have a list or article on that?
Oh wow! You could ask him on Instagram? He works days in his girlfriend's glasses store right now so it might get you a really long answer haha, but his IG is @troybarmore
Always happy to chat. Your best bet is to buy independent brands from a knowledgeable optician. Avoid the licensed fashion product and internet based direct to consumer brands. If you have the budget, Japanese eyewear is among the best in the world!
It's redwing 1907 copper rough and tough for me.. everything else is perpetrators
no speed laces though...
I have the RW Iron Rangers in copper rough and tough and a pair of Whites Perry in Red Dog. I agree with you. The copper rough and tough leather is far superior.
@@djb6496 I love my Rangers because of the speed hooks.
The Oro Red Wing mocs I love.
Way to go to Troy, great video!
Thank you!
Can you wear these without the footbed insert?
Great video this guy was excellent really interesting great video
Thanks Simon! Troy is super articulate and knowledgeable, I'm pumped for his future vids
Thank you so much!
I didn't want red wings so I went with danner bull run because I liked the profile. Then I found these. Wish I would've gotten whites
What do you think about the White’s Millwood Boot?
Nice Explorer 👍🏼
Is it still a good deal at its current $325usd price?
yeah
I like this guy. Well done. Nice boot, too!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Good point! I'll try to incorporate that into future vids
Hate when my books have a plastic welt. smh my head
Is it still true that the shank is built into the sole now that they've changed to the the vibram sole?
It does indeed still have a steel shank.
@@troybarmore5832 but is the shank now above the sole or is it built into the sole. I don't think that Vibram puts the shank in the sole.
@@JustBenInLA Ah I see. That's a great question. From what I understand its recessed into the sole.
How I choose the size? RW 875 in 10D, how about Perry in EE??? 9.5EE??
I’d say 10D.
I use the red ones for construction, keeps me going on jobsites.
i want these but without the steel shank, i think not needed on a wedge sole.
Is it possible to get a pair made without the steel shank?
Anything's possible but it'll probably cost a lot more!
Alden boots question. Are all Alden 403 boots made on the same lasts?
I think all the indys are in the same last they just use different leathers but i could be wrong, Im not an Alden expert.
Why not do carhartt... im curious on their quality of boot
Carhartt has a moc toe...
Check out Rose Anvil's videos about them
Carhartt boots are crap quality.
Cardboard heel counter??
Anyone know why all these brands have an extra eyelet on top instead of a speed hook? It really annoys me, I think it's for loggers knots but the eyelet isn't big enough to do a loggers knot, so it seems like a waste to me.
Compare these against Redwing 1907 with same price.
@@matttherrien9608 I have all three, Redwing 1907 hands down.

Very nice shoes but my started clicking when I walked apparently there some issues with quality control just my experience
Oh that's too bad Jason!
Whites sends a great boot to reviewers but to everyone else is a different question. The Perry moc toe quality are junk construction. Left doesn’t not match the right on my 3rd return
These boots are currently $325 and only come in black or distressed
I know right, what's up with time passing
My only problem is back in the olden days boot Were made for men doing manly things. It seems like the men that work hard, and do manly things can afford the Higher end boots. If I’m not mistaken, White’s were made for firefighters fighting forest fires. The only time I think you would actually see one of those guys wearing a pair of boots like that is in a movie with Sylvester Stallone, playing a fire fighter, wearing a pair of white boots
You should check out the Yanko Moc Toe boot. I think it can be a great competitor. Its a little cheaper, but all leather including heel counter.
My whites premiums came with a big, stained blotch right in the middle of the toe box. They look horrendous. Quality control is garbage. Waiting 10 weeks for disappointment is guaranteed. They don't even bother entering a tracking number so hope for the best.
I want to see these boots actually put to work and used, not just some hipster walking around a city looking “rugged” and “tough”
uh oh masculinity police are here guys
@@Stridewise nope just want to see them being used what they were made for.
@@bradleyb9424 theyre made to be worn.
I don't think so
They don’t offer these in a steel toe, yet.
The midsole on this boot is rubber, not veg tan leather. The insole/foot bed and welt are both veg tan leather.
Bought a pair of these back in December. They were littered with problems (crooked stitching, the welt had a gap, the sole was much too long for the boot, and the eyelets were nowhere close to lining up). I was able to exchange them and the next pair I received was even worse. The customer service was great, but the product was terrible.
I’d say you’ve sold me, but my first moc toe HAS to be a red wing and I have my eye on an EU market exclusive. Figuring out the best way to get a pair
What leather were the exclusives?
I have both, Redwings are made better. Especially the 1907
