Pretty sweet man, I mated up a Briggs vanguard 35hp to a ford Festiva. Used the factory clutch so no need for chains, sprockets or jackshafts. It would run 70-75 on flat ground. Drove it to work for two weeks 😂. You can bypass that governor and turn it to 4500 safely . You’ll get the 50mph and could probably go back to the larger sprocket for low end

I drove 300 miles today, to purchase a Scion XA for $2600 but the guy changed his mind last minute. I wanted that car because its manual and 1.5L. Which means I dont risk my life pulling that engine out if I have to work on it. That and it has the least amount of sensors possible for obdII and 40mpg isnt bad either. I can honestly say, I would have rather spent that money on something like what you have here. It would have ate me up to pass up something like this for sale at 2600$, because it checks off all the things I need in a reliable, manageable vehicle. Ill tell you, your at least inspiring me to drop some cash ona truck or a small safe vehicle, with a manual trans and blown engine to emulate what you have here.
Let me ask you what brand clutch did you go with and how many teeth. I was also going to mention to you look on Facebook marketplace I found several used 670s in my area for over half the cost. If you decide to still go with a bigger motor.
Cool, what area are you in? This is a 14 tooth clutch just like previous one, I don't recall the brand name but it's built different and cost about twice as much as the cheap on, I think it was $50-55.

If you have to much trouble with the clutch, do a one to one ratio on a Jack shaft direct drive from engine, and put 2 or 4 clutches on Jack shaft to multiply 2 or 4 sprockets on transmission input shaft.

I would like to see how fast you could get that tractor to go yes i know its for pulling but you still got real low gears i am curious if you could make it go the original 16.4mph that it could do with the original engine
Willing to bet it's on the lean side like most small engines now, drill the jet, open up the exhaust, automotive style air filter and zip tie the governor spring. That may just get you to 18 HP if you spin it up to 4000-4200 rpm. Stock valve springs should handle it, cheap non invasive and It sure works wonders on the 212s I have.

First of all when you talk about this kind of power the torque converter that matches that power is very expensive now you can get a 40 series that's much cheaper but perhaps you get what you pay for. On the golf cart I have a 30 series for the 3/4 shaft I have had springs break ( weight springs) and the driver pulley once got jammed up. You could try bypassing the governor, since it is stock its probably revving about 3600 rpm and if you bypass it should get well over 4000 without any internal modifications.
Just trying to get all the performance I could in the beginning. Keep in mind this truck started out with a cordless drill moving it in and out of the shop and then the predator 79cc.

you may want to look into putting putting a torque converter set up on it, I know when I went from a centrifugal clutch to a torque converter on my predator 212s it was night and day better soo much more torque so it may allow you to play with some taller gearing
18 HP on a tractor I would run 2:1 , so the standard 3600 of the small engine would be 1800 input to the tractor, which is close to what older tractor turned.
I have considered it but the only one I own has given me some trouble in the past. They sell a really good one for a 1 inch shaft but it's very expensive and I don't know if the cheaper one inch shaft version would hold up.
That red beard guy just got a video and they got a couple torque and 1 or 2 hp from an exhaust pipe with a small muffler on the end and a jet in the carb on a 6.5hp so I don't see why you couldn't expect at least that much

I would run a vacuum line to the intake to run the power brake booster 😎 I think that thing is awesome. That's the goal I have someday is to have a rig like that be street legal 😁
I would put a gm hydro booster on it with a 6 rib pulley on the jack shaft to run a serpentine belt for a power steering pump which would retain power steering as well as power brakes I doubt that small of an engine could produce enough vacuum for a brake booster I feel like itd put a large strain on it if it did work
@@sinorcooper I love that idea! That's why I want to put one of those together to be able to experiment and see what works out of curiosity. It would be fun to hook the brake booster up to to intake and have the engine die as soon as you step on the brakes 😉

