A Fact For Every Subway Train In NYC
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 июл 2024
- This is basically a video of some quick facts about each train in the New York City Subway. I know it is only 5 minutes, but my next video may be the longest one on this channel. It will be released on the one year anniversary of my channel: July 10th, 2022.
Also another fact: R train is the only train to have a transfer to every line in the system
You’re actually right which is insane to think about
It doesn’t have transfers to the Franklin Avenue or Rockaway Park Shuttle, during Late nights the A connects to all shuttles and if we include daytime and late night you’re able to transfer to every line except the 6 on the A.
@@rahmel2009 we don’t count shuttles
I just checked the map and you are right 💀
What about the L?
The M is the only line that starts in a borough, goes to Manhattan, and returns to that same borough
Fun fact: the 3 and 7 are the only IRT trains to never enter the Bronx.
And the 7 never enters Brooklyn
@@nickc2302 neither do the 1 and 6
@@rahmel2009 oh yeah I forgot
the 1: Damn bro forgot about me
@@bonusyt6413 the 1 goes to the bronx for like 3 stops
Funfact: The N(maybe W too) may get an extension to LGA but port authority has to approve it
Edit: mom I’m famous
they should do that.
they have to approve it. literally everyones wants that extension.
Why wouldn’t they approve it?
They are also making a Air Train for LaGuardia
@@FDNY_Andre pretty pointless if you’re going to have the N/W trains run there
Fun Fact: The SIR is so unnoticeable that the creator of this video didn't mention of it. (Staten Island Railway)
It barely runs
Crazy how the 1 train is the only train to have some elevated platforms in Manhattan probably cause there’s fewer buildings up towards the heights and Inwood or the streets aren’t to packed like midtown.
125 is really crazy. El for one stop
@@coachloubrown-22 ye fr, just checked and it’s actually 4 stops the 1 train got elevated in Manhattan.
The topography of Manhattan dictated that decision to build it that way. I've of my favorite stations because of this.
That always weirded me out when the 1 train had elevated stations and then goes into the tunnel again. I thought it used to be an outer city train track like the Metro North before it got repurposed for the 1 train
@@coachloubrown-22 That's because there's actually a fault running underground along 125th Street. That's why the station is elevated
Fun fact: The L train is where Showtime happens
The C and E are the only true subways that never run above ground.
The R as well. And the V back in the day
Same with the G
@@bonusyt6413 the G is aboveground for only 2 stops
removing their myrtle avenue line was probably a mistake. they should extend the 2 line.
Probably an extension of the 2/5 to Ave Z or Voorhies Ave would be beneficial for those that live east of Sheepshead Bay. They don’t gotta always walk far down towards the Brighton line(B/Q) or rely on the crowded buses.
@DaSmashFTW I feel like they should look at a proposal for the Utica Avenue line towards Kings Plaza instead. Considering that the B46 is the top 5 most crowded bus route in Brooklyn.
Wow I really enjoyed this video!! I think you were only discussing the trains currently running in nyc mta, however we did use to have a V train and a 9 train. It would be cool to see some facts about those subway lines as well.
The 2 and 5 trains can switch to either side of Manhattan in case of a incident.
Wakefield is the only station the 2 train has to itself
The 5 train has so many terminals
Jamaica Van-Wyck is the only station the E has to itself
The B, C, 5 and W have no stations to themself.
@@rahmel2009 the 5 has the entire Dyre Avenue Line to itself
@@yarapah I forgot
@@rahmel2009 the E has 2 stations for itself, Jamaica Van-Wyck and World Trade Center
@@rahmel2009 the Z train doesn’t either
Great video! And Another fact about the 3 is that at new lots Ave there are provisions for an extension going east bound which I hope the go through with
Also, the 7 train is the only train that has a cross-platform transfer to an IND/BMT line (the N and W at Queensboro Plaza)
From what I remember is that the IRT system is not compatible with the IND/BMT. IRT trains can not run on the IND or BMT tracks. When the systems merged they created interconnects between the IND and the BMT. So the NYC subway is really 2 systems, the A division and the B division. I don't remember which is the IRT. and which is the IND/BMT.
@@AI_Image_Master IRT lines are the numbered lines and IND/BMT lines are the lettered lines (IND is A-G, BMT is J-Z)
@@NYer8301 and H and I apparently don’t exist for some reason
(H is internally used for the Rockaway Park Shuttle)
@@rahmel2009 right. I think the I doesn’t exist because it looks too similar to the 1
@@NYer8301 O is too similar to 0 but it could still work because technically there isn’t a 0 train.
Thank-you for the history lesson about the New York Subways. And that was a great video 📹
I think a more fun fact for the 7 was that it was half a BMT service.
I remember the CC and AA trains. They had wicker seats and tiny ceiling fans in the late 1970's.
AKA the K and H line
The BMT 10 (the M) used to use only two two car pairs during middays to Sunset Park before the permanent cut to Chambers Street during middays. It also entered Brooklyn twice on weekdays as well while going to Bensonhurst rush hours and had a midday reextension back to sunset park when the northern portion of the Manhattan bridge was rebuilt for it's final phase.
these are actually interesting facts about the NYC Subway routes i'm a Avaition enthusiast but snap this is so investing, & dope.
In 2017, the G Train went to Coney Island when the F train made stops to Euclid Avenue
The 3 used to terminate at Flatbush Ave. (along with the 4 train) and used to run only nine cars, even during rush hours!
