The reason Konami keeps making broken cards without a "once per turn" clause is because when the founders created the company, they forgot to put the restriction "only create broken cards once per turn".
That was the thing with card design in early Yugioh. Once per turns were rare in the earliest history of the game likely because there was no need at the time. Then we got soft once per turns and the once per duel thing with Twin-Headed Behemoth which ended up becoming a rulings nightmare which resulted in an otherwise non-broken card getting Limited. They made Synchros broken as early on because they wanted to push the new game mechanic given how Fusions weren't really broken or even good as a whole for that matter except with Thousand-Eyes Restrict which was sorta broken with Metamorphosis and then Instant Fusion.

The card "Denglong, First of the Yang Zing" should've definitely been in this list. You can summon it with completely generic material and it can search an counter trap with Omni-Negate ability. And when Denglong leaves the field, you can summon a monster from your deck.
It was originally going to be in 10th place, but I thought Borreload Savage dragon was better. The omni negate it searches is only live while Genglong is on the field, and the card it summons from the deck on its death is only a yang zing monster, so you have to play a garnet outside of yangzing decks if you want its floating effect to be live. Its still good, but theres a reason its unlimited in the OCG with no problems.

You could cut tempest magician's spell counter requirement down if one of the spells in your gy was a previously activated magical blast, a card that inflicts burn damage for each spell caster you control and if you did go for the full Endymion pendulum package, would get you a head start on spell counters as it prepares to deal damage. If you control 2 pendulum scales, and 4 face up Spellcaster monsters including tempest magician you could take a decent chunk of your opponent's LP with this normal spell and have your field gain 2+ spell counters based on the kinds of cards on it. I run an ice barrier deck in RL and in master duel. And its solid, if you build it right you can almost always syncro/ half fill your field. Get 3 on the field and put out freezing chains and their extra deck has no effects on your ice barriers.
Somehow out of all the archetypes, ice barrier is the one who receives the most broken synchro monster lineup, while the main deck ice barriers can hardly afford to summon any of them consistently before their new support. Also pretty funny how the least broken ice barrier synchro, Gungnir, is actually the most useful in its own archetype. Self-bouncing does nothing for ice barrier and they can't afford the cost most of the time, so Dewloren and Brionac might as well not be ice barrier monsters, and Trishula is too hard to summon consistently for ice barrier. Gungnir can destroy 1 or 2 cards depending on how much resources you have and is not too hard to summon.
Always liked using cyber dragon + Junk Synchron + Dark Bug to make trishula. It was cool because either bug or junk worker to resurrect each other, and could also go into dark diviner on their own.
Makes me kinda sad, but also kinda happy, Dragunity didn't get a mention in the video; they're not super OP, but they can end matches quickly with the right setup and support. Plus, not a one of them is on the banlist, so that should say something...
I love how nearly all of the Ice Barrier synchro bosses are on this list. It gives weight to how the Ice Barriers were meant to keep these monsters locked up, or the world would end. Considering Ice Barriers don't have much going for them besides lore, I really like this.
There is one level 6 Synchro Monster that is even better than Goyo Guardian. As someone who has played both Synchro Cat and Kin-Tele-Undead I wonder which one it could be? You also forgot to mention another crucial part of T.G. Hyper Librarian that made it especially broken in the Synchro era. The card text states "when a Synchro Monster is summoned" so it's regardless of wether you summon it or your opponent summons a Synchro Monster on his field. When a Synchro Monster hits the field you get to draw a card
Random question as I’ve never been into competitive YGO and I haven’t played it since 2009. Can you use a pre-errata card in a tournament? Of course you would use the actual effect of the card, but can the physical card you use be older? Thanks
to add the to the other comment, if the card is pre errata or in rare cases like the astral utopia printing in a non standard in your place langauge you need the updated ccard text at hand
Because you either have to cheat it out or go through multiple steps to bring it out and for a monster negate that can run over anything that isn't a Link monster in battle.
10:21, do more Reaserch, Tempest Magician was in a Tier 0 Zombie FTK deck that utilizes Blue blooded oni to a bunch of consistent combos that caused a emergency banlist ... so she was big before that link.
There's definitely an argument to be had for Omega > Goyo but good list overall. Forgot to mention how abused DSF was in Blackwings too. Can you do top 10 XYZ's next?