The reason I'm running a centrifugal clutch the only torque converter I've ever put on a project has caused me problems because it's a cheap one the one for this project is very expensive however I may try a 40 series on it.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm definitely need to be a 40 series if it's over 5 horsepower seeming the torque is quite a bit anything over a 40 series or a 760 series would be great try a snowmobile torque converter setup that should get you quite a bit of torque and power out of it without destroying it I run a 40 series on an 18 horsepower 420 predator to a 3-speed transmission from a quad

I have a torque converter in the golf cart it has caused me a few problems.
I have a Mazda b2300 that was my mother’s ,I would love to have a motor like that for her
Go for it!
Can you do this with a automatic smart car
Don't know if it would shift ,but possibly
I bet that transmission will last forever! Made for so much more power means it's super soft on the transmission with lower powered engines.
I think you are right. Thanks for watching.
That was impressive. How was the down shifting?
Downshifting takes a little practice but not too bad
You could try bypassing the governor, since it is stock its probably revving about 3600 rpm and if you bypass it should get well over 4000 without any internal modifications.
True
Was it too heavy with the bed?
Just trying to get all the performance I could in the beginning. Keep in mind this truck started out with a cordless drill moving it in and out of the shop and then the predator 79cc.
Awesome results!
Thanks, I appreciate you watching.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm I have a 39 Plymouth ratrod pickup on a s10 frame that will probably be powered this way. Thanks for your tips.
Cool video man. Merry Christmas
Thank you, Merry Christmas
Good stuff! I'm thinking about doing something similar with a flatfender Willys jeep.
Btw you're not far from me.
A jeep setup like this would be real nice, where are you located?
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm East of Huntsville. Are you near Athens?
Danville, South Morgan County.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm I know exactly where that is. Some of us dual sport riders meet in Danville sometimes before we go riding in Bankhead Forest.
you know harbor freight carry's a i think 620 cc v twin engine . it retails for $999.99 but with a coupon it would be cheaper . i bet you could hit 55 with that thing maybe . ether way what a fun build
I bought one 3 weeks ago 😁. We'll see, thanks for watching.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm thats crazy cool . would love to see something like that in a small car like a mg or triumph . you know one of the little bitty sport cars just because i think they would be super light and arrow dynamic . you figure that truck you got is hitting 45 + with the duromax how much faster would it be with the 620 predetor and in a small car . ether way i bet that 620 makes that truck do speed limits at least . good luck with it ill be watching .
I scroll through Facebook marketplace looking for the right small car ,fiero, MG, Metro, just haven't found the right one yet.
you may want to look into putting putting a torque converter set up on it, I know when I went from a centrifugal clutch to a torque converter on my predator 212s it was night and day better soo much more torque so it may allow you to play with some taller gearing
I'm thinking about it
what size/tooth clutch and transmission sprocket for a tractor? 18hp onan powerplant
18 HP on a tractor I would run 2:1 , so the standard 3600 of the small engine would be 1800 input to the tractor, which is close to what older tractor turned.
14 tooth clutch, 28-32 tooth drive sprocket.
Have you looked into a torque converter I know robot cantina used one and said it was best left in just one gear like 3rd or something
I'm thinking about it, thanks for watching.
What clutch did you buy?

