First off he didnt make anything. He soldered a usb to the power pins on the drive then used a sata to usb converter cable that will handle the protocol conversion. The other usb power cable he soldered would only be used when writing to a disk as they wont use that much power just to read discs.. so just a regular sata to usb will make the drive work normally unless you are writing to a disc

Hi dear i have a question
If I connect the sata cable from the dvd to the computer board instead of converting from sata to usb, will it work?
No

Yes
@@DIYandHowTo thanks ❤️
So I solder the USB to it and connect the data output to the mainboard via SATA cable and it works.

Nice video, but if I'm gonna buy a SATA to USB adapter, I might as well go ahead and buy a 13 pin to USB adapter, don't you think?
muito bem. gostei
Which CPU and monitor you are using?
SATA PROTOCOL IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH USB WITHOUT CONVERTER CIRCUITRY
Thank you
Which laptop is used in this video?
It is impossible to connect without a compatible adapter
Not adaptor i don't use
Even if u don't use an adapter, the connections are too weak and not applicable AT ALL.
Why everything in dust and mess?
