    I now have nine of these EZ saws, 6 with the white sides 2 blue 1red sides, I got lucky and have collected some very nice homelites over the past couple of years. All together I have about 60saws, Half of my collection is Homelites, I am grateful for all the information you have provided to help me resolve the issues that can cause men to throw hands in the air and scream! At this point in the learning process, It's become very fun to bring these saws back to life one at a time. Leon, You are the guru of homelites in my book! Thank you my friend, And God bless you and your family 🤗

    I learned a lot man. I've got a 64 XL that I used when I was 11, first saw I ever used, and I'm also a 64 model. My Dad bought it used from my uncle. It served us well for years. It's been sitting for a long time, and my dad and uncle Walter have worked on it, and if you knew them, you'd know they can tear up an anvil with a rubber mallet. I put a kit in the carb, but I didn't know about the check valve, I don't think. Been awhile since I tried it. It run, but wouldn't either idle or throttle. I think I'm gonna replace the crank seals, as I'm sure they're original. Check the reeds, check my carb again. I've upgraded the ignition already. I'll be hitting you up as soon as firewood cutting season is over. I've got a 74 poulan 50+cc, like in Texas Chainsaw movie. A 77 micro, a Red small Homelite like the Micro. So I've got plenty, not counting working on upgrades on my Husky, Poulan 2450, PP 4418. I love old saws. Only my Husky and Pro are fairly new. I'll check you out on parts.

    Thanks I have been working on 2 super 2's. One is good and i am now sure the reeds are open on the other. New carb--- (rebuild) sealed good at intake and unfortunately only one carb adjustment . It runs ok full throttle and won't idle down .

    the ign.mod. doesn't rely on magnetism to switch the coil as much as volt change on polarity cross over from one polarity to the other as the magnet leaves the coil legs it induces the highest voltage, similar to the electronic coil. this allows timing change due to frequency change. usually better low speed spark. looking w terminals up, + is usually on the right side and can be a very small sign. pos . is normally used but some may use neg polarity.heat and vibrations are hard on semiconductors , secure firmly in coolest place .

    Dropping parts cane be dangerous, anywhere. I have three things that help me find them. On, Mark 1 eyeballs, a shop magnet and my metal detector. Yesterday, I was putting circlips in an Ms 460 and one went flying on my back deck. I heard it hit the cover on my big 36 inch Blackstone griddle, so I found it pretty fast. Then, I dropped it on the deck. Look as I may I could not see it and got my telescoping shop magnet and found it in no time.

    I use silicone grease to hold the reed valves in place when replacing them. It helps a lot and just disolves in gas in a few minutes.

    Hello. I have an Homelite XL Automatic chainsaw. Not used for years!!! I have finally got a spark after a thorough clean. Fuel line totally knackered. I am sure the carburettor is too. So, how do I determine which replacement carburettor repair kit do I require? The carburettor is an Tillotson. I can not see any other markings (other than Tillotson address) on the carburettor. There is a plastic information label of a sort on the side of the saw. Homelite-Terry. TEXTRON. UT No 10489. Serial No T8326121. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hey. I like your program. Just acquired an ez automatic. Runs good, but have to replace clutch. Does this clutch take springs? If so, where?

    The last shop I worked in had an ungodly amount of fone & window traffic. There were days when I literally never got any shop time. The boss wouldn't hire a parts man so in a shop that needed 4 mechanics we only had two. That's what happens when you've got people that don't understand what goes on in a shop. If it affects the store you're caught twixt the customer & the boss & you're expendable. Even went so far as to ask the boss to spend a few days in the shop to make our point, you guessed it, didn't wanna do it, too busy. Butted heads more than once, finally left only to be asked to come back after a month b/c the kids they hired were pathetic.

      1 thing always amazed me was a customer that thought it could've repaired & spend no $. Know what you're thinking, he meant any substantial amount. I've dealt with people that had no intention of paying anything. Now while shop labor is far higher than 30-50 years ago, it was the same back then. You always had someone at some point who would insist it won't take 5 minutes to fix. If that was so, why didn't they fix it? Usually no answer. We had a lot of people that squeaked when they walked.

    None of the local shops here will work on them.

    • @darrellpickering8535

      Most shops won't go the extra mile to fix an obsolete saw. You can wind up with a lot of time on the internet that a customer blalks at paying. Old story of wanting it fixed but don't spend any $. Hard to do!

    i understand why chainsaw owners send in those chainsaws to you for repair,they can be difficult to problem solve.

    The only problem I have found substituting a chip for a points set is connecting and mounting the chip set. The wiring connections become a real hassle.

    I make my own based on the Atom brown. Those other ones advance timing which cause engine to work harder and the modules don't last. Mine last very long time and have a diode to protect from voltage spikes

    • @mark-ht9ze
      @mark-ht9ze 3 года назад

      who makes a atom brown?

    • @Tysman909
      @Tysman909 3 года назад

      No one anymore atom was a company that made modules for different engines you can identify them by there colour. Brown was for chainsaws or gas trimmers

    • @Tysman909
      @Tysman909 3 года назад

      @@mark-ht9ze a guy on forum has released the parts needed and how to build your own electric modules based on the Atom he took them apart and got the measurements for the resistors to set the timing and the transistors to make it work just like the original atom modules :)