Why do you need a clutch on the engine when you have a transmission with neutral.
If the transmission is in neutral and the transmission shaft is spinning, how would you put it in gear?
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm your truck has no clutch on the transmission?
No , when I removed the 4 cylinder engine the flywheel and the pressure plate went away as well.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm you think of doing a cvt. It might get you more speed.
I have considered it but the only one I own has given me some trouble in the past. They sell a really good one for a 1 inch shaft but it's very expensive and I don't know if the cheaper one inch shaft version would hold up.
You should try and see if you can get a Predator 670 to fit
I purchased one last Monday, stay tuned. Thanks for watching.
Protect your content and videos , this is Great I wonder how long it last and how far you can drive.
We'll see
looks like a lot of fun !!
It is !
I would put a bed of some sort on it, put it on the road and take it to car shows!
It's been to a car show, out of 300+ cars it was hands down the most popular.
Maybe try some easy mods to your motor. Different pipe, different air cleaner. Bypass the governor. You should hit your 50mph. 👍
I'm looking into it, thanks
That red beard guy just got a video and they got a couple torque and 1 or 2 hp from an exhaust pipe with a small muffler on the end and a jet in the carb on a 6.5hp so I don't see why you couldn't expect at least that much
Thanks, I'll look into it. Thanks for watching
I think you should try two of those clutches in sequence plus you should get a 420 predator motor it will give a better performance!!!
I bought a 670 predator
Nice perfect for torque
Keep it up man
What couch did u end up going with?
I bought this one , but the link says it is out of stock, there are many on ebay that are the same style.
www.ebay.com/itm/401772473371?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=52kb4HqNRia&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=07vVd76cTIS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Thanks man do u think a heavy duty 10hp or a 13 HP is better
I'd probably go with the higher rated one, I had a lower rated one that chattered, but it was a different style too.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm like the one with more horses power what it calling higher rated?
Yes , and the kind that are called a noram style seem to be better
Is it truly a 18hp engine?
Some say it is, some say it's not, I don't think it is, but that's just my suspicion.
Love your videos.
I appreciate you watching them 👍
What about a belt driven torque converter like for a go-cart or ATV they change the ratio and may get you the speed you want get one and try it out!
I've been looking into it, thanks for watching.
Don't worry about. A Ford T with 20 pony didn't exceed 45 miles per hour too
👍
I would run a vacuum line to the intake to run the power brake booster 😎 I think that thing is awesome. That's the goal I have someday is to have a rig like that be street legal 😁
I might try that, build it man, make it happen.
I doubt it has enough vacuum
I would put a gm hydro booster on it with a 6 rib pulley on the jack shaft to run a serpentine belt for a power steering pump which would retain power steering as well as power brakes I doubt that small of an engine could produce enough vacuum for a brake booster I feel like itd put a large strain on it if it did work
@@sinorcooper I love that idea! That's why I want to put one of those together to be able to experiment and see what works out of curiosity. It would be fun to hook the brake booster up to to intake and have the engine die as soon as you step on the brakes 😉
@@patthesoundguy lol depends on why you were hitting the brakes as to just how fun it would be
Ever thought about a cvt clutch.
I absolutely am thinking about it thanks for watching.
should try a Wisconsin VH4d engine in that.
That would be pretty cool
cool set up!
Thanks , I appreciate you watching
Ever going to do a v twin?
Yes, I have a brand new predator v twin, just need time to do it.
I'd like to see the 22hp predator in it
Me too, but that engine is not cheap any longer
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm nothing is cheap anymore brother
Got a1927 ford truck would like to talk to you about your truck. Would like to put a 22hp in my truck could I get over 50mph
Don't know where you live hope it's around Huntsville, AL.
I think the 22hp will get you 50. I have that engine if I I ever get time to install it in the truck. I'm in Danville Al. About 30 miles from Huntsville. I work in Decatur.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you I live of off exit 9 on 565 in Huntsville watched a lot of your videos found them very informative if possible wood like to meet with you if possible let me know an I'll give you my cellphone number
Turbo Charge it🚔🚔🛻🚔🚔 hello from Detroit Michigan brother thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise
Not much of an expert, just a hillbilly that can work some things out. Thanks for watching!
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm I saw a Guy mount a leaf blower on one as a Turbo
I would love to see a torque converter set put on there would make that clutch obsolete give you the torque you need and the top end power that you want but that's just my opinion but would really love to see a torque converter set up on there torque converter from the motor down to the chain chain to where you have it now and run it like that
The reason I'm running a centrifugal clutch the only torque converter I've ever put on a project has caused me problems because it's a cheap one the one for this project is very expensive however I may try a 40 series on it.
👍
You da man!
LOL, I'm not da man, but da man don't mess with me!
