I think The Boys and Invincible in MK is more of an achievement than people realize.
Both of their HQs were left in the sidelines for years while DC and Marvel thrived. Then the shows happened and now they somehow became mainstream enough that they take a center space in a MK pack lineup. It's wild.
Also, petition for Max and the boys to watch Invincible kkkk 😆😆 It's honestly an amazing show.

yeah to be honest I felt like we were starting to feel burned out towards Marvel and DC even though they were released somewhere during the beginning of it. (even I was feeling a little burned out a few months ago the spider that I have plans to watch beyond the spider verse good movie by the way and also how I felt to watch Western media particularly animation and sometimes live action but that's a story for another day it always feels like a one-sided argument to me)
although I would say invincible was popular among comic book fans despite image nowadays more focusing on anything but superheroes while I would say the boys wasn't that favorable until the TV show stuff at least makes it more interesting
You know what? The gory parts cutting to just Max's face makes me really appreciate some voice actors really pouring it on to make shocked and appalled horrific sounds, and some incredible foley work.

He was always brutal and fast, his movesets just changed from MK11, so not sure what all the shock and amazement is, his moves are just as quick in MK11.
I don’t think people realize, but the gameplay contrast between Homelander and Omni Man is gonna be amazing! One who’s more grounded and street level whereas the other one is more over the top and experience.
Yeah, people can hate on there being two "evil supermen" all they want, but just wait till they're both out, they are gonna be SUPER different gameplay-wise from one another.

also homelander significantly relies more on his other powers compared to omni man. hell he relies more on them then even superman dos. hes called a lazy fighter for a reason after all
while omni man will use anything in a fight. he will grab a weapon, throw things at you, use bombs, blast you into things or let them hit you all just to win

I hope that the way they make Homelander and Omniman play differently is that Omniman is 100% oppressive rushdown, and Homelander is a zoner, relying primarily on his laser eyes to carry him. Seems thematically accurate for both of them.
Edit: Also I am VERY aware of the horrors of another superman eye laser character in an NRS game. Not thrilled for it, but it would be in-character for him.
That's what my brother and I were saying, and seems great for their characters too. Omni man is trained warrior, homelander is a bully. I do hope homelander has a little rushdown, bc I plan to main him

Also the Tarkatans are now considered victims of a disease rather than a separate species. This rewrites Mileena's story to being Kitana's twin sister but instead of being created, she became infected with what has been plaguing Tarkatans. Hopefully down the lines, they can find a cure and that possibly means Human Baraka.
Something I thought of recently with all this:
That Mileena and Kitana are twin rulers of Outworld, and their shared sisterhood and love together, was clearly Kitana's wish at the end of MK11. Liu Kang and Kitana went off to rewrite the timeline, and Kitana had a hand in this.
This was it. Meaning she wanted some closure with her sister. She felt compassion and empathy for the Mileena she knew.
@@HuxtableK The only strange thing is Liu Kang keeping Mileena's Tarkatan mutation although it is rewritten to be a disease. Storywise, it wouldn't make sense to keep Mileena's mutation unless Kitana requested it. Although it just could be something that can't change as despite the new timeline where everyone is pretty much allies, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi are still present meaning Liu Kang had enough sympathy to not fully erase them.
It does feel like Netherrealm has been trying to steer many of the different color-swapped ninjas away from being a ninja.
Like Ermac being a mystical mummy, or Reptile just being a lizard man. The only two characters who will always remain, ninjas, are Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Everyone else who's ever worn a ninja mask is getting redesigned to be maskless and ninjaless.
I was saying this on twitter. Even with Sub Zero they tried to differentiate with the Samurai Armor one time
It also looks like in this "reset canon" they merged the Shirai-Ryu and Lin Kuei into one clan, which is kinda lame

Go watch the Lin Kuei reveal trailer (the reveal trailer has Liu Kang explicitly call sub and scorp "brothers" as he's describing the new world he built) scorpion puts a hand on Smoke's shoulder and says "we aren't bound by blood but we are brothers" anc Rain calls all 3 (Sub, Smoke, and Scorp) the Lin Kuei, and Subzero says "the flames of the Lin kuei can't be so easily smothered"
That plus the Outworld factions seemingly merging (all outworld women are either Umagi or royalty now) tells me shits SIGNIFICANTLY different. Like it seems Kung Lao is now an edenian/Outworlder (he was in what seemed to be storymode cutscenes with Rain who then uses him as a Kameo)
Also they never say Hanzo, Shira-ryu, or even Scorpion in the trailers specifically.
The good thing about omni man and homelander is while at a glance they look alike. Homelander has heat vision and isnt super technical he just kinda overwhelms and blasts with his eyes. While omniman is brutal in a different way. I can definitely see omni man being rush down with brutal command grabs and homelander zoning and crazy Aerials
Heck yeah the home lander is kinda bad at fighting he just has raw force so him being kind of a keep away zoner makes sense, and omni-man is so brutal and used to being right in someone’s face he’s definitely gonna be some kind of grapple based in your face tank. Also if he doesn’t get an invincible color variation we riot 😂