Goyo guardian is fking crazy. 2800 atk for a level 6 plus that bonkers effect that completely negates graveyard effects, considering most decks play with their graveyard this is fking crazy.
9:45 "generally they don't give extra deck monsters good burn damage anymore" That caught me kind of off guard because the deck I use has some pretty damn good burn damage using extra deck monsters, but after comparing it to tempest magician it really didn't feel like much... my deck is a gem knight deck, so it's main purpose is to bring out a lady brilliant diamond so that she can pull all kinds of crazy shit from your extra deck, and the strat I use revolves around a certain monster's burn damage... gem knight lady lapis lazuli is a monster that can send 1 gem knight card from the main deck to the graveyard to inflict 500 burn damage for every special summoned monster on the field, with the caviat of being 1 summon per turn only. But there is another card that can banish fusion monsters from the graveyard to copy their effects. So there have been times when I got 2 lady brilliant diamonds and 2 lazulis on the field, did 4000 burn damage minimum with both lazulis, then used both brilliant diamonds to bring out two master diamonds with the lady lazulis, banished them and did another 4000 damage. You obviously have to get pretty lucky, and this takes two turns AT LEAST, but it's still some pretty good burn damage...
Gem knight ftk was a somewhat viable ftk until block dragon and brilliant fusion were hit, although brilliant fusion had many more reasons to get banned
@@andrejv.2834 yeah brilliant fusion is kinda fucked up... in gem knight decks it allows you to build up an entire board for free, potentially. And in any other deck, it can be used like a better Double summon and allow you to start of combos for fucking free lmao. That card deserves to be limited.
I am reminded of how, when I tried to get into the game during the early XYZ era, one of the first decks I tried to make was an Aztec deck, with Supay and Ascator and all that jazz. Having the overall engine, naturally I looked for decent other monsters I could synchro-summon with it. And it was kinda lame and disheartening to find out that, nine times out of ten, the right choice was to just summon Brionac rather than do what the deck was actually supposed to do. ...and then, a few months later, Brionac got banned. Good riddance. 😂
Cards which would be much better if they just had better stats Like how Goyo Guardian was OP because he had a good stat line to match his effect, but instead cards whose stats don’t play well with their effects
Many of banned cards could be fixed with a general rule change: you may only special summon once per phase. It would be a fundamental change to the game that may or may not improve playability, but ir's worth a test.
One special summon per phase would completely change the game. It would effectively slow the game down to the point where it feels like GOAT era all over again where normal summons are the integral play. I don't think it's viable at all
@ismailshtewi8560 I've not played since the playground, so I've no dog in the fight. I just see what appears to be unbounded creep that renders something like 80% of cards unplayable in a competitive setting today. There will come a point where either the game suffocates under increasingly heavy rulings and banlists, has too many reliable zero-turn win decks to be playable, or has to do a hard reset. This would be a latter move.

It was stupid good back then, but today it's kinda hard to make it stick with so many omninegates in turn 1
I am a synchro fan and was looking forward to this video
Excellent video- very entertaining to watch. Suggestion box: Top 10 Field Spells
Never forget when I was 12 and I pulled Borreload Savage. Im 16 and still got it even tho im not super in the game no more
Always liked using cyber dragon + Junk Synchron + Dark Bug to make trishula. It was cool because either bug or junk worker to resurrect each other, and could also go into dark diviner on their own.
I used ancient fairy dragon quite a lot, at first as a psychic deck counter, but later as an additional terraforming for dragon ravine
Are you going to do a top 10 series of all extra deck monsters?
My favourite Synchro monsters are the "White Aura" water monsters. White Aura Whale is awesome.
Last time I was this early my teacher thought I was trying to butter him up cuz I forgot my homework or something.
For a Deck that got next to no play throughout History. The Ice Barriers sure did have useful Sync monsters. I still have them all
5:30 that monster is for Pneuma from Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Makes me kinda sad, but also kinda happy, Dragunity didn't get a mention in the video; they're not super OP, but they can end matches quickly with the right setup and support. Plus, not a one of them is on the banlist, so that should say something...
Old school Dark Stike Fighter is IMHO the strongest card ever.
Me, hears 'Dewloren': *gets Elemental Lords flashbacks*
Also, is there a video of the longest time a card has been banned?
