Farmall H rear wheel weights weigh 125 lbs. The other pto you talk about is actually for a belt pulley. They where used for running threshing machines and feed mills. The dealers where given white Farmall's as demonstrator models and where supposed to be painted IH red when sold.
The side pto was intended to be a belt drive for saws , grain grinders and such. STATIONARY. The belt drum that bolts on there was usually left off unless you were using that machine because the weight of the drum took a lot of time to stop and so it made shifting gears slow because of waiting for drum to spin down so you could shift old farm boy
That's the first tractor that I broke my wrist on the f10. I'd park my pet. And later it was used and the spark advance was left high. Back fire took out my wrist 4 broken bones. Yours runs better than mine. Tks Fer good show.
This is YOUR tractor you do what you think is best , I think the other people are jealous because you have a brain and you can think outside the box. I wish you all the best.
The belt driven pto on the side were used for a number of things including a belly mower, buzz saw, grain cleaner and a number of other stationary objects and even a few driven ones as well. Belts are easy to get a hold of if you know what you are looking for. For example I still have a few nice belts that I have been saving for other projects.

I really like your tractor videos. You are correct. Eventually, a 670 Predator would be your best and easiest option to get the power and speed you need on the PTOs. Although, a 420 Predator is twice the power of the 212 and has electric start. They are less than 1/2 the price of a 670. I really enjoy watching what you have done with the 212 Predator engine and how you were able to adapt it to the tractor. Your videos may save a lot of old tractors and old golf carts from the scrap yards. Your golf cart engine coupling idea was the best electric to gas conversion I have seen yet on RUclips. Your method will hold up over time verses some other ones I've seen that will only work a short while before failing. Likewise, you built a strong mechanical interface between the 212 and the tractor gearbox. Because you have a farm, you obviously realize stuff needs to be built so it holds up long term and, if and when it fails, can be easily repaired when necessary.
Your tractor, do what you want. It is a Farm-All. All includes 7 hp Predator engines. Black paint will show all the dirt, but will hide oil leaks. Remote? First thought is "death-trap". Make sure default is stop in case you lose a battery or drop the remote. It will take a heavy duty actuator to operate the brakes and steering, something more than a window or wiper motor. If you get it to work, train a dog to sit in the operator seat.
That side pto you can run a sprayer pump with the tank mounted under the frame for spraying fence rows etc. I'm sure the rear one will be good enough to run a seeder.
That would be cool! I love the predator engines! When you put oil and gas in it , you have to let it idle for 3 hours to break in the engine. Love the way you've made an old "junk tractor" work again. You got me thinking of the same idea now! As for the side pto I'd try to rig up some hydraulics to run off of it. If you can get it to work you could incorporate it into your 3 point boom idea. The remote idea is cool too. I don't know about black though, that would be hotter than a frying pan in the summer.
Thank you for doing these videos. I have a farmall h and it has a crack in the block. So this interests me greatly. This is great American ingenuity or should that be enginuity? Lol anyway my real question is about the Hydraulic pump. Will it still operate off of that engine? Chris make it happen! Imagine that 6.5 horse with a working bucket!
Hydraulics is one thing that I have not talked about and have not experimented with but the pump does work off the main shaft which is turning it's just not turning very fast. I will investigate that at some point.
Id suggest just going to go powersports and ordering a performance kit for the 212 and then building a stage 2 or above with the tractor as it would be cheaper power than a 670 that and removing the governor to make you a little more rpms
Cast center weighs about 125#each, rim maybe 50#, tire/tube weights 100 to 125# depending on size, ply, & wear, so 275 to 300# with no fluid or wheel weights. Easy to handle after the wheel is slid off the axle, hope this helps you out.
You could use torque arm & shaft mount a hydraulic pump on the upper PTO. Easy to match pump displacement with RPM & torque for whatever size engine. Also easy to hide the hydraulic reservoir under the original sheet metal and have a good flooded suction for the pump.
