  • In this video I take a 440 Duromax out of my pickup truck and install it in my old 1940s Farmall tractor and then I take it to the farm and Bush hog with it.

It’s incredible how tractors with a few horsepower can do so much. That is impressive. I am amazed that friction clutch does as well as it does under that kind of load.

1400 revs into the transmission is a little down from stock, but not a lot - stock is 1650. The tractor was originally rated at 24 on the belt; a big Briggs or Honda V-twin can put out that kind of power all day.

Just thought I'd add, you may consider regearing your chain drive so engine will run closer to it's governed rpm's. This will insure max power and less slippage on you clutch and more power for you pto. You apparently have the gears to increase or decrease your speed as needed. Takk

    • @ChrisfromKeyfarm

In this video I tried to match the stock PTO RPM, I have purchased the new sprocket to slow it down a bit but increased the torque like you mentioned 👍👍👍

I like to give the tractor an additional function ! In the empty space in front add 02or03 batteries and connect to 01 or 02 marine power inverters for electric power back up when & where ever needed on the farm or cattle farm.
Also would add 01 or 02 multi purpose fire suppresion hand units just in case of possible engine malfunction or issue while on the farm especially during dry drought time frames. One issue on any farm is the repair and mending of fence !
Design a open type fence caddy to fit in the space aeound my power converter with assortment of fencing repair items.
That empty space is only limited by one's imagination of thoughts. Enjoy the blessings of and from God .

Actually I'd like to see you put hydraulics on it are they using the secondary PTO or actually put in a separate predator to run a hydraulic pump. Imagine how much more useful would be with a front end loader impossibly even a little backhoe hooked to the back end.😊 It is extremely nice to see a piece of good equipment salvage from the grave.

Have you thought about adding a 12v water pump to water down the outside edge of the clutch? Perhaps it'd extend the life of it? I haven't priced any of this stuff yet so no idea if it's worth it or not. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

It amazing me why in these air cooled motors conversions. No one has put a truck 4 speed transmission between the engine and tractor transmission. That would give somewhere around 20 speed. And multiple form in 1 gear tractor and grany grunt 1st gear 4 speed the trouble would be traction with equvent to close 100 hp with this engine.

Keep in mind most of these videos are "what if" and "I wonder if I could____ ______ _____" kind of content. As far as the 670 in the truck, 50 MPH was the goal and it hasn't been met yet. If I start with the biggest engine in everything I'm killing a lot of content on the way to the biggest engine. And with limited resources you have to plan ahead what your doing without going broke.