Personally I want one of omni man’s fatalities to be a reference to his very first kill in the series (the one where he kills budget flash). It’s probably not gonna be the first choice but for me it’s one of the most iconic moments in any first episode

They also confirmed he would be voiced by J.K himself and not an impersonator. I personally think he'll definitely have the head crush along with the gut punch into head slice.

I’m interested by the Peacemaker pick. The other two guests definitely makes sense. All 3 of these characters returning are nice especially Takeda. He was my main in MKX too and I have never been more happy to see him back
It's what's most popular at the time of making them, Invincible, The Boys, and for DC movie/series characters that would be fine getting fatalitied Peacemaker makes the most sense.
Probably to fit the whole theme of fake superheroes who are excessive

As an Ermac main during my brief dip into MK9, I excused it in MKX because his default is literally just his godlike alternate in 9 without the mask, but this?
We had such a good design tease in 11 that was probably a scrapped "ermac works for kronika" plot, but they tossed it and brought back the fatherless raisin.
Also, I love how Liu Kang said the battle between good and evil is eternal, and then Ermac is the second nicest guy there.
MK9 Ermac was perfect, he looked mysterious and intimidating, as he should be.

Its really helps that they did more polish for the animations than the previous games

Also helps explain why he works best in Mortal Kombat as opposed to Injustice. Same goes for Homelander.

I remember when the first MK11 kombat pack was released, Joker looked really *weird* and a lot of people complained. Then when the character trailer later dropped, he had gone through a significant makeover, and looked WAY better.
So I wouldn’t be surprised if Ermac (and possibly other characters) looks way different by the time he’s released.
I'd like it if they changed Omni man's costume to look more like a uniform and not spray on latex, but everybody else seems really happy with the design

It's so cool to see a dlc lineup with Omni man, Homelander, and Peacemaker. Makes me think the theming of this dlc will be comics. It's so cool to see these once unknown characters get center stage in a fighting game. And little things like Peacemaker specifically being modeled after the John Cena version. Wonder if he'll voice act the character also.

I like that they’re making Baraka as a mutant here rather than a born race. It’s an awesome concept where Mileena’s own Tarkatan mutation is a virus.
I mean i wouldnt call him a mutant bc he is afflicted with a disease but the forearm blades could be a mutation due to the disease

A terrible concept on paper, but theyre executing it right so whatever. I was hoping he was a preliminary carrier of Tarkat, kind of like that MF from The Strain.
Im assuming in story Mileena is gonna perhaps get some sort of lesser dose or they stop it from spreading across her body. But it doesn't make sense her mouth is different from the rest as we saw at Kombat Cast. But I am curious if perhaps they dont stop it if in this timeline in the later games Mileena will get the arm blades and be a playable female Tarkatan
@iankevinsevilla I mean its obvious they have the same disease but i think Baraka had it longer since he seems to know alot about the disease while Mileena prob got it a little before the beginning of the story

Seeing Darrius as a kameo character is probably the most shocking thing about the trailer. Next they’ll probably do Kobra, Hsu Hao, or Jarek as kameos.

Something to note about Edenians is they normally need weapons to do magic through, with Sindel being an outlier since she's stupid strong. Li Mei doing magic stuff without a weapon kinda gives credence to her new lore as the former bodyguard to the king.
The lore in this timeline is amazing. They make Tanya and li mei actually relevant again! This group called the umgadi are really cool and I hope to see how they fit into the overall narrative.
Making the tarkatans a group of people afflicted by disease rather than a mutated outworld race makes their lore far more intricate, and, of course, more interesting when it comes to the story.

Tanya is a black Edenian, she's not African. She had a very striking and sinister look with her white eye's and passive aggressive manor of speaking. She was queen of deception.
This (mk1) is Tanya in name only...
The change to Tanya was unnecessary though. They could have just made a new character and no one could have cared.

the fact that "tarkatan" is no longer a race, but some kind of disease or zombie-like mutation is such a brilliant twist and makes Baraka's character so much more interesting.