Excellent job, if you are looking for a use for the PTO s , I was wondering if you could fit a fairly heavy fly wheel to the belt pulley at the side as I see you've taken the one out from the clutch housing, would that give the small engine any more power, just a thought, you will obviously know better than me
You can and should turn the throttle stop screw out a little bit more, you won’t over rev it and there’s more power to be had out of the little engine. The reason for that is if you rev it higher the clutch will bite harder
I'm an old farm boy who grew up on letter series farmall tractors and I now work as an industrial maintenance tech. Have you considered using a gear reduction splitter gearbox between the predator and the tractor. We use them commonly to utilize very low powered electric motors to do high speed /high torque applications. Just an idea...
cool project, I agree way better then going for scrap metal. just a idea, could you add a log spliter hydraulic pump to the front of the engine? it would give you added potential.
Don't hold me to this, but I think those rear-wheel weights are 300 lbs each IIRC. The side PTO I have seen set up with a pulley and belts for a front-mounted saw for cutting wood. I'd love to see the 670 on there and you taking it to an antique tractor pulling contest.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm, Are you sure about the weights? I ask because I have some weights on my old Cub Cadet that are 150 lbs. each and they look smaller than those. Oh well, It doesn't really matter I suppose. Take care, be safe, and stay healthy.
@@TrojanHorse1959 Many people have commented ( some are pretty knowledgeable about farmalls) and the most popular answer by far has been 145, and I'm not great at guessing weight but they look like that is a legit number.
Remote control would be really cool. A lot of the new tractors with gps are set to go straight until the end of the row then the driver turns the tractor around, rests and lets the tractor do the rest.
I have been enjoying this adventure. Tell you what would be super funny, het that thing painted black and R/C it...put a dummy in the driver seat and just let it drive itself into the first tractor show while you control it from a distance. Got bless, enjoy your videos.
That front PTO is for running threshers, cordwood saw and other flat pulley driven implements... ie cotton gin. Just gear the predator 2 to 1 to the trans input shaft and you have the shaft speeds back to original. And the 6.5 HP turns into approx 13 HP due to the gear reduction.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm Actually... I think the 420 will do the trick. The original engines only put out 26HP.... So that 13 HP turns into 26 at 2 to 1 reduction!
I have an old saw rig for cutting firewood into stove size lengths. It has a carriage that swings the large pieces into a circular blade about 36 inches in diameter. Can't remember what it's called. I think the PTO on the side rotates fast enough to power the saw. It would require the pulley (attached to the PTO) along with the wide belt that goes between the pulley on the tractor and the pulley on the saw. Thinking about doing something similar to your setup to an old 1936 Farmall F-12 partially for that purpose.
Hi Chris I was just thinking 🤔 you no what would be a great moter a used water cooled snowmobile a big engine thay have a lot of power and lots of Rpm you just think 3 carburetors on that engine fast. Then for the Exhaust put on a farm 🚜 tractor tipe with the flapper on the top of the muffler.
The front PTO, can be a belt driver by placing a Belt Pulley on it. You do have space between the engine and the steering bracket collum, to add more weights. By taking a heavy duty steel plate welded there to hold a box,(with drain holes) to place those big front tractor weights. That way you Centered the Center Of Gravity in front of the engine and lessened it wanting to tip on U
The high performance P212 guys will take and cut two of the clutch pads in half so there is 6 points of contact. I bet that would help out with 4th and 5th gears a bit.
