Such a shame appointer of the red lotus doesnt't see as much play anymore. I loved using it as a one of to replace trap dustshoot, especially since it doesn't have the same downside as it.
Again: Treeborn Frog's errata to a *soft* once per turn only matters if the effect gets negated. It can still be used multiple times a turn if you have a spell speed 2 or higher tribute effect or a trigger effect that puts it back in the GY like topologic bomber dragon. The errata was to put it in line with rulings from Frog-Monarch days. People thought you could only Solemn Judgment the tribute summon but the same effect would work with using Solemn on Treeborn
Smoke Grenade of the Thief was played even before. Around when RotA was released. You could trigger its effect with Gearfried the Iron Knight who automatically destroys all Equip Cards that are attached to him. This triggers Smoke Grenade and saw niche play. But I cant for the love of god find the source, Ive read about it years ago. Still wanted to tell it though, so just take it with a grain of salt.
And the only place where "Neo Spacian Aqua Dolphin" is good is in the trash can... As far away from my deck as possible to make sure it's uselessness doesn't somehow rub off on my kick ass cards!
Top 10 Archetypes focused on specific normal monsters. (That most or all his cards and plays are dependant on it) Like Neos, Dark Magician, Ojamas, Genex, etc.
Samsara lotus was the only yubel support card ever printed (the point of the end phase respawn is you'd immediately tribute it to maintain yubel preventing your opponent from using most responses to stop it)
I wouldn’t say Galaxy Tomohawk lasted until close to the master rule revision, it only lasted 1 banlist longer than Firewall Dragon did if I remember correctly. That’s more than a full year of MR4 pre-revision where it was banned
Smoke grenade has seens some play when it came out. In goat format (2004) there was a deck that used gearfried the iron knight, which effect can be used to abuse smoke grenade The deck was good, so the card has seen competitive deck before 2020
Alex Mercer it still won’t actually be good, it’s like playing the cheerful coffin in darkworlds because it triggers their effects while giving yourself a big minus, pot of avarice would be significantly better
That would be hilarious! Maybe make an archetype that allows you to plus extremely hard when you shuffle your cards back into the deck? Problem is that PoGen is still a huge brick that is completely useless on it's own.
Top 10 list idea: Top 10 Number monsters since OCG planned to release a Number Collection Wow I knew Smoke Grenade became good now after all these years, but I realized it hasn't had any recent reprints. I was looking at and was confused about the way it's written compared to today's PSCT. It doesn't need much changing though. It's pretty clear on what it does.
Phoenixian Cluster FTK was definitely possible in the TCG before it got banned. Sylvans had a relatively easy time making Topologic and getting 10 plants in GY. Why it wasn't seen as much in the TCG was we didn't have Aromaseraphy Jasmine like the OCG did which makes set up SO MUCH easier.
We can already guess that four certain banned number cards would be on a high spot. Rhongomyniad, Shock Master, Galaxy Tomahawk and Galaxy Eyes Dark Matter Dragon. If we include number S0, then we already know half of the top 10 list
You forgot to mention Red lotus also got more popular because of ruling revisions. Don't remember when, but it was no longer possible to check the hand if the card didn't say it so cards like Mind Crush stopped seeing play.
I would like to see top 10 cards with unique effects no other cards have. A great example: Lost World being able to destroy a monster from deck, which no other card in the game can do.
Ill add to your example, time thief redoer equipping card from the top of your opponent's deck and negalogia AA zeus equipping cards to it from your deck or extra deck as xyz material.
I'm surprised when he was talking about Neptune he didn't also mention that it wasn't the only card banned because of Nightingale, since in nearly every other video he's mentioned Neptune he almost always mentions Suprieme King Starving Venom too.
I was honestly wondering what would beat out Grinder Golem, but then I remembered Tyrant "You Die In Two Turns" Neptune was a thing. It sucks that at a lot of the time I come up with a good idea that I haven't suggested before, I'll come up with it days after a new video comes out. Not that anyone ever notices any of my suggestions...

