You are basically doing what Citroen did in the late 1930's: make a lightweight car with a 400cc engine that gets great mileage.
Immediately after WW2 Messerschmidt did the same with their KR175 and KR200. Unlike the Citroen the Messerschmidts were also aerodynamic. That's what you get when an airplane maker starts building cars.
Cool project! You could use a tiny turbo on that engine. They do exist.

I like Nissan as long as it doesn't have a CVT. Some Infiniti come with a 7 speed auto but some do have the CVT as well.
That CVT from Jatco is also used in some Mitsubishi models as well.
I don't think Nissan as well wants to stick with the CVT as it has caused lots of warranty transmission replacement.
Honda also had their early transmission problems as well in the early 2006-2008 Ridgeline. Took 2 years to improve the transmission. Nissan has made attempts to improve the CVT but it only gained a bit more durability.
I think they finally decided to shift away.
For people in the used car market many will become victims of the CVT but also many people don't inform themselves of the vehicle they look at only that it looks nice.
