It has taken me a while but I am beginning to get it. I think the best thing I got from this video is to "start simple". I had been having trouble understanding arc type and circular type but I think I also have that now. Thank you for these techniques.🙂🙂

Thank you Barbara, great video and explanation of the techniques and types. I must say - I really like your first 1990 multi-axis turning the most!-)

First class Barbara, thank you for summarising so well what you have no doubt learned after many years of (sometimes) trial and error practice. Not least, thank you for sharing. (And for learning all your editing expertise!)

Thank you for your comment!! I’m working on my second chapter which will be showing the magic of how all these ideas come together by examining the variables. And after that, I think I’ll just make videos when I’m making projects in my shop just to show people my methods of working. But thank you for your interest.

Thanks for the info Barbara. I have reached the point where, as I approach the lathe, I need to decide what I am going to make. I could make "another one" of these or those... boring. I usually just make something that someone requests. Now, however, I am inspired to experiment with new designs. Still beads, coves, and cylinders, but with a twist.
One thing that I have not heard you mention though, is the importance of keeping your tools very sharp (admittedly, I have not watched all of your videos yet). These pieces look like they can become quite fragile. A "catch" could be disastrous. Thanks again.

Holy smokes! Thanks for this amazing overview on multi axis turning! I can't wait to put this new understanding of controlling the outcome to work!! I've been teaching myself how to turn over the past couple years and this info has filled in so many gaps in my self-education. Thanks again, I definitely subscribed and am excited to go through all your videos and learn from another master! Blessings and love from Upstate New York ❤️💛💚

This is a wonderful presentation on a type of spindle turning I'm unfamiliar with (I'm a newbie). I'll definitely try some of these. Thanks for sharing your experimentation and experience.

Wow. I love it!! What a wealth of information this was!! The design ideas this video titillated was pretty amazing. New subscriber and I hunted down your book immediately before I even finished the video. Should be here soon! I’m really looking forward to it!! Thanks so much for this! I’ve been turning hard for 2 years and learned a lot and have become reasonably skilled in a variety of categories the least of which was spindle turning, but I’ve been dabbling again lately and I enjoy it but adding THIS! Whoa Nelly, game changer!! I’m excited about the prospects!!

@@barbaradill8603 well, I actually checked and it's impossible to ship bottles of wine out of Italy these days... I will just have to bring you one when I come visit the US, or play the host to you and your partner should you ever choose to come visit Rome! Wine is on me :)