this is pretty much an updated version of a list he already did a year ago ;) and tbf Metaverse before Mystic Mine was good at stunning the Graveyard by bringing out Necrovalley
There is a lot of bad card when they released and eventually become good.Metaverse is one of them but other cards in this list much more splashable and much easier to win than annoying mystic mine burn that can be interrupt by single Black winged dragon from a madman who put it in extra deck for that reason
@@KaoruMzk Basically this. What Metaverse does is good, it's just not as good as Terraforming. Actually, that should be a list. Cards that are good, but never saw play for one reason or another.
I'm actually really sad they banned Grinder Golem because I USED IT pre-link-monsters in a board-maniplulation/burn-damage/self-heal deck. Was the deck good? No, it would more often than not end me losing or a draw. But being able to combo it with Creature Swap, Magic Cylinder, & others I can't recall the names of was super fun! Alas, now it's gone so I can't use do any of those shenanigans anymore.
I love Appointer, I just find it funny that it’s a worse version of a worse version of a worse version of a card and it still sees play. I also just like the art, can’t explain why.
Bad players just need to stop crying like pussies and build a better deck! Bad players DESERVE to lose to those combos because they built a loser's deck!
Self-Destruct Button isn't good - it's only banned because Konami couldn't be assed to deal with the rulings concerning people surrendering before the effect carried out, much like Victory Dragon.
Royal Oppression/Vanity's Emptiness/Vanity's Fiend/Rivalry of Warlords/Summon Limit: Anti Special Summon floodgates that didn't see play until years after they came out. Anti-Spell Fragrance: Didn't see any play whatsoever until 2013, and even then it was only played it Harpies. It didn't see significant play until Pendulums. Solemn Judgment: Technically, this DID see play when it first came out, but saw no play after Pharaonic Guardian came out until Ring of Destruction finally got banned many years later, because paying half your LP was considered a liability when (pre-errata) Ring was legal. Giant Trunade/Cold Wave: Saw no play when they first came out, as they were just considered bad Heavy Storms. However, when the game got faster and OTKs became much more prevalent, they became staple cards that eventually got banned. Dimension Fusion/Return from the Different Dimension: Saw no play until the release of Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade. Speaking of which... Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade: Like Solemn Judgment, this DID see play when it first came out, but fell off the face of the earth when Dimension Fusion and Magical Stone Excavation got limited in 2007. Didn't see play ever again until 2018.
Gearfried the iron knight can activate smoke grenade because it destroys equip cards that are equipped to it right but it’s a very mediocre 1800 attack beat stick
Gearfried can also endlessly destroy butterfly dagger elma to give endless amounts of counters to royal magical library so you can draw exodia. Elma is, of course, banned.
Feels like they just broke the game by making it easier and easier to go into Extra Deck monsters. Fusions and Synchros had extremely restrictive summoning requirements. XYZ was easier but at least specified specific levels. Links just say "2 monsters, wolololo go crazy" and then people are surprised when it breaks a whole bunch of cards that clearly were not designed to interact with modern-day overpowered and unrestricted nonsense.
The funny thing is, Samsara Lotus and Grinder Golem were both cards invented by the anime to brute-force shitty Yubel into some semblance of viability.
When I saw place 10, I thought they added a card that makes the player immune to instant loss-effects or something(Like anime relay soul). Glad that it is just here for the trolling when you fail to get your own instant win.
Imo links were a mistake. I know everyone likes to hate on the new mechanic but I started playing around synchro. I didn’t have a problem with xyz yea they were broken but it was new and it didn’t make synchros worse synchros kept up with XYZ just fine. Pendulums everyone hated but I liked them maybe because as soon as they came out I played Pend Magician. But Links are just synchros except you ain’t gotta count and you can use any monster for it (don’t need tuners) When I first saw Link I initially thought “Sooo Synchros with no math.... or tuners ok”. I love how links were made to balance the game and slow it down. Hilarious

@@nassirjackson9038 Exactly. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and pretend that I don't religiously use a few of them. Verte Anaconda and Halqifibrax especially are incredible to work with. BUT, the concept of Link summoning as a whole was an extraordinarily stupid implementation into the franchise. You get to use monsters that are on average, on par with or far better than most monsters of the other mechanics, but their summoning conditions are _ridiculous._ Either they have no specific requirements whatsoever and just need a certain number of monsters, or they need Effect monsters, or monsters with different names. Whichever way you look at it, this is absolute BS. Some have tighter restrictions, like needing monsters of a specific type, but the majority don't. It completely ruined the balance of the game, and clearly Konami doesn't have any plans to fix the actual problems it has caused. They literally haven't even done anything to Mystic Mine, despite the fact that it _completely defeats the entire point of the game._ Whoever is in charge of Konami need to piss off and let people with actual sense do the job.

