  • From their 1980 Park West concert recorded live for PBS' Soundstage. Unlike the "You Can..." included in my previous post, this is of good quality. What makes this performance unique is, unlike the album cut from their self-named album, the solo performances are scatted by Tim and Janis vs. the worded version from the album and the mix from the early clip I had posted here. This one also features the (in)famous "clapping hands" as discussed a few years back on the manhattan transfer group (mantrans) on YahooGroups. Enjoy

This is the very first Man Tran video I ever saw. I watched it with my father when I was 15 years old. He passed away when I was 19. That was in 1983. I can't tell you how much it means to find this video. Thank you so much for having it posted.

They now call this vocalese but they are actually Bebop singers/Scat is just musical voice intepretation ususlly brass, horns, bass and qutair. Bebop songs are actually lyrics. Manhattan Transfer does both

Interesting. This is from their second album and orginally there were lyrics to the scat parts. Kinda miss them here.
But hey, they are vocal perfection so I aint complainin'
