I purchased a mini lathe just over a year ago to make small parts to accent my scroll saw projects. I spent some time turning some short cherry firewood into round pieces, originally thinking about making wheels. Then I started watching videos on turning and discovered a whole new world waiting for me to explore. When I came across your videos on multi axis turning that was all it took. I'm no master by any means but the journey trying to achieve learning all I can has begun and I'm enjoying it more than I ever thought I would. Thank you so much for sharing your techniques and knowledge. For a man who has spent the last 2-1/2 years fighting and winning the battle of stage three lung cancer, still recovering from the bad side effects of radiation and chemo so they will not let me return to work just yet, I turn to my little 12X16 foot backyard woodshop. it's helps keep me "sane", as I found out "retirement" does not fit me well. Again thank you for all you do. Yet another Avenue of woodturning I am going to explore. So unusual.
Hi James...Thank you for your note. Congratulations for your ongoing recovery. What a battle. Enjoy your shop and playing with these ideas. There is so much to be discovered!!!!!
Thank you Barbara for taking the time to post your videos, they are very informative and the outcome is amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge...... I hope to some day be able to this type of turning. Thank you once again Barbara your work is much appreciated.
I have your study work hanging in my shop. so that when I feel like a multi axis turning would be in order I can quickly refer to your information, You certainly have studied this aspect of turning for a long time. thank you...........Walt
That is what I call a masterclass!! Wow! I have taught in the discipline of healthcare and consider myself a good teacher, but the way you covered the subject matter in such depth was truly inspiring. I have always known that when someone truly loves (or at least are passionate about) the subject the are attempting to cover it shines out. I am retired now and haven't carved a piece of wood since childhood, after watching you I am just itching for the smell of cut wood again. Thank you so much for putting this out there so that all can simply marvel at the artistry.
+s1rmunchalot Thank you for your note. This has been an amazing path for me. I'll probably always be playing with these ideas. There are so many design opportunities to discover!! Enjoy
Thank you again for your note. I would like to use it as a Testimony in a book that I'm writing that will be published by Schiffer books. Would that be OK with you? I'd need your name!!
Absolutely wonderful. I have only been turning for couple of months and to find this is inspiring. In fact, I have just made my first 2 MA candlesticks. Not perfect by any means but so satisfying. Thank you.
Really good to see you finally have a channel. Saw an article about you in a magazine here in the uk and it really opened up a whole new world of opportunity for me. Thanks for posting Barbara, it's a real pleasure to watch. Rich

+Anthony Newcombe Hi Anthony, I've just figured out how to reply. I prefer turning green wood, and I use any wood that I happen to have to play with. When I make something significant, I use my favorite woods like cherry, maple, holly and walnut. I have found that the lighter woods show the amazing shadows better than the darker woods.