don't know very much about new meta but.... 1) smoke grenade of thief was good with gearfried and playable at high level in goat format... 2) self destruction was already playable in last turn deck 3) grinder golem was in a deck that topped at a shonen (2008, 2009???) with brainwashing, lava golem and maybe volcanic queen too... so you could have put in a little more effort :D
Well yea but that's a deck that only ever came about because of experimentation with goat format as a legacy format. nobody was playing gearfried control in 2005
Hey, I don't know if anybody else has caught this yet, but I was really confused when you got to number 9. You must have accidentally used the anime effect for Aqua Dolphin. If it had the effect that was on the image you used, it would have seen play much sooner than it did, lol.
What's it's effect again? "Upon opening your booster pack and seeing this piece of fecal matter, immediately send it to the trash can and do not let it anywhere near your deck or else you lose the duel." Something like that. I don't remember the exact wording but that was pretty much the jist of it! Most of the cards in the game have that effect so I'm pretty sure this is one of them!
Only a shitty duelist would know that! Good duelists read it once, laughed about it, threw it in the garbage, and completely forgot about it! You must lose an awful lot of games if you can still remember what that worthless card does!
I wonder what the implications would be if Self Destruct Button had an errata that specified that the duel doesn't end due to a player having 0 LP until the end of the turn that the card was activated. Could make an interesting strategy where LP gain cards can give a win condition for the user of self destruct button, losing if the opponent gains life points while attempting to force a tie, or an even match where both players end up having a small pool of LP if both players have a card that can get them back up above 0 LP before the end of the turn.

Such a shame appointer of the red lotus doesnt't see as much play anymore. I loved using it as a one of to replace trap dustshoot, especially since it doesn't have the same downside as it.
9:43 it is basically a sitting Target for your opponent.
Man, You did it again!
What
Smoke Grenade of the Thief was played even before.

Only way I see that card being good is if we get an archetype that trigger powerful effects when they get shuffled.
Alex Mercer it still won’t actually be good, it’s like playing the cheerful coffin in darkworlds because it triggers their effects while giving yourself a big minus, pot of avarice would be significantly better

Top 10 list idea: Top 10 Number monsters since OCG planned to release a Number Collection
Wow I knew Smoke Grenade became good now after all these years, but I realized it hasn't had any recent reprints.
I’m gonna wait till he does top 10 number cards
Especially when OCG announced Number C1000 Numeronius is on its way. (Around Spring 2021)
Apparently back in ~04 whereabouts, there was a deck that topped using gearfried the iron knight, smoke grenade, and blast with chain for control
Hand control with Gearfried and smoke grenade is sweet in Goat format.

Damn, Smoke Grenade of the Thief sounds like my friend who's a bottom.
Fot every modern broken cards there are equal restricted fair cards
The funny thing is, Samsara Lotus and Grinder Golem were both cards invented by the anime to brute-force shitty Yubel into some semblance of viability.
When I saw place 10, I thought they added a card that makes the player immune to instant loss-effects or something(Like anime relay soul). Glad that it is just here for the trolling when you fail to get your own instant win.

What the fuck is up with Aqua Dolphins effect on the immage you used for the video?
Who else though this video would mention Mushroom Man #2 before realizing how old it is?
A solid chunk of this list is just cards that get broken by Link Summoning. Huh.
Hilarious
@@chaddoom7993 the most convuluted? Are you sure we are playing the same game? @@nassirjackson9038 Exactly. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and pretend that I don't religiously use a few of them. Verte Anaconda and Halqifibrax especially are incredible to work with. BUT, the concept of Link summoning as a whole was an extraordinarily stupid implementation into the franchise.
You get to use monsters that are on average, on par with or far better than most monsters of the other mechanics, but their summoning conditions are _ridiculous._
Either they have no specific requirements whatsoever and just need a certain number of monsters, or they need Effect monsters, or monsters with different names.