Facts. That all changed on July 10, 1983 when they switched the lines, with the 2 and 5 going to Flatbush and the 3 and 4 to New Lots. Remember it as if it were yesterday
Funfact: *The R is slow as fuck*
Jackson Heights Roosevelt Av moment
Is there a reason
@@xmega9526 Nah Woodhaven Blvd too 💀
Bruh, I bet the 3 moves way faster then the R. I'm pretty sure the only reason the C doesn't beat the R in travel time isn't because it's length, but it's frequency.
the Diamond C train was the longest train route in nyc
Nicely done. Here are a few more facts...
- The double-lettered trains signified local routes and single-lettered were express.
- The CC was at one point, the longest route, from Bedford Park Blvd to Rockaway Park.
- Before 21st St -Queensbeidge was used, the B (diamond) rush hour trains used to terminate at 168 St in Washington Heights.
- The 241st stop on the 2 train is the only station that the 2 train doesn't share with another line.
- The 225th station on the 1 train used to be on 221st St but was moved when the Harlem River Canal was built, for boats to pass around Manhattan Island.
more facts about the 7, the 7 train is the only train to rock purple, its the only train to be known as the international express, its the only irt train to sit side by side a letterd train at a whole station, and its the only train to have a super express
And it's the only IRT line with 11 cars each train
@@josephbell2160 that too
The g train used to go 71st continental ave back in 09
Dean St., Station on the Franklin Avenue shuttle was re-open and used again and then destroy once again
2:00 I USED TO LIVE THERE WHEN I WAS A KID AND WAS ALWAYS CONFUSED TO WHY THERE WAS A STEEP CURVE AND ABANDONED TRACKS BEHIND THERE! Thanks for informing me of this. Last I checked (2020ish) some of the old tracks are still standing.
Edit: I’m an idiot and he talked about the old infrastructure seconds later
Where abandoned tracks?
Those under Myrtle; there used to be a BMT 11 (the MJ) that was discontinued in 1969. Before it's closure, it had to be stabilized with timber due to a truck hitting some supports of the elevated line.
Can we get another video like this but in more detail with each train?
Another fact: The City Hall Loop was the first MTA loop that was not build for the MTA.
Fun fact:The 3 train only has like 3 stops in Queens
Also Another Fact Of The (2): All of the line has a train connection
And there use to be a 9 train. It ran on the same line as the 1
Do facts for rolling stock
With the help of B15, the 3 train is the only IRT line to touch the border of Brooklyn and Queens (besides the 7 train, the only Queens line). 1, 2, 4 and 5 doesn’t count
The L train also touches the border
Bring the 8 3rd Avenue Elevated line back where it was between Gun hill road and 138 street connecting to the Pelham 6 line 149 street connecting to the 2 5 trains 🚃. South Bronx has no subway line anymore. Nothing cannot replace or take over the or run over the 3rd Avenue Elevated line anymore. Let us not forget about the old 8 3rd Avenue Elevated line that used to run in the 1800s and 1974.
@@FDNY_Andre He said IRT, not BMT or IND.
3 train doesn’t even touch the border
The longest stretch between two stations is not The A
It’s the N between Atlantic Avenue and Canal street
what happened to the r160s that used to populate the N line?
@3dbotmakerforlife yeah thats what i assumed
4:55 queensboro plaza?
yeah!!
new year & new birthday ?
The z train is lucky, good or bad idk
2 Facts:
The B & D Used To Have A Yellow Counterpart
@3dbotmakerforlife B & D via Broadway line?
woooooo
Remember the 9 train? 🤔🤔
Don't forget about the old 8 3rd Avenue Elevated line that used to run between Gun hill road and south Ferry until 1955. iN 1956 the 8 trains run between Gun hill road and 149 street 3rd Avenue Elevated line helping out the 2 5 lines. Don't sleep on the 8 3rd Avenue Elevated line. That's the reason why they have the 8 signs on the R62AS . When they do people wrong GoD will bring it to pass and thinking that they sclic . Nobody has not forgotten about they torn down 👎 the 8 3rd Avenue Elevated line down in 1973 1974.
@3dbotmakerforlife i could say the same thing for the Z line as well
Remember the 8 Thrid Ave Elevated line also?
@@leecornwell5632 bro 😦😦😦
U forgot the SIR
The Staten Island railroad isn’t a subway service
3:15 - Fun fact: The Z is useless
I like your videos very much. They are quite informative. But could you slow your speech down a little. It gets difficult to take in everything you say. Thanks.
U lied about the g the SIR doesn’t serve manhattan
That don’t count
Talk slower. Great information but a lot of the words are getting swallowed up & we don't have a chance to absorb what you're saying.
He doesn't listen for some strange reason. I guess Aspberger's folks can't empathize.
Interesting information, for sure, but you need to learn how to speak into a microphone, or just plain speak. Your diction and speaking talent is dreadful. Too fast, too scrambled, words with no beginning or ending. In other words, you're talking is impossible to follow.
Do the 8 3rd Avenue Elevated line between Gun hill road and 138 street connecting to the Pelham 6 line and 149 street connecting to the 2 5 lines. Don't sleep on the 9 8 trains 🚃 that used to run.
Fun fact: You can tell if the Showtime thugs will dance for you depending on the types of poles the car has.
"thugs"?
showtime thugs? Hmm better they come on the car and threaten you with a gun for money, you’d call them thugs either way right?
Learn to speak first