Check it out, in this first version I used a linear actuator for steering, however in the future I would like to do as you suggested, thanks for watching. ruclips.net/video/l3S5OyBAaL8/видео.html
Here’s what I’d do: What’s the H have for factory HP? I’m guessing 35-40? So I’d put a twin air cooled Briggs or whatever you can find used in good condition. They’re usually 18-25 HP. Then gear it 2:1 so your input shaft is approx the same speed as factory rpm. And then you’ve got your factory effective HP as well. Put the factory clutch back in. Get rid of that cv clutch. And that will be your operational clutch then as well. You’ll have to mount the clutch/flywheel assembly so that it can handle the thrust of the clutch pedal as well. This way you’ve got a functional pto at factory speed. You can drive it like it came from the factory, add some weight to replace the factory weight. All in, it’ll likely cost you more than the 7HP you’ve got in there now, but you’d have something you can use. I’d even paint it factory colours, and instead of the H emblem I’d put a Briggs logo or whatever you like. And take it to the tractor shows. But that’s just me - -
The original clutch attaches to the flywheel, which is on the crank, which is no longer in play. I talked about upgrading to the predator 670, and at that point I would change the gear ratio. Original HP was 26
Keyfarm Yes I didn’t include enuf details I guess. Sorry. What I meant was to attach the factory flywheel to the shaft that’s attached to your driven sprocket. And from there back continue with the original factory clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, and trans input shaft. That way you’d keep all of the rpm speeds close to original, you’d be able to use both your pto in their original configuration and speed.. You wouldn’t have to worry about the cv clutch giving you grief. And if you used an 18 hp motor, you’d have basically double that, which means you’d have the most powerful Farmall H in town. Instead of a Super H it would be a Super Duper H. lol. Get some chain lube for motorbike chains, lube it every so often. Better yet, instead of a chain drive, use a serpentine belt drive. Have to get the widest width that’s available. Quieter, no lube, use a spring loaded tensioner for it.
I like the build im just going to have to hope that with a 670 that I can get mine to Bush hog. The side pto is really good for running water pumps for irrigation. I know your really proud of the "hardest pulling 212" but if its not really able to do the work a tractor needs to do it just isn't worth having
22 HP should be plenty of power to run a 5 foot brush cutter. My Farmall C is 18 HP and I bush hog with it. Now I realize there is a difference in torque between these Predator engines and the original engines but I think when you gear down from 3600 rpm to around 1600, it'll have all the power it needs.
you may have room to mount another engine next to other one or side by side. run one chain for whole setup. get the throttles as close as you can and it will be ok thats how the multiple engine tractor pullers did it.
Make it happen! Seriously purist for those old tractors are dieing off fast. With only being a drawbar tractor no one wants em. I love what you've done. Although I think the input shaft gear should be be somewhat smaller to speed stuff up a bit, but thought that when you stuck it together. I'd blast it red again tho. Keep em coming.
You can run the 212 at a higher RPM. They can handle 5k all day long. Removing the governor is easy. Limiting it to 5k might be the hard part. It will rev to 5500 where it hits valve float. You don't want to run it that high. You would need a tach.
I need power long term, a 212 wound out past it's limits won't last long. Also , power and RPM ,not just RPM. It takes a good bit of power to effectively turn a bush hog.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm I don't think you are going to be doing any bush hogging with a 212 either. I just think you could get an extra 1000+ RPMs out of your 212 without hurting it.
But say that you make a split shaft (jack shaft for that matter) you could put two different gear ratios to run bigger equipment (ie maybe 540 for the rear pto)
Make it happen. That first time you're standing/sitting in the shade, sipping an iced tea and watching that empty tractor seat heat to egg-fryin', you'll be real glad you did.
I've got some high torque servos on the way, one to pull the throttle, another one to flip a momentary on- off- on reversable polarity switch. We'll get there.
A second 212 driving the side pto with different gearing, so you have a high speed "setting" for driving long distances, idle the front engine and rev up the other, pop it in 5th, speed time haha
A lot of the old tractors had a big belt running off the front pto. The belt could run a wide variety of things from saws on up. Hey what the heck, it’s a project. Play with it.
The belt pto o. The side that people mention is also why on old 1950,s trucks the rear fender could be removed. You could take the fender off Jack up the pickup remove the tire and spin the belt with the drum. Normally they had only one tractor so this doubled there power. They would use a team of horses or the tractor to pull the implement forward to tighten the belt
If you intend to mow by remote control with this beast, I think it would be a good idea to have some kind of emergency stop that's accessible from the front of the the tractor. Not sure if you've ever been skiing, but at the tops of chair lifts there's usually a plastic bar that will stop the lift if someone fails to get off at the top. I think it's called a safety gate. Especially after seeing what happened on the CarsandCameras youtube channel (they were trying to make an R/C go kart and on the first test run it took off with a passenger an no kill switch) having a kill switch like that might be a good failsafe, and it would be pretty easy to make them removable for non R/C use. I'm no farmer but I do bush hog about 10 acres of grass with a 1980 JD 2040, so I'm no stranger to the power farm machinery has or how hot it is to use in the summer lol. This is a truly awesome project, and I can't wait to see where you go with it!