It’s genius if you think about the process of using these superhero icons and implementing appropriate moves that are not only strategic, but balanced for the rest of the roster move set
Darrius coming back even as a kameo was insanely cool to me, Li Mei was my favorite in MK Deception and i hope she still have her Fist of The North Star Fatality of MK Deception, Ermac is one of my favorite ninjas ever and Takeda coming back is amazing too since he's the only Kombat Kid i like.

None of the combat kids should even be born yet since the timeline got reset so o think this takeda is like the original takeda that’s one of the OG’s of the shirai ryu clan or he might be og scorpion hanzo cus scorpion in this game is actually kuai liang who is usually the second subzero after bi Han does and becomes noob saibot

@@jeremyroberts8822 I guess you haven't been paying attention to the leaks. The Kombat Kids will be in the story mode but they will be from another timeline and evil. Takeda is the same Takeda from MKX. The Shirai-Ryu does not exist in this timeline.

I’m not surprised at how much combo potential Baraka has, iirc, he was the original Combo King character back in Mortal Kombat (1992), so to see his lengthy and likely going to be rage inducing combos pleases me.
The weapon Tayna is using is a 3 section staff used to see them in some old Marshal Arts movies and TV series like Kung Fu. Takes quite a while to master.
I mastered the 3 section staff in 15 minutes.

I’m surprised at how excited everyone is for Takeda. I’ve always been a huge fan of his design and gameplay, and he was my main in MKX as well. I didn’t realize he was such a fan favorite character. One of the few post-MK9 characters they did justice alongside Geras and Kotal (for the most part lol)

Also Takeda looks insane with his look, interesting what his "backstory" or how he got there will be bc the Shirai Ryu haven't been created yet and Kenshi hasn't had any children yet. So interesting to see how his interactions with others will be as well.
@@abutteofpeanuts If the leaks were true (which is yes so far), this Takeda is actually Hanzo Hasashi. Takeda is no longer an actual person, no longer related to Kenshi, instead it is a mantle in Shirai Ryu, just like Sub-Zero and Scorpion in Lin Kuei. Much like Bi-Han is Sub-Zero, Kuai Liang is Scorpion, Hanzo now is Takeda. The MKX Takeda was the fan-favourite of the Kombat Kids, so with this new era NRS take advantage to retcon his entire character so that now Takeda character can be added in any game they want no problem, because he no longer restrict by this whole generations stuff.

As long as they’re the only superheroes in the game. I’m gonna be very disappointed if guest characters in season 2 and 3 (if that happens) are superheroes or comic book themed. They should’ve spaced Omni-Man and Homelander out between seasons

Homelander in the boys is so good. Whenever he was on screen I felt so much tension because of how powerful and scary he was. He would and can kill you in a second. I can’t wait to see him in MK

I’ll be real when the leaks got confirmed through this trailer I both laughed and kinda teared up! My boy Takeda is back and Homelander and Omni-Man actually looks incredible. They looked at the references they had and carried the characters over perfectly!!

Seeing Li Mei come back as a fighter was actually kinda cool, design wise she's a bit boring but nonetheless it was still cool to see her back outside of cameos. Kinda makes me wonder if they're gonna bring any other 3D fighters back. Darrius is there as a kameo, but two fighters I would like to see are Havik and Hotaru. I always thought Hotaru looked pretty cool and I wouldn't mind seeing him make a return. Hopefully in some sort of armor. Even as just a kameo would be neat too
My own fingers-crossed is for Ashrah. Simple and effective backstory, very cool look and fighting style, and could open up a Netherrealm story arc beyond "that place Quan Chi and Scorpion come from".

13:43 - Ermac's full facial design choice makes me a _LITTLE_ nervous about which version of Reptile we're gonna end up with, but especially with all the 3D era MK stuff. Both of those Ninjas are unbelievably cool, but they also have particular designs that make them… much weirder and less rad.

What i love about Baraka in this trailer is that he actually looks like a swordsman, his strikes are less manic and visceral. I honestly think this is a great choice for his character instead of being a savage tribe but a more compelling character that is suffering from an affliction. ALSO DARRIUS?? amazing pull

I don’t know what was more disappointing, Ermac’s design change or the fact that Quan Chi basically got no change at all. I’ve always felt he has the potential to look sick but they always keep him the same and they did it again. Other than those two points it’s pretty sick.
