      Thank you, Barbara! I've only done a little multi-axis turning, but I plan to venture into it a little more in the near future! Thanks for watching and commenting! I always love to hear from other turners!

      Multi-axis is a fun way to add a little something extra to a piece! It opens up a whole new world of ideas and possibilities. Thanks for watching!

    Yes I liked them better in the natural wood. It was hard to see the detail far away but could close up. I think your mom will love them 👍👍

    Very nice. I was thinking that some dye might look really good. Maybe a little lighter color and only one coat though. Still look pretty cool.

      Hey Doug! I hope you're doing well! To be completely honest, you wouldn't believe the person hell I turned these candlesticks into and managed to salvage into that finished product! 🥵 🤬 There's a reason they suddenly were blue with painted ends. They were several other colors previously. I experimented a bit, and it worked okay, but not great, so I continued to mess with it until dark dye and paint were the only reasonable escape option left. 😧 Since the video was about multi-axis turning and not dyeing and screwing things up (nor sanding and re-sanding candlesticks), I figured I'd cut all that and avoid embarrassing myself. It was a decent recovery to a completely self-inflicted situation. Turn and learn...

      @@ChadEamesWoodWorks all the better. Turning is that way as well. Sometimes we mess it up and have to jump through some hoops to fix them. Did that over the weekend with 2 bowls my dad had. He got the rough-outs from someone else and the bottom was too thin to begin with. Was able to make a “repair” on both. Otherwise they would have been 13” designer firewood. Lesson learned I guess.

    Gorgeous Chad!
    I love multi-axis turning, just haven’t done much of it except for an oval I did for the Mario Fire Flower I made. This gives me a great place to start! Really appreciate you sharing this!

      I've also done a pretty limited amount of multi-axis turning, so I'm trying to practice a bit. Glad you enjoyed it!

    GREAT JOB of showing the steps to mark the wood correctly. Thank You! They turned out nice - I like the color. SO, are you still loving the new lathe?

    • @ChadEamesWoodWorks
      @ChadEamesWoodWorks  3 года назад

      Hey Joel! I'm glad the steps made sense. Yes, the new lathe is awesome! I still haven't put anything huge on it yet, but it's had no problem with the larger pieces I have tried so far. I have a big piece of walnut that will probably be the first 20"+ thing I turn.

    CHAD MY NAME IS PAUL KING AND I AM DISABLED DUE TO A WORK ACCIDENT. I JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW THAT I REALLY LIKE ALL THE WORK YOU DO ON A WOOD LATHE. I HAVE (PTSD) THE DOCTORS SAY AND I I TRY DOING WOOD TURNING TO HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. I DOING PRETTY GOOD BUT I NEED A 3/4 IRISH GRIND BOWL GAUGEM AND CANT FIND ONE. I AM NOT GOOD AT THE GRINDER SO I TRIED A FEW COMPANIES TO SEE IT I COULD GET ONE FROM THEM. CARTER AND SON AND EASY WOOD SAID THEY DONT PRE GRIND. SO IF YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN GET ONE OR IF YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE AND OLD ONE YOU WOOD SALE I WOULD HAPPY TO GET FROM YOU. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO RETURN TO MY JOB IN LAW ENFORECMENT DUE TO LOSING MY LEFT LEG IN ACCIDENT AND I AM LOVING WOOD TURNING . THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE. YOURS TRULY PAUL KING, 8/5/2021

      Hey Paul! Thanks for watching and for the kind words! I don’t have any 3/4” gouges, I rarely go bigger than 5/8”. As for the type of grind, you might be able to find something close to the grind you want, then just tune it up to your preference. I’m not good on a grinder either. When I’m changing the grind on a gouge, I might do it over the course of a couple weeks while still using the gouge,so I can use that metal instead of wasting it all. A Wolverine jig is very helpful for consistency of the grind, but I don’t know if there’s one that will accommodate a 3/4”. Get a coarse grinding wheel and an old gouge and practice. I’m in the middle of re-grinding several brand new gouges because I couldn’t find one with the grind I like. Maybe try woodturningtoolstore.com

      @@ChadEamesWoodWorks it could be the lighting, but it looks to me that there has been a change in the fullness of your thyroid over the last several months

      Interesting observation... There can be quite a lot of change in the lighting in my shop from video to video, so that's possible. But, I have an appointment next month anyway, so I'll have it checked out. I'll be extremely impressed if you're right! Thanks for watching and for your concern!