Lol, a sunshade! the last time I was bush hogging with my Farmall C I tore the muffler off how long do you think a sunshade would last me? That's true, but I'm trying to be funny, I see your point, but this tractor won't have to handle the trouble spots. Thanks for the comment.
Are you going to attempt anything with the belly pump hydraulics? If not just eliminate that belly pump and you can loose a good chunk of weight and gain some power to the wheels (granted not much really)
I have an h I got it a few years ago as a project I’m not going for this but this is pretty cool not exactly sure how a boom would work on one of these things if I remember right mine had a hydraulic line on it tho so maybe and I think the next thing in true tractor style would be a stack and I’d go with all black that’d be cool

Hahaha, you like to mess with people, I like it, great idea. By following your advice I'm going to be asked to leave before I'm even registered. LOL
Great project!! Thanks for the cool videos. Make your ideas come to life!!
That's what I will do if I get a 670cc
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm Actually... I think the 420 will do the trick. The original engines only put out 26HP.... So that 13 HP turns into 26 at 2 to 1 reduction!
Go for it Chris, make it happen!

Chris make it happen! Full send!
Check out the videos of it radio controlled, it's pretty interesting
Awesome tractor you have. I would go farmall red with original decals
I don’t know anything about tractors but watch anyway!!! ❤️
Make it happen!!!
Thank you
Hi Chris I was just thinking 🤔 you no what would be a great moter a used water cooled snowmobile a big engine thay have a lot of power and lots of Rpm you just think 3 carburetors on that engine fast. Then for the Exhaust put on a farm 🚜 tractor tipe with the flapper on the top of the muffler.
I have a farmall h myself and I use the belt pully on the side as a winch for a rope, just like a log puller.
That's awesome I might give that a try
The front PTO, can be a belt driver by placing a Belt Pulley on it. You do have space between the engine and the steering bracket collum, to add more weights. By taking a heavy duty steel plate welded there to hold a box,(with drain holes) to place those big front tractor weights. That way you Centered the Center Of Gravity in front of the engine and lessened it wanting to tip on U
My 1945 oliver 60 is losing water into the oil pan. It has a very similar engine-transmission as yours. May have to perform the same swap as you have
Good luck 💯👍
chris just MAKE IT HAPPEN ,and god bless you
Go for it Chris you're an inventor
Check out the new video, R/C Tractor
Love what you're doing. Could the 2nd pto run a hydraulic pump? That would expand your possibilities
It probably could
How about a capstan on that side PTO. Also how about a 40hp vanguard FI? They are amazing. Also come in a marine version thats about 45hp!
The high performance P212 guys will take and cut two of the clutch pads in half so there is 6 points of contact. I bet that would help out with 4th and 5th gears a bit.
Thanks, I'll look into it, never heard of that before.

This may help a bit.
Sawmill, cider press, wood splitter, wood chipper, air compressor, belt drive generator
Cool.
Make it happen I recommend using electric wheelchairs for the steering wheel Easy to hook up to remote control
Check it out, in this first version I used a linear actuator for steering, however in the future I would like to do as you suggested, thanks for watching.

The front one is what a belt driver went on. That was used to run threshing machines.
I like the build im just going to have to hope that with a 670 that I can get mine to Bush hog. The side pto is really good for running water pumps for irrigation. I know your really proud of the "hardest pulling 212" but if its not really able to do the work a tractor needs to do it just isn't worth having
Trust me, it's worth having.
How bout turn an ice cream churn with that front pto? I saw one run off a hit miss engine at a local tractor show.
That is a spectacular idea!
NOW yer talkin'!
