My dad worked for George Barris and helped make those cars. He helped build the Pink Panther car and a few others. I have pictures of some of them from along time ago. He was a painter and custom car builder and boat builder,my dad.
cool, this dragster was the coolest thing on tv in the 1960s. my brothers and i would run to the tv just by hearing the horsepower of that engine. my brothers have since passed on, but it bring back good memories of my family life.
@@LifeLongMETALHead83 not entirely unsold on it yet but why the heck did they make Herman's voice crack so much?? I mean I guess since its supposed to be the story of herman and lily meeting it makes sense for him to sound younger but idk the voice cracking is not herman munster to me
"I couldn't help it, you look so natural sitting in that box." Always will be one of my favorite lines from this episode. Especially loved it when it was actually used in House of 1000 Corpses
Wouldn't it be great if we could turn the hands of time back 50...60 yrs....I would love to go back see my dad and be by his side as he would race....I miss you dad.
lol Herman’s laugh is so hilarious and somehow infectious. I really like how he goes along with Grandpa no matter what. It shows they trust each other a lot. Also Lily being clueless when scaring the guy off his seat is so funny
This is my favorite episode! I used to go to the drags a lot during the early 1960s. I miss those slingshots/rails. I remember building models of The Munster Koach and Drag-u-la (thank you AMT). THANKS for posting this!
Love this episode since I first saw as a kid. When Herman saves Grandpa's life in that fast motion way. I still crack up laughing. Great show The Musters were.
My Favorite episode of the entire series! I've loved the Munsters Koach & Dragula as a kid and have collected numerous different Johnny Lightning models of them over the last several years.
Looking down on my diecast collection of Barris hot rods, which includes the Munster Koach and Dragula, now I have this video of the drag race to win back the Koach! Must be one of the coolest drag races I had ever seen!
Mrs Addam was far better actress. Her eyes convey everything. Carolyn Jones is partially responsible for the modern Sitcom. She married Aaron spelling when he was a nobody, but supported his work, I think even after their divorce. But beyond her, I didn't appreciate Addams family over the Munsters. But Addams seem to hold up better over time.
I grew up watching this show on TV land with my parents. I don't even know if that channel is around anymore but I'm glad I was raised with this stuff, even though I wasn't from the same generation
I couldn’t even tell you what show on that channel was my favorite. There were so many great sitcoms back then; everything from The Munsters and I Love Lucy, to Sanford and Son and All in the Family. I probably watched more TV Land than Nickelodeon as a kid.
I was listening to the radio yesterday and they had a quiz and one of the questions were what is your favorite TV program and straight away I thought of the Musters.
Went to a classic car show tonight in Asbury Park NJ & this hotrod was there. Original & not a remake. Took many pictures. Amazing. Has to be worth a mill
Wow I love this episode. Grandpa looked funny in the goggles! Marilyn and Lily are beautiful as always and Herman is a big goofy fun-loving guy, haha!!! Oh and I LOVE the drag racing and hopped up cars, ala '60's style gassers.
The Munsters was the best and really created laughs about all our typical human traits and just made it fun. There were a lot of lessons learned by many during the time show like this were on TV. It's not the same now.
This was about as funny as when Jethro built a hotrod truck on the Beverley Hillbillies and granny got mad and wanted the old truck back, then raced Jethro with the old truck filled up with her moonshine.
This was one of my favorite episodes along with Eddies go cart. Must have had quite a setup in that garage. Wonder where grandpa procured that 289 with dual four barrels.
One fateful day a young boy watched this episode and it changed his life, and by extension the lives of countless others to come. That young man's name was Robert Zombie
I remember years ago a guy drove thru our local forest preserve in his rendition of Dragula. Not exactly the same but it was a 2-seater and he could shoot flames out the exhaust. Seriously the whole place lined up along the road as he drove through with a s--t eating grin on his face. Never saw it after that.
Almost every scene, that was grandpas stunt double sitting in the car, even as he pulls it out of the garage. After the bet, Herman walks away with the stunt double.
I absolutely adore the munsters. These two vehicles are goth car icons. This show is a fundamental must for any goths journey. If you don't like the munsters, you probably aren't goth. Truly, I do look forward to watching this entire series again someday, hopefully I can enjoy cannabis during as well. I should have done that already.
One of my favorite lines is when Herman asked Grandpa "Your not going to try to talk me into shooting myself again?" When I was a kid this was one of my favorites and a true classic episode.
So great. I also love how much Herman's outfit looks so different now in modern times. Impossible to see him as anything other than a leather daddy in that getup.
Al Lewis and Fred Gwynn, one of the greatest duos...the idea of an ornery scheming vampire that smokes cigars is hilarious.
CAR 54 Where Are You ?
Greaser Grampa
I remember watching that ,when it was new! It's still funny.
Car 54 where are yo
Well he is an undead vampire so why not smoke a few cigars.
My dad worked for George Barris and helped make those cars. He helped build the Pink Panther car and a few others. I have pictures of some of them from along time ago. He was a painter and custom car builder and boat builder,my dad.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
You should have continued his legacy , I’m sure he would have loved you following in his shoes