I love how nearly all of the Ice Barrier synchro bosses are on this list. It gives weight to how the Ice Barriers were meant to keep these monsters locked up, or the world would end. Considering Ice Barriers don't have much going for them besides lore, I really like this.
It's impressive that we haven't had this top before
hey, im new to your channel could you do some top 10 tournament plays or tournament decks. explaining how the deck works or how the play was impactful
10:00 STILL waiting for that hand trap that inflicts burn damage. Just to prove you can win a duel without knowing what the rest of your deck does ;)
A top 10 of the best generic non-tuner main deck synchro-materials would be a great topic. But I think it would need some restrictions...
Random question as I’ve never been into competitive YGO and I haven’t played it since 2009. Can you use a pre-errata card in a tournament? Of course you would use the actual effect of the card, but can the physical card you use be older? Thanks
Yes, you are allowed to use the Card even if it was printed pre-errata, aslong as you use its corrected effect.
to add the to the other comment, if the card is pre errata or in rare cases like the astral utopia printing in a non standard in your place langauge you need the updated ccard text at hand
11:30 **Gear town intensifies**
I'm honestly surprised that Crystal Wing isn't here
Because you either have to cheat it out or go through multiple steps to bring it out and for a monster negate that can run over anything that isn't a Link monster in battle.
I would say omega is better than the pre errata goyo
@@Sillimant_ You're honestly probably not wrong. If it was at 3, I would probably still play Pend Mags just to rip 3 turn 1.
Hope you feel better. Sending good vibes mother spider 🕸️🕸️🕸️
Librarian plus Tempest was nice
Please make a top 10 worst positive effects and also a top 10 best and worst cards that sends from deck to graveyard.
Top 10 Most Higher ATK monsters for they level, example Meklord Emperor Wisel.
Level 1 with 2500 ATK is hilarious honestly.
Game lowest level and protagonist ace card ATK stats, pretty funny tbh.
Love having Dark Mirror Force, Quaking Mirror Force, Storming Mirror Force, Drowning Mirror Force, Radiant Mirror Force, Blazing Mirror Force, Mirror Force, Mirror Force Launcher. Think thats all the mirror forces lol
I ran ancient fairy dragon when it came out in a water deck. It was very good.
I missed those days where brionac and trishula is still not banned. I always put them on my X-Saber deck back then.
I hope there will be a top 10 best xyz monsters of all time and fusions too. lol
He did the best fusion monsters of all time:)
Honor mention to Catastor, one of the best synchos at the beginning of the synchro era
yep it walled a lot of monsters
I know your voice from somewhere, did you do WoW Guides or Lore Videos at some point?
You should do the best monster of each level
Baronne de Fleur needs to be in a remake of this video u.u
True
Goyo guardian is fking crazy. 2800 atk for a level 6 plus that bonkers effect that completely negates graveyard effects, considering most decks play with their graveyard this is fking crazy.
9:45 "generally they don't give extra deck monsters good burn damage anymore"
That caught me kind of off guard because the deck I use has some pretty damn good burn damage using extra deck monsters, but after comparing it to tempest magician it really didn't feel like much... my deck is a gem knight deck, so it's main purpose is to bring out a lady brilliant diamond so that she can pull all kinds of crazy shit from your extra deck, and the strat I use revolves around a certain monster's burn damage... gem knight lady lapis lazuli is a monster that can send 1 gem knight card from the main deck to the graveyard to inflict 500 burn damage for every special summoned monster on the field, with the caviat of being 1 summon per turn only.
The fact that I just realized I have Brionac😅
PsyFrame Lord Omega gets no mention.
Don't sleep on Ancient City Rainbow Ruins. That gx field spell is pretty good
It was good but Crystal Beasts really weren't.
Brionic is a duel link staple
Ib can be summoned with Halq/Needle's effect.
Cards which would be much better if they just had better stats
Like how Goyo Guardian was OP because he had a good stat line to match his effect, but instead cards whose stats don’t play well with their effects
Many of banned cards could be fixed with a general rule change: you may only special summon once per phase.
It would be a fundamental change to the game that may or may not improve playability, but ir's worth a test.
just like that you made negation even more OP , with limited summons makes losing any of them much more impactfull especially when going 2nd.
Well well IB just got unbanned in the tcg lol. Crazy