Chris go ahead make it happen from an old man in Tn in a wheelchair love you channel
You could come on down and bush hog right from the chair 👍. Thanks for watching.
you may have room to mount another engine next to other one or side by side. run one chain for whole setup. get the throttles as close as you can and it will be ok thats how the multiple engine tractor pullers did it.
Rear PTO may not be turning very fast but I still Would not want to get caught in it lol, Great job
Thanks
Make it happen!
Seriously purist for those old tractors are dieing off fast. With only being a drawbar tractor no one wants em. I love what you've done. Although I think the input shaft gear should be be somewhat smaller to speed stuff up a bit, but thought that when you stuck it together. I'd blast it red again tho. Keep em coming.
Thanks
That's right, but 30% more rpm doesn't really help me get to where I need to be, ha bush hogging 😀
hi michael again a finish mower on other pto would work great try to put winch on front
But say that you make a split shaft (jack shaft for that matter) you could put two different gear ratios to run bigger equipment (ie maybe 540 for the rear pto)
Its 1 of a kind man. Make your dream happen.
Make it happen. That first time you're standing/sitting in the shade, sipping an iced tea and watching that empty tractor seat heat to egg-fryin', you'll be real glad you did.
It gonna be awesome
One i love the black idea! And as a guy in the rc hobby I would absolutely love to see that happen! Just make it happen. I want to see it done
Thanks
You could slap a hydraulic pump onto the side PTO and do whatever you can dream of with high pressure oil
hey chris love the ideas! all black with some servos to make it all remotely operated sound great!
I've got some high torque servos on the way, one to pull the throttle, another one to flip a momentary on- off- on reversable polarity switch. We'll get there.
You are my hero! Shiny black or flat black? No wrong answer there......
Lolt, thanks
A second 212 driving the side pto with different gearing, so you have a high speed "setting" for driving long distances, idle the front engine and rev up the other, pop it in 5th, speed time haha
That would work and be pretty cool 👍. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You have some good ideas. Chris make it happen.
ruclips.net/video/l3S5OyBAaL8/видео.html
I really wish you would have saved the original engine but that’s pretty cool for predator on it you should really try to reuse the original gas tank
A lot of the old tractors had a big belt running off the front pto. The belt could run a wide variety of things from saws on up. Hey what the heck, it’s a project. Play with it.
Do whatever you want and keep having fun!
The belt pto o. The side that people mention is also why on old 1950,s trucks the rear fender could be removed. You could take the fender off
Jack up the pickup remove the tire and spin the belt with the drum. Normally they had only one tractor so this doubled there power. They would use a team of horses or the tractor to pull the implement forward to tighten the belt
Find an old Onan twin from a sears suburban or a briggs opposed you can find them cheap and with twin straight pipes it would sound awesome
I've got one of those. That sucker is LOUD.
We’re do you find those now I want an onan I have one in a skid loader but now I want one straight piped lol
@@hunter7476 mine's original to my Sears garden tractor.
Cris make it happen, I've been sending these videos out to four states

Awesome, thanks for the support.
Love the sense of humor.

Trust me, I saw how that first version of RoboCop went bad, I won't let that happen
I think it will take a bit to make it rc but its possible. If you feel you can do it, make it happen!
That'd be one awesome video. Probably go viral!
Farmall one piece wheel weights are 145 pounds each. 290 per set.
Wow, thanks
I think it would be a lot easier to put a simple sunshade on the tractor because trying to cut brush in more technical areas is gonna suuuck.
Lol, a sunshade! the last time I was bush hogging with my Farmall C I tore the muffler off how long do you think a sunshade would last me? That's true, but I'm trying to be funny, I see your point, but this tractor won't have to handle the trouble spots. Thanks for the comment.
May have to use 2 belt pulleys with belt twisted to reverse direction
Are you going to attempt anything with the belly pump hydraulics? If not just eliminate that belly pump and you can loose a good chunk of weight and gain some power to the wheels (granted not much really)
I'll keep it on there just in case
I would set the extra PTO up to run a back up generator
Take the side PTO and put a V-BELT pulley on and adapt a small generator so you can always have 120 vac wherever you go .
That would be cool
You go man!!