Did George Barris build the 1960s batmobile?
I can see where Rob Zombie got his inspiration to write his song "Dragula"😁
I was just thinking the same thing.
@Russell Collier Unfortunately the trailer is out and it looks terrible
@@LifeLongMETALHead83 not entirely unsold on it yet but why the heck did they make Herman's voice crack so much??

Yeah!!! Lol I had no idea until today that he has a Made a munsters movie that’s being realised this month!
@Russell Collier it’s being released straight to dvd so that’s saying something
"I couldn't help it, you look so natural sitting in that box." Always will be one of my favorite lines from this episode. Especially loved it when it was actually used in House of 1000 Corpses
Fred Gwynn was a national treasure.
Yes he was but in an interview I saw of him.He said he was embarrassed and regretted playing,"Herman"
@@markrunyon5524 he didn't like the makeup process but he did love the show and character
Till Lindemann looks exactly like him lol
The yutes?
He was great in pet Sematary
Herman Munster, the world's oldest teenager lol
Loved Hermie. Mature yet innocent. Not a mean bone in his huge body. Wonderful show...Wonderful times.
"It's not playing the game. It's winning that counts!"
Wise words.
Oh how so many have forgotten that simple fact.
Grandpa quoting Sonny Liston is great
This is one of the best episodes of the munsters ever put on this channel like if you agree
Its one of my favourites
❤ this 👹 monster episode , my favorite
Wish the whole thing would come out in its entirety. I used to think The Coach & Dragula were the coolest cars ever!
100%
apparently they built lilly a car but it was never seen on screen...would love to know what happened to it

@@Dora-hi2nw yes. It’s nice
almost forgot about Lily's coffin liner cape!!! I loved how the Musters show was put together and the attention to details.

I remember watching this show with my father when I was I kid.......I sure miss that man!!
Dang! That was fun! These were the best times in growing up!
grandpa was funny and he added a lot to the show. very talented writing and acting.
Amen to that
Absolutely 💯percent

So true Paul !!
Good one. Quick with it.
When I was a kid hearing that theme song, I would come running into the living room. Dang those were good times.
Me too
Wow this brings back so many memories of my childhood. When times were simple and family values mattered.
This is absolute gold.
I love Hermans laugh.
If only we could all go back to those innocent magical times...
Innocent...magical????

Who could dislike this? These are the classic shows that made early TV.
This really puts me in the mood to dig through the ditches and burn through the witches!
Omg 😂😂
Yea!!!
🤘😈👍
This is my favorite because of the cool cars , but also they are a cool family 😀
You see Herman comes in handy for everything including as the brakes
This is a timeless show. Great values, never to be repeated on network TV! I loved it in 1966 and I love it today!!

"Grandpa you forgot your...parachute." 😂😂😂 Thank you for the morning laugh!!
Al Lewis was a baseball scout. Talked to him many times at colleg games in the stands

Coming from a drag racing family this was the best Munster's episode made! 🔥 😎👍
I like how Lily's face frightened people back then but nowadays that's how normal goth girls look 😆
Right? Lily was beautiful.
I like how nobody liked the normal blonde. Kinda like today.
Lily makes the current crop of Goth girls look amateurish
Idk. Lily is gorgeous
Except with pink hair, tats, and piercings.
I am more an Addams Family fan but this is one of my favorite episodes of the Munsters.
@Cameron Hall it’s about a tie for me, I love both for different reasons,. I just love “spooky camp”..
Mrs Addam was far better actress. Her eyes convey everything.

It still holds up after all these years. 🎥
Thank goodness the app Peacock has all of the episodes of "The Munsters", cos whenever I see this I feel like I have to watch more.

Those aren’t gassers. Gassers are straight axled stick body cars.
They were the best times for television The ninety-nine sixties. Great Times.
